Pls help me.. unable to get past mac login sreen!!

Hello people, This is my first post and after much searching i am praying someone can help..!
I have a mac g5 dual, and i am having a really annoying problem, my mac keyboard is not working, sometimes some of the keys work but others dont, or none of the keys work, or when i press a button it types a different letter or types 2 or 3 at once!!
Therefore i can not get past the login screen as the keys needed for thre password do not work!! not even when i try to log into admin!!
I have purchased a new keyboard today, (wireless apple) but i can not get that to work as i need to pair it to the mac before it will work but i cant pair without getting past the login screen!!!
typical that this should happen on my only couple of days off too!!
pls HELP ME
thanks in advance..

Yeah, I tried every port available.
Is there anyway at all i can get into the system settings with a shortcut on startup?
Then again Im still not sure that the keys will work to use a shortcut.
Its odd because i managed (just) to login earlier in the day, but the keyboard just seemed to get steadily worse until none of the keys worked!!
Cheers Dale
any other ideas??

As I said on my first post, changing the iTunes Library name did not work. Restarted my PC, iTunes, my iPhone. Nothing worked.
Before going on, I put every thing back the way it was, and exported my library, just to be sure.
Then I tried and removed every iTunes Library file (iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb and iTunes Library.xml). Restarted and it worked. Then I imported my library, and went to my Mobile applications folder and re-added all apps to iTunes.
BUT the apps in my iPhone in iTunes apps window were greyed out. So I synced my apps. It said it would remove everything from the phone and replace it with the new apps, I confirmed, and it synced just fine. I lost no data, no saved games, no apps, no music, everything was just fine.
    Hope it helps.
    Cheers.

  • I am unable to get past the first step of Winston Churchill's answer because my phone says "checking for a software update failed because you are not connected to the Internet". Did my WiFi connection also get lost?

I am unable to get past the first step of Winston Churchill's answer because my phone says "checking for a software update failed because you are not connected to the Internet."  Did my iphone's WiFi connection also get lost with the Contacts, Mail and Text Messages?  When I tried the software update, as recommended by Winston Churchill, the iphone was connected to my desktop which is connected to the Internet.

You can't use your computers Internet connection to update your phone from the phone itself. If you want to use the computers Internet connection to update your phone you must update it through iTunes.

  • New MacBook Pro, unable to get past the select your country screen during initial setup.

I purchased a new MacBook Pro last night and am unable to get past the initial setup screen where you select your country.  The mouse will move around, but won't actually allow me to click on 'continue'.  I've also tried the keyboard commands to move to the next screen.  Nothing...

I just experienced this, and I am recording the solution here for posterity. I got through the setup using the keyboard (tab to move between controls and space to select), thinking that the mouse click would work when I got through it. But I was dismayed to find that it did not ...
... at least so I thought! But actually, you have to push down the mouse pad, NOT just tap it. You can turn on tap-to-click later, but at the start you must push it until it audibly clicks. It is not obvious if you are used to Windows laptop mouse pads like me, where tap-to-click is the ubiquitous norm.

Hi my trackpad is frozen and I also could not get force quit to work, I closed the top down and now I cannot get past the login and the cursor will not move, does anyone have any ideas

    Try these two steps:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Help I can't get past grey screen or reinstall osX

Hi I have an imac g5 without isight (non intel) and I tried to install the new osx update (this is thursday night). A pop up said the install failed and i tried to open a program, but it only bounced once on the dock and didn't open. When I tried to restart it, it froze on an empty backround so I manually turned it off. Now when I turn it on, I only get to the grey loading screen, then after a minute or two the fan turns on. I will not go past that no matter how long I let it sit.
I talked to the techguy at my school and he told me to archive reinstall it from the disc. When I try to do that, after installing the first disc of OSx (archive with preferences saved)It says the install was unsuccessful and to try again. I ran the hardware diognostic and it says there is nothing wrong with hardware. I dont know what to do. I'm going to try it again without preferences, but I absolutely cannot delete my hard drive. I am a film student and only a quarter of my stuff is backed up.
Please help, I could not afford the mac insurance renewall, I deffinately can't afford repairs or $49/hr apple help phonecalls. thank you.

    "Disc repair was unsuccessful."
If it reported problems it could not repair then you may have directory damange/problems. Archive and Install is not going to solve this. The more you use your computer, the more damage you will cause your system if your directory is damaged.
You will need to purchased a stronger 3rd party utililty. The favorite around here is DiskWarrior followed by TechTool Pro. There are others.
You need to make your own decision on which to purchase. Read up on them on their websites because each does something a little different.

  • Help, I can't get past a blank blue screen.

I'm not quite sure what went wrong. For some reason I seemed to lock up this morning, colored disc kept spinning. I shut her down after about 10 minutes of no results and now with booting back up I reach a blue screen and can't get past this. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

You're a bit short on details to be very helpful. What were you doing prior to this happening; did you install something, were you reading email, did you click on or delete some file without knowing what it was for? Be specific.
That said, you can try starting up in Safe Mode.
1 Be sure the computer is shut down.
    2 Press the power button.
3 Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key.
Tip: The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
4 Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.3.9, you will see "Safe Boot" on the Mac OS X startup screen.
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login window, which appears even if you normally log in automatically.
To leave Safe Mode in any version of Mac OS X, restart the computer normally, without holding any keys during startup.
If you still have this problem when you're in Safe Mode, then something more serious is likely going on, but we'll need details to try to solve it.

  • Imac G5 - unable to get past grey screen

    Help Please.
I have an Imac G5 (non I-sight) model which was going well until about 3 weeks ago. First indications
were the freezing of the screen with various patterns across it - no choice but to continually power off.
Then every time i've tried to start up since then all I got was the grey screen and spinning cog.
Have tried re-starting many times without success. Resetting the PRAM. Also used Apples Hardware test
disk which worked although it was just viewable thru these so-called patterned images - result No
    Problems found.
Tonight, after reading the various solutions from these forums, I thought I would try one last time by
using the original install dvd that came with my Imac. I managed to get the machine to read the disk
and went straight to Disk Utility and selected repair disk. Immediately it started to list in red "Reserved
fields in the catalog record have incorrect data. " This has been going for some 20 minutes now as I
type this, and is about ⅓ of the way thru its sequence.
Can anyone say what all this means, please?
Is the machine dying rapidly. Various apple techs have suggested that the video card has gone but is costly to replace and not worth the trouble and expense.
With the machine now reading the install dvd perhaps it is not finished with?
    Hope not anyway.
    Alan

    Dave,
OK, after running D/U from my install disk, it eventually finished saying "Keys out of order".
I then, still using the install disk went to repair disk. Initially it stated "repaired successfully" and underneath " repairs attempted on 2 volumes" - 1 HFS volume repaired followed by 1 volume could not be repaired"
I tried this two times with the same result.
I then tried First Aid (repair permissions) but that stopped saying no "valid packages"
Tried verifying disk but this failed " underlying task reported failures on exit (-9972)"
After several restart attempts managed to get the install disk ejected - but still cannot get past the grey screen and spinning gear.
I do have a backup on my Lacie hard drive, but the problem is that I can't get to the Imac
system prefs to be able to select the disk to start from.
Have you any other suggestions or am I reading something wrongly?
    Alan

  • Adobe Story Desktop App - unable to get past login

This problem is not present on all my home computers or laptops which leads me to believe this will be an issue with my computer.
On my 2012 iMac I was recently able to launch, login and work inside Adobe Story Desktop. Last night I went to launch the app and installed both the application and Air update, after that I lunched the desktop app and entered my CC login details, however once I do this the 'signing in' popup appears, then disapears and leaves me at the 'learn more' & 'sign in' screen. I can't get past this.
I have tried uninstalling the desktop app, restarting and reinstalling the app, but this has not solved the problem.
I have opened Story inside Chrome and Firefox on the same computer and have no problems.
I also tried using the desktop app on my laptop this morning and it still works, however I decided not to update both the app and Adobe Air as I was worried this was causing my the problem with the desktop app.
Any help on the matter would be welcomed.
    Thanks!

[Please do not try these steps if you are a free user]
    Hi,
I am assuming that you have remaned the 'com.adobe.adobestory' folder that is present inside 'ELS' folder and you are still facing this issue.
If yes, then please try these steps:
    - Quit Adobe Story if it is running.
    - Open Finder.
    - Press Cmd + Shift + G and press enter after pasting this location: ~/Library/Preferences/
    - Open folder 'com.adobe.AdobeStory.**some-random-number**'
    - Open folder 'LocalStore' and rename file 'offlineAccountInfoStorage' to something else, e.g. 'offlineAccountInfoStorage12'
    - Launch Adobe Story and try to login.
Let me know if these steps workout for you.
    Thanks
