How to know more about PDF's Fonts Properties

Hi guys,
I have Acrobat Professional 8. I remember than with an older versions of this application i was able to select a Font of a PDF and i would tell me all its the properties. I.E.
Adobe Garamond Pro
12 pt
14 tracking
Now i go to Properties/Font, and i can only see what the kind of font the PDF is using. Where can i find more info as i used to do before?
In the Internet there is a true and free jewel from Typography Students from the great Master Massimo Vignelli, that you can download at

It is always interesting to study how a great master use typography in size, leading and grids and with this Acrobat 8, i cannot have a lot of info on this PDF font style.
Any help or ideas?

Something to play with.
From the Advanced Editing toolbar, select the TouchUp Text tool.
Use this tool to select some text.
Now, right click to show the context menu.
On this menu, at the bottom, select Properties.
The TouchUp Properties dialog opens.
If not already in focus, select the Text tab.
This tab displays:
Font type; Original Font; Editing Font; Permissions; status (Embed | Subset);
Font Size; Font fill color; Character Spacing; Stroke; Word Spacing; Stroke Width; Horizontal Scaling; Baseline Offset
If a PDF is a well formed Tagged PDF you can open the Tags panel, select a PDF element ("tag"), right click for the context menu,
select properties, in the TouchUp Properties dialog - click on the Edit Tag button, In the Tag Element dialog - walk down the element's tree.
The appropriate Dictionary will provide more detailed information.
Thing is, the Tag Element dialog is not meant to be a font centric "info" provider; so, not "friendly" if all you want is font data.
The first method, described above is pretty much the best you'll get for Font specific information presentation from Acrobat.
As Acrobat is not an "editor" (for fonts or otherwise) this is to be expected.
As font/typography information is in a PDF (more so if the PDF is a well formed Tagged PDF) it may be possible for a developer to cook up a plug-in with the appropriate C program language. Might even be something already out there.

Check out the documentation on "expire". Since I don't know what version Messaging server you're running, how can I point you to the right documentation?
Both Messaging 5.2 and 6.2 have a way to automatically expire messages.

Thought you could use this info about getting FireWire to work! First, you should always Repair Permissions in Disk Utility before and after any update; I would do that now. If you installed your update with FireWire plugged in, your Mac may not recognize it anymore.
Try resetting your FireWire ports by disconnecting all FW devices, shut down your Mac and unplug it from AC power (wall socket) for 15 minutes. plug it back in and try FW.
If that didn't work, download the combo update from this site (yours may be corrupt), not Software Update, disconnect all firewire + USB devices except keyboard + mouse, Repair Permissions, re-install update, Repair Permissions again + try.
If that still didn't get it Zap the PRAM. While restarting Mac hold down the following key combo Command-Option-P-R. Keep holding those keys down till you hear the second start-up chime, then release.
A bad internal PRAM battery can also cause FireWire to not be recognized, so make sure it's good! Also, here is Apple doc.#88338 on getting FireWire to work.

Your account from discussions.apple.com cannot be deleted, though you can disable email notifications. To do so please do the following --
1. Login to your account and click on "Your Stuff" on upper right corner. From drop down menu select Preferences.
2. Click on "Email Notification Preferences" tab.
3. Now, you may select "no" options and click on save.

Filevault impact on performance and application usability.
FileVault encrypts the user's home directory only - it is basically an encrypted disk image that is automatically opened when you log in and closed when you log out. It does cause disk accesses to be a bit slower so it isn't a good idea to use an encrypted account with sound or video or large graphics files. I have no experience with it with Parallels Desktop but suspect that you'd notice a bit of a slowdown. Note: in the User's directory you'll see a Shared Folder. Since FV only encrypts the user's directory you can put data you don't need encrypted in this shared folder which won't be encrypted.
TIme machine impacts, and whether TIme Machine volume will also be secure?
There are issues with TM and FV but how extensive they are with Snow Leopard I can't say, once I realized that TM and FV hadn't substantially changed between 10.5 and 10.6 I stopped dealing with it. When FV and TM were first introduced my testing led me to recommend using CCC or SuperDuper! for backing up.

Since FV is nothing more than a disk image - and disk images can fail - there are several problems with FV in my opinion. If an encrypted disk image fails it isn't possible to access any of that data. If you don't have a recent (undamaged) backup of the disk image and/or recent backup of the data within the disk image you are in a world of hurt. This isn't just a warning of possibility - this is a real danger that I've seen all too often at the shop where I have worked part time for a number of years.
At this time I strongly recommend that people who have sensitive data keep that sensitive data segregated from their general data and encrypt only the sensitive data or use other methods of locking it down such as saving on an external drive that is kept in a safe. Call me paranoid but I don't even keep all my sensitive data in one encrypted disk image. I use multiple disk images and keep multiple sequential backups. That way I might someday find that my up-to-date investments disk image won't mount but (a) I can go back a week to a backup and (b) that won't impact my up-to-date business records because those are in a different disk image

Pls tell me how I can convert a PDF form to a Word doc, and have radio buttons etc work? My PDF form did convert using Adobe PDF Export.... but the formatting is a schamozzle if I try to do anything with it. Most importantly, I need the check boxes and radio buttons to work in Word!

Checkboxes and radio buttons are form objects from Acrobat. There is no equivalent for these objects, with the way they were constructed, within Word.
