Plot graph with .txt data

Hi. I am doing on a project which i need to plot the graph of the data in text format.These data are data of solar reading.
I am able to plot the graph for Int_ana text file but unable to plot the graph for int_sma textfile. I also want to show the 2 graphs
of Ana and Sma sperarately.Please help me!

Convert a scatter graph with multiple data series into individual graphs

I am trying to convert a scatter graph with multiple data series into individual graphs, with the series having the same formatting as in the graph when all series are together.
Normally, if I delete any series, the color scheme for all the other series vanishes. I can then waste more time in having to re-adjust the color and shape of the series, but this is tedious. This, I do not want. Is there an automated way to do this?
Ideally, of course, all series would appear in little subsections in the space of the former one graph, all with individual axes, but I can't have all, so I'll settle with having several individual new graphs, each with just one series, and with the original
formatting.

How about creating a copy of the chart, and then setting all series except one to be transparent (no line, no marker)? Repeat for each series.

Updating graph with new data

I have a problem updating my graphs with new data in Illustrator. When I update them with new data each month the y and x-axis tend to change font and size.
What can be the problem? Please help me!

You can purchase the enterprise toolkit fron NI, it includes a "database connectivity toolkit".
As regards the design pattern to do you you describe, it will depends on the refresh rate you need and the rate at which you want to write your data to the database.
I would have 2 loops :
- one acquiring the data and putting it in a queue,
- and a second that get the data from the queue, logging data to database and refreshing the graph.
If the write time to database is too long and slows down the graph refresh you place it in another loop.

Linking x-axis of two graphs (with seperate data types)

Hi all,
I am plotting a sine wave and a resulting waveform generated after driving a component with that sine wave.
I have 2 data types:
i) One is a waveform - of the sine wave
ii) The other is a cluster - resulting from two arrays (DBL)
Ideally I would like to display both of these on a single plot. But I can't seem to do that. If you know how to do this, then please let me know.
So, the next solution was to display them on a waveform chart and XY-plot, respectively.
Is there some way of linking the x axis, such that when I zoom into one plot, I simultaneously zoom into the other?

If you are talking about the amplitude then it is the Y axis scale. Have a look here on how to add a second scale (http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=314415&query.id=105962#M314415).
Then you can have a separate scale for each plot. All plots on one graph with separate scales... you've got your cake and you can eat it too!

Print XY Graph with 600000 data without taking Snapshot of graph

Hi
I want to print a XY Graph with more than 600000 data with word format but the graph shouldn't be the snapshot can any body suggest please

A couple points:
First, just because the data you send to a graph has 600,000 datapoints in it, that doesn't mean that you will see 600,000 values in your graph. Unless you are using a monitor the size of a house, the graph won't have nearly enough resolution to show all the data. The data will get decimated down to the resolution that is available on the graph. If you don't do it, the graph will.
Second, what do you mean that it shouldn't be a "snapshot"?

4-quadrant plot (graph with axes passing through centre)

Hi guys,
Been away for a while, but now I'm back in to the swing of Labview again! I'm trying to create a system which presents data in an x-y graph, but I want the graph to have the x- and y-axis passing through the centre, rather than meeting at a corner.
I read this thread, but I couldn't figure out how to customise the graph the way Jake H suggested. I also saw this thread, but the solution proposed doesn't really do what I want. If there's any confusion over what I need to achieve, the hurriedly-drawn sketch (attached) should clarify things.

Hi Rob, thank you for your attention. Unfortunately, this solution isn't helping, for two reasons:
1) Even with autoscaling off, and the graph set with the low numbers on each axis to a negative number, the axes do not move to the centre.
2) I will need to autoscale the x-axis, as the upper and lower limits (while usually equal) will vary depending on the data being plotted.
Is there something else I can try? Many thanks.

Plotting graph with CPU's system time

Hi, I am new to labview and I am currently trying out some basic features like graph plotting which is a vital aspect for my project.
However, the graphs that I need to plot requires it to run with respect to my CPU's system time. This is something which I have not been able to implement after many attempts with the tools palette.
Could anyone show me the wiring to make the x-axis not start at 08:00:00 but according to my system's clock which is 22:23:00?

Linking lines on a graph with missing data

Hi
I am trying to produce line charts for a series of events. The way it will work is there are 15 days, and measurements are taken at uneven intervals, such as day 1, 2, 3, 7, 12, 13, 14. When I plot these, the line links the plot marks where they are just a day apart, like 1,2,3, leave a dot for 7 and then have a line between 13 and 14. How do I link the line so it can jump the days without any measured data?

What you are describing is what happens when you have empty rows in your data series. Numbers does not have the option of connecting points across a gap.
If you use a line chart (not the scatter chart), you can create a new series in your table that interpolates the missing points. Plot it as a second series with the same line color but no data points. Interpolation across a one row gap is easy to do. Interpolation across several rows is easy to do. Interpolation across a gap that might be one row or might be more is hard to do with a formula that works regardless of the size of the gap (I cannot think of a formula to do it off-hand).
If you use a scatter chart, you can use Reorganize to hide all rows where the Y data is blank. The remaining rows of data will plot and the dots will all be connected. If you don't want to hide rows in your data table, you can create a separate table that pulls in the data. Use that table for your chart, showing only rows that have Y data.
Note that you can use Reorganize for a line chart too but it will not plot the hidden X categories.

Autoscale XY Graph with 2 plots

I have a graph with 2 different plots on the same Y axis. If I turn off the "visible" property on one of these plots (so I have only one plot visible), the autoscale Y continue to take both plots into account, thus creating a very too large scale for the visible plot. Is there a way to autoscale only one plot while another is hidden but associated with the same scale?

You have several possibilities, for example:
* instead of setting the property to invisible, temporarily replace one graph with empty data. (see attached sample code).
* Don't use autoscale, but use ArrayMinMax on the visible y values, the set the yrange.minimum and yrange.maximum accordingly.
*switch the second plot to a second y scale while invisible and back to scale 1 when visible again.
* any other variation of the above.

I am developing a Visual Studio .net 2005 Windows Form,i have a sql table with 2 field:1) DATA (date and time)2) Temperatura (numeric)I have to make a line graph with numeric data axes.I have insert two parameters' to customize the filtering, so i can have a graph of the temperature between to date and time.If i choose two date's and time (parameters) like 20/04/2008 00:00:00 trought 20/05/2008 00:00:00 i have no problemBut if a choose a range minor of 1 day (some hours like from 15/05/2008 00:00:00 trought 15/05/2008 08:00:00) i have no graph.It sound like it don't use the time values?Thank's for the Help.

There is some debugging info on the website. I've had problems getting the text to work. It was generally that I installed either the wrong 'version' of ImageMagick (the recommended one works for me--I'm running Vista x64 and one time installed the x64 version and it didn't work). I also installed Ghostscript to get the font list to work correctly. At one time I installed the x64 version of Ghostscript and it didn't work with the plug-in, either.
I installed two items:
ImageMagick: ImageMagick-6.4.9-3-Q16-windows-dll.exe
Ghostscript: gs863w32.exe
I don't know if it is necessary but I also added the fonts from
ghostscript-fonts-std-8.11.tar.gz to the c:\Program Files (x86)\gs\fonts directory. Some, none, perhaps all, may already be installed just by installing ghostscript--it has been so long that I don't remember exactly. I do know that the contents of the gs fonts directory contains all the files in the .gz, I just don't remember if I put them there separately or as part of the gs install :)
You need to make sure the font size is large enough. I usually use about 2-4% of height and export a single photo to make sure I see the text correctly.

IGS graph with data table

Hi all,
I'd like to create an image of a graph with a data table below that contains the data displayed by the graph. I know this is possible as of SP 8 of IGS 6.40, but I can't find anywhere any documentation on how I can pass this on to the Chart Element of the Graphics extension.
Does anyone know what I should put in my custom XML or any other way of obtaining this result? Any pointers to documentation that could get me on the right track would also be appreciated.

I had indeed seen that note about BW, so I thought the IGS was capable of doing it. I just had to do a similar call as BW. Too bad this isn't supported.

Graphing with logarithmic scale in AI5?

I received a graph in MS Excel that uses a logarithmic (as opposed to linear) scale, but as far as I know, it isn't possible to create a scatter-plot graph with logarithmic scale in Illustrator. Does anyone know if there is a plug-in or a script that can do this?
I am happy to upload the Excel file if that would be helpful. This is my first time using this forum, though, so I just need to know how to attach it.

Plot excel data onto X-Y graph with time stamp

Dear all, I have the same set of data but it is saved in excel format instead of text file now. However i think the column data are separated by tab, i have tried to write some codes but it dont seem to plot out the graph properly. I have no problem ploting out data in text file but not this excel file. Can anyone help out to plot this graph with timestamp?

I still don't understand your comment 'I have no problem ploting out data in text file'. The Read From Spreadsheet by default uses a tab separator so you should have no problem reading the file. Post the code you have already written so someone can see where your problem is.

Plotting of graph with more than 4000 data points in Excel

Hi All,
I am fairly new to labview world. I am trying to plot out line graphs of the results from my program into Excel worksheet. I have huge set of data points(10000) stored in each of 10 different worksheets in MS Excel workbook. I am trying to compile results into last sheet as graphical representation of all the various dataset into 10 different graphs.
My problem is that I am getting error because MS Graph does not allow me to plot more than 4000 rows or datapoints. Is there better and cleaner way of programming this? Or if some one can provide an example of how to handle such case. I'll appreciate any help.
My goal is to able to plot one set of data 1st then I will be able to run through various worksheets to compile into standalone results.
ERROR MESSAGE: "Report Generation Toolkit: Graphs you create or edit in Microsoft Graph cannot contain more than 4,000 rows or columns, including row and column headers. "
Also for example if we run Line Graph example and change the # of data points from 100 to 4000, we get same message.
Error -41114 occurred at NI_ReportGenerationToolkit.lvlib:Excel_Insert_Chart.vi -> NI_Excel.lvclass:Excel Insert Graph.vi -> Line Graph (Excel).vi

Hi Dennis,
I am collecting waveform data from oscilloscope using labview in both data & graph format. So my program collects data for a particular operating condition & then saves the data on a worksheet. After it loads new operating condition & goes over same cycle. I have to save all the data points in excel for different use cases, which I am saving in different worksheet for each specific operating condition.
Since I already have data saved in excel at the end of test, I am trying plot each use case in the same report for study & presentaion after tests are finished. I have not been able to do so. I read the post which you have mentioned, seems like newer excel or labview version have same issue. I am using LV 9.0
I will try using decimation but if you have any better way of handling this problem, I'll appreciate if you can share that.

I want to ploat graph from taking data from txt file, i was using origin and out put of it also attached, The output of Labveiw came something different, i want to compare both, how can i ploat this text file in to the labview?
In txt file:- fist column is showing time and second column showing appropriat data at that time.

no I didn't meant to use Excel at all.
Attached you find the solution made in LabView7.1. (I hope the conversion is right as I don't want to change my regional settings...)
To get the columns is rather easy as your text file uses tabs as separators.
Changed attachment: now the last 2 rows are deleted as they contain wrong values!
