Plug-in for Quicktime to play XDCam?

I'm working in XDCAM (with the Sony EX3 at 1080p 24fps). I want to deliver my current clients a Quicktime they can play directly from a new Mac PowerBook. I notice they can play a ProRes version without having anything additional installed; but when we tried an XDCAM version, no go.
Is there an easy way for them to get a plug-in that will allow Quicktime to play the XDCAM movie file format without having FCP installed on their laptop?
ProRes is great, but it's a rather large file for their laptop.
All ears,
Ben

  • .AVI Plug-in For Quicktime 7 Pro

    Does anyone happen to know how/where to get an AVI plug-in for Quicktime 7 Pro for Mac? I thought Quicktime played AVI video files, but I guess i was wrong or I'm just not doing something correctly?

    Hi Drew,
    I am having the same problem. You need to find out what CODEC the files you are downloading are. .AVI is a container format which may use many different CODEC. You then need to find and install those CODECs on your libary/quicktime folder. You'll find the necessary info here.

  • QuickTime only plays its audio through my interface

    I installed the Windows Media plug-in for QuickTime and I can now stream and preview content I could not have before. However, for some reason, the streaming content I wish to listen to (audio from a radio station) only plays through my audio interface.
    I would visit the web page that has the streaming content and their little commercial with video plays fine through my internal speakers. However, once the content I want to see starts playing, for some reason it plays through my audio interface connected via USB. The thing is, not only have I made sure that the audio preferences are set to 'internal speakers,' but at some point the content I want to hear actually played through my internal speakers! What am I doing wrong?

    That's weird! The content won't even play if I try unplugging the USB connection to my audio interface. It says "Unknown Error -2004."

  • Real 10 Export Plug-in for Mac OS X Doesn't Work?

    I need to create RealAudio .rm files from .aiff files. RealAudio now has an export plug-in for quicktime. I know it's not working for 10.4, but I'm on 10.3.9 with QT 7. An export of "Movie to Real Media" does now appear in the export menu. But trying to export an AIFF file starts the process but it instantly fails with an error "-2009". No indication what's going wrong. Any hints. The real.com website is no help.
    Is there a better solution for creating .rm real audio files?
    Here's the Real Export for MacOSX web page:

    I have tried this on 2 different machines and the only thing that worked was to reinstall quicktime 6. Apple does have a reinstalled for quicktime 6 from 7. http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime652reinstallerforquicktime701.ht ml

  • Playlist for Quicktime 6.5 ???

    Hi
    I use Windows XP Pro, and Quicktime 6.5 . I think quicktime is great, but its lacking some important KEY features. Where is the playlist?
    I know about the favourite list, but that's not the same, cause it requires manually switching. I got several movies in parts, and would like to view them all continousaly, without having to click and open the next part all the time.
    Apple are supposed to be Microsofts biggets treats, and are known for good service, good products, and stabile OS in comparistion to Microsoft who fails most of it.
    Still Microsoft Mediaplayer is more user friendly. It got a playlist, so I can add all parts and view it continousaly there. But it doesn't play .mov files. So I can not do the same with my split .mov files as they have to be viewed in QuickTime, who does not got a playlist for unknown reasons.
    Is there a add-on for Windows XP, which I can use to get a playlist? And are Apple planning to implement such handy tool in the future? I'm quite surprised that they havent already implemented it. I read the presentation of Quicktime 7.0, but there was no playlist mentioned in the features. WHY???
    All I want is a quicktime where I can add files to be played, as a playlist. Im not talking about merging movies. I would still like to see which movieparts are added to the list, and the order.
    I have tried to add those parts into one quitcktime window, but it doesn't get the right order. I have tried and watched so I know that it mixes up the parts 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 of that movie. It doesnt list the part names either, so I can not correct the order of which they are played.
    THATS WHY A PLAYLIST WOULD BE VERY VERY USEFUL. I'm trying to make a point here, because I should not be the first to tell Apple about this. But if I am, then I apologize for my language. At least Apple should be aware of this now, and do their best to add a playlist in the future.
    I have also read about the streaming servers, but thats for use over internet it says. Not for local use on my harddrive.
    Because if Apple want to be the best, they should also have the most userfriendly software. They would not want people to manually change the files all the time.
    I've read about some add-on for Mac users, where you can add and queque files for quicktime to play. Sounds like a playlist. But did not find any add-on for Windows XP who does the trick.
    I hope you can supply me with information about how I can get a real working playlist in my quicktime, cause its quite annoying to change file manually, when all I want to do is watch the movies continuously.
    Thanks in advance.

    As you have discovered, QuickTime Player has no playlist feature. If you want suggest one to Apple, you can do so through the feedback page. Keep in mind that QuickTime for Windows is a free product, so it's not going to get the same sort of development resources as would a product for which you have to pay (and you pay for Windows Media Player as part of the cost of Windows XP).
    As to an immediate solution, there are QuickTime-compatible players for Macs that have playlist features, so perhaps you can find one for Windows. Try searching VersionTracker for "QuickTime" and perhaps you'll find something.
    Good luck.

  • Convert WMV files to MPEG  and/or  get Quicktime plug-in for WMV and AVI

    Hi Apple experts,
    I need to convert some WMV files to MPEG format or something that will play natively on a Mac in QuickTime or iTunes.
    I was advised that the VLC app that will convert WMV to MPEG4?... but the page at the URL below indicates that this version of VLC is a player and does not say anything about converting WMV to MPEG...
    http://vlc-download.com/download-vlc/?gclid=COrY_NKghKYCFQN7gwoduQy4qA
    I would like to convert WMV files to MPEG so they will play in QuickTime or in iTunes on a Mac by just double-clicking them... for family members with Macs like me.
    I am working on a PC where I am right now, but I have Macs at home and at work. I am on a PC for the time being at a friends place and I've produced a few .wmv files in Windows Live Movie Maker 2011. (Sorry Steve, it's just for a test).
    QuickTime will not play WMV files, nor AVI files, but it indicates that it can use a plug-in to do so, but the QuickTime webpage for plug-ins that it takes me to doesn't have any plug-ins for WMV or AVI format files.
    Of course the Windows Media Player plays the WMV and AVI files, but is there also a way to make them play in QuickTime or iTunes besides converting them?
    Thanks so much,
    numetro

    Hi QTKirk,
    I would like to be able to just give my family these files on a CD for high-res viewing on a computer, in addition to the DVDs that I have made for their TVs.
    Since I don't control what they install on their computers, they don't necessarily have Flip4Mac on their Macs like I do... I just want them to be able to play MPEGs from a file on a CD or on their hard drives by simply double-clicking them.
    After working with the recommended VLC player that also allegedly converts WMV files to MPEGs, for 8 hours, I have a result with the 7th attempt that mimics the worst kind of modern digital art that I've ever seen... I wish I could plug in the screenshot of the MPEG video that VLC produced... completely useless garbage.
    Are there any other suggestions for a converter that simply handles converting WMV to any kind of MPEG file?
    FFE was going to be the one that I tried until I read a post about VLC... that turned out to be a waste of 8 hours of sleepless time.

  • QuickTime Plug-In For Internet Explorer

    Hi Everyone ... I'm having a slight problem here. I want the QT plug-in for IE to be disabled. The reason being is that I get sent a lot of links (just links) for work and when I click on them the plug-in plays the file. This becomes a problem because I need to save these to my hard drive, that is not allowed in the plug-in. Before installing QT / itunes 7 a box would pop up and let me select 'open' or 'save as'. How do I get back to this way?

    It sounds like what you are trying to do is bypass the purchase of the "Pro" upgrade.
    Web authors get to "control" their content any way they wish. If they choose the QuickTime plug-in to enable this "control" you'll either have to purchase the Pro upgrade (this doesn't mean you'll automatically be able to save their work) or find other methods to "borrow" their content.
    Anyone can find the "source" to QT content by simply viewing the html source code. Open these files in your browser and use its "Save" menu to keep a local copy.
    Here is the drill:
    If the file "directly" links to a QT content file (or something it can open) you can open the file in your browser. Once the download is complete you can use the browser to "save" the file.
    Works for any browser and any file format QuickTime understands.
    Many Web authors prevent saving by either disabling the source (I do) or preventing "right-click" (kioskmode="true"). If they don't want you to use the file it is very easy for them to prevent you from saving a file.
    Learn how to "read" the html code of a page. You can "borrow" nearly any file.

  • HT201066 There is no QuickTime or any other plug-in for Safari anymore!!

    I'm going back to a Windows PC if I can't listen to music on the Internet anymore.  I've looked everywhere for a decent plug-in to listen to MP3 files, or any music files, and it doesn't seem to exist.  Yet a Windows 8 machine comes with a plug-in to the Explorer from the factory.    QuickTime never sounded great to begin with, but to totally take any media away from the browser isn't a good idea.  Windows Media used to have a plug-in for Safari, and that cannot be found with an Internet search, either.

    Of course there is no plug-in, I don't have one.  Plugin missing.  I'm trying to get one installed. I have iTunes, RealPlayer, and QuickTime that plays any music file I have on my hard drive.  None has an option to install the plug-in to the browser.

  • Hello there - I am sharing an iPhoto library across two accounts on the same computer - it works fine EXCEPT for Quicktime movies - they play on one account and claim I don't have the rights on the other - all permissions are on and ok?

    Hello there - I am sharing an iPhoto library across two accounts on the same computer - it works fine EXCEPT for Quicktime movies - they play on one account and claim I don't have the rights on the other - all permissions are on and ok?

    It should be in the Users/ Shared folder.
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Note the option to check and repair Library Permissions

  • Quicktime (Windows) Plug-in for PureVoice (QCP) files...

    Greetings,
    Whether on my G4 laptop or my XP Pro (fully updated) desktop, the Quicktime Plugin refuses to display an embedded player for .qcp files, which are a highly compressed cellphone audio file.
    This occurs across Mozilla Firefox, Windows Explorer etc. in both the Mac and Win flavors.
    I am using the latest version of Quicktime (7.1.5 Pro) and the same (7.1.5) version of the plugin.
    I have read the other posts guiding users to the Qualcomm site to download a copy of PureVoice Player or converter. I have them.
    What I want is for Quicktime, in both Win and Mac, to actually play the files, embedded or not. When not embedded, Quicktime returns an Error -2048: the file is not a movie file
    It is an audio file, it is recognized in the plugin setup and filetypes configuration as an audio file by Quicktime but still won't play.
    ===============================================
    The plugin HAS WORKED at times. But adjusting ANY setting will suddenly make it stop and it can't be restored.
    ===============================================
    • I have deleted all of the plugin files in both QT and the browsers and attempted to start fresh.
    • I have un-installed and re-installed Quicktime Pro
    • I have stripped out the default programs which load on startup to bare essentials.
    • I have checked filetype associations and ensured that QT or QT plugin are configured as the defaults.
    •I have checked the Mozilla "about:plugings" view and QT Plugin is designated as the correct application to use for embedded .qcp (mime type=audio/vnd.qcelp)
    Is there anyone here who knows what to try next?
    Self-built P4 3.2GHz/G4 Mac laptop Mac OS X (10.4.8) WinXPpro SP2/fully updated
    Self-built P4 3.2GHz

    OK, I tried to change the code, as reflected here:
    <object width="300" height="42">
    <param name="src" value="mms/20070425061847_2.qcp">
    <param name="autoplay" value="false">
    <param name="controller" value="true">
    <embed qtsrc="mms/20070425061847_2.qcp" autostart="false" loop="false" width="300" height="16" controller="true"></embed>
    </object>
    This results in the embedded player disappearing entirely from the page.
    Even in Pro, I can't "save" the file because the plugin is not functioning.
    By the way, it displays perfectly for .mid files.
    Thank You for your reply...and please share any other ideas. I'm still working with the "qtsrc" idea.
