Since my upgrade to Lion, my plug-in for quicktime stopped working. Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions?

If you have any Safari Extensions installed, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari. See if that makes a difference.

Mac mini shows 0 with / throught it when I insert lion USB

I have an i5 Mac mini. It is 3 months old. I have had issues with the app store since I bought it. The issue is that it takes days to download. I don't have this problem on any thing else in the house. I was told to reload lion. Well I went to recovery and after 5 days it would not load still. I purchased the lion USB installer to not even worry about the Internet. I do have 30mbps download speeds and is working great. Since I was doing a fresh install I upgraded the hard drive to the 740 gig hybrid momentous drive. I cloned the old hard drive and all works but still the app store is slow. I plugged the lion USB in and I get the 0 with the / line through it. I am lost I have tried all that I can think of. Right now I am copying the old hard drive back to the new one until I can see if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks if you can help

Give this a try. Get yourself a USB memory
stick and download this:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1433.
This will create a Recovery HD on the memory stick.
Then boot to that and complete wipe the internal
using the disk utility on the memory stick. When
that completes, then try doing the Lion reinstall
from the Recovery HD on the memory stick.

Moan about Reports ability to output to Excel

Hi there
This is more of a general moan on this topic, but am I the only person who thinks that Oracle Reports' ability to output to excel should be WAY better than it is at the moment?
I've just looked at the 9i demo, showing how to get report output into excel. It was horrific - grubbing round in raw html code and setting up an Excel template with dummy data doesn't make Reports the slick reporting tool that we'd all like.
Guys @ Oracle - have a look at Cognos Impromptu - I'm definitely no fan of Cognos, as I prefer to be able to define exactly what I want in SQL. However, one thing they have got right is the facility to save report output into formatted Excel - Oracle Reports should have this too!!
At the moment, if I'm asked to produce a report in Excel format, I have to either use PL/SQL to generate a CSV file with the results I want, or Oracle Reports to produce a similar CSV file. I then have to open the CSV file in Excel and format it, change column widths etc, so that it looks presentable. If it's a regular-running report, I have to manually intervene every time the report is produced. Producing a similar report in Cognos (for all its faults) would require no manual intervention once it's set up, and the whole process can be controlled with macro language and the Cognos Scheduler.
So please, improve this feature of Reports!

All I'd like to be able to do is to write an Oracle Report and have the figures from the report delivered in an Excel spreadsheet. (A number of report users here specify that they want their reports delivered in this way.)
Oracle Reports (I'm on version 6i) allows me to generate a .csv file which will open in Excel, but there's no formatting present. My point was simply that I have to manually intervene to produce a .xls which is formatted properly. In Cognos Impromptu, after the report has been run, you just select SaveAs->(input filename) and select 'Excel with Format' for SaveAs Type. The output is a pretty good approximation of how the output appears on the screen. You can run reports automatically using a scheduler, and with macro language, you can deliver the report in this format with no further intervention needed. If Cognos can do this, then so can Oracle!!
Incidentally, I've noticed that every post on this forum which mentions Excel receives a plug from Lion Van for his RepExcel product. I had a look at his website and it looks pretty good - perhaps Oracle should approach him with a generous offer?! I'm not sure however that these forums should be used for advertising in this way.

Alternative to run PowerPC or Flash apps on 10.7..?

Guys,
I am insanely annoyed and disappointed with the way Apple shook me with the notification "This app cannot be run since the PowerPC is no longer supported."
I was trying to take one of those tests which we run through a CD and a full length test is programmed in a Flash or alike program.
How do I do that?
This is has made me think of withdrawing from Apple instruments. It makes life harder day by day.

Flash has nothing to do with PowerPC applications.
Just go to the Adobe site and download the Flash plugin and install it.
PowerPC was killed off about six years ago. Apple has supported running them on Intel with an emulator of sorts which they licensed, but did not own. After giving developers and users long enough to replace the outdated sofware, they finally pulled the plug with Lion. The only way you can run them is to revert back to Snow Leopard, or use a computer that can run Snow Leopard or earlier.

Was just on the phone with Apple about this.
The solution was as follows for me anyway...
Go to your Finder
Choose the Go Menu
Choose Computer
Choose your Macintosh Hard Drive
Choose your "Library" Folder
Choose the "Preferences" Folder
There should be a folder called "Audio"
Move that whole folder to the trash
Empty the Trash
Restart from the Apple Menu
When you are back up and running;
     Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu
     Choose Sound
      In the output tab you should now be able to make the HDMI "Sticky"
      Enjoy your sound over HDMI and no more dirty knees or broken backs unplugging the desktop speakers!

In 10.7 there is not a twain that works with Photoshop for importing with all the options needed to scan transparencies. I noticed that when I was scanning in October 2012 I was still using CS6 so somehow I was managing to be able to use all the scan features.
They sell 2nd party software (VieScan and Silverscript)which I found to be just mimially OK and very hard to use.
I just want to scan like I used to.
Can I use time machine to go back to an earlier operating sysytem LEOPARD, and then do my scans and then save the photos and them go back to the LION system?
I spent 7 hours trying crazy solutions - downloading Windows CS2 Photoshop and then using a program so I could run it on the apple. Then I couldn't figure out how to put a plug in for the scanner in the stupid windows Photoshop program. Googgling the computer like a mad woman trying to ask questions. I am not giving up...

QuickTime Plug-In Failure in Safari under Lion - HELP!

I'm building my website in iWeb, using MP4s (H.264) files. When I publish and visit the live site, Safari will not read the movies and instead gives me a "plug-in failure" error. Meanwhile, the files play no problem in every other browers. This is a Lion bug. I tried emptying the cache, re-setting Safari, running in 32-bit mode, and choosing QT7 to open all QT files. Nothing helps. Please advise. Thanks!

FYI, I've checked ALL the other posts with similar issues including the solution to remove the Quicktime Plugin.plugin, and still nothing works. I did notice that I had this older plugin. I added the extention webplugin which changed the icon to a Lion icon, but that didn't help either. Could it be that Lion failed to install the latest plugin? If so, how can I get this file? I really don't want to archive and install over one lousy plugin. Thanks.

I installed Mountain Lion and now I cannot watch anything on flash player. It just says incompatable plug-in. I was instructed to download the latest version of flash play which I have done but it makes no difference what so ever.

As stated above. I need to upload pictures to my business website but now my upload box is just saying incompatable plug in. I wish I had never installed Lion as I was happy with my mac on its origional OS, I only installed it as my Java had disappeared and I was instructed on the java page that to upload the latest verion of Java I needed to upgrade to Lion. iMovie HD (in reality HD5) - doesn't work under Mac OS X.7 - at all
iMovie HD6 - can take Plug-ins and run under Mac OS X.7 - BUT some of the Plug-ins doesn't work under X.7

I purchased Huawei Dongle and trying to connect with my new MacBook Pro (OS- Mountain Lion) USB port 3.0 but unfortunately it does not support.
When I plugged in my macbook the power is flowing in dongle due green light blinking twice in every 3 sec but no connection found or diver shown.

Yes Clinton I did same, but they were (Huawei customer support) surprised about this problem, They behave like they have no idea about USB 2.0 and 3.0 knowledge. They handsUp that reason I posted my problem in this forum.
So is there any better solution to use any mediator between these USB version handling, Please let me know.

No and Yes
Don't use TM for this purpose, clone your drive to an external, plug the external into another MBP and reboot from it. Please note that booting a machine that came with Lion may not be possible from a drive with Snow Leopard.

You just need to tell iTunes where the library is located. If you want it back on your internal drive, copy the entite iTunes folder. Follow the instructions below.
