so confused with all the advice over this everywhere i'm looking
just updated a 2011 macbook pro to 10.10.2 - now illustrator cs6 won't open
it gets "To open “Adobe Illustrator CS6.app” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime."
the link goes to Java for OS X 2014-001 also About Java for OS X 2014-001 - Apple Support but those pages say "Download the latest version of Java for OS X directly from Oracle. Download the latest version of Java for OS X directly from Oracle."
i did downloaded from here https://www.java.com/en/download/mac_download.jsp?locale=en and rebooted several times still no joy
all os and apps up to date -- i'm really going to hate this is the fix is to uninstall all my adobe apps and reinstall them -- does reinstalling actually work -- is that what i'm missing (it worked great before I upgraded 10.10 over 10.8

You may be able to get round the legacy JAVA requirement as follows:
Create empty folders at “/System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk” and “/System/Library/Java/Support/Deploy.bundle”, to make Illustrator use Jave SE 8 as it should.

Some have found that the page may turn up blank to start with, so it may be necessary to reload the page.
Others have found that it may depend on browser. Specifically, a switch from Safari has solved it in one case.
The right way/order is to update the OS, then reinstall the applications, at least the one(s) with (remaining) issues.

Upon applying for Telstra contract, salesman filled out all details & I was approved immed. He grabbed a new iPad 2 from the store's stock, all plastic wrapped, a white 32 gb. He then asked me if I needed to go and do some shopping as he had mucked something up and had to redo application. Everything had been completed and approved on screen, so I wasn't sure why he had asked me to come back in half an hour. I did so, and upon arriving back he was standing at the desk, iPad in hand together with receipt and box, no evidence of shrink wrap. As I already had bought a red cover, he basically grabbed that and slipped the iPad straight into it, without really asking me, and said, all ready to go. Was a bit surprised but accepted that. Did not see it being unwrapped, sim inserted or anything. Thought it to be odd, and without any further advice, was handed bag, box and receipt. Got home, thought it looked a bit fingerprinty, then wondered why it was basically set up ready to go. He knew I was a gadget freak, owning 25 wifi related devices, but had never bought apple products so he said I'd have no problems. There was virtually no set up to go through except for asking if I had an apple ID which I didn't so I created that and away I went. I was looking through the settings a bit later and noticed the ITunes said to sync back with WILLS-MSI when it was available. WILLS is the name of the store. There was a 32 gb white iPad 2 as a display model and now I am seriously wondering if he has taken that off the shelf and given to me. I have never in my life bought a display model and never would. From my description do you think I may be right? ( even the silver back looked 'not quite new').
OPINIONS appreciated, is there anyway of checking to see if a reset has been done as I am not at all happy & will be going straight to store manager on opening of store.

Can someone please just tell me how to set up a network?

Okay so here is the problem. I have an iMac G4 and I am getting a new intel one. I have an airport connected to a 2wire gateway. I would like to setup a network for file sharing, printer sharing, the works. I don't care about using the airport extreme but I just want to be able to find a step by step process on how to do this. I cannot find this information anywhere. I feel like it is something I know how to do that I just forgot so sorry if this is a stupid question that is posted everywhere but can someone please just tell me how to set it up? Oh yea, I also wanted to use this network to migrate my old mac to my new mac. Thanks.

Setting up a local Ethernet network
Equipment needed:
Cable/DSL modem: usually supplied by the ISP
Gateway/Router: at least a 4-port router, but you can get them with more ports if you need them. (Alternatively, you can get a switching hub to provide additional ports.)
CAT 5 Ethernet cables: one cable is needed for each device connected to the router plus one to connect the router to the cable/DSL modem.
1. Connect the Cable/DSL modem to the router's WAN port using an Ethernet cable (CAT 5 for 10/100.)
2. Connect each computer to the router's LAN ports using Ethernet cables. If you have network printers, etc. connect them to a LAN port on the router. If the router doesn't have enough ports, then you will need to purchase one with more ports or connect a switching hub to the router.
3. Now, for each Mac open its Network preference pane. Select the Built-in Ethernet port for configuration. In the TCP/IP configuration window set the connection/configuration to DHCP from the dropdown menu. Set your Location dropdown menu to Automatic and the Show dropdown menu to Built-in Ethernet.
4. Shut everything off. First, turn on the Cable/DSL modem and wait for the connect lights to indicate it has connected to the ISP. Next, turn on the router and wait to see if the Cable/DSL modem's communication status light starts to flicker. Also, if there is a status light on the router it should show a connection. Last, power up the computer. If all is well the TCP/IP control panel or Network pref pane should indicate an IP has been obtained from the router, usually in the 192.168.nnn.nnn range. If it's 169.xxx.xxx.xxx then you don't really have a connection.
5. If you have network printers connected each printer will have to be assigned its own unique IP address in the router's address range (usually 192.168.nnn.nnn.) Assign the printer(s) IP addresses above the number of computers that will be connected but within the router's DHCP address assignment range. Consult the router's documentation for that information. Consult the printer manual for how to assign an IP address to the printer. When you install the printer driver and/or Add the printer you will add it as an IP printer or LPR printer and use the IP address you assigned to the printer.
Most of this information can also be found by selecting Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and searching on the appropriate term, e.g., sharing, network, printing.

As noted above, If you have access to your computer. But that is a Very Bad Idea. That is how passwords get forgotten especially when you need to remember it.
What you don't like typing in a few letters when you start you computer? That also opens up the system from anyone walking buy and turn it on. It give them full acces to your private files.

Please just omit all the technology and tell me in simple English hoe to open one download. I have been doing things I dont understand by way of opening ne w Adobe functions on my computer for over an hour and after adding the supposed free download assist program, etc., I still cannot find out how to OPEN just one download with all the supposedly free !Adobe functions!

Ok! I have looked for day's! to find a tutroial on this
subject because I just can not work it out! I need some out there
to tell just how I go about making a flash form with 8 combo boxes
and 3 input fields. And then I need the .php code I have tryed many
things to make this all work the main problem I am having is making
the combo boxes send any information to my email address. So this
is what I realy, realy need!

My javac path file is D:/java/jdk1.5/bin/
I create java file and save it in different directory eg) java file name is Main.java in f:
F:/Main
How can i compile and run the Main java file

Modems can't do that. What you're creating is called an "audio response unit". You need to buy hardware that can play speech prompts over phone lines and decode DTMF touch tones. Intel bought up Dialogic, who used to make the best hardware for PCs. Java support for that kind of work is very slim. You'll probably be better off writing the controller application in C or C++.

The short version:Go to Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility and select your volume and then select Repair Permissions.

TS2446 Please help me re-enable my apple ID, every time I go to apple support they just tell me how to change the password. The ID was disabled how can you put password. Is that ridiculous?

Like many people with an Apple ID who are trying to buy things off of Itunes here recently, I can not buy anything because of these "Sercurity Questions." Honesntly I do not remember them(I don't think that I have ever been asked to answer them when I first created my account.) There's no straightforward way, if you mean a step by step guide but this may help.
If you can't remember your security questions go to Express Lane.
select iTunes from the list, then iTunes store. On the next screen select account Management. There, select iTunes store account security and write that you would like to reset your security questions and / or answers.
You should get an eMail reply over the next 24 hours.
