Plugging a USB key INTO an N Series

Okay, this might be a stupid question, but why can't we plug a USB key INTO an N series phone. It has a USB port (okay, maybe the wrong size, but a cable/converter will sort that out).
I know there is a power issue to provide enough power to read the key, but is it that much? Is there anything that allows you to plug a key into an S60 phone and use it as a mounted drive? What better way of travelling with an extra stash of music and films.
Any comments or advice is welcome.
Mark

Hello
I don't think we need the SDCARDS also now.
Simply, install winamp (latest), install winamp remote, assign the music and movies folder separately.
Log in to your phone, browser, to winamp orb or www.orb.com (type your winamp remote username and pass. that's it.
You see a complete list of all your music and movies on your home computer, or where your winamp remote is active. Ask your friends to join in on their own ID;s and make them as friends, your list will grow huge.
I have used this, I have played 1080p HD movies on my N82, with super sharpness. Simply use the provided Video out cable anywhere, and play it on a bigger screen, or on your mobile screen.
Same for music, you have whole lot of music folders in your home computer now on your mobile.
do we need cards ???
for movies you need 3G or live connection/edge or WiFi, point anywhere you are.
Thank you

  • Macbook Pro Hangs 3 secs whe I plug-in USB keys on mountain Lion

Hello guys, I installed Mountain Lion ten days ago.
There is just this small issue: when I insert any usb device  the screen and mouse pointer freeze for 3 seconds ish. Then averithing gets normal.
I repaired permissions, clean pram, used cccleaner to get the system lighter.
Do you have any advice about it?

I have this same problem as well. I'm using a 2009 13in Macbook Pro running OSX 10.8.2
When I plug my iphone 5 usb cable into my macbook the trackpad stops working for about 3 seconds like you said. I'm always spinning my finger around the trackpad trying to regain operation... the problem does not occur when I'm using the trackpad while plugging in the usb cable simultaneously, which is strange. This happens without fault, every single time I plug in the usb cable, within a second the trackpad becomes unresponsive...this should not be normal... I don't believe this happen before 10.8.2
This does not happen on my girlfriends 2012 13in Macbook Pro running 10.8.2 as well.

  • Can i plug an usb drive into a iMac and access it with a Macbook pro?

I have an iMac that is less than 3 months old and my wife now has a two week old Macbook Pro.
    IMac:
    21.5" screen
    3.1 quad core i7
    16 GB Ram
    1 TB Fusion drive
    Macbook Pro:
    13" screen
    3.0 dual core i7
    8 GB ram
    512 GB Flash storage
    Both have Mountain Lion.
    Both are running iOS 6.1.2
I would like to attach an external USB hard drive to the iMac and allow the Macbook Pro to be able to have full access to just the external USB hard drive.  Either it can't be done or I am just not getting the Sharing settings set correctly.  I played around with sharing last night on both machines.  When I would plug in a FAT 32 thumb drive into either machine and find it, I would add it to he shared folder but it would only allow me and "Everyone" to have access.  I could not change "Everyone" to "No Access" because "Everyone" was greyed out or add my wife.  I can access the Macbook Pro as Mark with the iMac but I can only access the iMac from the Macbook Pro as a "Guest".
I am using a Netgear WNR3500L router.  I currently have the USB hard drive connected to the router via the Readyshare USB port but it is formatted as NTFS for Windows shared files.  This router does not recognize HFS+ formatted hard drives in the USB port.   When I move it to the iMac, I will back it up and then reformat it as HFS+.  Since the router is about a year old and working fine, I would buy an Airport Extreme or Time Capsule if that is my only choice.
I don't normally turn off the iMac.
I would not want to allow access to any other device.
Since I am very new at Mac's, I would appreciate any help that any of you can offer me.

    Topher Kessler,
    Thanks for commenting to me.
My thumb drive is formatted as Fat 32 so your first paragraph explains what I am seeing.
You are correct that my existing router does not support HFS+.  It is visible from my MAC and some file are read only.
The drive that I will be wanting to attach to the iMac would be formatted as HFS+ so it would not be accessible from my router.
So, if I setup sharing (If it is possible) and thern plugged in a USB 3.0 hard drive into my iMac, would it be accessible to my Macbook Pro?  If it would not be, it looks like an Airport Extreme or a Time Capsule are my only options?
I see that a Netgear 4500 is Time Machine compatible.  Any idea what that means?  When I read pages 80 through 82, it appears to me that you format your drive to HFS+ and then eventually plug it into the router usb.

  • I plugged a usb controller into my mac and the vibrate function is not stopping. Do macs not support plug and play?

I'm still very new to forums so please excuse anything that may have been previously asked. I purchased a USB controller for my mac to play a couple games and the vibrate function on the controller will not stop. I was wondering if there is a way to access the controller setting or if os x supports plug and play controllers? Any help is greatly apprectiated.

  • Audio not switching to Display when I plug in USB

Normally, all audio automatically switches to the LED display speakers when I plug the USB connector into my MBP. It seems, after I manually switched the audio to my MBP once, this automatic switch doesn't happen anymore (I can still manually switch), and I can't find a way to reset it. Anyone experiencing this or know the answer?

I found a solution. If you delete the two preference files located in the folder noted below and restart, my macbook/ACD reverts to auto switching sound output the way I expect it to work. One problem, I can not change ANYTHING related to system sounds behavior in the sound preference pane or the lack of auto switching returns. I have not exhaustively tested which options are linked, but all I've tried make the problem return. However, I am able change the system volume using keyboard keys or the menu bar slider without the problem returning.

  • Mountain Lion Bootable USB Key

I have an OS X Lion USB Key purchased from Apple for $69. I use it for diagnostic related tasks for any of my many Macs.
While I understand that there are 'solutions' out there that aren't sanctioned by Apple which will allow you to create your own USB key or boot DVDs, I want to know what Apple's plan is in regards to offering the same product mentioned above for Mountain Lion. Furthermore, will there be any sort of trade in program or upgrade offering to those who have the Lion USB Key?
When searching the Apple Online Store, I noticed that not only is there no key for Mountain Lion, there's also no more key for Lion.

Ideally that would be nice if Apple would give keys to those who paid on the App Store; but the way they did it with Lion was they sold it for $69 and the big difference was that it didn't prompt you for an Apple ID login when installing OS X from the USB key whereas it does from the installer downloaded from the Mac App Store.
While I prefer an Apple genuine key, I recommend trying this app to create your own. It didn't work for me either, but I think it was because I needed to plug the USB Key directly into my iMac vs. into my USB extension bay (which allows me to use many USB devices at once). Once I tried it with the key directly in my Mac, it worked like a charm. You need to download Mountain Lion first from the Mac App store as it uses that installer to build the key.

  • Macbook Pro won't boot into safe mode or via bootable USB key

    Hi,
Am running OSX Lion latest version on my Macbook Pro 4,1 and can't get the thing to boot from any source.  Always get's stuck at the grey screen with apple logo.  Have tried all the following...
    - Straight Boot (power on)
    - Boot via Recovery HD (hold option on bootup then select)
    - Boot via Safe Mode (Holding Shift on bootup)
    - Boot via Safe Mode Verbose (Shift, Command, V)
    - Boot via bootable Lion USB Key (Hold option, and choose the USB drive - not the same USB key works on my other macbook pro)
On every one (except verbose) it just get's stuck on the grey screen with spinning timer thingie.
I have done PVRAM reset, SMC reset and have reseated the RAM and all to no avail.  I'm pretty sure the problem was caused by removing battery at wrong time (device not responding after sleep mode started and I plugged in power - should have been more patient!)
I have a Time Machine backup but it's a bit older than I thought and very much want to get my newer photos off it before rebuilding - not that Time Machine would work in current state anyway.
So what are my remaining options?  Will I have to open it up and remove the HD as next step or is there anything else left to try?  Can I remove the HD and connect it via a USB caddy to my existing Mac to recover info (hardrive spins and sounds ok to me)?
    Any advice appreciated...

    ds store wrote:
Yes, once the data is off you can use Disk Utility to Erase the entire drive (Lion + Recovery) with the Zero option (one selection below 7x) then use the Lion USB to install it fresh and stick it back into the machine.
Thanks for the info - I removed the HD and data is all ok on there so very happy about that.  Before I wipe the data (all backed up now) I thought I would try booting the mac without any harddrive installed - using a OSX Lion bootable USB.  However, still can't get past the grey apple screen and circle icon whirling away.   I know the USB works ok, as tried it in my 2011 Macbook Pro and it boots absolutely fine.
I am happy to wipe the HD now and start again, but seeing as the DVD Drive is broken I'll probably need a USB drive boot to install OSX onto the wiped HD anyway.  I'm a bit lost as to what to try now.
