Working with Vista on a 2.66Ghz laptop with GB memory. The application fails in one regard.. when navigating to URLs ending in "pdf" e.g.
http://www.adobe.com/education/pdf/cib/acro6/acro6_cib_16.pdf the error message: Acrobat Plug-in... could not find adobe acrobat. Local pdfs launch with no problems. Guidance sought

Acrobat 6 is not Vista compatible.

Doing a fresh install of CS6 Design and Web, on a new iMac running 10.8.5, I get the following error.

How to track ntdll.dll error for Acrobat 9.3.x?

Hi,
While running Acrobat 9.3.x in embedded mode for my application I get this error:

What is the best way to track the reason of it? It usually happens inside my developed Acrobat plugin with SDK 8.x, but usual DURING/HANDLER doesn't help in that case to catch it.
I'm developing with Visual Studio 2005. Should I try to enable any of C++ exception tracking or the only way is to prepare PDB (program database) file and try track done what is the line?
Any help will be highly appreciated.
I'll try to update today my Acrobat to 9.3.4.x and see if it's the same.

Plugin Issue for Acrobat Professional 6.0

Have been using the product with a single issue. When launching pdfs from webpages, the error panel appears with the message"Acrobat Plugin Cannot find Adobe Acroba" I see no way to troubleshoot the issue. In most cases, I can paste the URL into the create PDF feature but some do not. Looking for some internal error log and or guidance.

This error usually comes up when the downloaded installer file is corrupted.
If you have tried different browsers and different computers already then the only reason I could think of is the internet issues.
Are you experiencing intermittent network issues?
Try downloading the file from a different network and check.
Also try downloading from the direct download links available at: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html

How many Licenses of Acrobat Professional do I need for Adobe LC PDF Generator

At our customer site we have purchased 6 licenses of Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator and have recieved a license file with the keys for Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator and Adobe Acrobat Professional. We bought the license from a reseller of the product. We understand that the Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator is a server based software and needs 1 license per CPU. Each of our server (Dev, Val & Prod) have 2 CPU's so we have sufficient licenses (6). We are under the impression that this would suffice. How ever we are not sure on how many licenses we need for Acrobat Professional.
Here is a brief description of the way we would use Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator. We are deploying a PLM system and one of the requirement is to render Word documents to PDF so we are using PDF Generator for this capability. On our Adobe servers we will install Microsoft Word, Acrobat Professional V9 Extended and the Adobe Livecycle PDF Generator. We will have around 150 users for the PLM system being deployed. The PLM system is a Web based system which means the PLM application server will be running on a Solaris server in our case. As part of the workflows in the PLM system, at the end of the workflow process, the PLM server would trigger a request to the Adobe server to convert the word document to PDF. The Adobe server processess the request and returns the PDF file that gets generated.
Based on the above usage of the system how many licenses of Acrobat Professional do we need? We will be installing Acrobat only on the server where we install the Livecycle PDF Generator. We had a call with our purchasing person today and she cautioned us that for Adobe Acrobat Professional we might need 1 license per user of the PLM system. She has asked us to check this with the Vendor of the product. Somehow I don't think it makes sense to purchase so many Acrobat Professional licenses even though we install only once.
So can someone tell me How does the licensing for Adobe Livecycle PDF Generator work? How many Acrobat Professional licenses we actually need? Is it based on the number of users in the system that is triggering the request? Appreciate your response on this.

You really should talk to your Adobe Sales Rep about this. There are all kinds of special deals, licenses and such for customers using LiveCycle. (For instance the license for PDFG may include Acrobat licenses for certain uses).

Acrobat 10 and plug-ins for Acrobat 9 incompatibility?

Today I've installed trial version of Acrobat 10 to check if my plug-in for Acrobat 9 could run for it as well. But after Acrobat 10 launch I've got a window:
Acrobat.exe - Unable to Locate Component
This application has failed to start because MSVCP80.dll was not found.
Quick check over plug-ins shipped now inside Acrobat 10 showed me that they are using now MSVCP90.DLLL library instread of MSVCP80.dll used for Acrobat 9.
Does it mean that we need to recompile our source code with higher version of MS Visual Studio? If so - what version should we use?
Does it also mean that our plug-ins prepared for Acrobat 9 are incompatible with Acrobat 10 or there is some way they could still run without recompilation?
Any comments on this would be highly appreciated.

I always prefer to use shared libraries, i.e. DLLs, in their supposed shared way and not statically embedded into my executable if I know that some environment is pretty stable and customer is aware of various possible DLLs dependencies. If Acrobat could do some job for me - then I'm happy with that without allocation of additional memory/resources needed in case of static linking.
So, you don't answer my question. What C++ compiler's version should be used to put MSVCP90.DLL reference now instead of previously used MSVCP80.DLL?

Can I download Acrobat Professional Trial for Mac?

Is there any way to download the trial for Acrobat Professional for Mac from Adobe or have they not put it up? I've looked all over the site and on download.com and can't find it? We will be looking to buy but need to try it out first to see if it fits our requirements.
