Plug-ins are up to date, but Firefox plug-in checker shows them as out of date.

The plug-ins checker shows Flash to be out-of-date, but Adobe's plug-in checker shows that I am up-to-date. Also Firefox's about:plugins page shows that my Flash is the correct version. I have erased the pluginreg.dat file and it did not solve the problem. Any other suggestions or is this your plug-ins checker again?

Your installed Flash 11.3.300.257 version is the latest available for Mac, so that is OK.
There only has been released a Flash 113.300.262 update for the Windows platform.<br />
So it looks that the plugin check page doesn't take your platform into account.

The files are ON the iPod, but I can't get at them

I had my iPod plugged in overnight to charge, and Windows downloaded an update and automatically restarted itself. When I woke up, my iPod was telling me there were no files on it, and iTunes was telling me to reformat the iPod. This wouldn't be such a big deal, except that, like most people, half the stuff on my iPod isn't on my hard drive because my hard drive is too small.
I've tried the free software that will let you transfer files from your iPod into iTunes, but because the files aren't showing up on the iPod, they're not working with those programs either.
When I go into the actual disk drive through My Computer and read the BOOTEX text document, it says this:

Hi. The programs that transfer from the iPod to the PC generally rely on the folder structure being undamaged which sadly is not the case here. How many tracks were on your iPod? 2800 sounds a little shy if that's got to include all the artwork & other iPod control files. If you're lucky each recovered "lost chain" represents a single file. The trouble is working out what the fle type is. With a hex editor and a bit of detective work you could probably spot the diference between mp3 & aac files etc. If you give them the correct file extension they could then be imported into an iTunes libray set to consolidate tracks which would give them sensible filenames again. It might be possible, but it ain't going to be easy or quick....

Have you looked at the settings in iTunes. Is music syncing manual or automatic. More info please. I would try removing all restrictions as an initial test.

You can't play movies in iPhoto. But, you can in quicktime, which is installed along with the OS. Just double click on the .mov file and quicktme should start.

I was trying to play the Time Machine video tutorial on the Apple Website (I have an imac 10.6.6) and it won't play in Firefox, but it will in Safari and Chrome. Firefox Check Your Plugins found "unknown plug-ins". My other plug-ins are up to date. To keep Firefox running safely and smoothly can the "unknowns" be safely uninstalled? How do I know if I need them? Where do they come from?

I cannot say with certainty any plugins known or unknown installed on my computer are problematic. My other plugins are up to date. "Unresponsive Scripts" comes up quite often. No particular website, Grooveshark and Centurylink more than any others. Are the two (Plug-ins and Scripts) related?

option discovered in preferences. Really this and any feature that moves deletes or edits a users data should as far as possible be OFF BY DEFAULT. It shouldn't by default and without the users specific say do this dangerous and unnecessary thing without even letting the user know what it's doing!!! And then cause me a few hours (as i'm new to mac) searching for the option so as to switch it off. If i hadn't noticed the status cage declaring that it was copying files then i might never have twigged that this insane thing was occurring. And if i hadn't of noticed i would have been left maintaining the contents of the folder i copied the files to, the folder which as far as i was informed and so believed was also the location of the music files i was playing. How does Apple justify this 'genius' piece of software non-design? Surely it will hurt no one if this was off by default for new users - overall at least i dare say it would cause a lot less distress in the future for the unsuspecting public at large. I can't work with any of my plugins because the plugin check says the status of all my plugins is "unknown," and offers no action except the "?research" option. I can't uninstall them, either.
I am trying to make google hangouts work with firefox, and I think I need to be able to remove or update old google voice/video plugins to do that. But I can't get at them.

Does Google have any "uninstaller" or "updater" for its stuff?
If you don't mind deleting those plugin files by hand, you can get the locations from a different page. Type or paste '''about:plugins''' in the address bar and press Enter. For each plugin file, the physical location should be listed. Note that some folders may be hidden and in order to reach those, you may want to copy as much as possible of the path (not including the final file name) and paste that into Finder to drill down into the hidden folders.

4 of the songs on a recently purchased album do not appear on my computer. I bought the album on my phone, and all of the songs are accounted for there, but on my computer it shows as an incomplete album and ITunes wants me to buy the missing songs?

I recently purchased Slipknot's ".5: The Gray Chapter" on my phone via an ITunes gift card worth $15 dollars. The album did have some trouble downloading because of a bad signal, and a good number of songs "could not be downloaded at this time". To download the missing songs, I had to go into ITunes store>more>purchased>music>all songs and click download on the few that didn't. This fixed that problem, and now the entire album is on my phone, but when the album transferred over to my computer, 4 of the songs still did not appear. Not only that, it says that they have not been purchased. The ITunes card I used only has a dollor left on it, so I know it registered the purchase. The 10th, 14th, 15th, and 16th tracks still have $1.29 next to them, and ITunes is showing the album as an incomplete.

We are having this same issue. We have over 200 songs that are now missing and only our most recent ones show up in our ITunes library. Fortunately we have one phone that still has all of our music still in tact. This phone is no longer one I will be using as I upgraded to the Iphone 6, and only the most recent purchased songs remain. The rest are no where to be found and the iTunes store shows that I would need to re-purchase. Not sure what to do as when I tried to sync my last phone, all the songs were gone.

That's because the iPhone is NOT a backup device. You're going to have to use 3rd party software to try and extract them from the phone. Unfortunately, the photos stored on the phone in anything other than the camera roll are NOT at the original resolution. Resolution is reduced for photos synced TO the iPhone to optimize them for the display.

Firefox 21 is not showing theme preview images

In Firefox 21 for Mac OS, there is no longer any preview image, which is usually a little screenshot of the left end of the toolbar, shown for a theme when you click the "More" link to get more information about the theme. The only image there now is the theme icon. Where did that preview go and why is it gone? The preview images are still in the .jar files in all the themes I have, so they are still available.

Try to delete the addons.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

It is also possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

I keep getting error messages stating that my Adobe Flash is out of date and vulnerable. I go to the Add-ons Manager, click "update" and it takes me to the plug-in page which shows it's up to date!! Same with Java DT and Shockwave Flash. How can I update if I have the latest versions already!?! I am inclined to just allow the plug-ins to work but don't want my pc to become vulnerable. hello Danagriz, unfortunately the plugin check page lags behind. adobe has released a critical patch for a vulnerability in its flash plugin, which is reportedly already exploited in the wild. therefore firefox will block insecure versions from running by default on websites for your protection.

in order to update java, go to java.com (or if you don't need the plugin you can also uninstall it though the windows control panel)

Pandora is causing Firefox 21 to crash. All plug-ins are up to date.

When I use Pandora, while using Firefox 21, the browser crashes. I have all of my plug-ins up to date. Firefox has sent crash reports.

Pandora may work differently in Firefox 21, because sites now can use the built-in HTML5 audio player to decode MPEG media. Previously Firefox did not support that, so the stream was played using the Flash player plugin.
