Plug-in Window Position

Hi,
I felt frustrated with the Plug-in Window..everytime i double click on the plug-in that i've inserted it'll auto prompt at the Upper-Left of my Display (Monitor Desktop Screen).
How c'ld i do the setting as everytime i double click on the Plug-in and it'll auto place at the Centre of my Screen?
Posible?

This touches on my problem with Mac windows in general. Does anyone know of a third party fix for Apple's inability to properly and consistently handle window size and position? For instance, compare Safari and Firefox - Firefox is the way windows should operate and Safari is the way they should not. Mail, on the other hand works correctly. I don't understand why Apple can't fix this glaring error - after all, they just about invented the concept.

How to decide new window position?

I work a lot in Logic Pro X, but I think this question belongs in the Maverick OSX department.
Every time I open a plug-in window in Logic it defaults to the position in the upper left corner of my cinema display, forcing me to drag the window in center, where I can view best.
How can I tell the system that I want's the window to open in the center of the display and not in the upper left corner?
I have the same problem with Preview!
I go nuts to be forced to do the same thing over and over again!!!!

You may disable the options for tab and new window in browser setting. For IE, Go to Tools-> Internet Options->General
Check the settings under tab section
In order to have the settings at global level, please check with network admin to disable the setting for all users.

Remembering windows positions when switching from/to dual screen display

Hello,
Most of the time, a second LCD screen is plugged in my Macbook and configured as the main display. When I arrange the windows, I keep iTunes or my mail application maximized on the macbook screen and use the bigger external screen for all other windows.
If I unplug the external display, all the windows are of course moved to the laptop display. When I plug again the external screen, all the windows are moved to the external display. But I would like the iTunes and mail application to remain on the laptop screen.
Is there any utility to remember the windows positions and arrange them automatically when I switch from/to single/dual-screen display?

Safari window positioning

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing safari window to be moved from original position when opening safari. It also does it sometimes after waking it up from sleep mode and opening safari. I trashed the prefrences and seem to be ok for a couiple of days but here this morning its doin it again. Any help would be apreciated. This is for the FP iMac

Sometimes window position problems relate to a Safari preference file problem.
Move to the desktop the com.apple.safari plist file found in your User Account (home)/Library/Preferences folder. Restart Safari. You'll need to reset your custom preferences, plus any custom settings in the Edit (spelling) or View (status bar, bookmarks bar, custom icons etc.) menus.
See if that improves the window remembering process.
Tabs and Windows:
Safari has its limitations when it comes to working with Tabs.
I have found the best way to work with tabs is using the 3rd party plug-in SAFT.
One of its many useful features is "always open browser window in tab". So your Video's would open in a new tab, rather than new window. Another useful feature is "warn before closing windows with tabs" - eliminates the inadvertent window close. Instead, a warning panel appears. And one of the most useful is remembering the tabs that were opened before you quit the program. Next time you open Safari, a panel appears asking if you want to reload the last sessions' tabs. Option includes deselecting one or more of them prior to the window opening.

Rest window position?

After plugging in an external projector, my resolution got messed up since the default multimonitor config is mirrored. Now I'm back at my native res, but my floating CPU window from Activity Monitor has disappeared and I can't find it anywhere. Is there a way to reset window positions for an app? I'm sure it's somewhere out of bounds and I'd like it back.

Try the largest resolution size to reveal the window. If that doesn't work, run this in the Terminal app:
*defaults read com.apple.ActivityMonitor "NSWindow Frame FloatingWindowFrame"
which will show you where it's located. Then, you could use TextEdit to change the values of the com.apple.ActivityMonitor.plist file to change the first two numbers to something like 1150 750 (window's upper left-hand corner) which should put the window near the screen's center. Experiment a bit by turning the window on and off with the new settings.

Window Position & Prefs "Gone"

Every time I start up or restart, any window position, size, view etc info is gone, and I get a view very different than what I had set. I have tried to delete the Finder plist, but it did not help. I did notice something extremely weird as well.
I noticed that the Finder plist is actually deleting itself about every 30 - 60 seconds when I open the ~user Library prefs, and cannot find anything that might be causing this. Repairing permissions, running utilities such as DiskWarrior etc have not helped. This condition actually exists identically on two Macs I am using. The only thing in common is that I ran an updater for Missing Sync for BlackBerry from Mark/Space Software, and took note of the condition being created on the second Mac immediately after doing this update.
I don't really want to do a full reinstall of the System, as I suspect I will still end up with this "condition" after reinstalling my working applications.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A bit of troubleshooting .....
On a full restart, any windows left open will retain their position, view, etc - but closed windows "forget" when reopened.
During the safe boots, files were sent to the Trash, which are as follows:

Nothing unusual (at least that I can see) in either of the other two locations.

My iMac keeps typing a minus sign. I switched my wireless keyboard for a plug in Windows keyboard, and it keeps typing this one character. I took the batteries out of the Mac keyboard, so that is not the problem. I am running Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Upgrading OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) to 10.8.3 (Mountain Lion) is not an update. It is a paid upgrade. Just as with 10.7 (Lion) you must purchase it from the App Store with yor Apple ID and install it after backing up your current computer state for safety.

External displays - browser window position when disconnected display

I'm using a laptop, connecting one or two external displays, - one using the HDMI port, second using an USB "dock station" (Toshiba standalone). Second screen normally to the right, third screen (usb) above the laptop screen.
Often when I have disconnected the USB external display, my Firefox browser window are still "on the third display" - position as if this display was still active.
Even if I quit Firefox and restarts ( or even restarts windows ) the same position window is retained. The only way to fix it (when the USB connected display is not available), is to change the window position of the second (HDMI) display to cover the area of the USB one, then move Firefox window to my main laptop display, and then reposition the second screen back to the normal.
Normally, I expect applications to automatically reposition the windows to the available display(s) under the conditions that an extra display is removed. However, this seems not to happen with Firefox. It's inconvinient, but possible to fix with the second screen available, but I'm lost when I am not able to connect an external display ...
Is there any solution to this? Is it possible to change (reset) window positions directly in RegEdit ??

Thank you very much for your help and valuable suggestion.
I've tried your suggestion but ran into some problems. The links I am trying to open in another window are actually PDF files that the viewer can download from my website.
Since I was having problems I decided to try something else. After publishing the website to my desktop I then opened the pages where the links are in Dreamweaver. The layout view is great and displayed the image just the way it appears on the browser's window. I first selected the "link button" to the file and then in the inspector windows (bottom of the page) I chose under target the "_blank" option. This tells the software that the linked page or file is to be opened in a new blank browser window. I then saved the page (re-saved it over the existing file) to incorporate the changes. After this I proceeded to navigate through the website and everything works great.

How to add document navigator control into a plug-in window?

I develop a filter plug-in for Photohsop CS2, but I wonder how to add navigator controll in the plug-in window. The navigator works int the same way like Photoshop navigator - moving cursor on the navigator makes the image scroll in the main previes. I want to have both, the navigator and a main preview window in the filter plug-in window. I saw it many times, however, I did not find example in Photoshop CS2 filter SDK.
If somebody could point me to a resource, that could get me to the right track, i would be glad.

It is good to know that plugins can not control the docunment view in Photoshop. However, my idea was to have preview in Photoshop plug-in window, and then to have small navigator that would scroll the preview. Exactly like on this Photoshop plug-in:

Please notice tha navigator on the right side of the window. Moving the red rectangle in it will scroll the middle preview window.

Link to multiple plug-in windows

Hi all
Is there a way to set the linking feature up so that more than one plug-in window updates its contents when you switch channels? Say I have a Noise Gate and a Compressor on each channel - when I switch channel I want the two open plug in windows to both update their view to show me what's happenng on tthe new channel for both plugins.

Unfortunately not possible. The Link mode for plugins only works per insert slot.
What I'd recommend is to open plugins for track 1 and save as a scerenset. Then close 'em and open the plugins for track 2 and save as a different screenset. It's a pretty quick way to do what you want.

Auto-remember window positions switching from laptop to external screens

Does anybody know of any utilities available that will automatically remember my app window positions when switching from laptop to external screens?

'Stay' looks like the best solution found so far but it is not automatic Any more ideas are welcome!

How to re-center window positions

I switched from 19" to a 27" screen. How can I tell LR to re-center it's window positions?
The windos (like the Export window) are still on the old place (centered for 19").

i can't understand whether the problem you're describing is in regards to a custom made window (pop up), a palette plug-in, or the ECW.
