Plugin Check says Adobe Acrobat/Reader 10.0.1 outdated, yet no higher version exists?

Other answers here claim there is a 10.0.2, but updating via Adobe.com or Reader say otherwise.
I am stuck on Windows XP; maybe that's why.

10.1 is now released -- updating to it solved it for me.

  • Plugin check says the Acrobat Reader plugin (10.0.1.434) is an outdated version; however, I downloaded the latest version of Acrobat and installed it. Is there a problem on my PC /environment or with the plugin check?

    1. Did the plugin check on June 10th -- got the message that Acrobat Reader plugin for Firefox and Netscape was an outdated version. Pressed the Update button on the page and was taken to the Adobe site.
    2. Downloaded the latest version, AdbeRdr1001_en_US.exe, and then ran the executable locally on the PC. The update completed normally. Note: I did not unistall the old Acrobat reader before running the executable.
    3. Went back to the plugin check page and I still received the outdated message for that plugin. Have rebooted system (i.e. the next day) and repeated the check, with the same results.
    4. Have opened Acrobat Reader application, pressed Help and then Check for Updates -- no new updates were found. Have run the Mozilla test (Mozilla Privacy Policy PDF) without any issues.
    5. What is the plugin version that should be registered on my PC within the Add-ons Manager?
    6. Please advise on the appropriate steps.

I think there is a bug in Plug-in check. It happened to me as well in the last few days. There's no newer version of Adobe Reader that I know of. Anyway, Adobe is going to release a patch next Tuesday, maybe that'll fix this bug.

  • Why won't plugin check recognize Adobe Acrobat is up to date?

Every time I open a Firefox window I get a plug-in check tab telling me that my Adobe Acrobat is out of date. I have installed the newest version three times now. I even downloaded the install from Adobe's ftp page rather than the page that plug-in check sent me to just to be sure. The plug-in check page even says I am running version 10.0.1, the latest version I can find, but still insists that one's out of date. What's going on here?

I uninstalled Viewpoint Media Player (and the AOL IM client "AIM", since apparently that's what forced Viewpoint Media Player on to my system.)
Viewpoint Media Player is responsible for the plugin called "MetaStream 3 Plugin r4", and I believe this plugin is triggering Firefox to open the plugincheck page. It is not enough to disable the plugin, it must be uninstalled.
For me, after uninstalling Viewpoint Media Player, the "plugincheck always opening" problem then went away.

  • Can not "see" Adobe Acrobat Reader DC in Google Chrome Plugins?  Find in IE.

Downloaded new version of Reader twice and still can not see it in Google Chrome plugsin. Windows 7 with latest version of Google Chrome?
    Suggestions?

    Hi C N,
Going forward, the Adobe Reader plugin will not be supported in Chrome.  The Chromium team has decided to remove support for NPAPI plugins like Adobe Reader. Here's a blog post that describes their decision - http://blog.chromium.org/2014/11/the-final-countdown-for-npapi.html
On Windows, it is still possible to change the Chrome default PDF viewing behavior by configuring plugins (chrome://plugins).  When doing that Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is showing as an out of date version.  Enabling that configuration in current versions of Chrome will allow PDF files to open in the Adobe plugin, but that is not a supported configuration.
On Mac, that configuration is not supported.  When doing that a message is shown that the EULA needs to be accepted before viewing, even if that is no longer required.
To view PDF files in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, we recommend that you download the file in Chrome and open it from your desktop.
    Regards,
    Rave

  • Creating an Adobe Acrobat Reader Plugin (Licensing)

    Adobe Acrobat Reader Plugin
    Hi,
Does anyone know how to go about getting an Adobe Reader plug-in working?
I've read all the 'Adobe Reader Integration Key License Agreement' stuff but I'm a little confused.
My plug-in is specific to my application (it allows a button to be added to Adobe Reader which passes the file name to my application)-nothing complicated.
How do I go from an Adobe Acrobat plug-in to make it an Adobe Reader plug-in also?
Is there really a cost involved in doing this?
Any help and guidance on this would be really appreciated.
    Regards
    Stuart

Note: it is now called Adobe Reader. Adobe Acrobat Reader was the name 10 years ago.
Yes, there really is a cost. You apply to Adobe, and they examine your case and justification. They might approve it, and equally, they may reject it. Then they will negotiate a price with you, perhaps with a one-off cost and perhaps with an annual fee, or both. The fee will depend on volumes and type of plug-in. The most expensive are DRM plug-ins, which seem to demand five figures, recurring.
Finally, if approved and paid for, they issue you with a key and you use it to transform your Acrobat plug-in into one that can load in Reader (it remains loadable in Acrobat). This will be valid for a specific release of Reader only.

Can any one help me with this problem??

    Hi garryw,
What version of Reader are you using, and are you on Mac OS or Windows? Do you get the same error when you try to print other PDF files, or is the problem specific to one PDF?
For starters, please try the solutions listed in this thread: Re: There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat /Reader. If it is running ,please exit and try again.(0:104)
Let us know how it goes.

  • Problem with adobe acrobat/reader - please help!

    Hello,
My acrobat reader was fine and I was able to open the pdf files sent to me, then suddenly it just wouldn't open anything at all.  It went into open mode and just stayed there, and wouldn't let me close it.  Then I got a message saying "there is a problem with adobe acrobat/reader.  Please exit and try again".  I've done this lots of times and it still isn't working.
I would be very grateful for any help or suggestions.  I have windows 7, and as I said its all been fine up until now.
    Thanks.
    mspryce.

This is the Acrobat forum, not the Reader forum. You should check the reader forum. In the meantime, if you are not running AR9.3 or so, you should update. Prior versions before 9 are not designed for Win7 and that might be your issue -- you gave no indication of version.

  • Repeated notification that "Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in" in Firefox is "out of date" after the upgrade is downloaded and installed.

I have tried to update the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, along with the plug-in in Firefox v37.0.1. Repeatedly, after the download/installation is "complete", upon opening Firefox I'm met with the message that the "Adobe Acrobat plug-in" is "out of date". I tried rebooting my machine, uninstalling Acrobat Reader DC (which works as a stand-alone), and still the plug-in is never updated (the one listed is from early December 2014) and the reminder always reappears with opening Firefox. Can anyone help with this?

Sorry about the issue which you are facing. It would be helpful if you could share the firefox notification message screenshot.
Also, please check that the firefox plugins show the correct Adobe Acrobat Reader DC plugin. If possible, please share the firefox plug in screenshot as well.

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader problem

I have not been able to get Adobe Acrobat Reader to work on my phone. My company distributes instruction via pdf files, and I'd been taking my laptop with me on service calls. I still have to do that, because I can't access any .pdf file on my phone except the overly red introductory how-to blurb. One thing that stands out for me is that the app doesn't show up in my app list what so ever. It's listed when I find the 'manage applications' tab. I've tried to download the update, and still no functionality. I uninstalled the update, in hopes of being able to re-install. Is the apps list supposed to include the Adobe Acrobat reader in the list/grid, or am I supposed to only have to go to my list of downloads to get to .pdf's. The downloads list shows where I've tried to download the file, but it always says "download failed".
Am I doing something incorrectly, or is this something that I need to do a factory reset on the phone to rectify? I have the updated Verizon software, but haven't checked to see if there's anything to update to the operating system.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the only Adobe Reader from the Play Store that is from Adobe Systems multiple times.
Is there another setting besides the wifi/data connection option I need to change?
I've gone through the Settings menu to the Applications menu and selected Manage Applications. The Adobe Reader is listed under "All", and when I select that particular app, it's indicating that version 10.1.1 is on the phone. The only options available are to back out of this tab in the menu, or selecting Force Stop.
I suspect that in the first few days of having the phone and the "ooh look at mommy's new toy!" someone may have deleted or removed the app somehow, or otherwise caused some kind of disconnection or malfunction. Going back to the Play Store to try again, the Adobe Reader app only has "Open" or "Update" as options for downloading. I downloaded the update (again) and it is showing version 10.3.0, but the downloads are still failing.
What other little quirks and details am I missing as far as settings, updates, or menu selections? Or should I just back up my pictures and files, and reset the phone back to factory defaults and start over again?

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.05 for Palm OS

I'm attempting to install Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.05 for Palm OS on Microsoft Vista. I have already installed Palm Desktop for Windows 6.2. However, I consistently receive an error dialog box that says I must install Palm Desktop 4.0 or later; after which the install terminates. I'm using a Palm T|X device. I've updated all other software as is available on the Palm support site. Does anyone have a solution for me. Is there a way to extract the .prc from the Adobe installation file? Do to my running Vista, I cannot install an older version of Palm Desktop. Any ideas?

If anyone ever figures out to maximize the screen on the T/X, please email me.  I don't have a lot of time to keep checking back to this forum.  I will send a check for $20 to your favorite charity to anyone who figures this out and sends me an email to me at [email protected]
