Pls help - can't find contacts easily on N95 8GB

Hi there. Just got my new N95 8GB -2 & when i add a new contact i can find it by scrolling all the way down but not by one letter. eg I have entered a contact just as M but when i go contacts> M , i get a list of everything with M starting at A!! eg Alan M,Bob m & so on -How do i set up to get it (1st letter) as 1st choice as with all my other phones? Have tried First name or surname but makes no difference......... Can anyone help?

Not giving excuses for Nokia.
But the way the search function seems to work is that when you type M it brings up all the contacts that contain M in it, in alphabetical order.
But if you have many many names then as you type it starts filtering them.
This is how Video Center and Music Player works as well. So it's a bit of backwards logic you think but really I think there's a reason.
Say you have many contacts saved. Now you know that this person first or last name starts with ME, but you don't know if it's the last or first name or that ME may be part of the name but not at the beginning then as you type ME it will bring all the contacts that have ME either at the beginning the middle or wherever.
So there's some logic to it but maybe not a lot...

I have this issue also. I ask Siri to call a contact, it repeats and spells the contact exactly as it is in my contacts, then says it cannot find it. This happens for multiple contacts...

Can't see WinLive folder in N95 8GB download!

I am a N95 8GB new user. I would like to know, someone can download Windows Live by using N95 8GB. I've already called Nokia care line and my network provider. They all said, it is support but I cannot see any WinLive folder in Nokia download application. I'm from Singapore, so Windows live mobile is supported in my country. plz someone share the information.

I wrote another thread about this, but no one has written in that thread so i ask here two.
I have a 3 branded phone (Sweden).
And due to the weak features that 3 have in thier own version of this i downloaded and installed "Windows Messenger Live for nokia S60" version 1.0.6141 .
(if i got the wrong version please let me know)
During installation i synch/find my contacts for the account, so everything is installed fine (Windowslive.sis & dep.sisx).
Every time i try to login since i installed the program i get this message "messenger is not available at the moment, please try later".
If i read the FAQ here @ nokia pages it say's that the service is available here in Sweden.
But i have no idea how to get it to login.
Anyone who can help ??

hi.. I'm new to java .. but i know the very basics of it.. so that i could write a couple of simple programs.. I've been working wit .NET all these days and MSDN library helps me a gr8 deal.. it gives explanation for every class and methods of the class, even explaining the parameters passed into the methods.. I'm currently workin wit J2ME for developing MIDlets... As i know the basics programming isnt very bad.. but where can i find the explanation for the classes used in micro edition or the methods that belong to the classes...
Is there any facility like MSDN library for java where i can find the whole information...?????

Help - can't find my 'old' data!

Hi, I hope someone can help. Just left my previous employer and wanted to copy my calendar and contact information. Outlook 2010 kept nagging me for a password so I thought I was just disengaging the work account but I can't seem to find a PST
file apart from archive.pst which seems to be empty. I also searched for a .OST but no joy there. I'd really appreciate some guidance as I'll be lost without my contacts and calendar!

I suppose you had an Exchange Account setup in Outlook in your old position? Since you have left the company, they may have removed your account information, that's why Outlook keeps asking for the password.
You may try to visit OWA(the webmail), type in your account name and password, see if the account has been removed.
If the account has actually been removed, the only hope is to find the information from your local cache, the .ost file. However, we can't open .ost file directly, we need to use some 3rd-party tools to open the .ost file, or convert it to a .pst file, then
we can see the data inside of it. If you'd like to try some 3rd-party tools, keep a backup in case the tool does permanent damage to the .ost file.
As for the archive.pst file, you may not have set the Archive for contacts and calendar items - I personally don't either. That should be why you can't find anything there.
If I misunderstood anything, feel free to correct me.

Help:Can not find the file in jar!

Hello everyone:
I build a project using Netbeans 5.0 and make a jar file with it...
The code in the project as follows will throw an exception described that it can not find the file named datasource-config.xml
String dataFilePath = getClass().getResource(dataFile).getPath();
//System.out.println("filepath:"+dataFilePath);
InputStream input = new FileInputStream(dataFilePath);
when I run the project with the main() function as an entry it works perfectly and output:
filepath:/C:/projects/java_project/search/build/classes/com/cn/wxjt/lucene/config/datasource-config.xml
But when I compressed the project with jar and run it , it will show:
filepath:file:/C:/projects/java_project/search/dist/search.jar!/com/cn/wxjt/lucene/config/datasource-config.xml
there is a (!) between search.jar and /com/cn/wxjt...
I dont know why I generate a ! symbol in the file path... Is it cause the exception->
java.io.FileNotFoundException: file:\C:\projects\java_project\search\dist\search.jar!\com\cn\wxjt\lucene\config\datasource-config.xml
If you have any idea, plz tell me.

If the file you want to read is in your jar file, use
getClass ().getResourceAsStream

i m using this.getClass().getResource("resource/backend.xml");
the resource is the directory inside the jar file.
when i prints the url it shows:
the jar file is in the WORK directory
URL : jar:file:/home/neeraj/WORK/show.jar!/resource/backend.xml
now when i creates new File using the url.getFile() method the file does not exist.
although the same programs runs well when i uses the InputStream
so plz tell me cant I create a new File from the above method????

Time Machine help - Can't find my stuff after restore

I've backed up from Time Machine but can't find of my stuff. all applications are bare, no vid/pics etc. My macintosh hd stoage is showing mainly as 'other'. Can anyone help me get my computer back please?!

I'm at a total loss, is there a way of finding it all or would it be better/easier/quicker to wipe the computer of it's contents and restore from time machine using Migration assistant this time? On PowerPC machines, there is an option specifically for Processor Performance, while on Intel machines, the only option is for the entire computer - Better Energy Savings, Normal, Better Performance, or Custom. These can be selected for both on power adapter and battery and affect not only the processor, but also the display, sleep, and hard drive.
On 10.5.6, part of the update removed the option to change power settings from the menu bar drop-down menu - perhaps that is what you are looking at.

HELP - 'Can't find class' error

I have just bought a new computer with Windows XP and downloaded and installed the new versions of the jdk, jre, etc.
I have written the Hello World program to check that everything works. It compiles fine, but when I try to run I get an error - Can't find class helloworld - and then it exits.
I know that the path variable is set correctly and I used to have to set the classpath as well, but have been told that this is not necessary.
I really need to get this working as have some important programming to do.
