Plotting a movie strategy in Iweb

I have a fishing website in my own domain space. I'll be adding movies to it in the new year and these will reside on a MobileMe space to get around my web hoster's restrictions on bandwidth and space by editing the code to specify the movie location. That part is cool.
However, to mount the movies, I have three choices: use a blank page and insert movies using "Choose", use a podcast, or use a movie page.
I'm leaning toward using a blank page so I can format it the way I like. I'm not happy with the podcast insisting on offering a square movie image. I'd be happy with podcast if that format could be changed. A movie page seems to be geared to a single movie and I'll be adding multiple movies on a single page (instructional short clips) so it doesn't seem to be the best choice.
I'd just like a confirmation that this approach seems reasonable and that I'm not missing something.

A _My Albums_ page lets you quickly and easily index all your photo and movie pages on one elegant page. See towards the end of this _video tutorial_.

  • How do I make quicktime movies Fullscreen in iWeb?

    How do I make quicktime movies Fullscreen in iWeb? Can anyone help me please?

    You have to create a QTL file that opens the QT movie in the player. Based on the settings it opens in Full Screen.
    You may want to read this:
    [QuitTime Tutorials and more|http://www.apple.com/quicktime>
    [Launching QuickTime Player from a Text Link |http://developer.apple.com/documentation/QuickTime/QT4WebPage/samplechap/speci al-11.html]
    An alternative is to publish your movies to Vimeo and embed the movie in your page. These movies can play full screen.
    Or use DivX of Flash Video.
    Samples here: http://web.mac.com/wyodor/iFrame/

  • Images enlarge and movies play in iweb, but not when published

    Everything works fine in the program, but when published to site or folder, photos are there, but won't enlarge. The movie thumbnail shows with the little movie icon in the corner, but clicking does nothing.

    On all of your pages  you have an image that appears to cover the photos preventing them from being clicked on.
    Move it to the back via the Arrange menu or get rid of it.
    How did you add the videos to the page?  If you just dragged them onto the page or used the movie page then iWeb will have to upload them when it publishes the page and all will load when the page is accessed which can cause long loading time for the page.
    Also thre are some files missing for the TV page as seen in the Activity window (Command+Option+A) for the page. Publish the site to a folder on your hard drive and open it there.  Check to see if the movies play OK (after you fix that overlaying image issue). If they do then the problem lies in the uploading of the files.
    If those files are Quicktime then the viewers must have Quicktime installed on their computer in order to view them.  See this page on Roddy's iWeb for Musicians site for methods of presenting movies that will let all computers view them: Player-Showcase.html.  See the list at the right for different players you can use.

  • How do I improve movie quality in iWeb

    I have iWeb version 1.1.2
    Is there a way for me to post better quality movies? Currently, I use the "Share:iWeb" function in iMovie version 6.0.3. This compresses my movie to 12fps, 320 X 240, with medium stereo sound.
    I'm looking for quality similar to the Apple commercials or movie trailers that can be viewed on the Apple website. These movies are very clear and load quickly. How do I accomplish this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Compression should be considered an art form and there are dozens of variables that can make a bad file look good (and vice versa).
    The first goal of compression is to make the smallest file size as practical for the intended device. Web based movies would require some experimentation in your exports. Make at least three versions and compare them visually so you learn the best combination of audio and video codecs.
    Another simple method is to learn a little bit of html and javascript coding. It's just "plain" text files that make up the rules for your Web display. In many cases your can just edit a few lines of code to have your 320X240 file play at 480X360 dimension.
    Once you learn more about your QuickTime exports (and what works best for your files) you'll have a better understanding of all the issues.
    iWeb version 2 includes a "QuickTime Inspector" that can do some neat tricks not found in iWeb 1. You may want to move up to iLife 08.
    Upgrade to QuickTime Pro and create Web pages and files like these:

  • Can I change the frame/picture that is shown for a movie put into iWeb?

    I have a transitions (fading in from black) in a movie that I brought into an iWeb page. The picture on the iWeb page is completely black, since that is the first frame of the movie. Is there a way to change this so I can select another frame to be the one that shows up on the web page for the movie (so I can choose one with people, for example, instead of it just being a black box)? Thanks-

    Select the movie by clicking once upon it and, in iWeb Inspector's QuickTime pane, try adjusting the +Poster Frame+ slider.

  • Quicktime Movies on published iWeb require right click to start???

    I recently added several videos to my iWeb site. While in iWeb, the movies play fine with a normal left-click of the mouse on the play icon below the "movie screen". However, when I publish my site and go to my URL, I along with anyone else accessing my site, have to either double click the "movie screen" to get the movie to play or have to right-click the play icon. So frustrating... has anyone else had this problem? Anyone out there know how to fix it?
    The movies are exported from iMovie using the Export with Quicktime feature within iMovie.
    Please help!!!!

    The movie is overlapping the footer. Go to the Inspector/Page/Layout pane and increase the height of the content of each movie page by 100 pixels, publish and try again.
    Click to view full size
    You can see the overlap by typing Command+A while viewing the movie page in Safari.

  • Can't get movie compressed for iweb

    B"H
    A friend emailed me a quicktime file that is 29.9 MB, and when I drop it into iweb, I am told it should be under 10 MB. After buying Quicktime pro to export the movie, I am being befuddled that when I try the different compression settings, I either end up with a bigger file, or a small file that just plays sound, no video. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Yisroel

    Open the file with QuickTime and then open the Movie Info window.
    This will show you the codecs used and their data rate.
    Post it here and we can start (although your question should have been asked in the QuickTime Discussions pages).

  • Do I need to embed QT movies in my iWeb site if I am using another web host

    I am going to be posting my iWeb site to another web hosting service (bluehost.com). Does anybody know if I will need to embed the QuickTime movies I have on my site. Do I need to purchase QuickTime Pro to accomplish this task? How difficult is embedding the QuickTime movies to a non.Mac web hosting service?
    Many thanks for your assistance

    I believe that as long as you drag and drop your QT movies into iWeb, it will embed the QT movies for you when you "publish to folder." Then all you will need to do is upload the folder to your webhost.
    No need to buy QTPro unless you are trying to convert from one format to another.
    Good luck!

  • Using iMovie to add movies to an iWeb site

    Hi, all:
    Relative Mac noob; please be kind. I think I'm going to answer my own question, anyway, but I thought I'd ask... and I'll cross-post in the iWeb section, too.
    I am planning to add some movies to my site. I've done the preliminary layout work, and just need to edit and upload the video.
    Up to now, I have always used, and am comfortable with, iMovie HD 6. I've never used iMovie '08, even though I installed the iLife '08 upgrade two months ago.
    Which version of iMovie - '08 or HD 6 - is better suited to the task of editing digital video that will be added to an iWeb site? One source file is a QuickTime movie I've already got; the rest of the video I'll be shooting in the coming week or so.
    I think that the older version of iMovie is going to suit me better, 1) b/c I already know it and 2) it has more powerful editing capabilities, no?
    Thanks,
    Bill from CT

    Hallo, Klaus!
    Thanks for your reply. From an original QuickTime movie that was 2 hours & 47 minutes long, I've edited the video I wanted and how have a 3 minute, 52 second iMovie.
    I'm not sure why, but my iMovie is over 33 GB (yep, gigabytes) in size. I suppose this is a side issue, but I sure wasn't expecting a short iMovie that has just three video clips and a couple of transitions to be that big.
    The "share" choices include iWeb. As this movie is destined for my site, built with iWeb, is this the best choice for sharing? And given that it's opera, should I choose "share for video podcasting" over "share for web?" The former has higher-quality audio (and is also H.264 format - easier for Windows users?).
    I have set up a separate page for this video on the site...
    Thanks again!

  • How Can I make a movie on my iweb begin playing before it is fully loaded?

    OK, Forgive me in advance. I am a new "Mac Man". 5 days and counting. I just published a web site using iWeb 09. I have a 12 meg movie on the page. The movie doesn't begin playing until it fully loads (takes about 60 seconds). How can I make the video play as the rest of it loads. (like it does on Youtube)?
    Thanks in advance,
    Greg

  • Curruption of Quicktime .mov & MPEG4 in iWeb

    I have for a couple of days now in vain tried to replace RapidWeaver with iWeb (1.0.0/1.01).
    The main purpose of my page is to present QT movies.
    Using Transmit I was initially successful in posting (not using .mac) all five movies.
    However, having pushed the "Stop" button during an update rendered two of the movies unreadable. In spite of having replaced the original documents for each one of them (even changing names), those two remained inaccessible.
    Interfering a second time with an updating process, resulted in all movies going corrupt (by the time, the original two had been removed altogether). Leaving me with no choice but to return to the more stable RapidWeaver.
    Is there anything a total amateur like me can do about this?
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    I solved the problem by simply removing Safari and using an other browser. I'll have to remove the sentence on my webpages that advises people to use Safari.

    As always, use the editor that has the features needed for the project.

  • Can I put a WMV movie in an iWeb page?

    Search results on the topic in this forum seemed inconclusive to me.
    I would like to publish an iWeb site to .Mac with a WMV in one of the pages. I am aware that I can convert WMVs to QuickTime, but that's not my goal. I want a Windows user to be able to click and view without seeing ActiveX, or having to download QT7.
    Anyone know for sure?
    Thank you!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes, that can be done. You use iFrame code and an HTML snippet with this code:
    <style type="text/css">
    #outerDiv{overflow:hidden;
    position:relative;
    width:200px;
    height:100px;}
    #innerIframe{ position:absolute;
    /* increase to nudge right, decrease to nudge left. Note negative number. */
    left:-823px;
    /* increase to nudge down, decrease to nudge up. Note negative number. */
    top:-403.5px;
    width:200px;
    height:100px;}
    </style>
    <iframe id='innerIframe' scrolling=no src=''>
    </iframe>
    <script type='text/javascript'>
    _rect=new Array();
    _rect.push(-361.0);
    _rect.push(-86);
    _rect.push(460);
    _rect.push(86);
    _rect.push(622);
    _rect.push(394);
    _outer=document.getElementById('outerDiv');
    outer.style.width=rect[4]+'px';
    outer.style.height=rect[5]+'px';
    _inner=document.getElementById('innerIframe');
    _inner.src='URL OF PAGE YOU WANT TO EMBED';
    inner.style.top=rect[1]+'px';
    inner.style.left=rect[0]+'px';
    inner.style.width=(_rect[2]rect[4])'px';
    inner.style.height=(_rect[3]rect[5])'px';
    </script>
    That's about all I know about it. You will have to experiment with the numbers in the code to get the part of the page you need. I just tried to create a test and got it somewhat OK but know know really which numbers do what. It was a blind hit or miss at this time. Cyclosaurus posted the code in this topic: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7144637

  • Photoshop edited images move to iPhoto & iWeb

    I plan to redesign my web site and publish in iWeb. Previously, my web site was developed with FrontPage and hosted on an Earthlink server. My photo images were edited in Photoshop. I assume I will need to import my photos into iPhoto before designing my web site in iWeb. Any advice on photo size, resolution, and file type before I import my photos into iPhoto?

    I suspect you will get other responses, but if you haven't seen this it's from the Iweb Help and may be of interest.
    good luck
    Resampling (or downsampling) is a method of reducing a photo’s file size. Downsampling helps your website publish faster and helps photos display and download faster for your visitors.
    Photos you add to a Photos template are imported full size and downsampled automatically when you publish.
    For very large, high-quality RAW and JPG images, you can choose iWeb > Preferences and select “Optimize images on import.” This setting reduces the size of imported images by up to 60 percent so they don’t take up as much space in your Domain file.
