    Hi Vishwa,
It depends on the storage area that you have maintained in the sap system for the documents. The customisation in the sap system is visible at IMG-->Cross Application Components -->Document Management --> General Data --> Settings for storage system. The storage area that you configure here will be linked to the DIR creation process.
The SAP DMS is a file directory in the SAP server and a content server is a seperate Sap certified server usually maintained for handling files. However these topics are much more broader and you can have an overview by checking the following link www.verbellacmg.com/ulm211_v2.ppt

  • Access DMS document throgh CRM

    Dear Gurus,
Is it possible to access DMS document throgh CRM.
Is there any object available for CRM like customer compalints, Solution provided Excetra...,
Can any one share the doc for CRM-DMS object config.
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, but you need to create a RFC Connection between your CRM system and ECC6. SAP DMS itself is not available in the CRM system so the RFC connection needs to be in place in order to use it.
    From the Help Files:
    Integrating Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
    Usage
Integrating Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) lets you link documents from the PLM Document Management System (DMS) with documents from CRM such as contracts, opportunities, and activities.
    Integration
To use PLM in CRM, you require SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) 4.70 and higher. If you want to use SAP EPR 4.6c, you require SAP Note 620160.
    Prerequisites
You have maintained the RFC connections to PLM. For more information, see the Implementation Guide at Customer Relationship Management ® Basic Functions ® Content Management ® Maintain RFC Connections to PLM.
    Features
Integration is only available for the People-Centric UI.
Change markings in PLM documents are not displayed in the PC-UI.
    The following functionalities are available:
    ·        You can use the PLM DMS to link PLM DMS documents directly to the following objects, or to delete the links:
    ¡        CRM business objects
If you assign a PLM document to a CRM business object, it appears in the PLM Documents folder.
    ¡        Sales contracts
    ¡        Sales documents
    ¡        Business partners
    ¡        Products
    ·        Finding PLM Documents
You can also find PLM documents in CRM by the following properties:
    ¡        User-defined text
    ¡        Document number
    ¡        Document type
    ¡        Version number
    ¡        Status
    ¡        Description
    ¡        User
    ¡        Part
For PLM documents, the Creator field in CRM Content Management specifies the Person Responsible from PLM.
The full-text search only searches the document long text and not the content of the document itself .
There is only a full-text search in the document long text, not in the document content itself.
    ·        Jump to PLM WebDocuments as of SAP ERP 4.70

  • Define Workstation Application per document type

    Hello friends
Is it possible to restrict some worstation application per document type?
I mean, for a specific document type only XLS files are allowed?
    Thanks in advance
    Luis Ike

    Hi Luis,
yes you can define it in the customizing:
Logistics - General - Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) - Document Management - Control Data - Define Document Types
Select a document type and check details. There you can define a default WS application.
If you define it to XLS and you do not assign XLS to any other document types then I think you can reach what you want.
    Best regards

  • Detail screen in

I am carrying out an excercise in DMS ,where it states:-
Create the following document structure in the document:
    Document: PLM ##
    Document type: FOL
    Document part: 000
    Document version: 00
    Change number: No entry
    Valid from date: Today.s date
You can now enter several documents in the "detail screen":
Item       item type      Document     Type     TID    Vs     Quantity
    10          D                 td01
My question was, where is this "detail screen" (eith item type, quantity, item,TID)?
I can't see it in the 'document browser' tab page and neither in the basic data 'gen document' tab page.
I created the above PLM02 document from the 'document browser' in a previous task & on ECC6 'CV02/02' TRANSACTIONS.(just FYI)
    can someone assist please ?
    Thanks

    Thanks all, I got it

  • Error printing pick list from IW32

    Hi all,
When trying to print pick list from transaction IW32, I get this error message:
Express document "Update was terminated" received from author ...
When I checked out this error message in SM13, I found this:
    Transaction code: IW32
    Module name (function): PM_ORDER_PRINT_CONTROL
    Status: Update was terminated
Raise exception: KEY_NOT_FULLY_SPECIFIED (Complete key not entered)
The shop paper (pick list) is customer defined (Z*) under application area O (Maintenance orders). This shop paper is set up to print to a certain printer, P1, and printing other PLM documents on this output device works fine.
Does anyone have an idea what can be causing this error?
All helpful answers will be rewarded.
    Best regards,
    MV

    Hi,
I have tried to print the pick list several times, in development, test, and production systems. It fails with the same error each time.
Do you have any ideas why this error occurs, is there any special IMG activity or PLM configuration that I could check to see if some printer settings are wrong?
    Regards,
    MV

  • Product Compliance Integration

    Hi All
I need information on integration points of product compliance with the following objects.
    1. With CAD and PLM systems.
         No idea about this.
    2. With PLM ( Document Managment system)
        a. As per my understanding you need to implement coustmer exit CV110001 for this.
         b. Other way around would be through material master for which DIR is liked, and material is linked to CDO
through Basic / Compliance view. Hope my understanding is correct for this.
    3. With Purchase Info records
My understanding on this,  CDO linked to material masters through Basic / Compliance view, and this material is
used for creation of purchase info records . Not sure about this, please correct if I am wrong.
    4. With Sale order
My understanding on this,  CDO linked to material masters through Basic / Compliance view, and this material is
used for creation of sales order. Not sure about this, please correct if I am wrong.
    5. With Business Context viewer.
        No idea about this.

  • Kpro, vaults & content server

    Hello all
what is a 'knowledge provider' in simple terms. ?
contrary to a DMS secure storage area (which is always) a SAP database.
so would anyone tell me what is a kpro with an example please.
also what's a 'vault' {other than the obvious}  and a 'content server' ? with an example please.
    Thanks

    hi,
The SAP Content Server is a separate and server based component to store content such as electronic documents originating from different formats. The SAP Content Server ist provided by development of technology and is to be used cross application for any SAP applications. He is to be installed on a separate system. Typical content is training material and documentation from Knowledge Warehouse or technical drawings originating from mySAP PLM Document Management System.
Kpro n wledge Provider (KPro) is a generic document management infractructure,KPro is the standard document management infrastructure of the SAP Web Application Server, formerly known as the Basis system. KPro offers a wide range of document management functions, such as check-in, check-out, logical hyperlinks, and versioning. The fundamental concepts of KPro are protected by US Patent 6,134,552.
Knowledge Provider (KPro) is the standard document management infrastructure of SAP Web Application Server (formerly known as the Basis system). As such, it is a service which is part of every SAP Web Application Server system.
KPro is a (mostly) invisible service layer that can manage any kind of document. It can be deployed by any SAP application in order to manage and maintain documents and document content in a sophisticated manner.
KPro uses the component SAP Content Server to store document content. In other words, SAP Content Server stores the documents that KPro manages and maintains. SAP Content Server runs on a separate computer that hosts an Internet Information Server (IIS), SAP extensions, and a database (with SAP's DBMS SAP DB). The database is installed as part of SAP Content Server.

  • ICWC and SAP DMS

    Hi all.
Searching trough the web and foruns I've read that it is possible to link a workflow to a DMS document. It is also possible more files to a DMS Document.
My question is: can I, trough ICWC, acess a workflow and any links it has and also acess/add/remove any link on the workflow?
In my case SAP R/3 is not implemented, only CRM.
I haven't been able to find any mention to this either in sdn.sap or help.sap.
Thanks in advance for your time.

  • Conversion server for CATIA V5

    Hi,
is it mandatory to install a conversion server along with SAP PLM 7.01. I understand the conversion server is used for converting CAD specific files to neutral formats like RH / STEP / IGES. These files (*.RH) can then be used for the CAD viewer in PLM document (SAP PLM 7.01).
Can't the CAD files (*.catprt / autocad files/ solidworks files) be directly visualised using the RH viewer.
Is there any official site which mentions file formats to be used directly with RH viewer (without conversion server)
    regards

    Bonjour,
