Pls help - new to Ipod nano

Hi everyone,
I just received my nano yesterday night and happily exploring it. Everything was fine until when I try to transfer song to the music library. It seems that the iTunes software only allow update of library by folder. How can I update all my music collection in 1 go to library and when I connect the nano, it will update automatically too. Instead of folder by folder which take a lot of time.
Thanks....

I'm not clear on what you're asking. Sounds like you've got MP3s on your computer that aren't in iTunes, and you want to put them into iTunes so you can sync them to the iPod.
It also sounds like you've found the Add to Library... command in the iTunes menus. If you select a folder using the Add to Library... command, it will search that folder, and all of its sub-folders looking for music files that iTunes can play. So you can select the root level of your drive and make iTunes search the entire disk for music files and add them to the library. That might be a bit extreme, and you would probably have to cull a number of sound files for system beeps and games and stuff, but the principle works. Just move up a directory.
Does that make sense? Or were you asking a different question?

Is it not charging at all? Did you try to reset? If YES to both, request for a replacement of the ipod. Battery or the unit itself is defective. Cheers!

I need help restoreing my ipod nano 3rd gen so its like new

Plug it to your computer using iPod USB Cable (any cable should work excluding iPhone 5 and Shuffle cables)...... when you see your iPod in iTunes go to that iPod and click restore...... the whole process should take (depending on what you have on your iPod and its is up to date) it should take no longer than 30 minutes...... then it will ask if you want to set up as new iPod or restore from back-up (itunes back up), since you said:
    so its like new
click set as new iPod and follow through what they said.

I haven't turned it on in a while and suddenly it stops working when I try to turn it on again.

And right now it's displaying "OK to disconnect".
Could somebody please advice what should I do?
    Thank you

    I need help.
I have my IPOD nano for a while now and about a week ago. My husband bought one for his newphew and he had me download all the songs into the new IPOD (2nd Generation). Now Im having problems with mine. Everytime I try to charge and usually the screen will pop up to my original music player. This is what it says now when I open or charge my IPOD.
"The File iTunes Library.it! cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes".
Now, that I listen to it...all the music skip. Please help me..what should I do??

  • Help. My iPod nano is stuck on repeat. it will only repeat the same song over and over. How can I change the settings

Help. My ipod nano is stuck on repeat. It repeats the same song over and over and wont play songs on the same album consecutively. How do I fix this

    Hey cemccarty,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The option to turn off repeat will depend on your iPod nano model. Here is the information for the latest model, the iPod nano (7th generation):

  • HT1329 hi i need help with my ipod nano i want to get my music from my ipod to i tunes so that i can be able to transfer the music on my i tunes to my ipad mini can you help me with that ?

hi i need help with my ipod nano i want to transfer my music from the ipod to the itunes so that i can be able to transfer the music to my ipad can you help me with that ?

You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like"iPod transfer," you should get some links.  (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to your iTunes library, and then sync your iPad.

  • Helpful hint 4 iPod Nano scratches

my nano is covered w/tons of tiny scratches all over the screen. I tried looking on the web for stuff that would get rid of them, but i couldnt find anyting. i even tried to get a new iPod off my warranty, but couldnt figure it out. if you are experiencing the same problem, do this: go and buy some plastic screen covers that are used for Palms, cut one to size and put it on ur nano screen. there'll b a lotta air bubbles, but it covers up the scratches real nicely and protects ur screen from getting new 1's.

Be even more helpful if it was posted in the iPod nano forum! ; )

  • Help - cannot connect ipod nano

I have installed the cd ipod/itunes and am now trying to copy my music onto mu new ipod nano. However, when i connect my ipod into the usb port the computer does not automatically open itunes and does not recognise my ipod. i am receiving the message"software for communicationg with ipod is not installed correctly. I have now installed and uninstalled and re-installed several times. Please help as I am at the stage I wish I didn't have an ipod nano!!

Refer to the following post: "iPod Nano not recognized by itunes"
I spent endless hours with the same problem. By reformatting the IPod to FAT32 the computer should recognize it! Here is the procedure from the other posting courtesy of "Florida_newbie".
The problem seems to be the 3_23 update:
    1. Go to Start > Run
    2. Type "diskmgmt.msc" (without quotes). If it tells you it can't find that program, try it without the ".msc"
    3. That opens the Disk Management program.
    4. You should see your Ipod listed as one of the "volumes." It may not be identified as an Ipod; might just say "removable storage device" or something like that. You can tell it's your Ipod by the gig space shown. If it's a 4 gig Ipod, you should see something like 3.7 gig shown (less if you've filled it with music already).
    5. Right-click on that device and choose "Format..."
    6. Choose the "FAT32" option and click "OK" or whatever it displays to start formatting (I forget, and I'm not testing it again now!)
    7. You will lose any music files on the Ipod, but when it's done, your PC and Itunes should recognize the Ipod, and it should then work normally.
Be careful in that Disk Management program. You could wipe your hard drive if you choose drives incorrectly.
    Hope this works!

  • Help! My iPod nano refuses to play songs, won't show album pictures, etc.

I'm not sure what I did or how I did it, as I just got my iPod nano for Christmas and am fairly new to this new technology bit, but whenever I go from Music, to Songs, or try to play a particular song in general, it won't, it just goes on and on and won't stop or play any song, except for the two I just recently updated, and it won't display the album pictures, or only will sometimes, of this one band. I'm sorry if that sounded confusing - it's the only way I know how to explain it: I press play, and it just goes on it own free will through the songs like it's shuffling, will only show little white boxes where the album pictures should be, and when it reaches the last song just goes back to the menu area. All of this disincludes the two songs I updated after I discovered this problem, thinking maybe somehow that would work - they play fine.
It's very frustrating, because I have no clue what's going on or what to do about it. I went through the entire troubleshooting page, and nothing seems to describe my unusual problem. I tried resetting it, by 'toggling' the hold button, then holding the menu and select button until the apple logo appears on the screen. Please, please, help me.

    Hi,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Ok, if resetting it hasn't worked you could try a restore:
    Restoring iPod to factory settings
I see you're on Windows 98 - according to the Tech Spec that is not supported:
    Windows system requirements
    * PC with USB port or card (USB 2.0 recommended)
    * Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 or later, or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later
    http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/specs.html
As you're new to this technology then the iPod 101 might be helpful:
