    Premiere can't open the Displacement Map filter saved in AE as a PP file. Says DM filter is missing. Also get a message that the format of the AE file does not match the sequence. Asks me to keep existing settings or match sequence - neither way works. Tried to dynamic link as well - no luck. I'm a noob, so could be something real simple.
    Thanks

    Effects or any other features like e.g. text or shape layer, which do not exist in PrPro, can't be translated when you export your AE project as PrPro project. Similar things happen when you replace a clip (or a group of clips) in PrPro timeline with dynamically linked AE composition: titles, quite a few effects and transitions are not translated (at least properly).
    However, dynamically linked AE composition is treated as a composite in PrPro. Hence, there should be no issue seeing the result of applying any effect inside dynamically linked composition in PrPro timeline. If you have some difficulties with it, please provide a detailed explanation of what you want to achieve and what you're doing exactly.

  • Displacement Map not working in PSE9

    I made a displacement map in my PSE9 and when I went to use it it does not load. I have tried this several times and nothing works. I don't know if these may be some settings that I need to change in my program. If someone could help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Kim

    Windows Vista 64 and no error message or anything.  It just doesn't show up in the Undo History.
    I posted a message on www.scrappersguide.com, and there was a suggested solution.  It had to do with where the displacement map file was stored, i.e., the folder.  I had saved it to a folder that I had created for the zipped video tutorial file.  As soon as I saved the displacement map file to another folder, it worked.  I haven't a clue why that would make a difference, but it did.  I got it to work.

  • I am searching for displacement maps on Photoshop CS5.

    Displacement Maps should be inside the Photoshop application, in the Plug-Ins folder. But they are not there. I use PS CS5. If you know where they are, can you help me? Thank you in advance.

    In the event you would like to experiment with Displacement Mapping, I have attached a copy of an Information Sheet I wrote for my students.
    The Unique Effect of Displacement Mapping
    Displacement Mapping is the process of changing the geometry of an image so that such elements, as straight lines, are contoured according to the tones appearing the in image in the layer below it. This is how it is done.
    1. Open a file
    2. Choose Image > Duplicate. In the As: field enter file name as: filename_map.psd. (Example: man_map.psd). This file, which will ultimately serve as the Displacement Map must be in psd format.
    3. Choose Image > Mode > Grayscale.  Increase the image contrast using Curves or Levels. Since each image is unique, there is no exact setting. Then choose Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Once again, there is no set amount. The sample below is a useful guide.
    4. Save this file – filename_map.psd -- to the desktop.
    5. Open another file consisting of a pattern or type*. Drag that image over the full color image. It will be Layer 1. For the samples below, this was the image that was used. (You may recognize it as the Bayer array camera chip design.)
                 * If you choose to use type for Layer 1, it must be rasterized. After typing, choose Layer > Rasterize > Type.
    6. Choose Filter > Distort > Displace. The default numbers of 10 for Vertical and Horizontal Scale usually work very well. For greater displacement,15 is satisfactory, as well. Radio buttons should be set to Stretch to Fit and Repeat Pixel Edges. Click OK.
    7. Choose a Blend Mode of Multiply or Overlay (the results appear below). Experiment with other Blend Modes, as well. Adjust the opacity of Layer 1 for the most pleasing effect.
    8. In the images below, a mask was added to Layer 1 by clicking on the mask symbol at the bottom of the Layers panel. Then, by painting in black on the eyes, that area of the bottom layer was revealed.
    In the example below, the same Displacement Map was applied as had been used in the previous example. A light blue Stroke was applied to the rasterized type so that it would be readable against the black background of the image when the 100% Multiply Blending Mode was added, as shown at the bottom/right.

  • Can I make a speed displacement map?

    Is it possible for me to for example play the very left of my clip at 10% of the original clip's speed and the right at 200% with a smooth gradient of speed change inbetween (10% ~~~~ 200%)?
    I do not want to do the time displacement effect - which just plays back at normal speed. I want to displace the speed
    Any help?
    Many thanks
    L

    What you'll want to do is to animate the gradient you're using for the time displacement map. Time displacement sets the time of the current frame based on the luminance level of the displacement layer. If the luminance value is 50% gray there is no change in time. IOW the video runs at real time. If the CTI is at 2 seconds, the video is at 2 seconds.
    If you were to set the displacement to 10, then a black value would move the time over black back 10 seconds and the time value over white forward 10 seconds. This means that if the CTI (current time indicator) were at 10 seconds the part of the frame over black would be at the in point and the video over white would be at 20 seconds.
    So working out your request and figuring you want this effect to last for 10 seconds, your clip would have to be 20 seconds long to be long enough to play at 200% speed for 10 seconds. Your time offset would be 20. You'd animate the right side of the gradient from 50% to 100% white over 10 seconds so that the video on that side of the screen would move forward in time from the in point to the 20 second mark in 10 seconds. The left side of the screen requires some deeper thinking. You want that side to only be at the 2 second mark after 20 seconds which is where it would be if the video were running at 10% speed. Animating the luminance value of that side would go the opposite direction. You'd go from 50% to 10% over 10 seconds. This means that the time of the left side of the screen would go from the in point to 2 seconds in 10 seconds.
    I hope you followed that. My math was done in my head so it may not be completely accurate because luminance values may or may not be linear, but the theory is absolutely correct.
    Note: You can set the luminance value quickly in the color picker by simply typing the percentage directly in the B or brightness value.

  • 'Operation could not be completed' when trying to load a displacement map

    Im running PS CS6 13 x64 on a MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.2. I want to load a displacement map but when I'm in the Displace dialogue box and I click OK I get 'Operation could not be completed' Any ideas? it's pretty urgent and have been on hold on the Adobe helpline for 30 minutes so far!!!!

    Anything particular about the files (Color Mode, size, …)?

  • Mapping para fondo de ahorro

    Buen dia,

  • Displacement mapping - Info for Adobe

    This is not asking for help but just something I want to pass on to Adobe.   When using Photoshop CC 2014 and Photoshop CC and saving a .psd file of high contrast to be used as a displacement file, I could not get it to work.  After a lot of effort I found that if the Maximum compatibility box was not checked ( I had it turned off), the file would not displace the layer.  I was using Halftone stripes on a layer and it was converted to a smart object.   Turning on this compatibility made it work.  It should work either way.  I think this is a bug but most people would have it turned on by default and not notice.  However, that makes a larger file size.
    Thanks for reading,
    Ron

    You can also just save a flattened copy of the psd without Maximum compatibility on.

  • How to map para style by script

    Hi
    My indesign file has already some Group style, when I try to flow the XML file in Indesign that time same style of paragraph are not mapped with automatically. FYI
    Here 'TXT' style is already defined in 'Chapters' Group style (see Part A). After flowing again 'TXT' (see Part B) is coming in without mapping.
    Now I want to map the 'Part B' style with 'Part A' is this possible by script?

    Hi
    I have used this code but its showing errors
    _mappingStyle("TXT", "Chapters", "Chapter_Title")

  • Depicting Shark sensors with Plugins/Compositing?

    heya
    currently i am working on a project that involves depicting Shark sensory abilities.
    the task i have been set is representing a sharks electro, thermal and scent sensors both from a POV of the shark(recieving signal) and the prey(transmitting signal)
    i will be overlaying(compositing) organic fx over real HD footage depicting the 3 sensors. my question i pose to y'all is a suitable plugins that can provide the best outcome!!
    While i understand there is never a one plugin answer and its likely that a combination of filters and tweaking will be involved...i am open to suggestion as to how to create the best output.
    I have a budget to purchase 3 plugins per sensor effect..so again i am open to suggestion here as to what you would be possible options.
    so, let me break down how i envisage the 3 sensory effects:
    scent: i see this as a silvery tendril effect getting transmitted from the prey and slowly dissipating...i'm anticipating this effect will move through x,y,z space (show perspective)
    my solution: trapcode form (i assume like all other trapcode plugins this allows the comp camera to fly around the effect as if it appears to have volume????)...tweak and blur to suit
    electro sensitivity: sharks(great whites) have small holes on its snout to sense electrical currents.This sensitivity to electrical currents allows the great white to detect nearby prey whose beating hearts, gill actions, and muscle contractions all give off small electrical signals.
    not sure how to create this affect entirely...i was thinking maybe track emitting points on the prey, turn that into a displacement map and run that over the footage so i distorts it??...kinda like a predator type effect accept it gets transmitted out from the source?...i reckon it'll look real busy and probably quite crap...but again open to suggestion?...maybe transmitting a subtle plasma effect out from the prey???
    thermal footprint: sharks detect a thermal footprint emitted from the prey.
    my solution: emmiting a trapcode smoke cloud with a color change over time....red for close to the source disappating into a yellow?? run a blur or even change the particle???
    so there you have it, any suggestions welcome...as i said i have a budget to buy plugins...but already have some of the trapcode plugins,(but not trapcode form)
    the key words that i wish to be reflected in the fx are : ORGANIC, SUBTLE ...but definately not diagramatic!!!
    if you have read this far...thanks for your patience!!...and thanking the ones in advanced for any suggestions!!..please feel free to ask any question
    regards
    Nate
    MacBook Pro, AE 6.5, AE 7, trapcode shine, particular, glow, combustion 2
    unfortunately i can't afford any 3D apps at the moment

    >not sure how to create this affect entirely...i was thinking maybe >track emitting points on the prey, turn that into a displacement map >and run that over the footage so i distorts it??...kinda like a >predator type effect accept it gets transmitted out from the >source?...i reckon it'll look real busy and probably quite crap...but >again open to suggestion?...maybe transmitting a subtle plasma effect >out from the prey???
    Not realistic. The EM field changes with every move of any object and even the surroundings will have different electrical potential e.g. due to different temperatures and streaming velocities in the water. More likely it will be perceived as some sort of fake color with "flashes" whenever there is a significant change in the EM field. In a way the shark would be flying through some sort of "electrical fog". The peaks themselves would be perceived as white flashes or electrical sparks as you would see them in a dark room, I guess.
    >thermal footprint: sharks detect a thermal footprint emitted from the >prey. my solution: emmiting a trapcode smoke cloud with a color
    >change over time....red for close to the source disappating into a
    >yellow?? run a blur or even change the particle???
    Again, not realistic. Thermal footprints can last for hours, though arguably the differences would be minute with coldblooded species such as fish. In my view you should not work with changes in the color over time at all. It's also worth noting that it matters whether a fish appear on its own or if it swims in a swarm. Swarms are usually warmer due to the compression of the water by the movement.

  • Displacement

    Does anyone know if there's an Illustrator equivalent to Photoshop’s Displacement Map?
    I need to be able to horizontally displace an area of vertical stripes using a specific greyscale displacement map.
    It’s fairly simple in Photoshop but I would much prefer vector output.
    O.k., I could do it in Photoshop and then vectorize the result with Live Trace, but is there a less roundabout method?

    Just as I initially thought: it is possible using scripting -- and in particular, using Scriptographer, as this extends Illustrator's fairly poor scripting abilities up to handling bitmap graphics with grace.
    See this image: left is a bitmap copied straight out of Photoshop, right is a grid of lines using the image as displacement map.
    Unfortunately, my lack of Illustrator scripting skills betray me (again!), and I cannot get a good grip on how to adjust existing artwork along the lines of the same map. So far, I got this code:
    /* Poor Man's Displacement Map */
    /* A Jongware Script 10-Feb-2013 */
    var rasters = document.getItems({
        type: Raster,
        selected: true
    var image = null;
    if (rasters.length < 1)
              url = Dialog.fileOpen ('Select a displacement map', '*.png', new File("~/Desktop"));
              if (url != null)
                        image = new PlacedFile(url);
                        image = image.embed();
    } else
              image = rasters[0];
    sampleWidth = 200;
    for (x=0; x<sampleWidth; x++)
              xsample = x*image.width/sampleWidth;
              // Add a vertical line
              var myPath = new Path();
              myPath.add(new Point(x, 0));
              myPath.add(new Point(x, 100));
              myPath.strokeColor = new RGBColor(0,0,0);
              seg = 1;
              for (y=1; y<100; y++)
                        // image coordinates are reverse of Illustrator's
                        // hence the 100-y
                        ysample = (100-y)*image.height/100;
                        value = 1-image.getPixel(xsample, ysample).gray;
                        myPath.insert(seg, new Point(x-8*value, y));
                        seg++;
              myPath.smooth();
    .. feel free to post it on the Scripting forum; perhaps someone else can leverage it up to something you can use.
    This is not regular Javascript! It uses Jürg Lehni's (and others) Scriptographer plugin for Illustrator CS4. Unfortunately, Jürg discontinued working on Scriptographer for CS6; see the web site for his argumentation. (It's a pity Adobe doesn't want to discuss integrating Sg into Illustrator, as its capabilities vastly surpass their own script integration, as this my short script shows.)

  • Dynamic configuration not working in Java mapping

    Hi All,
    I have a scenario where i  am using java mapping. In this i am doing following
    1)Read file name from input message header
    2)set file name in output message Header
    3) set Directory name in output message Header
    i  have used following code .. but iit is not working... when i test end  to end...  in reciver communication channel it is failing stating " message failed as "Directory is not set in Header. Also i checked in SXMB_MONI  "dynamic configuration".It is not showing Directory.
    this is code.
    public void transform(TransformationInput transformationInput,TransformationOutput transformationOutput)
                   throws StreamTransformationException {
                   private Map para;
                   String Directory ;
                   String  inputFileName;
                   String var1 = "ABC";
                   para = transformationInput.getInputHeader().getAll();
                   DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) para
                             .get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
                   DynamicConfigurationKey keyFileName1 = DynamicConfigurationKey
                   .create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File", "FileName");
                         inputFileName = conf.get(keyFileName1);
                   DynamicConfigurationKey keyFilename = DynamicConfigurationKey

                   Directory = "tmp/"+var1;
                   conf.put(keyFilename,inputFileName);
                   conf.put(keyDirecory, Directory);
    I am in PI 7.1 ,   and in eclipse its showing warning that Para is not used.
    Can anyone show some lights.
    Also is there any way to debug this?? like is there any function by which i can write the trace for each step to see those in MONI.

    Method name:   public void createDirectory(Resultlist result, Container container)throws StreamTransformationException
    //Use Simple UDF and do the following lines
    String Directory ;
    String  inputFileName;
    String var1 = "ABC";

    Directory = "tmp/"+var1;
    conf.put(keyFilename,inputFileName);
    conf.put(keyDirecory, Directory);
    and remove these 3 lines
    //private Map para;
    //para = transformationInput.getInputHeader().getAll();
    //DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) para.get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION
    >>I am in PI 7.1 , and in eclipse its showing warning that Para is not used.Can anyone show some lights.
    You can simply remove declaring Map Para line... The eclipse gives warning because you dont assign values for it and you are trying to use...
    For using the same input file name in output side, you dont need coding ... you need only for the directory...

  • Displacement filter not working in Photoshop cc

    I just downloaded Photoshop CC and was trying to use the displacement filter. Photoshop freezes every time I try, and when I open the Task Manager the message Displacement Failed appears. When I end that task the program will unfreeze, but I still don't get to use the displacement filter. Any suggestions?

    Thanks for your help! It seems CC changed some of my preferences from what
    I had. Maybe it will work better now. I thought maybe the image I used for
    the Displacement Map had to be 8 bits, even though the rest of the file is
    16 bits.
    I have lots of available drive space. The install had reset to C drive for
    the cache. C has about 1GB free space.
    Preference setting
        cache levels - 4
        History states - 20
        GPU - Advanced
                        - everything checked except 30 bit display
    RAM allocated -  it reset the level at install to 8.8GB. I just increased
    it to 10.5GB
    Scratch Disc Config - At install changed to C drive only (~1GB available).
    I just changed the order to my SSD with 107GB free as primary and another
    drive with 1722 GB free as secondary.
    I checked and I am using the 64 bit version of Photoshop.

  • PB Displacement filter really slow with big images

    hello;
         I am trying to make a Pixel bender displacement filter that will handle displacements bigger than 128 pixels, for flash. Right now flash only uses one 8 bit color channel to represent a displacement,  which can not be bigger than 128 pixels. I am trying to make a pixel bender kernel that will take 3 color channels( 24 bit) as a displacement, which should be able to handle displacements as big as 8388608. That is obviously bigger than I need.
         The problem i am finding is that when the image or the displacement maps are too big it runs really slow. With images the size 3072x768,  it runs at 3 frames per second on an intel based mac.
