Plugin check too slow

hi,
i just wanted to check my plugins update, because firefox was preventing java and flash player to work. So, i entered the plugin page and clicked check for update, i came to page https://www.mozilla.org/tr/plugincheck but i am waiting to much for your page's finishing its work. a circle is turning turning turning near "Checking with Mozilla on the status of your plugins", but no result. i only have to plugins java and flash player. why it is taking too much time to check plugins?

hi eappy, i am sorry that this is happening - this currently appears to be a bug on the website when you have an outdated and blocked version of java present.
please see if the plugin-check runs correctly if you click on the plugin icon on the top left of the address bar and allow java to run (see screenshot).
alternatively you can '''download an update for flash '''player from: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html (if you are on windows, use the .exe for plugin-based browsers).
'''updates for java''' can be found here: https://www.java.com/download/

  • Plugin reloading too slow of multiple applets per page

    Hi,
I want to share a problem with this community and try to shed some light on this.
We all know that an applet loads slow when the JVM loads for the first time or when an applets JAR gets loaded. Fine and not the problem here.
However, applets load too slow when loaded again during the same browser session. Why is this important? Well, in an AJAX-like intranet application you may use multiple applets per page which are loaded again and again as you navigate. The applets could enrich the user experience much the way AJAX does -- if only the applets would not slow down loading of pages.
For example: we have pages with about 10 applets which take about 4 seconds to reload, or 400 ms per applet. This is disappointingly slow because there is no technical excuse for this -- everything is up and running on the Java side and Flash prooves that loading ActiveX can be fast, too. Moreover, it became slower and slower from 1.1 to 1.5.
Nobody at Sun or elsewhere seems to care about this. And therefore, the plugin has now became problematic in Ajax-like intranet scenarios.
This is a pitty and we would very much welcome any kind of activity to improve this.
Anybody knows why this is slow and what is planned to improve this?

There is one known optimization (which may be useful for the readers of this topic):
One may try to keep at least ONE applet with the given EXACT (IDENTICAL archive string) classpath active, e.g., in a frame. This keeps the classloader referenced all the time and avoids reconstruction of the class loader.
However, we already apply this technique and the question is how to get reloading of applets with a ready classloader as fast as FLASH...

  • New iMac running 10.10.1 frequently pauses, way too slow

I recently bought a 27 inch iMac, installed Yosemite, and migrated my files by time machine from a 5 year old macbook Pro running Snow Leopard. Since updating to 10.10.1, I frequently get the spinning beachball while I wait to continue, and everything seems much slower than it should. Safari downloads take forever, compared to Firefox. I ran an EtreCheck report pasted below. I tried some easy fixes like removing desktop clutter, reducing transparency, but that doesn't affect the overall slowness. Any solutions welcome!
    Problem description:
Installed Yosemite on new iMac, migrating from snow leopard on an older macbook pro.  Instead of being fast, processes frequently pause for bit while the beachball spins, then resume. Way too slow, much slower than my old macbook pro.

RAM usage as such is not your problem since Mavericks is designed to use as much as is available.  Read this:

Since you have Parallels installed, a RAM increase would be beneficial.
    Ciao.

  • Disk Too Slow??? Why now?

    Hello all,
I have been using Logic Pro for the last five years on my system with no problems and all of a sudden, now I can't record a single audio track without a "Disk Too Slow" problem. Literally, the project can have only one track and it will still give me an error.
    My System:
    PowerMac Dual G5 2.5GHz w/ 3GB RAM
    Mac OSX 10.4.11
160 GB Hard Drive (provided by Apple) - 58.9 GB left - Logic installed here
250 GB Hard Drive - 130 GB left - recording done on here
    M-Audio Project Mix I/O
For years I have been recording with Logic and I've never had this problem. I haven't done anything new, haven't installed anything new, or anything like that and just now I've been having these problems. I'm a DJ and audio recording constantly for upwards of 90 minutes straight is vital.
    Here's what I've done:
    * Tried changing buffer settings (set from 128 --> 512)
    * Tried making sure no other applications are running
    * Tried emptying trash
    * Tried turning off Airport
Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

    Hi there,
Sorry to read you are having troubles with this.
I have had the same troubles since Tuesday. All of a sudden I started getting Beach Balls and "Disc too slow". A few occasions I had a message saying that my "midi port was not found" on my MOTU.
Here what I spent the last couple of days doing.... I am sure you have tried them all but maybe something here may help
With some kind help from a forum regular, I reset my MOTU interface to factory settings. I repaired my permissions on my system drive.
I ran a "check disc" for my external audio drive, it past every time, but I repaired it any way.
I took my drive out of the firewire case to check the connections because it seemed it could be a power issue, tried it in another case. (I put the drive together so I felt comfortable doing this)
I also removed a plug in that I had added IK CSR reverb, I had installed it the day my system started giving me "disc too slow" messages.
I also removed all of my TRacks plugins from sessions, they are resource hogs and may have not been helping.
I also trashed my logic preferences.
Things at the moment are looking better.
If my problem still exists it may be in my case the drive being on its way out. It is only a year and a half old, and dose pass disc utility tests every time.
So I am thinking that I may have been mixing out my machine with plugs then having to do hard re-boots not helping things.
Sorry to hijack things, just hoping that we can maybe find a common cause, and solution,
    Good luck,
    Jay

  • The browers (FireFox, IE) too slow and hang when load Spanish language many

    Hello There,
I am using the STRUTS Framework 1.1 for developing web application.

If you select Supplier then the sub info of this Supplier will be displayed in below. As this action, I have selected many many Supplier for see sub info (Address, Employee...) many time.
When the action submit to Server then I see the Buyer info also change when display because Company Name and Company Address are the Spanish language.
    Origin info:
    Name : ABC Espaa S.A.
Address: Carretera de LHospitalet, n 11, Nave 1, 08940 Cornell de Llobregat (Barcelona)

We have 2 string very long in results when I select many many time and browser too slow and hang if the are to long. That problem only happen with the Spanish language, in other languages are not, It works good.
Please help me to solve these above problems, I have tried to add code in JSP page
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset =ISO-8859-1"> or <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset =UTF-8">
But it also hang the browser.
    Thanks a lot,
    Vu Nguyen

Well... Are you sure that the problem is within the browser? If both browser hang, then check if your OS supports the language the right way. Also, your browsers my have plugins/addons for supporting other languages. Try to look for them or/and post your systems-names here to help others helping you =).

  • HT1935 "Disk is too slow or System Overload-" Only 1 soft synth in project

I am getting the message "Disk is too slow or System Overload…" message when trying to playback in Logic Pro 9.1.8. This happens with only one soft synth plug in within any project. I am running Lion 10.7.5 on my Early 2011 13" Macbook Pro, upgraded to 8GB of RAM. This happened before I upgraded the RAM too.
I have checked all of my Logic preferences and they're set to what Apple suggest to keep CPU usage in check.
I have tried turning off my "Motion Sensor" and it still happens, so I don't think it's that.
If someone could advise me on what might be causing this I'd be very grateful.

    Hi
    Which Soft Synth plugin?
Does the problem happen with all plugs or 1 specific one?

    Thank you,

Check your web server's access logs to see how many requests web start is sending for each jar. After you've loaded the application the first time, for each subsequent launch, if you've got everything configured right, you should only see requests for the JNLP file and maybe some gifs because web start should load everything else out of the cache (if you're using the version-based download protocol). Or if you're using the basic download protocol, then you might see requests for each jar file, but even in this case, if your web server is prepared to evaluate the last-updated attribute for each jar request and for jars that have not changed, respond with no actual payload and a header value of Not-Modified, then that should run almost as fast.
You might also want to consider changing the "check" attribute of the "update" element from "always" to "background" for a couple of reasons. It should allow your app to start sooner (but this means that you might have to launch once or twice after an update is applied to the web server before the update shows up on the workstation). Also, my impression is that "always" is broken and prevents web start from ever checking to see if your jnlp file has been updated if you launch your app from a web start shortcut - launching from a browser is less likely to have this problem, depending on how often your browser is configured to check for updated resources.

  • Please Help! All Sounds in Classic are too slow now!

Something dreadful happened (wish I knew what) and now every sound that is played back by any Classic application is about 70% too slow.
No matter if it is a Classic game like Unreal (I), Deus Ex, AvP for OS9 (the OSX version works fine), or Quicktime 6, or any other given Classic application. The only sounds that appear normal are the Platinum system sounds.
I don't know which files affect Classic sound playback or where they are located. Can't imagine what could cause that particular problem.
    Hope someone could help...
    Many thanks in advance

Sorry, didnt get an email notification, so I just checked the thread.
Starting and quitting Garage Band actually helped!
(Imagine listening to the meaningful dialogues in "Deus Ex" spoken with Sesame Street's Cookie Monster voice. Aaaaannnd reeealllly sllloowwww. Doesn't quite capture the mood...)
Do you have an explanation why Garage Band should affect Classic sound output?
    Thanks a lot,

    Hi ...
Checked to see how much free space there is on the startup disk lately?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
Freeing Up Hard Disk Space - Mac GuidesFreeing Up Hard Disk Space - Mac Guides
If disk space is not the issue, booting in Safe Mode deletes system caches that may help.
A Safe Mode boot takes longer then a normal boot so be patient.
Once you see the Desktop, click the Apple menu icon top left corner of the screen.
From the drop down menu click Restart.
See if that makes a difference ...

  • Error message: "Disk is too slow or System Overload."

When I try to record from the line-in on my MacBook Pro (2.16GHz, 2GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD), I get after some time (that can range from a few seconds to a few minutes) the error message: "CoreAudio: Disk is too slow or System Overeload. (-10010)".
This is weird because I get that error even when recording into an empty project. I have no such error on my old PowerBook G4 (867MHz, 512MB RAM) with the same version of Logic Express (most recent). Both computers are fully up-to-date.
I also get that error on my MacBook Pro very often when I'm working on a project and it's getting pretty annoying, it sorts of halts the process each time...
I also have Mail, iCal and Adium running at the same time as Logic Express, none of which use much CPU so the problem can't realistically be from them...
Any help to resolve this issue or at least shed some light on the potential cause would be greatly appreciated!

Simply having idle applications in the background is probably fine, but I certainly believe that something like Mail checking for new messages in the middle of recording in Logic could cause problems.
I would also check Activity Monitor to see if you have any background processes running that you aren't aware of. My wife's iBook slowed to a crawl once, and I discovered that a printer driver she installed to use a printer at work was using about 80 percent of the CPU.

  • Plugin-Check page... Mozilla is missing the point.

    Mozilla,
I have used Firefox FAITHFULLY for the past 10 years. I chose Firefox over IE specifically because it has ALWAYS been customizable. While IE (and microsoft) has always been rigid, and forced the user to do things their way, Firefox has been the opposite:
Want a page to look a certain way, there's a plugin for that.
Want more security while you browse, there's a setting for that.
Want to risk it all and have no security, there's a setting for that too!
I have dabbled with other browsers too. Google's Chrome browser has a few things that I like... including the option to save a link to a page as an "app" (creating a fullscreen window for just that page). BUT I chose to completely uninstall chrome when I found out that you cannot disable their certificate security checks.
You see... My bank, the electric company, and several other legitimate sites fail their ssl certificate authentication AND there is NO WAY TO DISABLE this feature. For some reason, the folks at Google think they know what is best for me, and will not give me the option to browse "unsafely" if I so desire.
Now... To the point of this "question"
It seems that recently, the folks at Mozilla have decided to force a "plugin-check" page on all of us. At first, I played nice. I updated my java and flash plugins as it suggested, and it still pops up. I then googled "FOR HOURS" on how to disable the feature. I went to about:config and changed all the Boolean variables I could find, and still the page pops up.
Then I noticed something in doing further research. It seems that in doing hours of research (WHICH I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DO) I have seen posts from lots of others that have also done hours of research, and they are getting the same answers from mozilla:
    "You need to do this"
"You need to change this setting"
"Please tell us what plugin is causing the problem"
if they knew that they wouldn't be asking in the first place
"If you don't help us, we can't help you"
    etc...
The one thing mozilla hasn't said is "Woops... sorry, we forgot to give you the OPTION to do what YOU WANT"
I am very happy that there is an OPTION to make my browsing safer. Were I a casual user that just went to facebook, netflix and the like I would probably be very satisfied. Here's the thing, a great deal of casual users just go with what they have... like IE. People that know more about computing, and henceforth like to change things and do what they like probably use firefox... and firefox is cutting them off. I don't use Acrobat, I use foxit (unrecognized plugin). I use several extensions that HELP ME the way I WANT TO BE HELPED. They work just fine for what I NEED, and I don't want to change them.
I have trouble seeing items on the screen so I use the nosquint plugin... I don't know if it's recognized or not... and I don't care, it works better FOR ME than any of the others that I have tried. Yet, just like Google, and Microsoft before it, Mozilla is attempting to "make me safe" by controlling me. This is unacceptable, I CHOOSE to use firefox because I WANT THE CHOICE to browse MY WAY.
People have come here, and on other sites asking "HOW DO I DISABLE this screen" and, as shown above, the answer is to try and "trick" firefox into submission. The "trick" doesn't work, and both the person that needs help, and the person trying to help (i know... not a mozilla employee) gets frustrated.
The point is, we shouldn't have to "trick" or force firefox to submit to our will by hours of trial and error. We didn't ask for the page to show up in the first place. I'm quite sure there are SOME that are happy it is there, but mozilla needs to realize that there are SOME that are not, and GIVE THEM THE CHOICE do disable an unwanted "option".
In short... Please find a way for us to disable, IN ITS ENTIRETY the outdated plugin check web page that pops up EVERY TIME I start firefox. I know some of my plugins are out of date, and I know some are not recognized. I like it that way. If I wanted to have ZERO control over what MY pc does, I would switch to windows 8 (which doesn't have a metro app for firefox yet)

hello zthaynes, please [[Update Firefox to the latest version]], this should already solve the issue.

  • DISK TOO SLOW on a POWERBOOK G4!

Hi can someone pleeeeaasse help me quick!!! I have just spend loadsa dosh buying a midi keyboard, mic and a fast track audio device for my powerbook! I have 34gb free on the hard drive, 256mb of memory, and a 1.33ghz powerPC G4 processor. The operating system is mac OS X 10.3.9! However, when i try to record guitar (and this is the first track in so who knows when i'm on the 10th what would happen) it just says 'disk too slow' about a minute to a minute and a half into the recording! I've read the solutions saying buying a external hard-drive is the way to go - but i can't afford to buy one if it won't help. Basically I want to be able to record quite a few tracks comfortably can you tell me what i need to buy (ie firewire harddrive) or what i need to do (ie install garage bands 2) to increase my performance and stop these problems. Thanks!!!!

You should not be seeing "Too Slow" errors with a single track, even my stock 800Mc iBook with only 256MB of RAM could record 8-9 tracks on the internal drive.
You're going to need to see what else might be causing that.
Other Apps running? Checked Activity Monitor to see if anything is hogging resources?
Have you tried logging out and back in, launching only GB? Logged in as another user?

  • Solution Manager too Slow

    Dear All,
We are running SAP Solution Manager 7.01 on Oracle 11g in AIX.
This central Solution Manager system is connected to more than 150 satellite systems.
The response of the system is too slow while we take transactions like solman_workcenter, RZ20 etc.
Is this because the system needs to fetch/collect infromation from all these 150 satellites before preseting the screen.
Solman is running with 10 CPU, 50 GB RAM and 82 GB swap.
The portal pages in the transactions takes more time to load.
Could you please help me to pin point the bottle neck in the system.
    Regards,
    Kiran

    Hi,
Basically with 150 systems you may experience network capacity issue.
It does not matter if the system is the Solution Manager or any other SAP system. The analysis start from inspecting the overall time distribution by using the /nSTAD, then depending on the outcome check persistency, remote communication and locking with ST05 .
If in STAD there are huge wait times then definitely the network capacity should be inspected with OS-level monitoring tools, same for the CPU, memory and disk.
Regarding the java side views, it is very important to inspect the java side performance using the JDSR statistics in NetWeaver Web Administrator. There you would see the java side resource consumption to localize a potential memory consumption or CPU related issue. It is very important to clarify if the bottleneck is not the Garbage collection in java - if that is the case, the heap size parameters need to be tuned.
    Best Regards,
    Sylvia
