Plextor M.2 512gb ssd works on windows 7 but not on windows 10 Technical Preview

i have found that when you try to install windows 10 on a Plextor M.2 512gb ssd the operating system locks up completely after a random amount of time usually within 10 minutes of booting it. the only way to reboot is to unplug or flip the switch
on the power supply. i have tested this also on windows 7 and it works perfect as far as i can tell. i have tried tweaking the UEFI settings and nothing fixes this. any thing i could be missing?

When you boot into Windows 10, please verify to install Windows update.

I decided to take my work flash drive home to work on a file. At home I saw that some weird files were on the flash drive and wouldn't delete, so I decided to save my files on my Mac and erase the USB flash drive. I selected the flash drive (by the way it's a 2 GB flashdrive) and I used the SECURITY OPTION 35 PASS ERRASE. Format: MS-DOS (FAT).
Everything was fine until I took my flash drive to work and plugged it on a Windows XP Computer and it appeared as Drive E I think and when I tried to open it it asked me to format it. I risked it and clicked OK and it said that I didn't have sufficient rights or something.
SUMMERY:

EVERYTHING FINE UNTIL I PLUG IN THE FLASH DRIVE IN A WINDOWS
WINDOWS ASKS ME TO REFORMAT FILE

The drive is probably now formatted for a Mac only file system. To format for a PC:
Insert the drive in the Mac and start Disk Utility (Utilities folder).
Select the drive in the left column. Be sure to select the drive (all the way to the left) not a volume (indented below the drive name).
Select the "Partition" tab.
Set "Volume Scheme" to "1 Partition" (not "Current" even if it's already one partition).
Click the "Options" button".
Select "Master Boot Record".
Click the "OK" button.
Enter a volume name (all uppercase).
Set "Format" to "MS-DOS (FAT)".
Click the "Apply" button.

Airport Extreme working with iMac but not with Windows 7 Laptop!

My iMac (OSX 10.5.8) has been working fine with my Airport Extreme, but a new member of our household cannot connect wirelessly with their Windown 7 Laptop. The PC can see the wireless name for our household and says it is connected to it, but there is a problem actually connecting to the internet. Has anyone experienced similar problems? We are at a loss as to what to do. Applecare were no help (despite forking out for the advanced applecare warranty) and both Mac and PC service providers blame each other. Any advice would be much appreicated. Surely the Airport Extreme can talk simultaneously to PC and Mac wireless computers?

I have had the same issue. Airplay working with all devices apart from one windows 7 (the actual media server) and have spent over a week trying to resolve it.
This worked for me.
Turn off windows firewall and in my instance macafee. Be warned while macafee says that it's off there are services running all the time.
You will need to open macafee settings and turn off access protection first
Then search services from start bar
Open services and filter by manufacturer
Stoop all macafee services
Right click the start bar
Open task manager
Stop all macafee processes
Try your airport utility you should now see your express
If you can you will see your icon in iTunes
This pores that it's likely to be a macafee issues. Of course you do not want to leave the firewall off so I installed macafee and installed a fresh copy turning both the windows and macafee firewall on with no resultant issues

Java sound app works on Mac but not on Windows

I am working on a program that needs to play a sound Clip and it doesn't work on XP but it does on OS/X.
I've reduced the problem to this simple test program. On my PC, the sound I hear on the speakers is just a little burst of noise, whereas it's fine on my Mac. I used one of XP's system wav files, and verified that it does play normally on the PC via other means (iTunes, etc.). I'm using the latest JDK/JRE everywhere. Here's the sample code. Anything obviously wrong here?

Solved my own problem: adding a Thread.sleep(1000); after starting the Clip worked. Looks like the app was terminating before the sound could finish playing. Obviously something is different between the way the Mac and XP JRE handles the sound thread with respect to the rest of the app.

IPod 160Gb works with Macintosh, but not with Windows

Hi,
My much treasured 160Gb iPod crashed and since then, I can restore it on a Macintosh machine and add music, etc. HOWEVER, as soon as I try it in a Windows PC it tells me I need to re-format it for Windows (expected) goes through the process OK, reboots and then drops into Disk Mode and sits there!
I have tried restoring it on the Mac and choosing not to use the disk as a hard disk (can't remember the actual terminology), still no good. Unfortunately, I don't have a mac and am able to temporaily borrow one, but would ideally like this back to working in windows.
Any ideas, please.
Just to let you know I have done the 5 Rs to death and have de-installed the latest iTunes and rolled back to a 7.6 version.

You are running an OS that is 5 years old and you want to use the latest hardware. You need to check system requirements before you buy new gadgets whether they are Apple, Microsoft, IBM, or whatever. You can't use a Zune with 98 ME or 2000...you need XP or Vista. We could debate whether Apple chose not to support new iPods in 10.3 for technical reasons or for financial reasons. Since there are more folks using ipods with windows (I think) than with Macs, I have to assume there is a technical reason. Neither one of knows for sure, so please read the stuff on the box before you buy something new.

Adobe.mst file works in XP, but not in Windows 7

I have a little problem with customizing adobe in windows 7.
I have created a MST file in adobe costomization wizard 9, using XP, and when deploying it on a windows 7 client, it just deploy the msi file.
this is what i run:

Do i have to create the MST file from a windows 7 client?

Nevermind, turns out that FF just didn't close properly when I was editing that file, after forcing it to close using taskmanager and starting again that userchrome.css worked just fine. Bug in closing the FF in this case.

UserChrome.css works on XP but not on Windows 7

Hello.
I have modified userChrome.css which mainly fiddles with tab widths based on if it is selected or not. This works fine on XP but does absolutely nothing on Windows 7.
Any idea where to start looking the reason for this? What is different in Win7 regarding dealing with tabs?

SSD showing in bios but not during windows fresh install.

750 watt power supply
MSI g45 gaming mobo
GTX 770
I'm trying to use the computer off a new Samsung evo 120. I want to do a fresh install of windows 7 on it. The bios picks it up, but it's not an option to install when I try to do a fresh install of windows 7.. Kind of at a loss here of what to do, is there an option on the mobo I need to set in order for it to be detected?

Sounds one of the following problems:
1.) The drive is formatted MBR w/ win 8 features enabled / legacy disabled.
2.) A "dynamic" drive is present.

New tabs do not open with middle mouse in Windows, but not Linux

I've seen this bug reported a few times already, but none of them seem to have resolved the issue (at least for me).
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T510 currently running two operating systems on separate partitions (Windows 7 and Fedora 20). Firefox is my default browser in both operating systems and both are up to date. Both browsers are using the same plugins and extensions as well (which is essentially nothing because I just performed a clean install of both OS's).
Now, I should be clear that I'm using the laptop's built-in touch-pad/track-point for mouse navigation and not an external mouse.
Interestingly, when I click the middle mouse trackpad button on a link to open a new tab, it works under Fedora, but not under Windows. I've checked the about:config already and ensured that they too are identical in regards to middle mouse button settings.

Does it work with an actual mouse?
On Linux those prefs are true by default.

1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
3. Check the USB cable
4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

Perhaps the reason you haven't had any replies is because there is no such thing as an 8GB iPod Classic.
I suggest that you begin by correctly identifying which iPod you have.

TS1363 "iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes" Isn't working!

I've tried all of the things in the "iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes" but none of them work.
I'm on Windows 8 and those are the instrucations I've followed.
The only thing I haven't done is reset my computer to factory mode but that Isn't an option for me cause I got saved games that can't be backed up.
I've literaly tried everything in that help page and it doesn't work.
All I get is the iTouch charging, asking me to trust the computer, I say trust, nothing happens, I check the device manager and it doesn't shw the USB no matter what, I restart the ipod services and the apple software services, nothing happens, I completely take dwn my McAfee firewall and scanning system, it doesn't work, restarting it to make sure no viruses attack, uninstalled Razer Synapsis because it has been a pain in the butt before, that doesn't work, I emptied my Temp file and that didn't work, And in the end the iTouch is charging but not even being see by Itunes and no updates, restarts, reinstallations, uninstallations, checking, researching, and anything else I can do works.
Can someone please explain why apple tech is such a pain when it comes to Windows 8 and how I can fix this without losing 2 years worth of school and saved games?!?!?!?

Connect the device to a different compuer and back it up there. You should be able to copy off the library to a portable hard drive. See also Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

I am trying to open up a new web page from an applet using showDocument. This works fine on Windows but not on Mac. The applet I am working with extends JApplet. Does anybody have any suggestions?

This is not working for me either. After issuing the showDocument(url, target) command I never see the request come into my webserver log. Although, it only seems to not work when the Mac is setup as Japanese. I know this doesn't make any sense.

CS6 Plugin works on windows but not mac

Hi,
We have been developing a plugin for InDesign since CS3 and have recently ported it to CS6 (it was ported to all previous versions too, as they came out).
I followed the porting guide etc. and on windows it compiles and runs just ok - the plugin works correctly.
But when i compiled the same files on our mac machine and put the .indesignPlugin file in th plugins directory i can't see our plugin's context menu.
I can see that it is in fact loaded on startup (when i remove it ID loads 325 extensions, when i put it back - 326), but still it dosen't seem to work...
I initially thought that the versioning was off but our PluginVersion resource relies solemnly on SDKDef.h , i also tried putiing the file in CS5's plugin directory and got an error message that CS6 is required - so the version info is fine i guess.
We are using xCode 3.2.5 (because we have to support Mac OS 10.5 and 10.4) to build on mac and i've never had problems before - it worked on CS4, CS5 and CS5.5.
The changes i made when porting were minor and only in the code - so what has changed? and how come it works on windows but not on mac?
Any input is greatly appreciated, i've already spent days trying to understand this.

The resources do get compiled correctly (i assume this because we do get a .indesign file at the end - which means the ODFRC ran ok). they are linked correctly in the mac project (i saw a file that determines the version - it's linked the same way against my win and mac projects and the win version works fine so i guess that's ok too).
the context menu is just another menu on the "menu bar" (don't know how to call it?) - i.e where the "file" and "edit" etc. menus are.
I can't seem to understand how come this works fine under windows but not under mac - they are essentially the same projects linked against the same resources (the difference being iCode vs VC10 projects).
can this be related to the fact we're using xCode 3.2.5?

I have a Flex (AIR) application that is giving me problems on
the Mac. In one of the
Datagrids, I am using an ItemRenderer with an image control.
Some code in the
"set data(value:Object)" function assigns a file path as the
source of the image
control as follows.

This works correctly in Windows , but not on the Mac.
In this case, the path resolves to the following on the Mac.
/Users/brian/Documents/pdqtemp/artist_01t.jpg
I have verified that the file is in the right place and when
using the path in
the command line console, it correctly addresses that
directory and file. I
don't normally develop apps for the Mac so I am sure there is
something I am
missing.
Any ideas?

That is the exact path assigned to the Source of the Image
control. However, it isn't exactly a trace of the Image.Source
property.
The code in question is attached
The alert shows the path I originally posted and shows that
the fileImgThumb.exists returns False.
As I mentioned, this works perfectly in Windows. There is
some code elsewhere in the app that creates the thumbnail. That
does work on the Mac as the thumbnail image is created and saved
where expected.
I am not sure what I might be doing wrong.
