PLM Change Management Workflow Migration?

I understand from the documentation I can migrate workflow processes that are created in oracle Workflow Builder via the .wft files (custom workflows). I'm interested to know if there is a way to migrate workflows that are created using the change management tools inside of PLM. Do these result in .wft files and if so how do I find their names?
Any help would be appreciated as we are currently configuring the workflows in each environment (dev, test, ... prod) and this is a huge waste of our time and resources.

As for Oracle Workflow is concerned, it can be saved and ported as WFT files. The workflow definitions are created ONLY using Workflow Builder and no other tool. As far as my knowledge goes, no other tool really embeds the Builder inside it or for that matter can create Workflow definitions.
Please explain what you meant by Workflows created by PLM's Change Mgmt tools.
Thanks
Vijay

    Hello All,
Have two questions to understand latest trends in PLM.
    1. What is the recommended tool we need to use for Engineering change management
as per latest trends in PLM.  Is ECR/ECO CC31/CC32 still considered
part of best practice or has been Obsoleted ??
    2. For Cad Integration, is CDESK obsolete. Has Engineering
Desktop overtaken CDESK. I used to work with CDESK in the past.
    Thanks,

    Hi Sachin
Please find the replies for  the query you have asked.

It is still used in industries.  But  with PLM 7.02 you have more robust mechanism of Engineering
Records which has better capablities than ECR/ECO.
    2. For Cad Integration, is CDESK obsolete. Has Engineering

SAP Engineering Center Control is used   .

  • Engineering change management workflow

    Hi Experts,
In our case ,Workflow should not be triggered by the event or from the IMG configuration . Workflow should be triggered manaually by clicking the start workflow option in transaction CC02.
Click the first icon in CC02, followed by selecting start workflow icon. Now you will get  a popup  screen displaying all of the possible sub workflows  and a main workflow  which are related to ECM workflows.
Now you will be choosing the main workflow followed by clicking the start button to trigger the workflow.
The client wants to trigger the workflow from the application like this . The creator of the ECR will start the workflow only after all of the objects are attached and if the creator finds ok then he starts the workflow for further process.
    My question is :
Only the main workflow should come up in the pop up screen so that user won't get confused which workflow they need to start. if only main workflow displayed in the pop up screen then  the user have only one option to choose and start the workflow. How to avoid all the subworkflows which is displayed in the pop up screen ?
Advance thanks for guiding me with the solution and  surely points will be awarded .
    Thanks,
    Jack.

    Hi Nabheet,
That was a useful reply, I used swu_obuf but still it doesnt work.
Actually the workitem is visible in outbox (workflow) of the sender. it shows the recipent name in the assigned users and the his SBWP inbox icon, but it doesnt appear in his inbox.
I have found OSS note "sapnote_0001308276" which is very similar to the solution provided by you. I think it should work but i am not sure.
@ All : if some one has implemented with note pls let me know.
    Thanks,

  • How to deactivate Change Request Management workflows task

We are in a situation where we are switching external SAP service
organisation and we cannot at this stage introduce any new procedures
regarding sceduling-tasklists/TMS/etc. Our ChaRM implementation project
must be set back in to a possision where we can maintain our normal
system maintainance processes without using a fully implementated
CharRM functionallity. The implementation of CharRM has to be realized
    in 2 steps:
    a) activate only ChaRM documentation system/flow as an extention of
servicedesk, implement this in our organisation
    b) activate fully ChaRM functionality with interaction with
SLD/TMS/tasklists/etc after we have switched service organisation
    Needs:
    1) How to deactivate ChaRM IMG setting SAP Solution Manager-
    >Configuration->Scenario-Spesific Settings->Change Management->Change
    Request Management->Standard Configuration->General Activities-
    >Activate Integration with Change Request Management and related

We had in an earlier stage the total service process/documentationflow
up and running and with possibilities to interact/respond on
servicemessages for these roles: User, Servicedesk, Change Manager,
Change Advisory board, Developer, Tester, IT Operator equal to ChaRM

  • Issue on Saving Changed List UIBB contents in PLM - Recipe Management

    Dear All
I am having a requirement to enhancement the standard PLM Change/ Display Recipe Screen. Enhanced to have two buttons - Get Moisture Loss Button and Calculate Moisture Loss Button. On selecting Get Moisture, system will show a pop up where the user can enter Moisture Loss value. and on selecting the button Calculate Moisture Loss, system will perform some actions based on the value entered on the pop up and updates the Nutrient list in the Calculation tab.
I am able to see the calculated, or the updated values in the list, but on selecting the save button I am getting an error as Data has not been saved since it was last saved.
Can anybody please guide me how to solve this issue in Saving the data back.?
I have done enhancement to the GET_DATA method of the standard feeder class /PLMU/CL_FRW_G_FEEDER_LIST to update the Nutrient list.
    Thanks in advance
    Rinzy Deena Mathews.

    Hi All
Solved the issue by myself. First and for most thing here is that, the List values are the ones which gets calculated at run time. We can only save the enhanced field values. In order to make the SAVE trigger on we need to enhance the standard structure for the new fields.
    Thanks and Regards

  • A note on Setup Manager - Application Change Management Pack

    Hi All,
This is Mugunthan, Development manager for iSetup and Setup Manager. I am happy to begin my note with the launch of Application Change Management Pack 3.1. For those who are not aware of Application Change Management Pack, it is a new product built on top of Oracle Enterprise Manager and comprises of three major modules namely Setup Manager, Customization Manager and Patch Manager. You can find more information about this pack here (LCM: Oracle Application Change Management Pack Setup Manager is enhanced and advanced version of iSetup on Oracle Enterprise Manager. There were good amount of reasons to re-architect iSetup on Oracle Enterprise Manager as Setup Manager.
    Why Setup Manager?
Ability to migrate to data over point releases of EBS – EBS comes up with rollup patches on top of major releases periodically. It means that you have to certify the patch before it get deployed on to production which means that setup data are to be certified again. iSetup cannot connect between 12.0.4 to 12.0.6 or 12.0.6 to 12.1.1. We have achieved the data migration for above scenarios in Setup Manager (11i to R12 is not supported in Setup Manager)
Projects – Setup Manager supports grouping of Extracts, Transforms, Loads and Reports as a single entity and can be deployed multiple times to multiple targets. The project consists of one or more tasks (of type Extract/Load/Transform/Report) and can be orchestrated according to your ends. Project execution supports scheduling which means that you can use this feature to sync up setup data between two instances at periodic internal. Projects can be shared with other users which is remarkable difference between iSetup and Setup Manager. You can share your projects with others in a combined development environment. The functional configuration data (Extracts) are stored in Oracle Enterprise Manager. This means that you can refresh EBS without losing Extracts.
Integration with Change Approval mechanism – Execution of projects is integrated with change approval mechanism which means that you can control who executes what. Also, you have fine grain access control where you can control EBS targets assigned to a user.
Offline Transformation – I would say this is the most unique feature of Setup Manager and as an implementer you would welcome this feature very much. iSetup has got very limited capability on Transformation. Here we have gone way ahead and support Transformation on almost all Setup Objects. We present you the extracted data in excel sheets. You can download the excel template and work offline. All the attribute value fields in the excel sheet are editable which means that you supply your own value. For example, you can download Operating Unit data in xls file and change operating unit “OU100” to “OU200” and upload it back to system and load to target instance. Please note that any attribute of Operating Unit setup data can be edited. Also, system has got intelligence and once you upload the excel sheet, it automatically changes all the inventory organization which belongs to “OU100” to “OU200”. This behavior can be controlled using attribute mapping which you can create in Setup Manager. Hold on, this is not the end, also you can add more operating unit in excel, say OU300 and OU400 and load it to target instance. You can delete few Operating Units from extracted data in excel sheet and load the remaining to target instance. This gives you complete flexibility to manage (add/edit/delete) functional configuration data offline. This is fantastic feature and please have a look at how it works.
Advanced Filtering – Filter support in iSetup is not flexible where you cannot use comma separated values and complex sql join conditions. Also you do not know what query is executed behind the scenes to the data. All this problems are addressed in Setup Manager 3.1. We show you the “select clause” (SQL) associated with interface and provide you a text field where you can refer the select clause and provide your own custom where criteria (SQL). This means that filter support is unlimited and you can set filter any database columns. For example, you can extract “Responsibilities/Menu” which are active or created as on yesterday. You can extract all Operating Units excluding “OU100 and OU200”. We support all filter criteria that are supported by SQL.

    Hi,
your note very interesting. Is there any other way to extract the configuration using SQL? not using Enterprise Manager? hope this will be fastest way then using GUI base.
    Thanks,
    Fahmi Fahlevi

  • BPM - Change Management

    Hello all guys
I am working on a document in which i need information about the process of change management for oracle bpm (for example versioning of projects and so on).
I have already the document for deploying in which is the information for versioning projects and deploying...
Does anyone know where i could get information related to change management for bpm enterprise???
I've been searching on oracle university and the web in general but i can't find any information.
Any information provided is really helpfull
    Thanks in advance guys :)

    Hi Srikanth,
It's a good question and I hope this helps.
My short answer is that "it depends...".
Yes, an Oracle BPM process will let your users enter the change required, assign priority, define the change approvals, and send automatically send emails to managers.
Not saying that this is the case here, but sometimes people confuse an application with what BPM does with a process.  Ask yourself if your candidate process for BPM has one or more of these characteristics:
Workflow - are there multiple people involved in the editing and approvals over some period of time?
Documentation - as work flows through the process, will you need to gather requirements / documents and associate these with the instance?
Seamless integration - are there systems and or databases involved that you need to integrate into the process?
Efficiency - do you want to ensure that your process continues to flow and escalates when a work item sits too long in someone's queue?
Governance - do you need to have an audit trail of the various people who were involved as a work item instance (a change approval in your case) flowed through the process?
Compliance - do you need to have the change management instances go through a process in a consistent and well documented manner?
Visibility - do you need to gather key performance indicators as instances flow through the process and do managers need to track these in business activity monitoring reports?
    Hope this helps,

    Hi,
We have a requirement to automate the change management process. Typical functionality needed is - input the change required, assign priority, organise risk assessment, change approvals, change implementation, send automatic emails to managers etc.
Is BPM a best fit to this kind of Change Management Process?

  • Tracking Change Management in P6

caveat: We don't use Contract Manager / Expedition<br
    />
We do use Timesheets for time entry and
    status of activities
    Ok, in P6 we
are trying to track change management. Maybe not the full
workflow that passes from individual to individual. We are
looking at two ways to track that the Project Manager is
    doing his job.
    First, we may use
steps. The project control specialist would get
communication from the PM and the PCS would then enter a
step with info provided by the PM. At completion the PM
would acknowledge that the change management process has
been completed via timesheets (check it complete)<br
    />
Or we may use Issues. Same idea as above
but I believe with issues we could take advantage of the
"discuss" button in the client and track history. Pitfall
    - MyPrimavera does not show the history. <br
    />
Anyone else trying to track a
    Plan-Do-Check-Act type of event?
    <br
    />Thanks,
    Patrick

    Hi Cherry,
what about your TMS configuration. Did you switched to extended transport control and modified your transport landscape to transport groups?
Please check your project with: /n/tmwflow/charmchk.  The result could be helpful for error analysis concerning wrong tms configuration.
    kind regards

  • Change Management configuration

    Hi Guys,
We have solution manager 7.0 with latest support pack stack. We have a requirement of configuring service desk with change management. I have configured service desk and it is working.
I am not bale to understand how to configure Change management and how will it works. Can you guys send me the link for configuring change management and how we will test it.
Is service desk configuration is required for change management??
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,
    Bhanu Pratap Singh

    Hi,
ChaRM is basically based on Service Desk. But if you do not want to there is no need to use Service Desk features.
You may create Change Requests and Change Documents without Service Desk.
Usually you get an incident via Support Message. This Support Message contains all the required information. If the problem cannot be fixed without a change in the SAP system, then you will create a Change Request from Support Message. The request will also contain most of the information from support message. The Change Manager then approves or denies the Change Request. If he approves it then a Change Document (normal correction in most cases) will be created. This normal correction is tied to a project in solution manager which contains your system landscape and (basically) controls what will happen with the transports assigned to each normal correction.
It is possible to customize (approval) workflows by your needs.
ChaRM configuration can be done by following the IMG path for Change Management.
There are also some (more or less up-to-date) Web Blogs in this forum about that topic.
    Hope this helps.

  • BOM Validity - Using Engineering Change Management

    Hello All,
We are currently reviewing the ECM functionality to assistn in BOM validity maintenance. I have made the necessary changes in SPRO to activate this functionality. My initial testing utilizing the Change Master and associating it with the BOM works fine. However, the question I had was more around having to make retroactive changes. I noticed that the system using the Entered or Created date from the transaction to determine the BOM validity. Is there anyway to influence the BOM validiy to look at document dateof the transaction instead of entered date? Has anyone run into this type of issue before?
    Thanks for your help.
    Gus

    Hi Krishna,
You can use change numbers to change independent (recipe) formula in the PLM-Recipe Management.
The object formula is assigned to the object type specification (type 60 of the change management).
For the object type specification the use of the object management record is not supported in the SAP standard.
Only the change documents are available.

  • Change Management integration with Project Administration

    Hi,
Could someone help me understand the integration of Change Management and Project Administration within Solution Manager, pls? I would be very grateful for a sample process to demonstrate the complete workflow. Eg.
    1) Support Messages is created
    2) Change Request is created from Support Message
    3) A project is created for the Change Request
    4) ??? What about the blueprint, configuration, testing, learning features? How do they integrate with CHARM?
    x) at the end, how does the project created for the Change Request integrate with the project that documents the business process? I mean, if the actual processes of an R/3 system are documented in a SolMan project, and a Change Request is processed, how do I modify the general project with the change project?
This is absolutely not clear either in the on-line help or in the book "SAP Solution Manager"
    Thanks in advance,

I am not quite clear what exactly is your requirement here. Change Request Management and Project management are different in their ways. You can handle the documenation tasks through your project management and ChaRM is used for the changes.
