Hi ,
My client want to Implement PLM module ,I am new to PLM , how can i configure PLM in ECC 6.0.Is there any prerequsite like any support packs do i need to import for this . Please suggest me .Earliest response is highly appreciated.

Q4_How to manage software material and BOM in SAP_High-tech Industry PLM Implementation Issues

We are implementing SAP PLM for a high-tech company which designs and manufactures mobile phones (ODM). Since we are new in PLM consulting and we are facing with some implementation difficulties, we are looking for some solutions here.
Question 4: How to manage software material and BOM in SAP?
Currently, software are not managed as material in the BOM. How to manage software material in PLM, can anyone help us with some suggestions.
Question 5: PADS integration with PLM.
Currently, customer is using Pro/E and PADS to design their product. SAP has already provided standard interface for Pro/E integration. But for PADS, there is no such interface. Because of the specialization of electrical components managed in PADS, different from structural parts in Pro/E, how to transfer them between PLM system and manage them in the PLM system has become an difficulty. We will appreciate a lot if anyone can share us with some successful solutions.

software, typically a released version of software, is typically managed as a normal material master, and a related document with the code as a package (e.g. ZIP), if really needed.
Software in development is managed typically with a dedicated Software Configuration Management tool like Rational ClearCase, Subversion, MKS Integrity, ....

Are EA-PLM and PLM the same thing?

Experts:
If they are the same thing, I think ECC6.0 comes with PLM full version. Therefore there is no seperate PLM installation.
BTW, how do basis admin help with PLM implementation?

Yes ECC6.0 comes with complete PLM solution ,may be some components you need to activate with separate licensining agreement.
In PLM implementation Basis person has to create and maintain roles for PLM users. Also if you use EP components in PLM implementation then the server administration will be managed by Basis consultant.
Some PLM modules as DMS,contenet server management and configuration is responsibility of Basis person.
So basically all PLM roles and server maintainace is done by Basis.

Content server

Hi Friends,
         I am in PLM implementation project. I have a reqt in content server.
        All the DMS users are connected to a single server but geographically located at different locations. To avoid the traffic, some of the local unit related documents has to be stored in their local content server. But Users should have the option of saving the original in Centralized content server or local Content server depends on the reqt.
         For eg. users in Location-1 can store only in his local server and central server. Similarly users in Location-2 can store only in his local server and central content server not in location-1's local server.
         As we know that it is possible, which is the optimum way to configure this?.

Partially your requirement can be met by configuration steps in DMS configuration .
you can make a stoarge category automatically defaulted to a particular user . This means whenever a user checks in an original , system check it to a local server automatically (based on the configuration ) but cannot check in it to a central server for a given condition automatically .
in simple words only one storage category for ws application type can be defaulted for automatic checking and for a choice of storage ares,,,user needs to do it manually
Spro--> Cross Application components --> Document Management > General data>Define Profile
Here is a suggestion though,,,,,for distributed content....
I havent see any requmnt of openeing and "editing "originals and sharing between global locations very frequently ,,,even if it is true those might be smaller files . So if its Displaying the files between global locations , then deploying cache servers is the solution

I am getting the below error while activating the sap Fiori applications
Task Facade not implemented for provider. [/IWBEP/CX_MGW_TECH_EXCEPTION] (error).
I have applied all suggestions in my new fiori system from Masayuki Sekihara posted on his post.
but still I am getting same error message.
I got below error message.
1) If I selected a EC6FIORI system alias to ZTASKPROCESSING services then i got below error message.
Task Facade not implemented for provider.

PLM Web UI problems loading everything

Does anyone have tips on getting any piece of the PLM to work? We have installed and setup everything as the installation guide requests.
We have not done anything in SPRO yet. We were under the impression it should work out of the box. For most of the applications we run, we get an error something like this:

Other issues, maybe it is related.
I noticed after doing a syntax check on some of them, it had IF_FPM_UI_BUILDING_BLOCK under the implemented interfaces and had a big red triangle exclamation point saying does not exist. I searched OSS with no results.
Anyone seen this before?

PLM: Business Events Documentation

Hi,
I can't find proper documentation of the PLM Business Events. The PLM/PIM Implementation Guides provide only a list of event names but no further information on when these are raised and which parameters can be used when subscribing or writing custom code. Metalink Doc.ID 372814.1
('Using Business Events in PLM and PIM Data Librarian') covers EGO events only, not ENG events.
Could you please provide me with further documentation sources? Is there any central point of information dealing with seeded Business Events in eBS
in general? Is there any other way I can find out more about how a BE is defined (e.g. a database view providing it's parameters)?

BADI implementation for importing values from excel

Hi All,
This is my first ever post in this forum and I am a newbie in ABAP. I have this doubt rather I would say I am stuck while implementing a BADI for importing Excel values.
We have a BADI for 'Upload flow rate' button which is built on PLM frame work on webdynpro.
The requirement is that after clicking the ' 'Upload flow rate' button it should prompt for selecting the excel file and after selecting that file, the values should get loaded to the internal table.
what I have tried till now is that

I tried hard coding the xls file but it gives error as 'CNTL_error' which I guess is a known issue when we use this function module in webdynpro.
So how can I get the values from excel without using datasource and just by hard coding the file name?

There is no solution to this - SAP have said they will re-introduce this functionality, but they havent said when (as far as I am aware).
However, we have developed a workaround (for Web reports anyway), let me know if you are interested.

Reg: Can I code in standard implementation of a BADI "WCM_DECOUPLING"

Hi all,
I'm trying to use a BADI (WCM_DECOUPLING) for transaction IW32. But when I tried to create an implementation for this BADI in SE19, it is throwing the following error "BADI definition WCM_DECOUPLING is only provided for SAP internal use".
Then I've checked the attributes of this BADI in se18, an option "within SAP" is checked.
I've checked the old threads also, but I couldn't find any help to use this BADI somehow.
MY QUESTION: later, I've found using transaction SE84 that this BADI is already implemented by standard SAP in the name
"WCM_DECOUPLING_IMPL" and activated. But, it's runtime behavior is shown as "EA-PLM is deactivated; implementation will not be called". Can I use this standard implementation to code my changes or validations.

I've adapted the same method (SE24) to find this BADI. I see other BADIs doesn't have the required parameters flowing in. That is the reason why I am trying to some how implement this BADI.
My requirement: After creating work order in Iw31, a list of people has to approve the work order by using permit (ech one will have the unique permit key). For this a pop window containing table control of permit keys listed in the order is provided.
I've to place a check/validation to ensure that these permits are approved in the same order as it has to be done.
for example: 1) Functional head 2) General manager 3) Managing director
I've also searched for user exits, but, on that is suitable for this req is not working.
Please suggest me a method to do this.
or
if I create ZBADI i.e. ZWCM_DECOUPLING, will this be called inside the standard program? will the exit handler call this?
Please give me your suggestion.

New to SAP PLM ( I need advice pls)

Hi,
I will appreciate some advice please.
I'm interested in SAP and plan to gain certification in SAP PLM (Project Management Modules), but I've not got any SAP experience. I've got under 3yrs experience in Project Administrator, Support and Coordinator type roles, got my Certification in PRINCE 2 Practitioner level, Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Practitioner level, PPSO and ITIL foundation level.
Where will you advice I place myself looking for a SAP role, Iu2019m not looking to get a consultancy type role or anything like that, just something that will get me into the SAP career path with my project background.
Also is SAP PLM the best or only focus for me given my Project background?
Finally, any advice on companies that will consider someone with my profile?

Hi Lois,
EH&S is part of the PLM Extension.
The software component is EA-APPL (SAP Enterprise Extension PLM, SCM, Financials).
That means that EH&S is not independent from the PLM extension.
In SAP configuration you should activate the PLM extension in order to use EH&S. Some parts of EH&S (ECM objects, SAP Menu entries, ...) will be in place when activating the PLM extension.

PLM Standalone document management

Hi,
Has anyone implemented SAP PLM as a standalone document management solution? We are considering migrating from another doc mgmt system, but may not have budget to do a full ERP (ECC6) implementation at the same time.

Hi Jennifer
I'd suggest you try get a DMS consultant in, even if its only for a blueprint confirmation or for some basic help on the implementation, SAP DMS is technically not a difficult module to implement but matching the business processes to the system is a little harder. Its also good because often things don't work quite as well in theory as they do in practice, and with the work required to migrate documents to a DMS, its not the sort of thing you want to do again. There are also a number of standard enhancements you should always add to SAP DMS for specific scenarios and without a history of working with SAP DMS, you wouldn't be aware of without a history with SAP DMS (SAP doesn't automatically supersede old versions of documents for example) so although it may seem like a lot of work to put these enhancements in place, its this exact flexibility that allows SAP DMS to be so good.
In my experience, there are very few bad document management systems, but lots of bad document management implementations.
If you want to play around with it, have a go, there are a number of config guides and blueprints floating around SDN.

Autocad-PLM Integration issue

Dear PLM Experts,
We need to Implement Autocad-PLM Integration with Cideon Software interface. The basic cycle is working fine.
I have the few questions for which i need more clarity. (We are using Autocad 2011 and Cideon Interface 6.1)
1. The Creation of Material Master is happening by defining the Reference Point,Ballon & Creation of Ballon Material Master .
Is there is any way, by taking the drawing reference, the Part list and the Material needs to be created(without defining the Part reference and ballon)
2. The business already using X-steel and tekla for steel Detaling process..........when i convert these drawing into Autocad, the drawing is Exploded in 1:100 Ratio. How to avoid this... Ex: Poly lines drw are broken into different pieces
3. Drawing creation through AutoDesk and SAP Tab(Icon) through RFC......whats the difference between these two..
4. How to add/Customize columns in the Part list as per our requirement

Please provide more details how you solved this. What is the Frame you are referring to? The only Frame referece I see in AutoCAD help is in regards to a system variable that turns frames on or off for external references. We are getting titleblock attributes to update between SAP and Vanilla AutoCAD but it is not working for AutoCAD Mechanical.
