PLS HELP ive lost all my data during the upgrade!
Wednesday night i upgraded to ios5 the upgrade seemed to take a long time and hung right at the end of the instalation. A pop up screen appeared saying that i could complete instalation at a later data so i decided to do that. I did back up before the instalation took place.
Now however i cant retrieve any data, everytime i restore it will try for a few minutes then i get this 'itunes could not restore the iphone beacuse the backup was corrupt or not commapible with the iphone that is being restored' then the iphone is wiped and ive lost everything, 4 years of names, photos, contacts, texts everything gone. I then restored the backup directory from a previous backup on time machine, about two days earlier and one from the previous month. I have tried to restore the iphone again with these older backup and its doing the same thing error massage as above.
Can someone pls help me i even went to apple yesterday and they couldnt help they were like 'well you'll just have to start the phone from new'. Thats easier said than done. I have multiple backups on time machine i cant believe they are all corrupt, or is this to do with iTunes?

I saved my work then restarted my computer. I tried to re-open Iweb but it said that it needed a domain, it said domain.sites is not valid or something. I was trying to choose one but I didnt understand what it wanted me to choose. All of the sudden I guess it went back to default settings, now it opens but everything that I was doing, working on 3 sites (spent about a month on this so far), is gone. I did save it in folders but I don't know how to put it back on. How can I retrieve my work??
I just went through a real frustrating and similar issue.
iWeb stores key sets of info in different places:
1. The actual data files are the Domain.sites (or Domain.sites2 if you are in the iLife '08 version), which is located in the User->Library->Application Support->iWeb folder. That is the actual file that iWeb needs to access for things to work, and the file that I didn't back up properly before I updated to iLife '08 and lost all my website data in the switch.
2. Many of the preferences that make things behave poorly are in the preferences folder in your user library. Trashing the "com.apple.iWeb.plist" file can get rid of some preferences and help. It didn't do a thing for me, but reading the other posts, it helped some people. It's just a preference file, so iWeb will create a new one as soon as you open it back up.
3. There also seems to be bunch of the actual files created by iWeb on my iDisk in an aliased folder called "Web" but I'm not sure where the actual info resides. That Web folder contains a folder called "Sites" which contains folders for each of my published sites. Again, not sure where the actual info resides, or if it is necessary to back any of it up, but you might look into that if you know more about how .Mac shuffles its paperwork.
Good luck. In the end, it was much faster for me to just remake the few websites I had. I'm happier with the new versions anyway, but it still ****** me off to have to take the time to do it. It sounds like the Domain.sites file is the main one you need to back up frequently, but that probably won't help you now.

Go to iTunea>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backupright at the time you did the update. Then try restoring from that backup. If the apps are in your iTunes library, any app data will be restored to the iPod.
When restoring from an iOS 4 (or later) backup, if the device had a passcode set, iTunes will ask if you want to set a passcode (and remind you that you had protected your device with a passcode). iTunes will not ask you to set a passcode when restoring from iOS 3.x and prior backups.
Therefore, remembe the passcode that you enter this time.
It appears that if you restore from a backup, that backup is not subseqyently overwritten by the next backup. -
Firstly, what do I have to do so that, when I upgrade FireFox, there is a restore point set? Do this manually? If so, alter your install procedure - a message to say - set a restore point now, because it won't be set automatically.

You should ahve been syncing the contacts with your computer all along. Just sync them to the new one.
Everything should be on your computer as you should have been syncing.
If you failed to sync everything with your computer, then you can try restoring from the last backup.

Adobe upgrade - lost all saved data on pdf form. Help?
I recently spent weeks completing and revising a very lengthy and important application form (pdf). Upon submitting it I was told that the data could not be viewed and that I needed to update my Adobe to the latest version (11). Upon doing this I lost all saved data on the pdf forms, I wasn't pre warned about this and am extremely dissapointed as it tooks me ages to find all the information and re-word it to a high standard. Is there any way that it can be recovered?
I thought it would be in my sent emails but that is blank as well. Help?If you used an earlier version of Reader before it would only have been possible to save the filled-in information in the file if a special right was applied to it by the authors, before you received it. If that right was not applied then you should have seen an error message saying that the file can't be saved with the data you entered.

You might profit from a visit to a Minneapolis Apple store. With a brand new Mac, I think they will be most helpful - not just with transferring files, but with other advice as well. And I strongly recommend you invest in a back up drive. The Apple folk can help with that as well.

Lord K. Thank you. Yes I am within the 90 time period, however I travel Intertionally and I can not receive not make a call to Apple. I was just at the Genius Bar in Chicago and they said, don't worry about it. It just floats out there, however, I can not recover my messages on a flash drive. I need to go back to my old computer which I don't have with me. My messages were in folders for a lawsuit. It is going to take an incredible amount of work for me to, you have no Idea. We are talking thousands of pages! I the defendent will have them during discovery so I am not so worried. However, I can not bring them to him on a Flashdrive when I meet with him without an extraordinary amount of presssure on my part. THis is not just some little email issue. How can I get them all Back ???Have had the same issue - and conflicts between PC, Ipad and Iphone. Gained 6000 names and lost contacts or contact contents. Have had to edit on PC. Spoke with Apple Express and was advised to do editing only on PC and then sync. Was also told not to use Icloud until problems had been solved. Have spent last two weeks recreating my contacts list.
Haven't yet bothered to reclaim my missing paid ring tones. -

Check for locally created backups on your PC using the free version of the iPhone Backup Extractor software. Then just retrieve your data and import it back to your iPhone. Cheers!
