Pls recommend wireless mouse for iBook

I have an iBook with Bluetooth built in, and would like to get a cordless mouse to use with it. Can anyone recommend one? I would like one with the ability to right click, and am told that the Apple model is poor. Any suggestions much appreciated.

I have been using the Kensington "Pilot Mouse Mini Bluetooth" Model #72414 for about two months. I love it. Have never had to change the batteries (2 AA cells). Three buttons and a scrollwheel. Very happy with it. I have used it on a iBook Late 2004 and an iBook Mid 2005.

I presume you mean the 600 Mhz iBook G3 in your profile. That particular Mac did not come with built-in bluetooth, but numerous USB to Bluetooth adapters are available, including a few from the Apple Store. That and Apple's Wireless Mighty Mouse would be a good combination.
Careful with Logitech mice, as their driver software does not always keep up to date with operating system updates. You can usually overcome this with software called Steer Mouse or another called USB Overdrive when those get updated, which is usually more frequently.

My recommendation would be the "Plantronics Savii 700 series" which have worked consistently and without issues, you need the HL-10 Handset lifter with them which work with the SPA-500 series.
The Savii series come as DECT for when you are using it with a phone (Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better reception than Bluetooth) and Bluetooth for when you have it synced with a computer at the same time, it also comes with combination headset connectors so you can have one over the head, or around the neck or even just hanging over the ear.
I fully recommend them with the 500 series phones.

If it's an Apple mouse, make it "Favorite" in Bluetooth preferences.
If it's not, the same thing might help, too, but if the problem continues it could be a driver issue (possible incompatibility with your OS X version).

Mouse for iBook?

Can anyone recommend a mouse I could buy for my iBook? I have arthritis and it's getting so bad that I have a hard time using the trackpad. On my desktop Mac I use a Kensington Trackball, which is great for my condition, but doesn't work with an Ibook. Thanks in advance.

Best Wireless Mouse for iMac?

I like my Mighty Mouse, but I think its time to upgrade to a wireless mouse and I don't think the Mighty Mouse fits the bill.
I use iMovie and iPhoto a lot, and casual gamer (currently playing World of Goo - which is awesome BTW).
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I did not get along well with Apple mice. I use Logitech mice--there are many different models available. In order to get full functionality with such mice, you need a program which provides the drivers beyond those that Apple provides. I use a program called 'Steer Mouse'. It works very well--no need to even install Logitech drivers.

Wireless mouse for Ipad

Can I use Apple's wireless mouse on the Ipad 2? I have connected my wireless bluetooth keyboard to my Ipad. I am not too sure whether Apple's wireless mouse can also be connected to the Ipad 2 as this will empower me to use the Ipad as a mini laptop.

It's not entirely semantics. The point is +there is no cursor+ for the mouse to control, even in text entry. There is an insertion point but, it's not the same thing. Most folks probably aren't going to see why the difference matters. What they want is to be able to control the insertion point with a mouse. Which is beyond me as well.

I need a wireless (Bluetooth?) mouse for use with an Ideapad Miix 10 when it is in the docking station. Will any bluetooth wireless mouse work or are there special requirements? If someone knows of a specfic brand which will work I'd be very happy know.

HT1153 I've just put new batteries into my wireless mouse for my iMac and now it'll barely stay connected to my computer. It'll just keep disconnecting then reconnecting for a few minutes then disconnect again. Anyone have any ideas?

I've just recently put in brand new batteries into my wireless Bluetooth mouse for iMac and it continuously disconnects itself and will then reconnect itself for only a few minutes, just to disconnect again. It's become impossible to use my computer as my mouse smoky won't connect itself for long enough to do anything. Anyone had this problem before and could help me out?

It does not sound like a battery problem.
Try a couple of things:
1. Reset the SMC

2. Reset (if you can) the PRAM

If that does not help, delete the mouse in system preferences, turn it off, restart, and turn the mouse back on.

To make your wireless experience as pleasant as possible, I would suggest this:
1. Download and install the Mac OS X Update Combo 10.2.8:

I recommend downloading the standalone updates instead of using your OSX's Software Update. If you have only a slow modem connection, possibly a friend can download them or your local Mac store may burn a CD for you for a few dollars.
If you are running OSX 10.2.0 > 10.2.5, you cannot use AirPort software, but you do have other options. If you are not interested in updating to 10.2.8 (possibly you are already there), please reply.

Too cold? Too hot? Recommended enviroment temperature for iBook/Mac?

I have an iBook that is going to reside in a garage and while the climate is somewhat controlled, it gets pretty cold in the winter and will get fairly hot in the summer.
Is this hard on the computer (I'm assuming heat will be worse than cold)? What temperatures do I want to avoid? Can it get too cold for a computer?

The Specifications for the iBook (Late 2004) show the following:
Operating temperature: 50° to 95° F (10° to 35° C)
Storage temperature: -13° to 113° F (-25° to 45° C)

I am looking for a host that supports JAVA servlets and MySQL databases. Any recommendations you can make as well as warnings about hosts to avoid greatly appreciated. Not looking for expensive hosts, something in the $15 to $25 per month range.

What I mean is, you may own a domain name i.e. www.datsmydomain.com, but you are actually sharing an IP address with many domains. 123.321.101.010 could be for many unrelated domain names - when the request gets to the host servers/routers they figure out which content to serve-up by the domain name.

Recommended wireless routers for older powerbook

I would like to purchase a wireless router to use with an older 12" 1.33mhz sys 10.3.9 powerbook. My range requirements are only for a small apartment. Many of the routers I see at FS for example do not specify Mac compatible. I see a Belkin G at Walmart ( F5D7230Ott4) that does indicate Mac Os 9x and 10x, and a Belkin N also that requires OS 10.4 for set up. Will the Belkin G be a reliable model for me? I read that some routers can be configured through a web browser - is this complicated ? Would that Belkin N be configurable through a browser without having to upgrade to Mac Os 10.4? I was also looking at a D-Link N DIR615 which was on sale but did not specify Mac.

That and probably any other inexpensive wireless router. Routers deal in standards (Ethernet, 802.11b/g, etc.) therefore they work with any device regardless off which OS they are running.

Yes that is true and no it isn't complicated. Nearly all wireless routers (except Apple's) offer this ability.

I just got a Logitech mini wireless mouse for my mother's clamshell iBook, after a few frustrating minutes I realized that the usb plug was way too big. I'm going to have to take it back to the store tomorrow. So do any of you know of a good usb wireless plug that actually fits?

Welcome to the forum. I solved similiar problem with a USB flash memory from Kingston that didn't fit; due to molded case design of iBook, with a 3" USB cable. This is cheap, easy to carry, and works in a pinch when required for any other USB device you may need to adapt. If Mom does not travel with the iBook a Hub as above would also work.
If you shop around you can find another Mouse with a more standard connector that will fit directly. I use a three button one from Macally that fits fine ( no adaptor) and requires no software to run in OS 10.
