Plug-in canceled

I recently went to the Apple download site to download the new Backup 3.2 program. Almost immediately the status bar at the bottom of the web page displayed the message: Failed to open page (see activity window for details). The activity window log, under the Status column indicates “Plug-in canceled”. Subsequently, after having read all the posts I could find on this subject, I went to the Adobe page to attempt to download the newest version of flash player. Same problem and message. Can some one point me toward a solution?

Ok..
Go to your Applications folder. Right or control click the Backup application icon, then click: Get Info. Check the version number. If it's 3.2... then it's already installed. If not....
Go to your Apple Menu (top left in your screen) and click: Software Updates. Make sure your system software is up to date.
If everything is up to date...
Go to /Library/Preferences and move the com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist file to the Trash. Restart your Mac. Try the Backup download.

Garmin Communicator Plug In cancelled by Runtime Error

I am trying to run Garmin Communicator but every time I donwload the plug-in I get the following message:

I never had problem before, now Fatal Error Plug in "Java run time environment cannot be loaded. Uninstall many times and re-installed. I use Iwin.com and pogo.com and neither work. I have on occasion had it work and then left and when I come back to it, I get the same results.

New problem with PDF's, especially in Safari and other browsers (?)

I've had several PDF documents on my web site for several years. Today, a visitor brought it to my attention that several of these will not display properly in web browsers. It appears that the older ones display properly, but the new ones have problems. After successfully viewing them on my computer locally, I have reloaded all of them, to insure that they weren't corrupted.
I'm a Mac user with the latest system software, and a brand new installation (re-done, for safety) of Reader 7.0.5 Having read through many PDF-issue forums before posting, I can assure you that I have no unusual or "wrong" system settings. This problem only began recently. On clicking a link ( for example, http://www.nextcraft.com/media/dflitems/dfl1.8.pdf ) Safari reports "Plug-in cancelled" and then as you scroll the document, there are other reports, including font-missing reports for fonts NOT used in the document.
When I download these documents, instead of viewing them in a browser, I still get error reports, although they appear to display properly. It sounds like a font issue, but it seems to be out of my control, since the error reports state errors with fonts that I did not select for the documents.
These files were created from both "TextEdit" and "Pages", with the default PDF fonts... nothing that should cause such a problem. I have used the "Export" command to save this, as well as the "Print to PDF" option, but the same problems remain, and my viewers and I are both becoming frustrated.
This is a known issue, so do any of you know the answer?

This is frustrating, because i'm an long-time Mac user, and familiar with all the usual system and software settings. I've been producing "perfect" PDF's for years, and suddenly, without me changing anything, this problem pops up. The "Plug-in cancelled" report doesn't help track the error, so I'm at a loss as to what else to check.
I can tell you this though, since I just went through the process yesterday. I re-wrote this document several times in Pages, and got much worse errors than the insignificant one that remains in the current (TextEdit-produced) version. The Pages-produced version had screwed-up images, missing text, and a long list of "bad token" and "unable to load embedded font" errors. (and... those reports were false, since the reports were for fonts not used in the document.) At least the TextEdit version displays properly.

FLV files won't play on testing server

I've created a site with several videos on multiple pages. They play on my local computer but will not work when uploaded to my server. I get an error in opening the page and a "plug-in cancelled" message in the Activity window in Safari. Other FLV files play from other servers (even those I created and placed in other site files using the same method). I feel certain that something in my upload is causing the problem, but I cannot find any missing files or misplaced files on the server. NO FLV files are playing on the entire site.

I've got the Scripts folder uploaded and the skin file within the COMEDIANS folder on my server.

Thanks for checking the page to try to help. I apologize--I figured out the issue and didn't have a chance to remove my question from the forum. The issue was being caused by the files being on my server--somehow they weren't being found. I made an adjustment in Dreamweaver and they now work. Thanks again!
Is there a way to remove this entire post? I realize it will be of no help to anyone else, and I don't understand the problem and solution well enough to add details to make it helpful.

SAFARI DOES NOT DISPLAY PDF DOCS.

Does anyone know why my Safari browser suddenly does not show PDF docs in the browser window? It used to. I use Version 2.04. A message does appear that says "plug-in cancelled". I don't know why.
Acrobat opens it in Firefox fine, but nothing happens in Safari. I prefer Safari for viewing PDFs online because it is more convenient than having Acrobat start up and drop files on my hard drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

Hmm yes i can relate much better then launching adobe, for my needs.
Go to System preferences-> Quick time preferences->Advanced tab
see the -> MIME settings, click the button,
Images: click to expand the list, make sure PDF is not selected.

PDF Files Cannot Be "viewed" Today

Yesterday and the day before I could "view" PDF internet files/forms - today I cannot. No problem using Firefox. My version of Adobe Reader is 7.0.8, also, have Adobe PDF Viewer plugin v 7.0.5. No changes have been made to my system. This is the web site I was using and the Window > Activity info.

Flash page won't load in Safari

I have an IMac G5 (not intel based). I created a flash page for my website (www.oh-sad-she.com). The page will not load in Safari. All I get is a shockwave macromedia icon. Then, when I pull down the activity menu in safari, I get this message:

The page works fine in Firefox. (I also notice though, that the page will not load in ANY other Safari browser, not just mine...ie: at work, others computers)

(I've published flash pages before, and they work fine in Safari. It is just this page, would it be something I did differently when creating the flash/swf document?? Or is it safari?)

Try adding TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" to the embed tag.
This Adobe page has a some information on other things to try.
Macromedia Flash OBJECT and EMBED tag syntax.

I messed up: codec not supported

I am studying Itallan. I found my way to Italian TV and radio stations on the web and had them playing just fine in Safari. When I clicked on the <Link to Video> on the page in Safari, Windows Media Player launched and I could watch the video and listen to the audio just fine, or in the case of radio programs, just listen to the audio.
Then I did something stupid.
I thought I'd try and download some freeware with which to record these programs and move them to my iPod for use in the car.
I tried a couple of freeware apps, none seemed to work well, so I trashed them.
When I went back to the Italian web page, clinked on <Link to video>, the video launched and there was no audio. Just as the Windows Media Player opened the file, it warned: This file may not play correctly because it was compressed by using a codec that is not supported.
I then tried to open some humorous .wmv files I had saved months ago to my HD. When I launched them, same thing. Video plays but no audio. I tried some of my saved .mpg files. Same thing. Video's fine; no audio.
When I click on the Italian radio stations in Safari, they stations will not play and the Status Bar notes: One error opening the page: choose Activity from Window menu. Activity noted, inter alia, in red: Plug-in cancelled.
Checked my Audio preferences, all is fine and I have my system beep, tunes play in iTunes, etc.
I backed up before I began playing around so whichever file or plug-in went AWOL, I should be able to get it from my backup.
When I logged out then into a new user account and tried to go to the Italian sites, exact same thing happened. Video, but no audio.
Help...I need to get this working so I can get on with my Italian studies.

I solved my own problem.
I remembered that a few months back I had a similar problem, this time not associated with the installation of any new software. I was directed to an Apple Knowledgebase article on what to do when this happens.
The solution, then and this time around, was to go to Audio MIDI Setup in the Utilities folder and check the Audio Output Source settings.
Both times, mine had been reset from 44100.0Hz to something much higher.
When I reset it to 44100, all was well again.

PDF in Safari is blank

I have Acrobat reader and use it when viewing most pdf files. I do like to use the built in Safari option also, but for some reason recently I can not view any PDF files in Safari. It only comes up as a white screen, and the activity window says plug-in canceled. Any help would be appreciated. Hopefully the plug-in just needs to be re-installed. Thanks.

Mirko, thanks! I was having the same problem, and moving the AdobePDFViewer.plugin out of Library/Internet Plug-Ins stopped the white-window problem.
It does however now force PDFs to download instead of displaying them in Safari, and looking in that folder it appears that my "PDF Browser Plugin.plugin" is AWOL. Where'd it go? Hmm...
But that's the behavior I want 80% of the time anyway, so hey, I'm all set!

Problem viewing pdf's in safari

i'm running safari 2.0.2 and acrobat reader 7.0.5. recently, i get a 'failed to open page' error when trying to open pdf's in the broswer. safari's activity window says 'plug-in cancelled' when it fails. i've tried trashing Library/Internet Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin, and using Acrobat's Help>Detect and Repair, but it says everything's fine. any suggestions?

Here's my post from another area, which fixed prob for me:
I agree that the PDF reader("PDF Browser Plugin" found here: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/16527 ) you speak of is the BEST! I could never get the Adobe Reader to work in Safari, so installed this one (PDF Browser Plugin). A couple of hints I found out I needed to do first to make it work:
1-Need to delete AdobePDFViewer.plugin
2-Quicktime and Adobe Reader Pref's override this PDF Browser Plugin, so must do these:
-Need to go into Sys Pref's/Quicktime/Mimie Settings/Images(submenu under this)and UNCHECK "PDF Image"
-If you have Adobe Reader Vs 7, need to: open and go into it's Preferences(under title name on top title bar), then go to INTERNET section and UNCHECK box next to "Display browser using: Adobe Reader 7"
3-Need to put the plugin in the folder location the README files shows:
~(home folder)/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
4-When first open browser(close and reopen browser after installing new plugin) and it auto-opens this new PDF Browser plugin, it asks you to REGISTER, but if you look down below this, you see the choice "for single use only" and check that, then it's FREE to use, otherwise it cost $69! This button to check is in smaller print below, probably to encourage others to purchase.

When I try to download something from Safari a new tab comes up with a grey screen?

I use Safari 4.1.3 and whenever I go to download something, a new tab comes up with a grey screen. It doesn't load anything, it just stays there. How do I fix this? And when I go to Activity, it says in red letters plug-in cancelled? Please help?

Quit Safari.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left then open the Library folder then the Safari folder.
Move the Downloads.plist file from the Safari folder to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari. See if that made a difference.

I didn't understand the option to Inherit or start a new back up, and therefore selected the option to create a new backup. I believe I should have selected to Inherit backup history so that when i back it up on the new MackBook Air, it appears the same as the one I'm returning.... Is there anyway that i can re-select the option to Inherit backup history for time machine?
