Plugging in ipod help!!!

so whenever i try to update my ipod and plug it in the computer freezes and it doesnt even show that my ipod is plugged in. it just freezes up until i unplug it. does anyone know how i can fix this??? it wont let me even restore anything.

The dock connector (the bit that connects to the Nano) is held in place by two little teeth that retract when you press the sides of the connector. If you look closely at the connector you'll see that the sides move in when you press them. When you are removing the connector just make sure to press hard to free the teeth up before you start pulling.

That's what backups are for. Use Time Machine. It's free and external drives are cheap. To recover your iPhone's content requires the use of third party utilities. Success is not guaranteed. Read:

I just got an ipod touch and downloaded itunes. when i plug my ipod in and open itunes it wont read my ipod. i looked up in 'help' and it says to go to devices and click add. but there is no 'device' button anywhere? can anyone help me please?

ITunes freezes when I plug my iPod in. Please HELP

I have a 4G 8GB iPod touch, and it hasn't been synced into iTunes for about 2 months now because iTunes always freezes when I plug my iPOd into it.(I have iTunes 10.1 or which ever one is the latest version and it just freezes). Can anyone help or has the same problem?

I managed to get it to work this way on Windows 7 SP1 X64
Itunes 10.2
Ipod 2g
Open Itunes
Open Task manager
Click on process tab
Connect Ipod 2g
Swap back to applications tab and check for not responding for Itunes
If Itunes goes not responding
Disconnect and reconnect Ipod, while viewing process tab
It may take a few times

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Before you reinstall the Apple software, also remove iCloud vi Control Panel Remove programs. The reinstall the Apple programs
New cable and different USB port?
Runs this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Is the iPod still singed into the account isn Settings>iTunes and App Stores and SettingsZ>iCloudl? If it is then I would not be concerned.

For the other "problem", go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says Prevent iPod....automatically syncing.

The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.

When i plug my ipod in itunes loads etc then it states syncing, but it gets to stage 2 which is back up and wont get past that, ive left it on over night, reinstalled, checked my firewall etc and phones up itunes support with no success, Can any one help me? I have windows 7 with itunes 10.5 and ipod touch 4th generation with iso5 installed.
I have been trying to resolbe the problem for over 2 weeks now and have had my ipod replaced twice during this time.

The latest version of iTunes may hide the sidebar. To show the sidebar, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
With the sidebar visible, does the iPod appear in the sidebar, under DEVICES?

When i plug my iPod Nano 2nd Generation in to anything-AC adaptor or computer- it starts charging, then all of a sudden stops charging after about two seconds. When I plug it in to my computer, iTunes doesn't pop up like is used to. This started after i tried to use my sister's cable on it (It fit, but now it doesn't work with either). To eject iPod:
Select your iPod in the iTunes Source list.
Click the eject icon next to the iPod in the Source list or choose Eject iPod from the Controls menu.
