Plugin check errors

just installed firefox 32.0 on windows 7 and windows xp and got a new plugin check bug - comes up with "Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-inAdobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in" as vulnerable but when you hit the red button the page just navigates to itself
have also noticed that unknown plugins have disappeared. i have 15 plugins on my xp machine but only 9 appear on the list. where the check can't find a plugins latest version, it should list it as grey unknown, but they are not appearing at all.
finally "Adobe Shockwave Player - Adobe Shockwave for Director plug-in 12.1.252" says "up-to-date" but there is a newer version (253) when you hit the green button. this may not necessarily mean the current version is vulnerable but to say it is up-to-date is incorrect. i remember when i last raised this that in the next release of firefox there was supposed to be a new status to say when something is out-of-date but not necessarily vulnerable, so this doesn't seem to have happened.

I get this.....When I go to "Tools" then click on "Add-Ons" then click "Plug-Ins" and then click on "Check To see If Plug-Ins Are Up To Date" it goes to Mozilla Check Your Plug in Page all it does is sit and spin at the Checking with Mozilla on the status of your plugins. I am using Win7 Pro and just downloaded Firefox update to 32.0.

for the last few days, I've been experiencing long pauses or crashes while viewing a movie or clip using adobe flash. i've had no update requests for flash from auto updates. so my next thought was the flash plugin. however i'm not able to get the plugin updater to work. i get the error message listed above.

  • Why does Mozilla Plugin Check keep giving me a Systems Error? I can't update my plugins otherwise!

No sooner than I log into Plugin Check, it keeps telling me "Systems Error Please try again Later", every single time without fail! I'm sick of not being able to view videos without my Adobe flash player crashing on me! • Plugin-Check page... Mozilla is missing the point.

    Mozilla,
I have used Firefox FAITHFULLY for the past 10 years. I chose Firefox over IE specifically because it has ALWAYS been customizable. While IE (and microsoft) has always been rigid, and forced the user to do things their way, Firefox has been the opposite:
Want a page to look a certain way, there's a plugin for that.
Want more security while you browse, there's a setting for that.
Want to risk it all and have no security, there's a setting for that too!
I have dabbled with other browsers too. Google's Chrome browser has a few things that I like... including the option to save a link to a page as an "app" (creating a fullscreen window for just that page). BUT I chose to completely uninstall chrome when I found out that you cannot disable their certificate security checks.
You see... My bank, the electric company, and several other legitimate sites fail their ssl certificate authentication AND there is NO WAY TO DISABLE this feature. For some reason, the folks at Google think they know what is best for me, and will not give me the option to browse "unsafely" if I so desire.
Now... To the point of this "question"
It seems that recently, the folks at Mozilla have decided to force a "plugin-check" page on all of us. At first, I played nice. I updated my java and flash plugins as it suggested, and it still pops up. I then googled "FOR HOURS" on how to disable the feature. I went to about:config and changed all the Boolean variables I could find, and still the page pops up.
Then I noticed something in doing further research. It seems that in doing hours of research (WHICH I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DO) I have seen posts from lots of others that have also done hours of research, and they are getting the same answers from mozilla:
    "You need to do this"
"You need to change this setting"
"Please tell us what plugin is causing the problem"
if they knew that they wouldn't be asking in the first place
"If you don't help us, we can't help you"
    etc...
The one thing mozilla hasn't said is "Woops... sorry, we forgot to give you the OPTION to do what YOU WANT"
I am very happy that there is an OPTION to make my browsing safer. Were I a casual user that just went to facebook, netflix and the like I would probably be very satisfied. Here's the thing, a great deal of casual users just go with what they have... like IE. People that know more about computing, and henceforth like to change things and do what they like probably use firefox... and firefox is cutting them off. I don't use Acrobat, I use foxit (unrecognized plugin). I use several extensions that HELP ME the way I WANT TO BE HELPED. They work just fine for what I NEED, and I don't want to change them.
I have trouble seeing items on the screen so I use the nosquint plugin... I don't know if it's recognized or not... and I don't care, it works better FOR ME than any of the others that I have tried. Yet, just like Google, and Microsoft before it, Mozilla is attempting to "make me safe" by controlling me. This is unacceptable, I CHOOSE to use firefox because I WANT THE CHOICE to browse MY WAY.
People have come here, and on other sites asking "HOW DO I DISABLE this screen" and, as shown above, the answer is to try and "trick" firefox into submission. The "trick" doesn't work, and both the person that needs help, and the person trying to help (i know... not a mozilla employee) gets frustrated.
The point is, we shouldn't have to "trick" or force firefox to submit to our will by hours of trial and error. We didn't ask for the page to show up in the first place. I'm quite sure there are SOME that are happy it is there, but mozilla needs to realize that there are SOME that are not, and GIVE THEM THE CHOICE do disable an unwanted "option".
In short... Please find a way for us to disable, IN ITS ENTIRETY the outdated plugin check web page that pops up EVERY TIME I start firefox. I know some of my plugins are out of date, and I know some are not recognized. I like it that way. If I wanted to have ZERO control over what MY pc does, I would switch to windows 8 (which doesn't have a metro app for firefox yet)

hello zthaynes, please [[Update Firefox to the latest version]], this should already solve the issue.

  • I have updated my Adobe Acrobat plugin three times today but the firefox plugin check says it is out of date, a problem as I repeatedly encounter "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed" when I attempt to download pdfs.

I am attempting to download pdf's from a library search on JSTOR. I can view the pdf but cannot download them as they say "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". I have been to the firefox plugin check and have updated Adobe Acrobat three times in the last hour, but it still says my plugin is not up to date. This leads me to believe that this may be the source of my crash errors.
I updated Adobe Flash from the same firefox plugin check page and after one try it now says I am up to date, so my system is obviously accepting these updates.
    Help!!!!!

The following solution is useful for people who have the full version of Acrobat 9, but are getting the error message "the Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". You probably want the features in the full version of Acrobat, but still need to be able to open PDF files from your Firefox browser.
Go to Tools > Options > Applications. Scroll down and change all of the Adobe Acrobat files to open with Acrobat 9 (or whatever version you have) instead of "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)". This may not be as handy as having it use Acrobat inside the Firefox browser, but it will still let you open PDF files without having to uninstall the full version of Acrobat. Hope this helps.

  • Plugin Check page not working ?

I've been wanting to check to see if any of my plugins - specifically the one for my Slingbox - need to be updated. Every time I try, however, the Plugin Check page returns with the message "Plugin Finding Service Error We've encountered an error. Please try your request again later."
Is this just me, or is this a known system issue ?

I had the same problem and today I just tried to remove the sharp (#) at the end of my URL and it worked again.
Its quite unlikely that this was the problem as I'm not able to reproduce it but you might want to give it a try anyway.

  • Firefox disables my QuicktimePlayer plugin, although the plugin-check says it is up to date

I am running Firefox 21 (I have not been prompted to update to 22 yet) on MacOS 10.6.8 and in the last two days when I try to view a page that requires the QuicktimePlayer plugin, I see an error message saying that the plugin is outdated and it has been disabled for safety reasons. I can re-activate it from the red icon that appears on the left of the address bar, but what I have noticed is that when I do the plugin check, QuicktimePlayer appears to be up to date! The version of the plugin is 7.6.6 and there is no newer version for my system as far as I know. Is there any way to fix this or is it a known bug?

QuickTime Plugin 7.7.0 and lower (click-to-play), Mac OS X has been blocked for your protection.

The plugin is being checked at the moment (see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=837377) so lets keep fingers crossed to see the problem resolved.

  • Plugin check reports outdated Java on Mac, but Apple update says it is up to date

    This is on a Mac
I used the "Plugin check" to make sure all the plug-ins were up to date.
It said the Java plugin needs to be updated. That takes me to the Java page, which says that Apple supplies its own version of Java and to use Apple Update. Apple update says the system is up to date.
The plugin checker should report an error only if the version of Java can be updated. It cannot be on a mac.

    That's a known bug:

  • AEGP Plugin MediaIO Plugin:MediaIO2 error:0x4 not enough memory to complete this encoding (5027::12)

I am working on a video project in After Effects CS4 (with Trapcode Particular preset) that's 2:12 minutes long on a Windows 7 operating
system. I'm finished editing for the most part, but everytime I put the video in Render Queue it renders the video for a few seconds (sometimes minutes) and then stops with this message appearing: "After Effects logged one error: AEGP Plugin Media IO Plugin: MediaIO2 error: 0x4 not enough memory to complete this encoding (5027::12)". After I closed this message I checked the part of the video that did render was where I saved it to be as a normal file on my Desktop. I made this video with 2 compositions: 1 for the actual importing and editing and the 2nd for the rendering and thinning it out (this is because when I import the footage from my camera it's always very wide in after effects) There is nothing particularly abnormal about the video, not very heavy or anything and most of it isn't animated, just film. The size of the source material for the video is about 4.0 to 8.7MB.
    Computer's Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU  T5500 @ 1.66GHz
    Computer's RAM: 2.00

First of all, CS4 does not work well with non-production codecs like MP4. Use the Adobe Media Encoder (or something similar) to convert your footage to a production codec (Cineform, DNxHD, Quicktime with the Photo JPEG codec or Quicktime with the PNG codec).
Second, you're running AE on a system with only 2 GB of RAM? Good heavens, man - no wonder it ran out of memory! Upgrade that to 4 if at all possible. (Upgrade to much more than that if you have a 64-bit OS and plan to upgrade AE ever. Although, on a machine as old and slow as that, you might be better off getting a new machine if you want to do anything serious in AE.)
Third, what's your exact version number of AE? You should be on 9.0.2 if I recall correctly.
Fourth, your video shouldn't be looking weird in AE. It's probably misinterpreting the pixel aspect ratio of your footage. Fix the interpretation and you shouldn't have to have a separate comp for changing its size.

  • Plugin check opens every time I start firefox

I did a search and none of the solutions seem to help.
    - I checked plugins.update.notifyUser and it was set to true. I changed it to false and it worked one time. Then the next time it's back to true
    - I ran the error console code to update blocklist.xml
    - I disabled all my plugins and extensions
    none have helped yet.

yep, that seems to have done it. I was holding off on the latest version because one of my plugins wasn't compatible, but I guess I can live without it. It's less annoying than having the plugin check run every time.
Below is the plugin info, if you still want to see it.

  • "Network transition in LDAPv3 plugin returned error -14279"

Came in this morning an booted up, and it took forever, and hung like it dows 25% of the time, and dows not show network home user login accounts.
Rebooted, same thing, usually this solves it.
Looked at DirectoryServices.error.log on my machine (client) and this morning there was the flowing, multiple times
    "2007-07-17 08:23:23 PDT - Attempt #1 to initialize plug-in LDAPv3 failed.
Will retry initialization at most 100 times every 1 second.
    2007-07-17 08:23:23 PDT - Network transition in LDAPv3 plugin returned error -14279
    2007-07-17 08:25:03 PDT - 100 attempts to initialize plug-in LDAPv3 failed.
    Setting plug-in state to inactive."
Any thoughts what I am looking at?
Opening Directory Access.app, LDAPv3 was unchecked, when it usually is. I checked it and hit configure and I get an error:
    Directory Services API
Fialed to opne LDAPv3 node. <OK>
I hit OK a few times, it ione the configuration window, with nothing in it, I click on NEW and ger the same above error message, and it bings me back to the configuration window. I cannot add back the binding to the server.
    Thoughts?
Mac Pro 10.4.7, bound to Server 10.4.7
    Repaired permsissions on the client.
Any help on a place to start would be great.
    Thanks

So I dumped the DSLDAPv3PlugInConfig.plist, rebooted, and all worked as normal.
Must have been a corrupt plist file.

  • Update kernel and recieved a "Machine check error"

I was on Vacation this last weekend but was finally able to update today. Upgrade seemd fine, issued reboot command and instead of my normal reboot I was greeted with "machine check error" flashing in my upper left hand corner. Syslinux never came up. I powered off manually and pulled the battery, subsequent reboot went off without a hitch.

I have never seen this error and my googlefu return issues with overclocking which I am not doing. Any info on the subject I'd love to hear.
    Cheers.
EDIT: Was only happening when issuing 'systemctl reboot' so I switched back to 3.10.10-1-ARCH and reboot command now works.

Well, I can tell you that this kind of error is not OS related, but rather a HW thing.  It happens where there is a general detection of something going wrong.  Sometimes it can happen randomly and might not be an indication of a problem.  But sometimes it can be caused by things that are improperly functioning within the system like bad capacitors.
Unfortunately I don't really know what to do about such things except give you machine a proper inspection.  But if things are working fine, and continue to do so, I wouldn't worry about it.  If it becomes a regular occurance, then I'd worry.

  • After downloading the "new version" of Java 6 times, my plugin-check page states that it has disabled my "outdated version" and asks for me to upgrade. What do?

    Background:
I have had this problem for several months, now. This problem began when an update came for Java on the Firefox Plugin-check. I promptly installed the new Java update. But the Firefox update wouldn't register that I downloaded it, even after I refreshed the page. So, I got rid of the old Java, and downloaded the new Java again. When the page continued to display the same message it had before, I downloaded it a few more times. Finally, Firefox stopped saying that I was out of date. Then a few weeks later maybe, I check Firefox Plugin, and on the page it says that I am outdated in Java. So I downloaded Java again. But Java was still in the list, with red and said that it needed to be updated. I restarted the computer. Then, I restarted Mozilla Firefox with no add-ons. When Java still appeared that it needed to be updated, I gave up and didn't do a thing more about it.
    Problem:
Today I decided to check my plugins. Java was not in update the list, and at the top a banner stated, "Missing JAVA? For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Java. Please upgrade to the latest version." I clicked "upgrade to the latest version" and was led to the Java page. I clicked the download button. My cache stated that this was the (6) download of that same Java plugin (see background). I chose to re-download it anyways. But Firefox still insists that I have not downloaded it.
    Question:
Do I need to go to the control panel of Java and change something? Do I need to fix some setting on Firefox? Should I disable Java altogether, delete all Java-related files on my computer, and start all over with Java? What should I do?

Try using http://ninite.com/java/ninite.exe to install Java. Please note that even though you download it you have to double click it to get it to run and install.
