Plug-in licensing

With all the commercial plug-in development that's been done, i'm sure several have crossed this bridge. Any decent non-intrusive ways of implementing copy protection? I scanned this forum all the way back to '07 and didn't find a single post on this. Not much info on Google either.

Although the Reader plug-in technology is based on signatures, this is not the right forum to reach people who might have the answer. You need the Acrobat SDK forum.
I should say, though, that all available information is in the first link you quoted, and I recommend you apply immediately because past discussions show that it can take a long time.  The application form clearly gives the information needed e.g. "Please provide a full and complete detailed description of the features, functionality, purpose and uses of the plug-in". Be accurate and thorough. Remember that Adobe reject many requests, and do not need to give a reason. Remember that a purpose of the program, arguably almost the only purpose of the program is to protect and encourage revenue and you may have to replace revenue lost from sales of Acrobat. The cost of DRM plug-ins is quoted, all others are by negotiation (well, Adobe quote you a value, I don't think there is much scope for negotation in reality).

Developing commercial website using Reader browser plugin displaying pdfs.
Is this in violation of Reader use license?
Have read but hoping for second opinion.

    Hi G,
Lets try this. Install the LV71NPlugin file, in the attached image, in the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins directory. I had to save the image with a different extension to be able to upload it to the forum so...
    1) Download the file
    2) Change the file extension from "abc" to "dmg"
    3) Copy LV71NPlugin to /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Please let me know if this works for you.
    Thanks

  • Plug-in licensing software

I continue to have trouble with the licensing software
I am using for my plug-in. Has anyone found a good solutiuon? for an Adobe plug-in?

Amazingly there are still quite a few photographers/shops around that don't have high end equipment, cranking out senior pictures on a couple of 3880s, with 2-3 macs/pcs using lower cost monitors.  I do the best I can to aim them at reasonable displays (stay away from Frys, procure monitors with ips panels, etc.) but they are reluctant to spend several grand for the premium stuff.
It might do some of you good to roam around the real world occasionally.

  • Adobe Marketplace: sell plug-in as volume license

    Hello community,
we want to develop and sell a plugin for Adobe InDesign. Main target market are universities and companies.
Some questions: is it possible to create a bundle of 100 plug-in licenses which can be used with one Adobe-ID?
Why: some companies use Volume Licensing and I suppose only use one Adobe-ID. It is possible to sell plug-ins (100x) for use with one Adobe-ID?
Is there any information about this on the Adobe website?
    thanks
    regards,
    Raymond

    Hello Raymond
I ran into your question looking for the same information.
    Any luck figuring this out?

  • CS6, Ikegami MXF NOT Supported In Prelude & AME With Plug-In Installed?

    Hi all,
The curse of the Ikegami MXF strikes again!  Just installed CS6 including all of the latest Adobe updates which are so far so good.  I love a lot of the new features though I haven't  had much of a chance to get to any nitty gritty editing at this point. I am especially excited about Prelude!
I also purchased the corresponding latest version of this plug-in:
    http://www.mainconcept.com/products/apps-plug-ins/plug-ins-for-adobe/t otalcode-cs-5-6.htmlhttp://
...which allows PPro to package the Ikegami MXF files for import through the Media Browser.  I assumed the plug-in would translate to Prelude and AME as well to ingest/import Ikegami MXF properly.  Initially I tested it only in PPro, which was successful, and went back today to perform various transcode tests in the hopes of having to only purhcase one pricey plug-in license rather having to purchase three in total.  Unfortunately Prelude does not seem to recognize the plug-in...Here's a screen shot of the media browser in PPro vs. Prelude.
I also attempted to import straight into AME to attempt an Ikegami transcode.  I was pretty positive that method would not work, and I was correct.  AME crashed when a single Ikegami MXF video file was imported.
Please tell me this is an issue/bug? that can be fixed! Or my enthusiasm that Prelude will be the solution to my CatDV/Ikegami incompatibility will be deflated...I really don't want to be forced into a situation involving the tedious workflow of exporting/transcoding individual Ikegami clips out of PPro to be used on our other two editors and/or having to battle with a tightening state bureacracy for money to purchase two more expensive Total Code licenses...

    Zac,
I have contacted MainConept per your request, but I will also mention here that I have not been able to re-create the AME crash as noted at the start of the thread.  Total Code does work was promised within AME, but Prelude is still left hanging.
While Prelude does not provide video previews/playback/scrubbing of Ikegami MXF like the Media Browser in PPRo does, it will sucessfully transcode, what appears to be a video only file, into a sucessful self-contained video clip with the appropriate associated MXF audio.   The successful transcodes from Prelude led me to believe that to some degree Prelude recognizes the Total Code plug-in even though the key feature of Prelude, video playback, is inaccessible.  Though this quote from MainConcept says otherwise.
"What made you thinking that the TotalCode Importer probably was used because you were able to export Ikegami footage from Prelude is caused by the case that Prelude deals with pathes for that purpose. It doesn't need an importer for that."
I am hoping to utilize Prelude at the start of every edit session to selectively edit which files from a camera media card, including Ikegami GFPaks, will be copied/transcoded to their final storage location prior to editing, as Prelude is designed to do.
Another Prelude observation is that user presets created in AME, including some created using third-party plug-ins like UT and GoPro Cineform, are accessible in the transcode options within Prelude, while any Total Code based user presets created in AME are not visible in the Prelude transcode options.
I have a good feeling that now this conversation has been initiated bewtween the three parties that a solution will be reached! Finger crossed!
    Thanks again,
    Lindsay

  • Entering license information into CF8 Developers Edition?

I have downloaded and installed CF8 Developers Edition.
    I currently own CF 6.1.
I want to buy the upgrade to CF 8 and plug the license
information into CF8 Developers Edition so I don't have to
reinstall it. However, I can't seem to find anywhere within the CF
Admin to accomplish this. I have search on the CF Forum and even
contacted an Adobe Coldfusion Sales Rep., but no one can seem to
know how to do this. The Adobe CF website indicates that this is
    possible.
    Thanks for the help.

Open the CF Administrator and then click the I icon in the
    top right corner

Add your license in the New License filed and click Submit

  • [SOLVED] HP LaserJet 1020 Installation impossible... yet

By following Arch wiki instructions, I've installed CUPS, and related packages for my printer. I've configured CUPS (Adding user to lp group and setting SystemGroup root lp) and restarted it. First, I've tried to install drivers using hp-setup method. There was a python related problem, so I've found solution for this with these commands
    cd /tmp
    ln -s /usr/bin/python2.7 python

    export PATH
Then I've tried to install again using command
    hp-setup -g -i

  • Setting AEP Documents to Open by Default with Adobe After Effects CC NOT Adobe After Effect CC 2014 on a Mac

I have installed some of the CC 2014 products for testing. Until the rest my department moves from CC to CC 2014 I need to open and create new projects in CC as the CC 2014 AEP's won't open in other versions.
The issue is when I try to change the file association, in the Get Info inspector, from "Adobe After Effects CC.app" to "Adobe After Effects CC 2014.app" and hit "Change All" it always reverts back to CC 2014. I have tried this as an administrator and even when logged in as administrator. It is like Creative Cloud overrides it. You can do one at a time but you cannot set the default.
I would like to "roll back" my file associations for AE and PS to CC but I don't want to uninstall the 2014 versions if possible as I have already install many plug-ins, license keys, scripts, etc. and everything is working fine within the apps. Is it possible?
    Thanks for any help.

    Zenco Havoc wrote:
Its because of my graphics card.
That makes no sense at all. CC 2014 is available in the Creative Cloud App. Just download it. The system requirements for both are the same. IF CC runs, CC 2014 will.

  • Flash builder4 and zend studio 7.1.2

Hi I need help, I just installed flash builder 4, I currently have zend studio 7.1.2
I want to know how to enable the flex thing in my zend studio.
can somebody please tell me how to do it ?,
is flash builder installation enough to enable the flex thing in zend studio 7.1.2 ?
(am planning to use this for air development, please help thanks )

You don't have to buy a separate plug-in license. When you buy Flash Builder, you can use your license for standalone, plug-in or both.
When you use the plug-in installer, one of the first prompts is to install into a bundled Eclipse distribution or an existing one. Choose the eclipse root for your Zend Studio installation.
Also, can you provide more information about the crash? Mac/Win, java version, crash details, etc.

  • HPLIP auto install: does it work?

I just bought an HP printer. Then I was installing HPLIP during 2.5 days; more than expected. (Needless to say I was cursing HP the last day). Now I am happy to succeed, but I also feel that it was a good luck. I think this story should be shared.
I am a Linux user since 1998, of rather low geekness. Almost always I use precompiled binaries. Thus I hoped to use auto install (and ultimately did). Last years I use Debian.
It seems I understand now the origin of the problem. People of hplipopensource.com take the current release of Debian (among other distros), and adapt auto-installer to this release. After that, Debian people include this new version of auto-installer to the next release of Debian. And so on. As a result, the auto-installer never works! It always complains that this release is not supported yet.
I installed Debian 7.1 from my (somewhat old) DVDs. I instructed the installer not to use any network mirror. Do not laugh, this is essential. (When I did otherwise, I got Debian 7.4 instead of 7.1 - not supported yet...) According to this Debian release, the Installation Wizard gave me auto-installer 'hplip-3.14.1.run'. Running it I got a message: "Disable the CD sources in your apt sources list". Frankly, I use Synaptic rather than apt. Well, I've found this /etc/apt/sources.list and commented out all CD sources. Running hplip again I saw that it fails to install even gcc. Well, no wonder: no network mirror. I added a network mirror. The rest was rather easy.
So, I got the impression that a not-so-geeky Linux user, like me, have some positive, but rather small probability to pass through all timing conditions before selling his/her new HP printer. Indeed, if Linux is quite new, it is not yet supported. If it is a bit older than needed, a new hplip fails for this reason, while an old hplip does not support the brand new printer (I guess so; I did not try). And most importantly: the hplip site tells me that
Debian 7.1 supplies HPLIP 3.12.6 and it does support your printer.
As the version of HPLIP supplied with your operating system supports your printer, you may continue to use that version of HPLIP.
That is true; but it forgets to add that my distro contains an outdated version; it just does not work. What a catch!
Or maybe I am naive somehow? Others seem to feel better. What do I miss?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Wow, it does work, the HPLIP auto install!
    See my session below.
The following five points appeared to be critical for me.
    1. The hplip site says:
"Debian 7.1 supplies HPLIP 3.12.6 and it does support your printer. As the version of HPLIP supplied with your operating system supports your printer, you may continue to use that version of HPLIP". No, do not believe. Download the last version (in my case, hplip-3.14.1.run), later called "XXX.run".
    2. Ensure that your repositories contain no CD/DVD (the auto-installer will warn you), and do contain "main" and "contrib" (the auto-installer will not warn you); "non-free" is not needed. I did it via Synaptic Package manager (Settings->Repositories).
    3. Run the XXX.run file by a command line "sh XXX.run" issued in the terminal window under GUI (not the console). Do not be root, and do not use "sudo". Rather, you need to know the root password.
    4. You'll get an error message like this: "error: debian-7.4 version is not supported, so all dependencies may not be installed. However trying to install using debian-7.2 version packages".
Do not bother too much; in my case this was harmless. Answer "y".
    5. The final error message "RuntimeWarning: PyOS_InputHook is not available for interactive use of PyGTK set_interactive(1)" is also harmless.
    After the message
"PRINTER SETUP. Please make sure your printer is connected and powered on at this time"
you should get a graphical panel
"HP Device Manager - Setup. Device discovery".
Do the needed choice (in my case, USB), click "Next". You should get another graphical panel
"HP Device Manager - Plug-in Installer. Driver Plug-in Installation".
Choose "Download", click "Next" and be patient; in my case it took 5 minutes, with no visible progress. Next graphical panel:
"Driver Plug-in License agreement". Browse it to the end, click "Agree"; observe message "Plug-in installation successful", click "OK".
The last graphical panel: "HP Device Manager - Setup. Setup Device". Mark "Send test page", click "add printer" and hope for the best.

  • Waves USB key keeps "ejecting" in Logic X

I have a USB stick that contains my Waves plug ins licenses. I have never had an issue with this method in previous versions of Logic Pro; however, in Logic X I experience a nearly continual series of "Disk Not Ejected Properly" messages from the Waves stick. Any ideas ...?
    Thanks in advance!

As a temporary workaround until a proper 'fix' is found for this issue...
Create a small text file using textedit and save it to the 'stick'
Now open the text file, minimize it and leave it open.... This should stop the 'stick' being ejected....
Note: Some older USB 2 drives/sticks have this issue under Mavericks and as yet no confirmed resolution has been found.. hence the workaround.. which has been reported as working quite well under these circumstances...

  • Global Setup and multiprocessor rendering

Apparently my effect's global setup is called multiple times when rendering on a multi-processor machine.
Since I check for a valid plug-in license in global setup, I wind up checking multiple times.
    Global setup isn't truly global.
Is there any way to know if my plug-in has been run already in a session?

    really?
    i never noticed that.
anyways, i've given it some thought, and there are a few ways.
you should look into PF_PlatData_RES_REFNUM and PF_PlatData_RES_DLLINSTANCE.
these will tell you the current index of your plug-in.
i never tried this, but hopefully the value of the first is 1, so anything higher would mean that your plug-in is already loaded.
and you still need to tell what the first instance decided about the licence.
besides that, you have two other options i can think of.
    a. write a flag to a file, and read that file. (include a time stamp so validation won't be for ever)
    b. create an AEGP and have your plug-in store their common results with it.
all of these solutions sound more troublesome than just letting your plug-in check it's licence twice (or whatever number of cores you have).
i probably have the same problem with my plug-ins, and i never found it slows the user down.
    it's less than a blink.

  • CS6 Student/Teacher Edition - Where to re-download

I had to uninstall my CS6 Student/Teacher Edition due to some problems I was having with the software (Adobe Pro kept locking up exactly 8 seconds after opening it).
I want to re-download the software now, and in My Account under My Products & Services, I am able to find my license number, which is great. My question is, do I just download a trial version of CS6 and then plug my license number into that? Or is there a different download somewhere specifically for the "Student/Teacher" Edition that I need to download instead? If so, where do I go for that because I cannot find it anywhere.
    Thanks,
    Jo

    Thank you!
On another note, I just went into my Control Panel and under Programs & Features, found Adobe CS6. If I click that and then click Uninstall, it brings up a box where I can select one or more components of CS6. It seems odd to me that Acrobat X Pro is in the list. I had already uninstalled it separately through the Control Panel (or so I had thought). Do I need to run this uninstall also before re-installing it?
Also, is there any way to download and install JUST the Adobe X Pro for CS6? I'd love to avoid having to reinstall all of the components (and having to re-do all the customized settings I've created for each program!).
    Thanks,
    Jo

  • How to apply for self-developed plug-in signatures licensing about Adobe Reader

Our company is doing something in the field of electronic certification industry, which uses Adobe reader to sign PDF files based on various signature algorithms. While, there is a problem that Adobe reader does not support PDF signature based on the signature algorithm of SM2. To solve the problem, we have developed an API file. And now, we can use the Adobe Professional version sign files Successfully, only by put the API file under the folder named Adobe plug-in, but not work well in Adobe Reader. According to the documentation, such as http://www.adobe.com/cn/devnet/reader/ikla.html and http://www.adobe..com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/plugin_apps_developer_guide .pdf, in Adobe Acrobat Reader, a self-developed plug-in we have developed need to be signed or obtain the relevant certification by Adobe before use.
If we propose certification and licensing applications to Adobe to ask the possibility of obtaining permission for our plug-in, what are the specific processes and requirements we need to know? Any useful information, I would be grateful. (Including the information we need to provide, as well as the cost and the certification time, etc.)
