Pls clarify apple's complex password variety.
This is asked because I find myself in an Orwellian tangle of needing new passwords and/or "ID's" for apparently each Apple function which are then rejected as inapplicable at the next Apple site. Can someone please explain, jargon free, the basic scheme of Apple's password requirements, here, there and seemingly everywhere? Thanks in advance..... I'm an "intermediate" level user in most circumstances but this Apple complexity is newly baffling.

Apple id lost. Cannot get Access to it. Started with a mail from apple id saying that apple id and password were changed. Did not sent such a request myself. Since then no acces to apple id, not even via forgot my id site. It says that my apple id and birth date details do not match. Something is obviosly totally wrong. You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

Are there any error messages?
Knowing what you see or are experiencing can help diagnose it.
In the meantime, a common fix, hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds and see if you can force it to rebood. If you see a silver apple, let go and let it reboot and see if that helps. -

Solved the problem. I had to allow cookies for safari and it run - as here: Re: itunes keeps asking for my apple id password. it's NOT entered incorrectly.

I had to change my Apple ID and password. Now when I try to download or buy an app it says your Apple ID is disabled. How can I fix this?
If it says "This Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons", then you will just need to change you password by following these steps: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2446
If it does not says "...for security reasons" you will have to contact the iTunes Store to have your account 'un-disabled' http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/

You can try to figure out which Apple ID/email address and/or password you used to activate it by going to http://iforgot.apple.com
If you can't, you'll need to contact Apple Account Security with your proof of purchase. -

I downloaded a song from itunes and it says my computer is not authorized to play it, to authorized enter your apple id and password so I did, then it said that this computer was already authorized, but it still won"t let me play the song! What do I do?
Apparently not!! I am NOT happy about it either! I had always bought my mp3's from walmart.com (until they quit doing it) & ANY time I had a problem, they had it corrected in less than 5 minutes! Apple is a large enough company, that they should have an EASY to find support system. Having to post on here, WAITING for someone who MIGHT know how to fix it, is aggrevating!! Just got new air and trying to set up. When I put in my Apple ID and password it comes up with error message 'can't sign in because of server error. Try again signing on.' Trying again does not fix. I know my ID and PW are right as work on other apple devices I have.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)

My AppStore id is my apple id n password which is good when purchasing. But when I am updating from update option it ask for a password. The user id I see there is not mine, it's different. I believe the issue is with the Apple ID that was used to purchase the App. If you download an App that was purchased under a different Appple ID then all updates will also be linked to the original purchaser's Apple ID. Your Apple ID is the the same ID as your iTunes, iCloud, etc. Some folks use different ID for the different Apple sites. No need for that One ID for all Apple Sites, and if someone else buys an App using their ID and they(you) download that App onto your device and that App requires an update it will ask for the purchasers Apple ID. This happens a lot when folks sell their iPad or give it to someone else and leave some purchased(free) Apps on the iOS device. You cannot change the original ID the App was purchased under. A suggestion would be if someone else has an App that you like but do not want to pay for use their ID or in the future have them gift the App to you.
