Plugging in multiple gaming consuls

I just bought my first big flat panel TV, yeah I know surprising huh a little behind the curve. However I do have 2 gaming systems a Wii and a Xbox 360 and the big CRT I had before I could plug both in at the same time! The Toshiba I just bought has only one input for audio and video! Am I missing something?

Go to Solution.

Well, I slightly mispoke, the Wii apparently doesn't have HDMI(pretty silly in my opinion, but that's another story) and the Xbox 360 does have an HDMI port.
Below should be what the back of your TV looks like. You'll need an HDMI from the XBox to the HDMI port, and then you'll need one of "THESE" to connect your Wii to the component inputs(the red/green/blue/white/red) inputs.
If you like my post, or solution to your issue/question, go ahead and click on the little star by my name and/or accept the post as the Solution. It makes me happy.
I'm NOT an employee of Best Buy, or Geek Squad, though I did work as an Agent for a year 5 years ago. None of my posts are to be taken as the official stance that Best Buy will take on your situation. My advice is just that, advice.
Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.

  • IP Address Error Message with Multiple Gaming Systems

Hi, I'm new to the forum, and I'm looking for some help with my router and hooking up multiple gaming consoles
I recently purchased an XBOX 360 Elite around the same time I purchased a new Router (Linksys Wireless G with SpeedBooster).
I have an XBOX 360, PS3, and a Nintendo Wii all hooked up wireless... and anytime I go from one system to the next, I get an IP Conflict error (claiming that two devices are using the same IP Address)
    Here's a couple of things...
    1. My XBOX 360 and PS3 DO NOT sign in Automatically... even though they are setup to
    2. When I return to my laptop after playing the PS3, there is a little Yellow Triangle with an "!" in the middle of it in the task bar, saying that there is an IP address conflict and that another machine is trying to share it, or something (didn't get exactly what it said... but that is close to it)
Now, I don't have a problem going online ever... with any of the sytems, but I imagine my Wii is not always connected if the other systems are not auto logging in either...  Also, my roommates are unable to go on the computer if someone is playing video games.
Is there anything I can do to fix this???
I have heard somewhere about assigning Individual IP Addresses to each system?  Is this something I can/should do?
Thanks for the help in advance!

As you are getting IP address conflict error on your system…..try rebooting all computers and gaming console …..
You can also assign static Ip to X-BOX  360…..PS3 …..& Nintendo as it will release that error from our network

  • Experiencing instability when plugged into multiple displays

I upgraded to Yosemite when it was released. My desk has two apple 27" monitors connected to my Macbook Pro Retina. I noticed immediately that there was stability issues when I plugged my mac into a projector (over the HDMI port). Generally the issue has been of the UI hanging (beach ball) - the top menu and the doc not responding to mouse input.
But recently the system has been actually crashing when I plug into the monitors at my desk.
Hopefully these things are fixed soon.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
    Feedback
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

  • How to create plug and play design pattern on a environment

    Hi All,
Help me to get a best design for my problem statement.
Problem Statement: I have to create a platform where I should be able to plug and play different components. explaining better with example
    Example:
    1. I have to create a platform for school
    2. In this school platform we have to plug in multiple components like "Student", "Teacher", "Subjects", "ClassPeriods" etc.,
    3. These components should be easily plug/unplug and play
    4. Like, the component "ClassPeriods" want to purchase from Vendor 1 and plug it to "School" platform it should work.
    5. Incase if we want to unplug the "ClassPeriod" component provided bfy Vendor 1 from "School" platform and want to plug the "ClassPeriod" from Vendor 2. then the Design should support without any extra effort.
Suggest me the best design pattern for the problem
This design pattern is for ASP.Net

  • Is one out bound plug pointing to many inbound plugs ?

    Hai Experts,
i hav the doubt one outbound plug is pointing to many inbound plugs  in different view is it possible.
                             in web dynpro ABAP.
                              plz help.

    Hi,
Yes it is possible to have one outbound plug for multiple inbound plug
depends on the condition you mention.
    For example
If you enter range between 10 to 20 you may fire VIEW1 or
if you enter range between 20 to 100 you may fire VIEW2.
When creating navigation link you can set one outbound plug to multiple inbound plugs.

  • Trouble with MS3 recognizing multiple midi devices.

When I plug in multiple m-audio keystations, it is only recognized as one device. Both devices work, but not independently of one another. Therefore I cannot assign them to different samples/sounds. In the past each would show up as a separate device in the midi port drop down menu, but it is no longer showing two separate devices. How do I have MS3 recognize that the key stations are different?

Try opening Audio/MIDI setup and renaming one of them.

  • Advice on heat and multiple iBooks.

    Hi everyone,
Have a question that I need a bit of expert advice with. We have 20 G4 ibooks that we use in our little school, and we want to stack them on a trolley/tray to make it easier to move around.
My question relates to heat while on charge. If I stack say 5 of the one atop the other and place them all on charge over night or over the weekend, will that damage them in any way?
    Thanks for the help,
    James

    Hi James
I don't see where that would be a problem. Certainly, having 20 iBooks plugged into multiple sockets requires adequate protection in the circuitry, especially to guard against spikes and surges. The heat factor ought not to be an issue, although I suggest not leaving the trolley in an overheated area, or one lacking ventilation.

  • Keyboard? Multiple Midi Inputs? CAD U1 Mic?

Hello (and, HangTime, if you're there, will really appreciate your answer)
    Three questions:
    1. MBPro with Yamaha E403keyboard -- GB11 records notes played with piano function but does not record background drumbeat from keyboard. Suggestions to get the background also? (Have already installed latest midi driver from Yamaha.)
    2. If I acquire an external Mic can GB accept input from it at the same time as the keyboard? (Have multiple USB inputs available on MBPro.)
    3. Any feedback on the CAD U1 Mic? Amazon has it at attractive price for a total novice.
    Thanks.

i don't think i've seen anyone post about using that, but it'll probably work good enough if you're not looking for pro quality.
and to the question in your subjectline:

you can plug in multiple MIDI devices, but you can only record to a single track as noted in the link above.

  • Multiple Video Cards and FCP

I'm looking at getting a mac pro, and I'm wondering if there is any point to getting multiple video cards (2x NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512MB).
I've been editing in FCP on a G5 for years now, and only had one video card.
Does the current version of FCP7 utilize them? Or does any of the other Studio software utilize them?
And if FCP7 does take advantage of multiple cards, where am I going to notice the difference if I add multiple cards... rendering? exporting? playback?
    Any advice would be great!

We see this topic in various forms about weekly.
FCP does not use multiple cards. In fact, FCP really doesn't take advantage of a single card's GPU. But Motion does, which means if you have .motn files in your FCP project, you may see some kind of boost.
I don't know anything about the 120 but, personally, I will never buy another nvidia card. The minimum for Motion would be the Radeon 4870.
FCPv5 and v6 had issues with some FxPlug filters supplied with Motion if you had multiple monitors plugged into multiple cards but not of you had multiple monitors plugged into a single card. This got fixed in FCP7.

  • My macbook pro's sound is not working properly. It flashes from normal to grey in the menu bar up top, and when greyed out I cannot do anything with it, and it sits at max.

In system preferences > sound > output, it will switch from normal internal speakers > built-in, to headphones > built-in, to digital out > built-in, to headphones > headphone port, to digital out > headphone port- it's nuts! This is all without having anything actually plugged into the headphone jack. While it is greyed out (which happens randomly and on any of the settings), there is no sound whatsoever and it says, "The selected device has no output controls.". Also coinciding with this, my computer has begun to suddenly run extremely slow and lags a lot. Is there a way to fix this? I already tried updating my computer, and restarting it, and it didn't help. I'm wondering if maybe the headphone jack somehow was shorted while I had some speakers plugged in for gaming...? Or is this something I need to send my computer in to be repaired for?
It was custom-ordered a few years ago, and unfortunately the warranty has expired. :/ Perfect timing.

I have this same issue and have been struggling with it for a while.  I really just need to get it into Apple Store to be fixed most likely - but avoiding the hassle and time needed to do so.
    Things I've come across:
Something inside of the headphone jack is not right, such that it randomly thinks headphones or some other type of optical audio device are plugged in.  you will see a red light inside the jack occasionally when it happens.
You might try doing PRAM and/or SMC reset ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 )

  • Multitrack Recording - Which Interface?

    Hi Folks,
I'm at the very beginning of set up and I'm unable to get to grips with understanding how to plug in multiple instruments into an interface that, once connected to a Mac, will allow me to record on separate tracks.
I've searched many products but I can't seem to find one that allows what I want/need. I understand a USB will only offer two channels so that particular option is out (Line 6 TonePort UX8 I thought was the answer but it's only USB) and therefore came to the conclusion it has to be firewire, and if this is the case then i need to find a list of products I could choose from.
The interface I'd like to work with should have individual volume controls on the front and at least four XLR inputs (and perhaps portable, even though a rack-mount may only be the real choice).
Here are some products that don't suit (I think):
Apogee Ensemble doesn't offer volume controls on the front of the interface
Apogee Duets is only two tracks
Line 6 TonePort UX8 I thought was the answer but it's only USB (it looked perfect although I don't need their built-in tones either even though it's great for latency because I wish to control everything in Logic)
    Does this suit me?:
Focusrite Saphire Pro seems to fit the bill... so am I on the right tracks choosing such a product or are there many more I am unaware of.
Is there a one page list of everyone's needs concerning this problem? A spreadsheet perhaps (or am I really asking too much?). A spreadsheet of products would be a brilliant idea...
Am I missing something very basic and making it too confusing for myself or is this a standard beginner's nightmare?
Many thanks for everyone's help in advance.

Many thanks to all who have replied with such great input!
Do you think a PCI card would be even better? I already have a small Behringer Mixer (see above for the link). So if, for example, I were to record eight simultaneous microphones would they continue to be individually assigned a separate track in Logic?
Do some cards offer more option than others?
Does it matter what options they are as long as the two outputs from the mixer are connected (or do I need eight outputs from the mixer to the PCI card at this point?)
The PCI card would be for either:
    1. G5 2.5 Quad
    2. Mac Pro
    3. MacBook Pro
I'm confused as to the choices between PCI and Firewire interfaces, but it's a good thing... lol
    Sorry for the basic questions!

  • Nokia 603 cannot turn on , problem with ON button

Hi, I'd appreciate if anyone could help me
My nokia603 ON button works fine when the phone is already on, meaning i can press it to switch the phone off, but when the phone is off, and try to turn it on again by pressing the on button, it doesnt respond. any reason for that?
currently my phone is off, so i m having a lot of problem turning it on. any ideas on how to turn it on? i've tried connecting it to the charger and computer but it just doesnt respond
also as a last resort, is there any way i can transfer data from my dead phone to my computer without turning on the phone?
I really appreciate any help for my questions, thanks a lot for reading
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hello Hans, thank you for your advice
I managed to get my phone started after hours of pressing the on button and hoping for a response. Now it's already turned on and I plan not to turn it off again or else I will have to go thru the same process of trying to get it back up. It works fine when it is already on
I think unplugging and plugging in multiple times serves the same function as pressing the on button many times. I've tried that too, but it just happened that I got lucky while pressing the on button instead of while plugging it in
Yes my phone definitely has hit the ground a few times, but definitely not from a dangerous height. Maybe 2 feet off the ground? And yes also liquid damage but also a bit, like when I use it during a drizzle?
I've brought it to get checked , its not a battery problem they said. but they cannot do anything because its an old model.
Thank you for your helpful ideas. I guess the best way is to just buy a new phone and move on

  • WRT1900AC & Xbox 360 Wireless Setup Help

    Hello,
I recently just picked up the WRT1900AC and I have 2 Xbox 360's in the house, both of them are having trouble connecting to XBOX Live. I have opened up the following ports on the single port forwarding tab in the routers security settings.
    Port 88 (UDP)
    Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
    Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
    Port 80 (TCP)
    Port 500 (UDP)
    Port 3544 (UDP)
    Port 4500 (UDP)
So when i do this, it seems to work, but i lose all wirless connectivity on my computer (which is also connected wirelessly). Removing port 53, seems to resolve the issue, but any game updates on the xbox 360 are slow. I'am currently using firmware current Version 1.1.8.164461.
Can someone please guide me into properly setting this up so that it works correctly.

  • Best possible setup for the future

I am going to ask a generalized broad question. First some background, then I would appreciate your input.
Used mac desktops up until now. Primarily storage reasons. I am sending my daughter off to college this fall and decided to get our first laptop, nice zippy macpro 15". I have to say I'm very happy stealing this laptop from my daughter. I thought I would not want to do so much picture processing on such a limited screen, as I'm used to two landscape monitors.
The database for Aperture right now is almost 400 gigs. I used managed files. I initially thought about upgrading my old desktops to a new super powerful desktop in the next year of so, as I'm still using powermac PCs.
I wasn't going to consider a laptop as a serious contender for primarily the storage issue.
    Enter thunderbolt.
Now I'm scratching my head and wondering about the potential to utilize this seemingly potential I/O as a game changer to the deal.
#1 - I'm not in a hurry. Time is on my side.
#2 - in the past, desktop Vs laptop was a no brainer to me. That gap has narrow now. The primary issue was screen space and storage, mostly storage/speed really.
#3 - speed gap from laptop to desktop is nominal at best from what I can tell, am I correct in seeing this now as not as clear an advantage of a desktop?
#4 - if I'm understanding thunderbolt right (and since time is on my side), I could potentially have a laptop with some lug around peripherals that would nearly make this like a desktop on the go. Sit down and plug into multiple monitors in a flash with RAID extensions, who knows what. Maybe then grab a raid cube and run with it to a place and essentially take my "desktop" environment with me. Am I thinking straight here or being a bit to idealistic? Seems like that it where Apple/intel is headed with this
#5 - managed Vs referenced. I've read a little about this debate and approach. I've only gone with managed and probably will do so, but in light of what I've said above, any comments?
#6 - backup. Always the biggie for me. backup. I love redundancy. I have time machine this and that thrown around in duplicity, copy over mirror drives here and there, and even put an extra drive or two in a neighbor's closet x2 a year just as an offsite backup in case of catastrophic loss like fire/theft. I'm not crazy over such a fragmented multiple approach, but haven't found what I consider a good alternative just yet to something simple, straightforward, and trustworthy. I'm hoping thunderbolt might lend a whole new ability to move quicker through backup scenarios. Thoughts? What are your approaches when you have a life's work of digital pics and videos and just can't stand the thought of ever ever losing them?
#7 - I would love to have an offsite online backup option for everything, seems that would solve so much of my backup stuff. But as a home user that is seriously into digital whatever, I haven't seem to run across something good as I've been limited to slow upload speeds. Until now. Enter FiOs. I can now(supposedly) do 32 up and down on the Fios, the fastest I think I will be able to get without going to a major business type connection. Does anyone have any knowledge of anything that would be a solid online backup option for 2TB or more of data on a revolving basis? I want to overshoot a bit as I seem to be picking up memory usage quickly with shooting in all RAW now and using higher density HD video. Opinions?
Having said all that, I hope what is coming across is that I'm looking at basically going from a guy who had an old powermac and found he is good at video, photos, and all things fun like that. Expanding into business sides of it slowly, seeming to have good luck, sending a daughter off to college introduced a surprising element to me of a powerful laptop, and now I'm grappling with onsite and offisite storage. Future expansion. thunderbolt potential.
I would appreciate some of you who have much more seasoned interactions with higher end equipment and can appreciate some of the details, if you could give some insight into what might work, might not, how to posture myself the best for future expansion and capabilities, etc. I'm not too worried about price. Obviously I'm a home user, so I don't have a corporate account. But dropping 10 - 20 grand in the next 2 or so years wouldn't be unreasonable if it were to posture me for the best potential use for many years.
    Thanks,
    Robert

#3: At the moment (until MPs are upgraded) the top new MBPs are stronger Aperture boxes than many Mac Pros are. IMO the first true desktop replacement (DTR) laptops. Stick to the stronger graphics options and I very, very strongly recommend the anti-glare display choice.
#5: Managed files are IMO not the way to go for many reasons, and certainly not on a laptop. I recommend using a Referenced-Masters-Library on the internal drive with Preview size set to be the size of your laptop display. Have two large external drives: one for Masters and Vaults and one for offsite backup of the other external.
So #6: Backup is easy, just add more off site drives for more redundancy and change them out frequently (at least weekly or every significant project). For images work mirrors tend to be a waste of drive space. Far more worthy is more frequent real offsite backup. Note that simple changeout of a 2-TB drive to the trunk of the car provides real backup against fire, theft and drive failure.
Originals should be backed up before import into Aperture or any other app anyway. A Managed-Masters-Library not only gets itself ridiculously large, having Masters in Vaults just makes Vaults huge and Vault backups slower, and therefore less likely to be done as frequently.
#4: Yes. Tbt may have some growing pains but I think your insight is accurate. However even without Thunderbolt using a Referenced-Masters-Library with Masters accessed over FW800 i/o is ok. Key is that the Library lives on an internal drive that is kept underfilled, which is easy once you use a Referenced-Masters-Library with Masters on external drives.
Personally I just ordered a 17" 2011 MBP with SSD and am replacing the optical drive with a 750 GB 7200 rpm OWC drive. The Referenced-Masters-Library will live on the SSD while Masters will initially live on the OWC drive then later get relocated to external archive drives.
#1 - I'm not in a hurry. Time is on my side.
Since you are using a Powermac now, I respectfully disagree. Life is short: get thee to a Sandy Bridge MBP asap This new MBP is literally what mobile Aperture users like me have been waiting for since v1.
