Plethora of issues with my NEW computer. Apple won't help

I bought my brand new Apple MacBook Pro in August of 2011. Paying so much for a product manufactured by such a large and notable company, one would expect to get a piece of machinery that was worth the amount of money that I spent.
WRONG.
Since I bought the computer, I have had NOTHING but problems with it.
As of right now I have brought my computer in multiple times to the Apple Store (none of which are even remotely close to my location), I believe around 8 times, and the people at the Apple Store have been nothing but unhelpful and rude to me.
When I opened the computer, there was a "Ghost Image" that the AppleStore FIXED but failed to resolve any other issues. Since then the computer has caused nothing but problems and my dealings with the Apple Store have cost me a lot of time, money and patience.
At about the fourth visit, one would think that the staff would actually do something about the problems I was experiencing instead of running checks and telling me there was nothing wrong and that there was nothing they could do.
Is there a way to circumvent the Apple Store and go to someone who can actually take responsibility for a faulty product sold to an extrememly unhappy customer?
All I want is a functioning computer that I can use.
Thanks.

Perhaps.
Although after having brought my computer into the store 8 times where they are supposedly experts at resolving issues and receiving no help, you think that writing the problems online will do a better job at solving the issues?
Doubtful.
Very, Extremely, Doubtful if you don't post the problems.
Not sure how long you have been using Mac computers but if you are switching from PC to Mac Apple clearly lies about how they are easier to use. Could this be mostly user errors or unfamiliarity with the Mac OS.
Some of the problems may be solved with a Clean install of the OS, Yes even Mac's need that from time to time (even if some old Mac fanboys say it isn't ever needed) just like Windows PCs.
So why not give posting the problems a shot. You have Nothing to lose.

  • Syncing issues with a new computer, while old computer is dead

Ok, So when I first purchased the iPod Nano 3rd generation, I still lived at my parents and set everything up through their computer. I bought music, and imported music to it from CD's on this computer and everything synced correctly and nicely.
Now, I have sinced moved out and have a new computer which I have authorized, but cannot import any of the music I imported from my CD's a few years back. On top of it, I have purchased music from my new computer, but cannot sync it directly to my iPod to actually listen too for whatever reason. The final issue is that my parent's computer is completely dead, so I cannot even go on that one to deauthorize.
Is there any way that I can get the music I have purchased recently to transfer over to my iPod? And, is there a way I can get the music I copied from old CD's into my new library on the new computer?

    Try this:
Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3
Just be aware that CS2 is very old software and will NOT work on current versions of either Macintosh or Windows computers. For example, it's incompatible with Mavericks on a Mac and Windows 8.

  • Still need help with 2122 error.  Apple won't help.

okay, i'm still getting the 2122 error when burning. i'm all out of ideas and apple isn't helping me at all with their "award winning customer support". btw, who gave them that "award"? anyway, this discussion board is pretty much my last hope to get some kind help. any new ideas or solutions to this problem?

Ipod touch will sync with one computer at a time. If you sync to another, it will first erase the content from the ipod, then replace it with content from the new computer.
On Mac, not completely sure about Windows, you can copy the entire itunes folder to the new computer and retain the information.

I've a few issues, my old computer was out of memory.  I changed to a new one which already had another itunes account (for my business)  when i upgraded to os5 my library has dissappeared as it has syncd with the new computer.  Is there any way i can restore the information previously from my ipad?  really appreciate any advice thanx in advance

If you still have the old computer, you should be able to connect the iPad, run iTunes and restore from a backup from a previous sync.  Now that you have it updated, you will not need to do that again.

  • My iPod classic 7th Gen  will not sync with my new computer. itunes is installed and updated.

    fellow iPod classic owners,
the problem is a failure to sync with the new computer. the conditions are as follows: the new computer is a pc. it has the latest iTunes software installed. the iPod is installed properly. i'm fully recognized by my iTunes account. there is nothing lacking other than my iPod's refusal to sync with my new computer. what have i left undone? i could be suffering from a duh, but i'm not the only one. nothing in the apple world is as difficult as this one is, at least on the surface. if it were that simple an issue, no one would be having any problems with it. any more information needed can be provided by request. by the way, the computer being used has been authorized. that is a non-issue.
                                                                                                                 your help is appreciated,
                                                                                                                     hardphil.

I believe the IPOD (Classic) uses USB 2.0,  and my new laptop uses USB 3.0.  I think they are not compatable because of this.  If you find a solution to this please let me know.

  • How to sync an iPhone 4 with a New Computer?

I have a broken Windows Vista laptop, an iPhone 4 with broken WIFI, and a new Windows 7 PC.
I'd like to backup the data on my iPhone somewhere, but the wireless iCloud backups won't work because my phone has no WIFI, and the old laptop I used to use no longer works.
So, does anyone know of a way to get my phone synced up with the new computer without erasing everything on it?

Thanks! I bought the backup app for Windows and gave it a shot, but ran into some issues:
    5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your iTunes library).
This option isn't in the File menu, there's a "Transfer Purchases from iPod" that's disabled/not clickable, but there's never been an iPod plugged into this computer or attached to my iTunes/Apple account.
    6. Right click your phone in the left device pane & select "Reset warnings".
    7. Right click again and select "Backup".
These aren't options either, just "Eject" and "Restore from backup" are listed in the right-click menu.
    8. Right click again & select "Restore from Backup", select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
I'm never prompted to create another backup.
    9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your iTunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select "Merge".
When the process completes, the phone reboots and the same exact "Set Up Your iPhone" screen is present, and there's no option to sync anywhere.
The phone appears to have been wiped and restored correctly though. I took a picture after the initial backup using the 3rd party app to be able to tell if the data's been wiped or not. It's just not in sync with iTunes yet.

  • Issues with the New Cloud

Missing options in Media Encoder, Premiere, and After Effects.
Just got done with this chat with Richa.
It appears that there are some issues with your new version of several of your flagship programs. No way to create SMALL size video files for use on slower networks (yes, they still exist out there, I deal with them every day). And the video files have to have alpha channels so they can be overlayed on top of graphics. I am still using flash because it can do things that just cant be done with HTML 5, javascript, css. And it is compatible across almost all browsers. I don't really care what Apple says it is still a very viable program. And if you want to play it on an iOS platform all you need is a browser app to do so. (people have safari, firefox, internet explorer, google etc. so get over the fact that it doesn't work with safari on iOS for iPads and iPhones and download another browser).
But now Adobe has started pulling some real stupid mistakes on purpose or by accident. Not everyone using your production suite is working on the next blockbuster movie for Hollywood. We use these programs for other applications as well. And you have opted to leave some of those tools out of your latest release of flagship programs. What are you thinking!
We in the industry need to make video files that are small in size, that contain alpha channels, and will download over slow networks at a reasonable rate. I don't have any use for a Quicktime mov the size of the Titanic (1.2Gig) when I can compress it to a reasonable size. BUT I NEED THE ABILITY TO INCLUDE THE ALPHA CHANNEL.
And if you read in the chat session below, I would like to be able to do this without having two copies of After Effects loaded on my system.  Or any of the other programs as I come across issues.
You have 2.3 million people paying you a monthly subscription. Put down the champagne and start really looking at these new versions of software for your omissions.
I will climb down off my soapbox now and hope, no pray these issues get taken care of very soon. I use your software to make a living. I am not just playing with it as a hobby. Time is money, especially when you can't deliver something to a client after you upgrade your software because you have this wonderful subscription thing that is supposed to make the world better.
You are now chatting with Richa.
Richa: We appreciate your patience and regret the inconvenience due to high wait time.
Richa: Hello. Welcome to Adobe Technical Support.
Richa: Please allow me a moment while I look into your account & verify the details.
Richa: which application are you using?
Richa: We have not heard from you for some time.  Do you wish to continue to chat?
david young: After Effects, Premiere, Media Encoder. Any of these. I have downloaded CC 2014 and you have done away with several options when creating video that I use to create interactive pieces for Flash presentations. I can no longer create flvs with alpha. I cannot create H.264 with alpha.
david young: Are you still there?
Richa: yes, please wait a moment
Richa: Open the preferences of After Effects and in the output tab, click on show depriciated formats
david young: Opened prefrences/output but dont see depricated formats.
Richa: I am sorry that option is available in CC as of now, so you need to save this project as AFter effects cc version and open in the previous version and work on it
david young: Well that Sucks. I removed the previous version of the program when I upgraded. How do I get to a previous version from the app manager?
Richa: go to creative cloud app
Richa: and click on the previous version
david young: The only version available is 2014. I don't see a previous version.
Richa: Please allow me to take the remote access of your computer, so that I can troubleshoot further accordingly.
david young: You may not have remote control of my computer. Walk me through the process. And how do I lodge a formal complaint about this issue. Do you not remember why people switched from Final Cut 10 to Premiere?
Richa: We already have posted this issue online on our blogs and forums. Secondly, for the older versions, it is just a simple step in creative cloud app
Richa: All you have to do is in the dropdown menu on uninstalled apps select "Previous version" and click on the version you need to install
david young: There is no drop down menu that says previous version.

  • How do I associate my iPhone (all my iDevices) with a new computer?

This question has been asked, but my situation is a bit different.  I have a 4 year old MacBook Pro.  My iPhone (4S), iPod Touch (4th gen), and iPad 3 are all associated with this computer.  I just bought a new Mac Mini and want to associate these three devices with the Mini and "abandon" the MBP (even though I will still be using it for other things).
I have already transferred ALL the content (Music, Podcasts, iTunes U, Movies, etc.) in my MBP's iTunes library onto my Mac Mini's iTunes library.  They are essentially mirror copies of each other.  I also subscribe to iTunes Match.  So ALL my music is accessible via the Cloud.  I have already turned on iTunes Match with the Mini and downloaded all the songs in my library to the Mini except a small number that I hardly ever play.  I left them in the Cloud.
Now, my semi-ignorant intuition says I should be able to create a backup of each iDevice "to my MBP" (not to iCloud) and then copy the backup and transfer it to my Mac Mini.  (How I do this I am not sure.  Transfer the backups to an external hard drive and then to my Mac Mini?)   Where are these backups on my MBP anyway?
Then I thought I could connect my iDevices to my Mac Mini and "Restore from Backup"  (The backup that I transfered from my MBP).  This way my iDevice would come out of this whole process looking just like it was before...more or less.  All my apps would be in the folders I created for them, e-mail accounts would be preserved, etc.
Or is there something even better...faster.  I mean, the two libraries are exactly the same.  It would be nice if I could just associate the iDevices with the new computer and not have to restore at all.
OK, I throw myself at the mercy of the court.  I don't dare touch these devices until I am sure I won't totally jank them all up.

    I'm Back.
With Big Al's help and some trial and error I have succeeded in transferring "ownership" of my 3 iDevices over to my new Mac Mini.  However, as I expected, some "Poop Happened."  However, it was not because of bad advice from the Big Boy.
Here is a summary for those attempting this in the future.
    1.  I THOUGHT I did a complete recreation of my MBP's iTunes library on my Mac Mini.  Really.  I did.  I used Home Sharing between my MBP and my Mac Mini to import "everything" from the MBP's iTunes library to the Mac Mini.  In almost every respect, that method worked beautifully.  Highly recommended.  What I had forgot is there was one glitch.  It was with a collection of podcasts of Steve Jobs being interviewed by the folks from All Things Digital.  I believe there are 6 video podcasts and one .pdf in the series.  For some reason, there was a problem when I tried to import that particular podcast collection to my Mac Mini.  So, I just bagged the import and went to the iTunes store and download the podcasts and .pdf, fresh and new, from the store.  So, strictly speaking, my Mac Mini Library wasn't EXACTLY the same as my MBP's.
    2.  I then connected my iPod Touch 4G to my Mac MIni to start the process of coverting ownership of that iDevice to the Mini.  Unfortunately, when I was done, there was a problem.  It was that podcast series.  When I went to set up wireless syncing of the iPod Touch I noticed that BOTH my MBP and my Mac Mini were listed under Wireless syncing!  The MBP had podcasts under its name.  The Mini had all other types of iTunes media under its name.  I didn't even know this was possible.  But, I knew this was not good.  In fact, my iPod Touch would still try to connect with my MBP when I open iTunes on the MBP.  It would also connect to my Mac Mini.  This is not suppose to happen!
    3.  So, after some head scratching and messing around, with no luck at resolving the situation, I decided to restore the iPod Touch FROM BACKUP (while my iPod Touch was connected to my Mac Mini...of course).  I first made a full backup of the iPod Touch to my computer then fired away and let the process run its course.
    4.  SUCCESS!  The iPod Touch no longer had and remnants of its former life with the MBP.  Under Wireless Syncing only the Mac Mini now appeared.  I performed the procedure with my iPhone 4S and iPad 3 connected to my Mac Mini.  Totally successful also.  By that point it was 2:00 AM and time to go to bed.
    5.  I don't know if Big Al's advice would have worked if I had not messed with the podcast section of my iTunes library.  But, I suspect it probably would have.  So, my advice is...if you are going to do this, try at all costs to not change a thing when you recreate your iTunes library on your new machine.  Even if it's just a new copy of the same media.
BTW, the restoring wasn't a total waste of time.  I had accumulated about 7 GB of "other" data on my iPad.  For those of you who are up on this issue, it can be a real problem as it robs your iDevice of its precious, limited memory.  After restoring from backup the "other" data on my iPad had dropped to about 1 GB.  I actually wasn't surprised that this happened as this is one of several workarounds folks have developed to deal with what appears to be a problem iOS 6 has with the management of "other" data.
    Bring on iOS 7!
Oh!  I forgot.  One more piece of feedback.  Big Al's link also helped me get my iDevices to appear under "Devices" in the left column of the iTunes screen.  In my case, the suggestion from his link that worked was to shut down and restart my computer.

How do I get the sync of my 3GS on my computer to transfer everything (files, apps, etc.) to my new iphone4?  And then how do I move the sync to a newer computer so I can sync the new phone with the new computer?
My 3GS is dying and it's synced to an older computer.  I have tons of datafiles as well as apps, music, text messages, etc. that I need to get moved to the new iphone4 I'm getting.  Then I need to move the sync to a newer computer so that I can sync the new phone and new computer.
I understand how to get my apps to transfer to a new pc.  That's not the issue.  It's getting ALL the data from the 3GS to the 4 and then to a new computer.
    Thanks.

Thanks much, that's very helpful for step one (getting old phone onto new phone).  Very clear.
However, I still have the problem of moving to the new computer.  How do I move the sync to the new computer after the new phone is set up?

  • I just decommissioned my windows pc for a mac power book.  How can I get my ipad to sync with the new computer without erasing all the apps and data on the ipad?

I just decomissioned my windows pc in favor of a new (to me) MacBook Pro.  When I attempt to sync my iPad I get a warning that I will erase all content on the ipad in order to sync with the new computer.  How do avoid erasing all the data on the iPad, and get the iPad and the new Mac/iTunes to be friends?

Best option is to use Windows Migration Assistant as Ralph noted.
Here's a better (updated) link to Windows Migration Assistant for Lion -> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4796
Or if you only want iTunes (Migration Assistant let's you choose) copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from your PC to /Music/ on the Mac.
FYI: A MacBook is not a PowerBook. PowerBooks were discontinued in 2005.

You cannot merge Apple ID accounts, that has never been supported.
You can contact the Apple ID Security folks per the listing in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 and they can help reset security questions and get the account working.

  • How do i sync my iphone with a new computer

I recently purchased a new iMac and would like to sync my iphone (and iPad) with the new computer. I was previously using a mac book and I thought it would be as easy as just plugging the phone in to my new computer, but from what I have been able to find on-line it seems to be a bit more complicated and most discussion threads seem to say I will need to purchase a 3rd party app to do this. I find it hard to believe Apple does not make it easy for their customers to upgrade computers and still sync iPhones, iPads and iPods.
Am I making this more complicated than I need to? Is it as simple as just plugging the phone in to my new machine? My fear is I might over write data on the phone or the computer.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks
    Brad

The simplest way to acheive what you want is to use Micragion Assistant to move your user account from your old MacBook to the new iMac. I recently moved from an old iMac to a new one and when connecting my iPhone and iPad for the first time, all I had to do was enter my password to authorize it in iTunes.

  • How do I sync my Ipod Classic 160gb with my new computer (windows 8). It synced with my old computer (windows XP) but not with my new one (windows8)

How do I sync my Ipod Classic 160gb with my new computer (Windows8).? It synced with my old computer (WindowsXP) but will not do so on the new computer?

    Hi Lechwe,
I had this issue recently, due to changing HD for an SSD.
In my case, since the library in my iPod was synced to the HD it was not syncing to the library in the SSD, though they were the same (had the same contents).
I found there's this checkbox in iTunes > iPod > [Settings] Music, called "Sync Music". Mine was unchecked, I guess due to iPod being synced to the old library. I marked the checkbox and clicked then in Sync. iTunes asked me if I was sure I wanted to sync the iPod with the "new" library, i clicked yes, and the it started determining the song to sync. Since the library was essentially the same (just a couple songs more in the new one), it synced the couple new songs and that was it.
    Hope it helps!
    Regards,
    Awlo.
