Plsql xml unit tests
I need to find a framework to test some plsql xml web services.
Has anyone found a good framework I can build some unit tests to both test the PLSQL, but more importantly to check the XML that the services are generating?
Yeh, somewhere in your code you called validate.validateAll( someArg ) and whatever you passed as someArg is null.

mayooran99In unit test, when you want to validate XML files, you feed them into the class / struct that you want to feed the XML into and compare the values there (You don't just feed it in XMLReader and feed it line by line, right? But if it really is, that's how
you should also test it in unit tests).
In short, how you'd use the XML in your code, that's how you should test it in unit test. -

An update to my initial post:
I am now seeing this on Flex 4.1 projects as well. Both AIR and Flex Library projects.
It appears to be some kind of race condition. Sometimes unit tests will launch on the first try, other times it takes 4-5 tries. If I keep the unit tests application XML open in the background, even on successful launches I see that the <content> node is re-written to contain the square brackets.Thanks Sudhir. I had just assumed that you were not getting the notifications since the ticket was marked as "answered".

Automated Unit Tests through NWDI / Purpose of testrun.xml

I could not find any documentation on the test infrastructure / system that seems to be integrated into Netweaver CE 7.1. A DC offers the option via the context menu to "Add/Repair Unit Test Support". When this is used the Developer Studio automatically creates the necessary test source folder, JUnit library dependencies and a file called TEST-INF/testrun.xml.
The first two things are clear, but what function does the testrun.xml file serve? To me it looks like it defines the Tests that should be executed (automaticaly during build?). However, the tests are never actually run.

Can anybody expain how this file is though to be used? Or how to perform automatic unit tests during/after the build process?

the integration of JUnit tests into the DC build is planned for 7.30. You can add your tests in a separate test folder and specify additional "test"-dependencies, if required. The tests will be executed during the DC build. If a test fails, the build will also fail. Generation of code coverage reports will be possible, too.

Is it possible to run jUnit-Tests automatically during the build (cbs)?
A very promising looking file (testrun.xml) is not documented..
We're using the NWDI and CE 7.11.
Testdriven development isn't a new paradigm in the standard java development so it must be possible to do so with ce and nwdi.

I guess that the testrun.xml allows to do exactly that you want - to run jUnit-Tests automatically during the build (CBS).
Though there is one small thing - I think that the tool which can understand the file and run the tests is SAP internal tool. So I doubt that having just pure CBS server it'll be possible to activate the automatic test execution process. It seems we need to have something more.
I also could not find any documentation regarding this on SDN. That's why I think the functionality is SAP internal.

BUG: Debug Unit tests in Selected
I think I've found a bug in JDeveloper.
Using "Debug Unit Tests in Selected" does not all unit tests in the selected projects.
To reproduce:
-select a list of projects,
-right click and select "Debug Unit Tests in Selected".
Results:
-JDev will run all the unit tests in the last project selected but no others.
What it should do:
-JDev should run all unit tests in all selected projects

Also, double clicking a swf file prompts me with a dialog saying Windows can't openit since it doesn't know how. -

Problem creating unit testing repository (and workaround)
I tried to create the unit testing repository with a user that had all the required system privileges granted through a different role other than RESOURCE and CONNECT roles, and who wasn't explicitely granted CREATE VIEW, but inherited it through the custom role. However the check in SQL Developer is explicitely for the RESOURCE and CONNECT roles (regardless of what privileges they have granted to them in whichever database version past, present or future) and for CREATE VIEW privilege granted direct to the user:

Whether the Test is to happen in DEV or QAS or whatever 'System Role' is dependent on the Test Plan.
So, if you have two distinct Test Plans, one for Unit Tests and the other for Integration Tests, which should be the case, as usual, you can certainly point the System Role to DEV or QAS as required.

Unit test fails after upgrading to Kodo 4.0.0 from 4.0.0-EA4
I have a group of 6 unit tests failing after upgrading to the new Kodo
4.0.0 (with BEA) from Kodo-4.0.0-EA4 (with Solarmetric). I'm getting
exceptions like the one at the bottom of this email. It seems to be an
interaction with the PostgreSQL driver, though I can't be sure. I
haven't changed my JDO configuration or the related classes in months
since I've been focusing on using the objects that have already been
defined. The .jdo, .jdoquery, and .java code are below the exception,
just in case there's something wrong in there. Does anyone have advice
as to how I might debug this?

You got these errors because runInstaller can not start the GUI. There are 2 solutions, you can choose one:
1. logout Gnome/Kde, login as oracle user, and run runInstaller again.
2.open a new root terminal,
a) run "xhost +" as root.
b) run "su - oracle" switch to oracle
c) run "export DISPLAY=:0.0"
d) then run "./runInstaller" again.

SQL Developer 2.1: Problem exporting and importing unit tests

I have created several unit tests on functions that are within packages. I wanted to export these from one unit test repository into another repository on a different database. The export and import work fine, but when running the tests on the imported version, there are lots of ORA-06550 errors. When debugging this, the function name is missing in the call, i.e. it is attempting <SCHEMA>.<PACKAGE> (parameters) instead of <SCHEMA>.<PACKAGE>.<FUNCTION> (parameters).
Looking in the unit test repository itself, it appears that the OBJECT_CALL column in the UT_TEST table is null - if I populate this with the name of the function, then everything works fine. Therefore, this seems to be a bug with export and import, and it is not including this in the XML. The same problem happens whether I export a single unit test or a suite of tests. Can you please confirm whether this is a bug or whether I am doing something wrong?

We have a set of unit tests which perform standard operations in our software, spinning up the application, creating data...
What we would like to do is create a line chart to show the running time of individual tests across builds, so we can show how code changes are altering system performance.
Is this possible? This is just a quick question before we spend resources to investigate how to do it.

Problems with non-ASCII characters on Linux Unit Test Import
I found a problem with non-ASCII characters in the Unit Test Import for Linux. This problem does not appear in the Unit Test Import for Windows.
I have attached a Unit Test export called PROC1.XML It tests a procedure that is included in another attachment called PROC1.txt. The unit test includes 2 implementations. Both implementations pass non-ASCII characters to the procedure and return them unchanged.
In Linux, the unit test import will change the non-ASCII characters in the XML file to xFFFD. If I copy/paste the the non-ASCII characters into the Unit Test after the import, they will be stored and executed correctly.

If SQL*Developer is coded the same between Windows and Linux, The JVM must be causing the problem.Set the System property "mail.mime.decodeparameters" to "true" to enable the RFC 2231 support.

I use Eclipse IDE: Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers. Version: Indigo Release
I use JUnit 4. For project properties> Java Build Path> Libraries: I have JUnit4 added. Also under the same tab: Maven Dependencies> I have junit-4.8.2.jar
In pom.xml I have:

</dependency>Basically, I’m writing unit tests using JUnit in the past few months! All I needed to do was to create a test class, add a test method like below:
@Test
public void testMethod(){
// Some test code
}Right click on method, Run As> JUnit Test
That’s all I needed to do to either run my unit test or do Debug As> Junit Test to debug my unit test.
All was fine with the world! Starting yesterday, when I add a new test method in a test class, and then do: Right click on method, Run As> JUnit Test
Nothing happens! I cannot run or debug any test anymore! Meaning I cannot add any new unit test!
Let me also add that after I add my test method, I do a clean build thru Eclipse and Eclipse sees the newly complied class which contains my new test method.
Since none of my configurations changed, I have no idea what went wrong!
Does anybody has any idea? Any help would be greatly appreciated.aksarben wrote:

OP: eclipse creates run/debug configurations for each class. If you search around a little you should find the dialog, I don't know the exact name. I think you can reach it from the "run as" menu options. You should try clearing the settings of your test suite to see if that changes anything. -
Unit Test code using wrong persistence unit
In the midst of learning Maven, I created a simple application in which I am using JPA (Java Persistence 1.0.2) with EclipseLink implementation (2.0.2).
Note: This is an Application Managed environment. So I manually control EntityManager's life cycle.
The persistence.xml file used by the main source code is different from the one that unit test code uses. Main code uses an Oracle DB and the test code uses an in-memory Derby.
Running unit tests was updating the Oracle DB (!) and I eventually managed to fix that by using two different persistence-units in the XML files.
However, I don't understand why that fixed the problem. I manually create and shut down the entity managers and they are not running concurrently. I'm pretty sure Maven (or the way I set it up) doesn't mess up the resources (XML files). In fact by looking at Maven's debug output I can see it's using the right XML file for unit tests.
Could someone enlighten me, please?Do you have both persistence.xml files on your classpath? If so, and they contain the same name for their respective persistence units, you should be getting a warning or error since they must have unique names. There is no way to tell which one you want to access otherwise.
