Plug a router into a router?

I live in a very wireless diverse household, with devices ranging from 802.11b to 802.11n. We're looking at purchasing a new N router for the devices in the house that support it (a MBP, MB, and 2 iphone 4's). However, the routers we're looking at in our price range only support N on the 5GHz band, and 2.4 is relegated to A/B/G (it will support N on 2.4GHz, but should any lesser device join, it reduces the speed of that band to the lowest device). Since the iPhone 4 is 2.4GHz only (I'm hopefully assuming that the MB and MBP support 5GHz), I'm wondering if I could use the new router for N only, on both bands, then plug my AirPort express into the new router via ethernet to support the B/G devices in the house. I've never plugged a router into a router before, so I'm not sure of what the caveats of doing so might be. Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

Oh, I LOVE my AP Express, and I would have LOVED to get an Extreme, but my budget these days just didn't allow for it. We had a Belkin router for a time, and it was a total nightmare, and I was really nervous about picking up a non-Apple router, but this Netgear was fairly strait-forward and I had it up and running with minimal effort. I'm fairly versed in router setup, so I always skip all that cd installing, push-button setup crap they want you to do and just head strait for the advanced menu to do it myself. On the other hand, I was worried about getting an AP because most of the wifi devices in the house are non-Apple devices (actually, it's 3 Macs, 4 iPhones, 5 PCs, 3 Android phones, a Nintendo DS and an XBOX 360), and PC's/game consoles don't always get along with AP routers.

You may mean the AirPort Express.....not AirPort Extreme.....as the Express is a popular travel router.
The whole idea behind using this device is that the hotel must provide an Ethernet jack in the hotel room. Then you connect the AirPort Express to the Ethernet jack with an Ethernet cable and configure it to provide your own wireless network in the room. You still have to agree to terms, pay the fees, etc.
The problem with this approach is that it is getting very difficult to find hotels in North America that prrovide an Ethernet jack....most have moved to wireless networks and the others are not far behind.
So, if the hotel is already providing a wireless signal, the AirPort Express is of no use in that situation.
If you normally stay at the same hotels, and know that they provide Ethernet ports, an AirPort Express might make sense in terms of convenience.

I think this is probably a sign that your network could be better than it is.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

The odd thing is that our other iPod (160 GB Classic) is recognized on the same computer using the same USB cable. When I plug the ipod in question into another PC, the PC seems to recognize the iPod and lists it in Windows Explorer (iTunes is not installed on this machine). There seems to be something out of wack with this PC/iPod combo. Any thoughts on what I can do to try to resolve this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

i think i might have a solution... i have windows vista and after i installed to latest itunes update everytime i tried to open it it would freeze. I tried everything, including uninstalling itunes and all of its components and reinstalled it numerous times. So i went to the itunes folder in my folders, not on itunes, and i deleted my itunes library and playlists. After that it worked just fine, all of my music was deleted but luckily i had my files saved elsewhere.
I hope this helped! I know its frustrating and APPLE/ITUNES NEED TO FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!

Antivirus has a tendency to freeze iTunes sync Operation with iPod Classic, causing a timeout, which corrupt your iPod filesystem, so when iTunes can't read the iPod, it is pointing to this problem. Other causes is when your iPod hardisk is dying, or your battery is dying causing hardisk crashes.
My suggestion.
Connect your iPod to the PC and run chkdsk, to fix any iPod diskerror, then disconnect it, after chkdsk complete.
Disconnect your PC from Internet. (just to make sure no nasties creep into your system while you syncing.
Stop the Antivirus program
Connect your Ipod to the PC
When iTunes Open up, Restore your iPod please, this is for iTunes to map correctly, to fix the corrupted filesystem.
When Restore complete, eject the iPod and reconnect again.
Sync your ipod, preferably manually Manage in small batches and disconnect after every batch, to check that all is well, since you got such a huge library.
When all sync is complete, and iPod disconnected, start back your Antivirus and connect back the Internet.
If this doesn't resolve your problem, then let me know.

that is odd! that should not be happening.
Are you syncing your songs right off of itunes itself? because it should be syncing over to the ipod however it is listed in itunes.

I have an iphone 4s that is having display issues. If I turn the phone on, it vibrates to acknowledge it successfully turned on but the screen stays solid black. I can plug the phone into my computer and itunes will recognize the phone as well.

The screen does work though! Through trial and error along side a little troubleshooting, I was able to figure out that the screen will cut on after the phone dies completely. The phone has to die completely with no battery power left. Then if I plug the phone into a charge and wait a while for it to charge, the phone will turn on like nothing was ever even wrong with it. I charge the phone up to like 30% and turn it off then bam the phone turns on but the screen is solid black again.
I am currently in the process of waiting for the phone to die and when I turn the phone back on I am going to completely remove the auto-lock and lock code off of the phone for the time being.
Any other suggestions? Please help!

Sounds like the device was dropped at some point and damaged as a result.
Take it to Apple for evaluation and a replacement.

Try:
- Resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Resetting network settings: Setting>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

I have plugged my iphone into my mac computer to restore the phone and it restored then went to the start menu as a new phone does then asked if i wanted to resync from uploaded data from a previous save, then i pressed resync. and now it doesnt work.

I have had this problem before but apple didnt know how to fix the problem so they replaced the phone.
I plugged my Iphone into the computer and went into Itunes and restored the phone because it wasnt working properly. it saved my data and then when it turned itself back on after the restore it was at the main menu when u get a new phone and have to set it up, so i went along and did the normal selections as i did when setting up the phone and when it got to where you choose to set up as a new iphone or restore from previous date with data i chose the restore option, it then said i had no service and the sim card was not compatable for the phone, i turned the phone off and it still says the same thing, im not sure what to do and im very annoyed with how it has happened a second time and ive only had the new phone for about three to four weeks now if that.

I went back to iOS 7 and my backup file is restoring but when its done nothing is on my phone still and only takes 11-15 minutes to restore the backup instead of taking 25+ minutes like usual so I guess the backup is corrupted. How can I fix this?

Just to be clear: Tap on the Photos app to start the app. Then tap on Albums at the bottom of the screen. You might have several albums but only one is named "Camera Roll." Are there photos in that album?
If there are NO photos in the Camera Roll album there are no pictures to import. The remaining albums might have come from a sync with your computer or they might be your PhotoStream.
If there ARE photos in the Camera Roll album, connect your iPhone to your computer and start your camera application on the computer. Your phone should be recognized as a camera.

If I plug my iPhone into a computer, and just want to play non-manually managed music, why does that computer have to be authorized?

My home base computer has been authorized to play music my friend has downloaded from iTunes. I can upload that music to my iPhone and play it on the phone without any issue. When I am at work, I plug my iPhone into my computer and play music through my work computer. But the music is not manually managed, nothing is being stored on that computer, it simply streams through to the headphone jack, allowing me to use iTunes as a control panel for the phone's music library.
I can play my own music just fine (because my work computer is authorized for my account). But I can't play my friend's music, because my work computer isn't authorized for HIS account. Nor should I expect him to waste one of his 5 authorizations on my work computer.
But why does it need to be so? If I'm already authorized to play his songs on my iPhone, then what difference does it make if it's streaming through my work computer or not? Why does Apple care, and why are my music playing rights being unnecessarily infringed? I am currently a very unhappy iTunes customer because of this.
We don't have to buy music from iTunes you know. If I buy the CD, I can upload it without any of these play rights issues. I can give my friend my CDs while he gives me his and all of this goes away. The harder and more user unfriendly playing music from the iTunes Store becomes, the less likely we'll be to buy it. This is a very simple fix. If my home base computer is authorized and I can put music on my iPhone, I should be able to play that music off the phone anywhere at any time, so long as I'm not making a copy. And I am not making copies. Fix this or we shop elsewhere.

I spent an hour on the phone w/ apple support this morning. I went through all the trouble shooting and it appears everything is working fine...until you plug the phone in and try to use itunes. Then they put me on hold for 20 min. While they did this i had a guy at work who had an older version of itunes on his cpu plug my phone in. Voila! It popped right up in iTunes. Their product specialist told me to uninstall and reinstall iTunes 8.2. Didn't work. Then they told me to uninstall and reinstall an older version of iTunes. That way I could get music on my phone, but I would not be able to update to the newest version of the iPhone OS. That's great and all, but it really hasn't solved any problems. I'm giving apple the benefit of the doubt due to the fact they just released the newest version of itunes, a new iphone, and a new iphone OS; so there's bound to be bugs and fixes. But that goodwill probably won't last to long. So if they won't fess up to the fact there's a problem w/ the new iTunes soon and fix it I guess they're going to have to give me a new phone.
