Plug-In very slow to load (first) applet - is IPv6 the problem?

G'day,
I've previously reported a similar [problem on Windows 2000|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa] which is also affecting Vista (though not as extreme).
Each time the Plug-In is launched there is a long delay before the applet is started - during this period I simply see the animated Java logo, no change to its (empty) progress bar and no chatter on the Java Console (trace-level 5).
There is no delay starting the applet when reloading the page or when subsequently visiting other web-pages hosting applets. With the "next generation" Plug-In the JPI is sometimes shutdown and then later relaunched. The delay occurs each time the Plug-In is relaunched.
For example, when I visit [http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml] the delay is 90 seconds on Vista (JRE6.0_12, IE7 & FF3) versus only 20 seconds on Linux (JRE6.0_12, FF3).
When I dump the running threads in the Console during the delay I noticed an IPv6 method call (stack trace shown at end) is always running - could it be the culprit?
I'll also try jstack as suggested in the other thread and report back.
Thanks,
Chris.

Thanks SoCalGuy...I've been going nutzoid over this problem with the new Firefox 5 and later. Searched the internet and no credible solutions available. I've installed Firefox 6 beta 2 and same problem. Every time I shut down my computer and reboot, Firefox 5 (and higher) takes an eternity to start. No such issue with IE9 or Chrome. Been a long time fan of F/F but this has really tested my patience - no apparent fix and what has been suggested on the internet is a load of goobledygook. Hate to say it but unless F/F addresses this issue I might have to head north. Sob...

  • FF 6.02 freezes for 20-30 seconds; websites sometimes very slow to load. Didn't have these problems until I installed latest update

Firefox often freezes, when opening websites; stalls for 20-30 seconds before responding. This happens on various websites..nothing in particular. This problem began after I download and installed the latest security upgrade--6.0.2

As a temporary get around, dare I say it? I'm using Google Chrome which doesn't have this glitch in it. Been doing so for a couple of days now and no problems at all. I've gone back to Firefox a few times and the two or three second freeze every 10 or 15 seconds resumes, so I'll maybe check Firefox in a few months and see if there is any improvement. Or maybe, I'll be so used to Chrome by then I won't bother.
    Hope this suggestion helps.

  • Safari very slow to load pages

Someone who help me with my Safari. Always that I want to go to a new page my Safari is very slow to load that page. It's loading the page for a long time without opening. I have done everything to fix it, but nothing has worked.
I have a Macbook Pro late 2011 with Yosemite 10.10.2 and my Safari is 8.0.3 version.
Here is a capture of what happens

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If the Downloads button (with the icon of a downward-pointing arrow) is showing in the toolbar, click it and then click Clear in the box that appears. The download history will be removed. Any change?
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Follow the instructions in this support article. Any change?
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the boxes marked Safari and Photos, if they're checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • Premiere Pro CC locking up and very slow to load bigger projects

I am having a problem with premirepro cc locking up and very slow to load bigger projects.
    Windows 8 machine

I am having the EXACT same issue and now we are WAY behind deadlines.  We have Adobe for Teams on 3 computers, all are HPZ820, Dual Proc with Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2650 @ 2.00GHz, 32 GB RAM, Dual Video Cards Quadro 6000 4GB, Windows 7 64 bit with all the latest patches.  Everything worked on the first release of 2014 but last week there was an "update" to Premiere.  Since this update, projects work for a short period.  When you start a new project and add footage, you can scrub the footage and play the footage with no issue.  But the more assets you add, simple Titles, it slowly starts to fail.  Playing the timeline starts and stops and then finally the end result is you can't even play the timeline.  The Program window is frozen.  I have even tested starting a new project, adding assets one by one but no matter what, I get the same results.

  • Since upgrading to ios8, pages very slow to load, and can no longer read items in my reading list when offline. ?????

SI since upgrading to ios8, Safari pages are very slow to load, Kindle crashes upon opening, and I can no longer read saved artices from my reading list when offline. Big disappointment. Is it possible to downgrade to previous ios?

I actually managed to fix it! But unfortunately I don't know what I was that I did that helped.
Anyways, this is kind of what I did.
    1. I tried to reset form bakup via iTunes, no change.
    2. I tried to reset as a new iPhone, problem still there and reading list also as bookmarks!? (several hundred)
    3. Noticed that I could delete a bookmark, once in a while, the other times I got the 'Bookmarks are being synced. Please edit the bookmarks once syncing has completed.' message.
    4. Because I figured that it was a memory problem, I thought it made sense to delete as many as possible, witch I did.
    5. Noticed that it was more likely that I coould delete a bookmark if I restarted Safari.
    6. Notice that it was even more likely that I could delete a bookmark if I turned the Safari sync with iCould off (with option detete information on iPhone) and then back on again.
    7. When I was about half way through deleting the bookmark list I suddenly discovered that all but one of the items in my reading list was 'waiting' and one was downloading. I kind of was 'unstuck' now.
    8. I started to delete items in my reading list, but every other time I got the 'Bookmarks are being synced. Please edit the bookmarks once syncing has completed.' message.
    9. It took a while to delete all bookmarks and items in the reading list.
Hope you guys could use the info here to fix your problems too!

  • Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags.

Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags. I've tried everything (e.g virus, defrag, I've created a new profile in "run", etc). I've had my router/line etc all checked and after 2 weeks of cleaning/testing etc its all pointing to Firefox as the problem. Please help as it's driving me nuts.

I have the exact same problem.
Not only does it load pages very slowly, sometimes the page will stop for a good 45 seconds and stop loading, only to finish it much later.
Something is wrong with Firefox 12, it shouldn't be this slow.
How is that each version is progressively worse than the one before it?.
Stop releasing so many versions Mozilla, release one that works and build from there.

  • PS CC 2014 very slow to load and operate after 2014.2 update

I updated my Photoshop CC 2014 64bit today.  It was working perfectly up to the update.  Since the update, PSCC 2014 has been very, very slow to load and slow in use.  I have uninstalled PS used the PS Cleaner and reinstalled through CC Desktop.  The speed problem remains.  Interestingly, 3D is the Menu feature that seems to take the longest to load.  In other words, the program eventually loads, but 3D appears 6 or 7 seconds later.  I don't know if this is significant.  The setup was working fine up to the update.
Grateful for any ideas about what may be the problem and what I can do about it.
My system is a 3770K, with 32Gb ram, x4 SSDs one dedicated to OS and programs and the others to data, and an Asus GTX660 (2Gb) graphics card.  I am using the latest driver from the Nvidia site.  OS is Windows 7 64bit.
I am getting no error messages - just great sluggishness.
    Thanks.

Sorry for the delay in responding.  I had to get some sleep.
Changing "sniffer" made no difference I'm afraid.  I have put it back to "sniffer.exe" having tried reopening with "~sniffer" twice with no success.
Resources.  The maximum cpu resource used during the period from clicking the desktop icon to the menus in the program becoming usable is 23%.
At the end of the splash screen when "initializing panels" is briefly on the splash screen, the line for the resource meter for the cpu went red and said "not responding" - the red disappeared once the workspace was active:

  • Very slow page loading on Safari

I am having problems with my Mac. I am not sure if it is the Safari software or something else. For the past several weeks my computer has been very slow at loading pages, going to the next page, going back to a previous page etc. Can anyone tell me what I need to do or check to make it run faster. It used to run very fast. Thanks Vickie

I had a similar problem with Safari (or any browser) taking a very long time to load pages. Downloading files is fast (6 Mbit/s) so I knew my network speed was OK. I usually run wirelessly both at work and home and the problem was the same no matter where I was working. When I directly connected to an Ethernet line, browsing was fast again so I looked into the network setting for my airport connection and found I had switched the "Location" from "Automatic" to a specific DHCP setting. I don't know why but when I switched back to "Automatic" everything was fine again (super fast as before). Specifically, I just went to the "Apple" menu icon (top left and hit "Location->Automatic". That's all.

Most sites, like www.bbc.co.uk, are very slow to load.
The upgrade to 9.0.1 is the only change I have made and would now like to go back to my previous version 6.0 but i am unable to locate the files to do this with to download
Can someone either make the older version of FF available or help me to get 9.0.1 up to speed.

    9 is like Windows Me.
    Epic Fail.
Adding nbrs to version is not a solution.
Better to go back to 3.6 and make that better rather than get in the version race with Chrome and IE.

  • Web page VERY slow to load

I created a website in Dreamweaver CS3, but the gallery page loads very slow.  I believe it's from the images, but they want to keep all those images and that size.  I used IrfanView to compress the images but to me, the page still loads slow.  Here is the web page http://www.kmmcement.com/gallery.html.  Is there anything else I can do to help the web page load faster?  Thank you!

I think you're missing the point.
You need to actually resize each fullsize image to make a smaller image which will be your thumbnail. Then compress.
    e.g.http://www.kmmcement.com/gallery/DSC00486.JPG is 3264px x 2448px.
    1. You need to resize that image in Irfanview to 240px x 216px then compress it.
    2. Then insert the 240px x 216px thumbnail in your page. (Not the fullsize image which takes far too long to load)
    3. Then link each thumbnail to its fullsize version (3264 px x 2448px which is still too big dimensionally for a webpage)
    4. Same steps are required for all the fullsize images.
