Plug-ins from CS4 to CS5?

Best way to have the plug-ins transferred to CS5 from CS4?

You can actually create a second copy of the application icon to run in 32-bit mode.  Just right-click on the application icon, select Copy, then right-click inside the CS5 folder and select Paste.  Rename it to "Photoshop CS5 32" or whatever you like, and then hit Cmd-i and check the "Open in 32-bit mode" box.  The new application will complain that it's been moved when you launch it - just click "Do Not Update" and it will open in 32-bit mode (you can see the x32 in the splash screen), and all of your old plugins will be available if you copied them over.
I wanted to do this so that, when I don't need 3rd-party plugins (I don't use that many), I can launch in 64-bit mode without having to constantly switch back and forth.  It's particularly handy for launching from Lightroom - if I want to do a lens correction that's not in LR yet (and not in PS CS5 until the Camera Raw 6.1 update hits, but that's another story) I can do an "Edit in" that doesn't load plugins and works in 64-bit mode, but when I want to use Viveza, Noiseware, or the Topaz plugins, I can set up a separate "Edit in" pref to launch the 32-bit version.

  • Moving plug-ins from Elements to CS5

    Hello,
    I just installed CS5 and have been using Elements 8, i had purchased the TopazLabs plug in package a few weeks ago and now i want them to work in my Photoshop CS5.  Can someone please tell me the steps to take to move or copy them into CS5, i am not 100% sure where they go.  I did see the plug in folder in CS5 in my "program file (x86) >Adobe>Adobe Photoshop CS5>Plug-Ins.  Is that the right path? Also, do i just dump the files in one by one or do they go into a specific folder once i am in the plig in folder itself.  I have 12 differen  folders within the Plug in file/folder.  I need some reassurance to make sure i am doing it correctly.  I dont want to mess anything up with CS5.  Thank you for any help you can provide.

    Thank you very,very much for helping me out, i didnt even think about the fact that Elements plug ins may not even work with Photoshop jCS5 so thanks for setting me straight on that.  I really want those plug ins but ever since i installed CS5 i cant get my Photoshop Elements 8 program open, it opens and a split second later it shuts down  and have no idea why.  I was using Elememts that day that i installed CS5 so i know it worked prior to the install of cs5.  I am using windows 7 64bit.  I put a phone call into Adobe who said they would call me back in 8 min and that was at least 2 hrs ago.  I am not to computer literate so i dont dare start messing with files until i get instructions from someone who does know what there doing.
    Also, in response to the question about how i got the Topaz plug ins into Elements, well, i installed like normal and then had to copy the file into the Elements folder, it worked perfectly, that was Topaz instructed people to do if they didnt show up when you ran the auto installer.  I will get ahold of topaz and see if there is anything I can do about "exchanging' my elements serial number for a CS serial number, its worth a try anyway becasue i just bought them and I love what they do.
    thanks again to all of you who helped me out on this issue.

  • Switch from cs4 to cs5

    can someone please remind me how to move my actions and plug ins from cs4 to cs5?

    Copy them from the folders
    /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets/Actions
    and
    ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets/Actions
    into the analogous CS5-folders.
    (~ meaning your user account)
    Edit: Previously unsaved CS4-Actions you would need to save first (or save them directly into the CS5-folders).

  • How to save down from InDesign Creative Cloud version to CS5? Have exported as .idml file but still get messages that plug-ins are missing although CS5 confirms it is fully updated.

    How to save down from InDesign Creative Cloud version to CS5? Have exported as .idml file but still get messages that plug-ins are missing although CS5 confirms it is fully updated.

    Yes. Thanks. I misled myself based on another post. Successfully did this by selecting "File," "Save a copy ..." then choosing "for CS4 or later (IDML)"
    It required some patience and several tries, but I think that was due to hardware (memory) being overloaded by CC Cloud version or something. It was a 50 MB, 500-page file and took 17 minutes to convert/save,
    Re-capping: from CCloud to CS5, don't use "Export" (to IDML); use "Save as" or "Save a copy" and select "for CS4 or later (IDML)".
    Advice much appreciated.

  • How to open Indd file when it shows: missing plug ins in CS4 - Help.

    How can I open this Indd file in my CS4 version? It is stating that I am misisng plug ins then it won't open the file. I'm guessing its probably a CS5 version file... Not sure. How do you tell? Anyway, I can I open this thing?
    Worst case - How do I upgrade to CS5? Is possible? I can't find anything to upgrade to from CS4. They make it so hard to find.
    Thanks for any insight or help!!
    Brian

    You can identify the version using the script here: Adobe Forums: [Ann] Identify Your InDesign File
    If it is from a later version that CS4, it will need to be exported to .idml for something ath can be opened in CS4, but it likely will not look the same.
    As far as I know there are no upgrade from CS4 to CS5 or CS5.5  packages avialble through normal resellers, and I'm not certain that CS4 is even eligible for upgrade discount princing for CS6 any longer.

  • Easiest way to transfer 3rd party plugins from CS4 to CS5?

    CS5 is arriving tomorrow and I'd be grateful for a steer on the least painful way to move third party plugins from CS4 to CS5.  I am running W7 64bit.  Can I just copy the plugin folders at Program Files/Adobe/PhotopshopCS4 etc...Plugins and Program Files (86)/Adobe/PhotoshopCS4 etc. and replace the equivalent folders in CS5 with them?
    Thanks.

    Photoshop CS5 on Mac OS was reworked on a fundamental level to be able  to run as a 64-application under the 64-bit versions of Mac OS. Because  of this, old and 32-bit plug-ins won't run, can return errors, or cause  crashes when you use them in either the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of  Photoshop. See below for instructions on how to open Photoshop CS5 in 64-bit and 32-bit  modes.
    How to run Photoshop CS5 in 32-bit and 64-bit modes
    To  run Photoshop CS5 on Mac OS as a 32-bit application:
    Select the Adobe Photoshop CS5  application file, installed by default in the Applications/Adobe  Photoshop CS5 folder.
    Choose File > Get Info, and select Open in 32 Bit Mode.
    Deselect this option to run Photoshop CS5 in 64-bit mode.
    To run Photoshop CS5 in Windows as a 32-bit application:
    Close Photoshop CS5.
    Navigate to the Program Files (x86) > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop  CS5 folder..
    Double-click the Adobe Photoshop CS5.exe file.
    To run Photoshop CS5 in Windows as a 64-bit application (if your  version of Windows and your hardware supports 64-bit):
    Close Photoshop CS5.
    Navigate to the Program Files > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop CS5  folder..
    Double-click the Adobe Photoshop CS5.exe file.

    Is following message due to 'Java' setting left unchecked?
    Mac OSX supportsUser Authentication Mechanism (UAM) plug - ins from other manufacturers to control access to servers.To use a UAM, copy the plug - in to: Library/ Filesystems/ AppleShare/ Authenti

    Man that is an ancient message.
    The last time I saw that was using Mac clients connected to a Microsoft (Windows) Server running 'Services for Macintosh' which included the ability to act as an AppleShare compatible file server. Because Microsoft have a different security system for defining accounts which includes the 'domain' as well as username, the standard Mac AFP client did not know how to send that information.
    Therefore Apple made it possible to installed a plugin in the form of a UAM or User Authentication Mechanism which added the ability to send this information to login to the fileserver.
    See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/101747
    However Microsoft have long discontinued 'Services for Macintosh' and now the only way for a Mac to connect to a standard Windows Server is via SMB not AFP. I don't believe this plugin is available to download anymore.

    I am porting programes from CS4 to CS5, and meet a problem.
    In my program I need delete some page from a indesign document and then save it back.
    I open the document use the code below
    InterfacePtr<IK2ServiceRegistry>    serviceRegistry(Porting::GetPointerToSession(), UseDefaultIID());
            ASSERT(serviceRegistry);
            if (!serviceRegistry)

            ASSERT(openManagerService);

    and then delete some page
    for( int i = 0; i < fnPageCountOfCopy; ++i )
                UID idPage = fvPageUID[i];
                if ( fPageIDList.DoesNotContain(idPage) )
                    UIDRef refPageToDelete( fTemplateCopyUIDRef.GetDataBase(), idPage );

                        deleteCmd->SetItemList( tempList );
                        ErrorCode status = CmdHelper::ProcessCommand( deleteCmd );
    then save it back

                &fTemplateCopyFile,
                K2::kSuppressUI,
                kFalse,
                kInDesignFileTypeInfoID);
    but save failed. The code works on CS4, but does not work on CS5.
    Does anybody know why? Any suggestion is appreciated.

    I found that delete operation will affect save operation, but I don't know why and how to solve it.

  • How to install third party plug-ins from photoshop elements 11 to new 13 in my PC win7?

    how to install third party plug-ins from photoshop elements 11 to new 13 in my PC win7?
    Thank you.

    Hi ,
    Your windows is 32 bit or 64 bit .
    If win 7 32 bit
    Just copy the plugin from PSE 11 and paste it to PSE 13 plug-in folder.
    If win 7 64
    PSE 11 and PSE 13 are installed as a 32 and 64 bit respectively , so you need to install plug-in again.
    Thanks,

  • How can I upgrade from CS4 to CS5/CS6?

    Hi, I really need to upgrade my Adobe suite from CS4 to CS5 or higher. From reading in this forum you are unable to do it, but those posts were from 2012. Wondering if this is still current and if anyone can help me? Do I need to buy the entire suite again from scratch? Surely not?
    I have a student version by the way.
    Thanks!

    You cannot upgrade from Photoshop CS4.  Those days are long past.
    While you can buy a full license for (the now outdated) Photoshop CS6, your most cost effective alternative may be to consider the Creative Cloud "Photographer's Bundle" subscription...

  • Upgrade from CS4 to CS5--what functions in CS4 do I lose?

    By grading from CS5 to CS4, what functions will I lose in CS4? I see that the "upgrade" button is greyed out in CS4. Anything else?

    Just to be clear (and I don't think I was originally)...the upgrade is from CS4 to CS5. I see that CS4 is still available and operating. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't become "dead" after upgrading to CS5.
    Thanks for all the information and responses.
