PLM iviews

We are and FDA regulated company and as part of that we are required to store our operating procedures in a secure environment so they can not be changed without the proper authority.  But while they are stored there we need to be able to give access to people to read.  We recently implemented PLM and now I am looking for an iview (besides the search document transaction iview) that will let me display these procedures.  Will the PLM Business Package accomplish this, if so where can I find the download or does anyone have any ideas how to view specific numbered documents within PLM through EP.

The business package should be listed on this website.  Go to downloads -> Portal Content Portfolio.  If there is a PLM Business package it will be there.  You can download it there too.  Probably the most important thing though is you also have the documentation there for the business package, including a list of iviews and what they do.

  • SAP PLM iview error

    Hello everyone,
I have implemented R3_PLM business package into EP6SP2. When I try to preview the iviews, I get an error " Could not establish connection with the R3_PLM system". I have a SSO between Portal and R3. Can anyone let me know how do I go about this problem?
    Thanks,

  • Does PLM UI 7 work with just TREX?

We implemented PLM 7 and we are using the user interface on the portal. We setup the TREX connection on the backend and that is working correctly. However the search is not working on the portal. My question is can we configure the search to work with just TREX or do we have to install Enterprise Search to enable the search for render on the portal?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello Storm!
So, you have PLM 7 and the search setup via Embedded Search against a TREX 7.1, right?
As such, this is completely disconnected from the Portal search that only cares about the Portal's KM repository, portal pages and potentially 3rd party stores connected through the so-called Repository Framework of the Portal's KM.
You want to show PLM results in the Portal? There are three ways that I can think of:
    1) You simply find or create a PLM iView that bases on the PLM search functionality. This will create a dedicated PLM-search in the Portal. It will not display PLM results alongside any other results.
As an additional option you could create a generic search iView and several listeners to it on the same portal page. You can then enter queries in the one generic iView and let the listening iViews pass the string to e.g. a PLM search, a KM search and any other search iView on the page. This will still give you separate results, but at least triggered by only one search and all on the same page.
    2) Connect the PLM DMS to the KM'S Repository Framework with the available Repository Manager for PLM DMS. This will bring up PLM DMS results (if your issue is mainly about DMS?) in the same result list and ranked in-line with any other sources of the Portal search. However, this solution does not re-use the index you have built in PLM 7. It redundantly indexes everything again in the Portal's index.
    3) You could also buy SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search (NWES), in that case re-use your PLM-7-built index in NWES (no redundant re-indexing), connect the regular Portal search into NWES and then replace the Portal search in the Portal UI by NWES. The latter should be documented with SAP Portal 7.0 SP 18.
And, yes, we are planning to have a more straightforward integration of these search approaches in the future.
    Best, Karsten

  • Access DMS documents from MDM ??

    Hello folks
We have a customer that has SAP DMS (Document Management System from SAP ERP) where the product image files are stored on a SAP Content Server.
We are planning to implement MDM for rich product catalogue whereby end-users access MDM via Portal, but we need to access some documents on DMS too.
I know that there is standard PLM iviews that shows DMS documents linked to a Material, can we use these iviews to modify them so that they are launched on request of user after browsing in MDM iviews (managing same material numbers) ?
Has anyone of you made this ?
Any hint/help on this is most welcome !
    Thanks
    /Sooriya

    Hi Sooriya,
We can get the Product ID from MDM Standard iview through EPCF Eventing. Based on that ID, we can fetch the documents from DMS.
I am new to DMS. Can you please share some information on fetching document links from DMS through standard or APIs?
In my scenario, i have to fetch the documents link from DMS for all Master records and store the link in MDM. Also, when a new master s created in MDM, I have to attach/upload documents for the master record and store the document link in MDM. The actual document is present in DMS. When I send the newly created Master data to ECC, I have to link the Master data and the documents in ECC also.
    Your help is greatly appreciated!

  • Empty iViews in PLM Business Packages (Enter Asset, Enter Project etc)

    Hi All,
We are implementing SAP PLM Business Packages 50.3.1 in SAP EP 6.0 SP16 with a SAP 4.7 backend.
We have noticed that certain iViews do not seem to work correctly - they display no entry fields at all.  For instance, in the Assets Business Package, the Asset Details Page contains a Choose Asset iView in which you can choose either Functional Location or Equipment.  When choosing either of these, the Enter Asset iView should refresh and display the appropriate entry field.  ie. either 'Enter Functional Location' or 'Enter Equipment'.  Instead, it displays absolutely nothing (ie. the Enter Asset iView remains blank).  This problem also occurs for projects in the Projects business package.
Has anybody seen and resolved this behaviour for the PLM business packages?
Any useful thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated and rewarded.
    Regards
    John Moy

    Hi All,
Thanks for the responses.  Thanks to your input, I have solved the problem.  Basically, we are working on copied versions of the pages and iViews (ie. copied into our custom folder in PCD).  Our users do not have access to the original SAP iViews.
I noticed (after reading the documentation page 116 which you referenced), that for our copy of the component loader, the parameter Java_IView_Directory was still pointing to the standard SAP location, which our users have no access to.  This explains why the iViews are blank.  When I amend this parameter to point to our custom location, everything works!
Thanks again for your input.  Points awarded.

  • Iviews not visible in SAP PLM 7.0 portal.

    Good morning,
When i navigate to 'Product engineering' tab in the portal, there are a set of iviews available in the content area.
    These are :-
    1. Work environment.
    2. Search
    3. My contexts.
    4. My objects..
These iview headers are visible with the title but no content of these iviews are visible/accessible.
On clicking on the expand tray/collapse tray icon there is no action. (All i could make out is that there is a thin line added when i click on the expand tray icon).
There is no way i can access these iviews.
Is there something i am missing out ?
    Request some pointers/inputs here.
    regards,
    abhishek
P.S : I am not sure if this issue with iviews has anything to do with the version of java installed (mine is  1.6.0_16)

    HI  Abhishek
i understand u are using EP for hosting the SAP PLM 7.0 module. have u tried using the netweaver business client ?
Can u send in detail the procedure u have adopted for Installation of PLM 7.0 & hosting in EP?
Also what function have u activated apart from teh WEB-UI?
Or is ur issue resolved ?

  • Connecting SAP PLM system to iview portal.

Hi experts i want one clarification on process of connecting SAP PLM system to iview portal.
here my scenario is SAP PLM->>>XI--->>>WEBSERVICES
    RFC-->>XI--->>>>SOAP
1---->>here i have to get the list of all materials from SAP PLM using iview as
    front end tool.
2---->>and the next thing is if the material is camera means it should require the
lengs software for the camera. In the iview we can select the material
    for upgrated software.
3--->>after that the input parameters wil be sent to webservices
(some website) using XI part(mapping and all) and the response should come back then it has
to be stored in the SAP PLM system.
please clear me all the above questions.
    thanks & regards
    babu

    HI,
    See
    1) Request is sent from the Portal.
    2) Web Dynpro application is called through the URL.
    3) Web Dynpro app makes use of Web Service based Model in sending SOAP request to XI.
    4) SOAP adapter converts the incoming SOAP message into XI Message.
    5) Synchronous call is made from XI to R3 backend using RFC adapter.
    6) Response is mapped and routed back as SOAP message.
Necessary design steps in interface objects, mapping objects and Business process are created according to the functional requirements.
Sender Soap Communication channel is setup in Configuration along with other essential configuration steps.
WSDL is generated for the message interface in Integration Directory using Tools-->Define Web service.
Override the default URL with following while generating WSDL.

  • Call Existing Asset IViews from Web Dynpro using eventing

    Hi,
I am trying to pass a Equipment Number from one of my WebDynPro's converted to IVIEW to a stock IVIEW from SAP called Create Notification.
Basically I followed the example and coded
    WDPortalEventing.fire("urn:com.sap.pct.plm:NotificationCreate", "equipmentID", "32000140");
I got the URN from the properties of Content Management of the  portal as far as event and parameter how can I find this out since I don't have access to SAP's code.
Any help would greatly be appreciated
    Cheers,
    Devlin
(A java developer trying to get my hands around the SAP implementation)

    Hi Devlin,
I am not sure if my post can help. In the first iView u are firing a portal event with a function name.
The namespace with the function name act as a signature.
In the second iview we have to subscribe to this using the same signature.
(Second iview)And in the place of argument called action give the name of a action which has a string parameter with the name dataObject. This will have the value you have passed.

  • EHS & PLM integration in EP6

    Hi experts,
Currently we have integrated EAM/PLM and EHS on ECC 6 EhP4.
Later the user access will be limited to the Enterprise Portal 6.0 for those modules.
For the moment I have implemented the following business packages :
    - BP for assets 50.3
    - BP for PLM WD (SP6)
    - BP for EHS 50.1 (plus patch for EP6)
But with those iViews you cannot create/modify/delete any elements. You can just display information on the elements.
    So my questions are :
    - How can I implement iViews for modifying module's elements?
    - Does our SAP developers team have to make specific developments? Or does it already exist?
    - Does BSP or Webdynpro ABAP applications already exist on the ECC6?
Thanks for helping me for those search

    Hi,
PLM 7.0 which came out with EhP4 is providing a WebDynpro user interface to material, document, BOM, change number.
This can be embedded in the NW Portal, NW Business Client or run standalone.
See this link: [http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/en/fc/30f52becb143aaa23aeecc5eb2cfcb/frameset.htm], incl. related Business Package.
Depending on which area of EH&S and EAM you are talking about, there are also WebDynpro based applications available already as far as I know.

  • PLM search (wda_sea_qs) gives page not found when started from portal

In NWBC the PLM search works fine. For result it starts the result webdynpro.
We use PLM from the portal so I have created an iview for the webdynopro wda_sea_qs.
When I click on advanced search or search for something the navigation to the other webdynpro's is not working.
All we get is an new portal page with the message "page not found"
How can I configure the search to work correct from the portal?
    Greetings
    Rob

I found the answer via this link:
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/en/1c/ffdf5fd56444748bb6af29d796d75a/frameset.htm
The iView should contain the following Application Parameter:
                               FRW_SYSAlias=<System>
    This solved the problem.

  • Problems with BP PLM 50.3.1

    Dear Reader
I have download the BP 50.3.1 for Products/Assets/Projects --> migrate them into a EP 6.0.
At the Backend R/3 i have 2003.1 Plugin and a
    Portal Plugin: WP-PI.
The Iview's works fine, but when i select a material which holds a document i have a NullPointException.
This NullPoitException is caused by an applet class (downloadapplet.class), which could not be found.
Now i found this class in a package of BP but why the class is not found by the iview?
Material without a document doesn't cause this Exception.
The SAP-Note 642775 which include latest information about general installation prerequisites and configuration
for EP 6.0 does also not exist.
    I'm confused with this thing!

  • PLM portal - clarifications

    Hi All,
I am new to the PLM portal .
Currently i am working in the project where PLM ( Portal & ECC) landscape is up and runnung, but i have couple of questions which are to be clarified. please do the needful.
In the PLM portal how the portal objects like (Iviews, pages, workset, roles) get into the portal, as i gone thru the properties of many objects says that those are created by "SAP", then in that case how the objects are handledsd either from business package deployment of PLM in portal or it comes along with SAP PLM ECC box ?? please clarify
As i found those are SAP standard portal objects , some are java webdynpro and some are ABAP webdynpro objects, are those not implemented or comes by default alongwith portal??
Please get back to me on the same then it would be great help to me.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    PortalUser100

Currently we are using ECC 7.0 system, but i have one dought.
I think you mean ECC 6.0 since there is no ECC7.0 system available yet.
Do you have any specific documentation how to deploy the PLM business package in portal, currently i am seeing some of the objects are ABAP Webdynpro and other are JAVA Webdynpro. but i dont have any clue where these objec ts gets created in portal, do we need to create those thru PLM/PLV template in portal or objects are already available in portal after deployment of business package?
The deployment of the business package is similar to the deployment of any other business package. You will just need to download the .SCA file for the business package from SMP based on your versions and deploy it onto your portal using SDM or JSPM.
After you deploy the business package - all the portal content is available for your use.
Please let me know the complete picture of this PLM integration with Portal, that would be great help to us.
I am not sure how to give you a "complete picture" in one forum post.
Please go through the help link I have given above and search on SDN for other possible information. If you have specific questions, please post them here.
Currently i am seeing that all the ABAP Webdynpro objects in ECC 7.0 are SAP Standard ABAP components, not even they created single new object.
can you tell me more on this ??
You create custom objects/applications if you need to. The whole idea of the business package is to utilize ready-to-use applications delivered by SAP.

  • Can not view ABC iView on tablet

I am unable to get ABC iView to work on a 10 inch tablet with Android 4. iView works perfectly with the 'Dolphin' browser but I only get a blank screen after iView says to "Tap here to activate plugin".

I have tried that and now I just get a blank screen instead of the "Tap here to activate plugin" message. I have also tried disabling plugins and then get ABC's opening screen with the warning "Your browser does not seem to be supported. iView requires Adobe Flash Player 10 and Javascript to be enabled". There are no such add-ons for android in the Mobile Add-ons page.
I was assuming they are built in to the Android version of FireFox because many web sites require them.

  • Open iView in new WINDOW for CATW

    HI All,
We are on Netweaver2004s and the browser used is either Internet Explorer 7 (Microsoft Vista) or Mozilla Firefox.
Now what I need help on is that I have a link on my page that says "Report Your Time", this link calls the Internet Service CATW via the  ITS from my R/3 and opens the TIMESHEET (which is an iView) to be filled in by the user <b>in a new window</b>.
On this TIMESHEET I have a link called as "EXIT" , now after the timesheet is filled and saved, the user should use this "EXIT" link to leave the window. The code behind "EXIT" is so written by SAP that it kills the user's session. But not always and all user's use this "EXIT" link, they generally close the window by browser's (X) close button. This causes the user to get locked in the backend.
So far I have been able to trap the browser's (X) close button and kill the session by using "setOKCode('/nex')". This works fine in I.E 6 (which has no tabs) and if the user <b>closes</b> Mozilla Firefox from the top (X) close button of the browser.
BUT, in I.E 7 and mozilla firefox, when the user clicks on "<u>Report Your Time</u>" link on my page, a new tab opens and the TIMESHEET is displayed on this tab within the same browser window, so after filling and saving the timesheet when the user closes the (TIMESHEET) <b>tab</b>, the session does not get killed and the user gets locked in the backend. Here, <b>if</b> the user had closed the entire browser window by using the  the top (X) close button of the browser, instead of just closing the <b>tab</b> containing the TIMESHEET, then his session would have been killed by my code.
This is the code that identifies if the user has clicked on  top (X) close button of the browser. <b>But this code does not identify if a browser's tab is closed.</b>
    <BODY onbeforeunload="HandleOnClose()">
    <script language="javascript">
    <!--
    function HandleOnClose() {
       if (event.clientY < 0) {
          event.returnValue = 'Are you sure you want to leave the page?';
In the above I check clientY property of the event object, which is used to set or retrieve the y-coordinate of the mouse pointer's position relative to the client area of the window, excluding window decorations and scroll bars.
Is there a way to capture the closing of a browser's tab. A way by which I can trap the event raised when the browser window's tab is closed.
This has to be done via "Java Script" since the code will be placed in the HTML template in SE80.
Kindly help with your expert suggestions
    Regards
    Saurabh

    Hi Aviad,
You could set "fullscreen=yes" (without quotes) for the property called "Window Features" (technical name: "com.sapportals.portal.navigation.WinFeatures") on the navigation element in question (iView or, if existent, surrounding page). Take care, this opens the window without frame and toolbar (closable by ALT-F4).
To get a 100% screen (with toolbar, frame etc), you have to calculate the clients resolution before, using JS for example. So you would need to build a workaround, for example an iView with no output but opening a new window with a certain NavURL as target.
    Hope it helps

  • How can I use ONE Text search iView to event/affect mutliple Result Sets?

    hello everyone,
i have a special situation in which i have 6 flat tables in my repository which all have a common field called Location ID (which is a lookup flat to the Locations table).
i am trying to build a page with a free-form text search iView on Table #1 (search field = Location ID).  when I execute the search, the result set for Table #1 is properly updated, but how do I also get Result Set iViews for Tables #2-6 to also react to the event from Text Search for Table #1 so that they are updated?
i don't want to have to build 6 different text search iViews (one for each table).  i just want to use ONE text search iView for all the different result set tables.  but, in the documentation and iView properties, the text search iView doesn't have any eventing.
if you have any suggestions, please help.
    many thanks in advance,
    mm

    hello Donna,
that should not be a problem, since you are detailw with result sets and detail iviews because custom eventing can be defined for those iviews.
Yes, it says "no records" found because an active search and record selection havent' been performed for it (only your main table does).
So, yes, define a custom event, and pass the appropriate parameters and you should be fine.
Creating a custom event between a Result Set iView and an Item Details iView is easy and works. I have done it.
See page 35 of the Portal Content Development Guide for a step-by-step example, which is what I used.
For my particular situation, the problem I'm having is that I want the Search Text iView's event (i.e., when the Submit button is pressed) to be published to multiple iViews, all with different tables.  Those tables all share some common fields, which is what the Search iView has, so I'd like to pass the search critera to all of the iViews.
    -mm
