PlugIn/Effect Question

I am somewhat new to FCE. I've been playing with it for about four months now, and I have made some great movies so far.
Most of my editing has been pretty basic. I am slowly hoping to learn more about newer plug-ins/effects, as I would like to use them in future videos. One that I have noticed in a movie on Vimeo I am in love with. The problem is I have no Idea where to obtain effects like this, and how to go about getting them.
If anyone could help it would be great. The link is http://vimeo.com/17624183 and the effect comes in at about 27 seconds.
Also, I would love to hear recommendations on which plugin/effect package I should obtain based on price and quality. I will be doing mostly sports highlight videos.
Thank You!!

  • How to identify and remove duplicate plugin effects from AE cs5 please?

    hello,
i installed some trial plug in effects for AE and PPRO cs5
    cycore, boris, trapcode
    the PPRo went great
however, with the AE i get notices that multiple instances of 'such and such' effect
is installed more than one time...there's about 15 that give me a warning each time i start AE...
i tried my best to locate any duplicates but no luck
How do you identify and remove duplicate plug in effects for AE CS5?
    thanks,
    j

    hello,
it is nice when you can answer your own question...
looked in 'common...media core...' and found the new blue trial plugins
also had the duplicates of the new blue plugins in the AE plugins 'effects' folder
deleted the plugins from the 'media core' folder
    no more warning signs...
    cool deal
    back to work,
    j

  • Plugin Effects not showing up in FCPX

    Hi,
I recently bought a new computer.  I installed FCPX and copied my plugin effects to the movie folder (motion templates, etc.) the same way I had them working in my old computer, but the effects are not showing up in FCPX when I launch the Application.  I read somewhere that it might be a permission issue so I ran disk utility but it didn't make a difference.  Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Marc

I know this is an old thread but I had the same issue. Found this on Apple's Motion help document. This was very helpful:
.moef is the Final Cut Effect template extension.
.motn is the Final Cut Generator template extension.
.moti is the Final Cut Title template extension.
.motr is the Final Cut Transition template extension.
Just be sure your templates are in the right folder. I had downloaded a template that I thought was a title but ended in .motn, which meant it was supposed to be in the /Movies/Motion Templates/Generators/ folder. Good luck!

  • * JMF PlugIn Effect/Codec Filter for Motion Detection : Source Example *

I have noticed some posts on here recently about reading a webcams pixel stream and as at least one example the processing of that data for robotics, or another for motion detection or tracking.
This can mean a requirement for fast frame processing, setting the datasource framerate, and to implement as easily as possible; eg a simple JMF effect or codec plugin to set on the processor.
I have a link as follows to some source and examples for such plugin effects, and some of you may find this interesting if not also useful.
See an updated http://www.exactfutures.com/index02.htm for the new download. Enjoy.

    thanx Andy

  • LPX Filter and Effect Questions..

Hi all - still somewhat new to LPX (10.0.6).
With regards to filters and effects, there's two things I can't figure out how to do:
    (1) Apply an effect gradually, overtime. An example would be the EQ changing throughout a few bars.
    (2) Set a start point for filters that automatically reset after a specific number of bars. I'm using the Always Rising Filter preset for the basic Auto Filter and have it set to 8 bars. The problem is I can't tell it which bar to start with. It starts at measure 5 and goes to measure 12, I want it to start at 1 and go to 8. How can I change this?
I know these are kind of amateur questions, I've googled and can't seem to find an answer. Thanks!
    Rebekah

You could try automation. With a slowly changing eq for example...
Say you've got an eq over a Ultrabeat pattern you've programmed in the tracks window and you want to do a slow eq change. Have a look under the Ultrabeat instrument in its channel strip. See the thing that says "READ" in a green box? Change it to "latch".
Now, open your eq plugin and hit the spacebar to start your UB pattern playing. As it plays, move the parameter you want to change in the eq window.  Hit stop. Change automation mode back to "Read". A little yellow icon should come on in the Inspector area of the Tracks window next to your Ultrabeat instrument. That's showing that the automation is turned on.
Now, magnify your view in the vertical plane (tool for this in the top left hand corner of your tracks window) until you can see the automation stuff appear below the representation of the midi notes in your Ultrabeat pattern. There should be a pull-down there that will show what you've just put in with automation. You now use that info to edit what you want the eq to do.
That was a bit long-winded, I know...but you only have to learn the procedure of putting in automation once because it works pretty much identically for any automation function within LPX.

  • Enterprise Manager 11g Sybase Plugin architecture question

    Hi,
have successfully installed and configured Grid 11g on RedHat Enterprise 5.5. Deployed and configured agents to solaris and linux environments..so far so good.
However, we're going to test the Sybase ASE plugin to monitor ASE with EM. My question is a simple one and I think I know the answer but I'd like to see what you guys think of this.
We'd like to go with a simple centralised agent rather than one agent/plugin per sybase machine, atleast for the tests. No doubt there may be pro's (first one clearly being one of a single point of failure - welll we can live with this for now) to this approach. My instinct is to install the oracle agent/plugin on a machine other than the grid machines itself, however the question arose - why not install the ASE plugin on the grid infrastructure machine agents themselves? Pros and cons?
The architecture we have currently : repository database configured to failover between 2 redhat boxes. 2 OMS running 1 on each of these boxes configured behind SLB using nfs based shared upload directory. One 'physical agent' running on each box. Simple for now. But I have the feeling , given that the Sybase servers will communicate or be interrogated via the sybase plugin directly to the grid infrastructure machines placing load etc on them , and in case of problems might interfere with the healthy running of the grid. Or am I being over cautious?

well I have followed the common sense approach and avoided the potential problem by installing on a remote server and configuring the plugin on this.
Seems to be working fine and keeps the install base clean..

  • If you need help quickly... Guideline for posting an effective question.

Whenever you have a question that you would like answered, do pose that question effectively.
First, do not assume that because you have tried many, many times that your question is understood by someone else. What is obvious to you may not be for another. So please state in a very detailed and structured way what steps you have taken to cause your problem, how you can replicate this problem, under what circumstances on what hardware/software.
The fact that you have nearly given up because of your problem does not mean that someone else can readily understand this problem. When you go to your doctor and say: "I have a pain in my stomach" he will ask you a lot of questions. Same applies here. Your doctor may need to know about any medication you have taken, your blood pressure, history, etc. If you want help, be as PRECISE and ACCURATE as possible.
Second, this is a USER TO USER forum. So ranting will not help. What may help is a STRUCTURED approach to describing the problem you have.
Third, do a thorough search of posts here, on other fora and with Google before repeating what has been asked a thousand times and has worn out the patience of regulars here, who have answered your question a dozen times already. Use the FAQ and the Wiki to find answers to questions that have been posed and answered repeatedly. Do not assume you are unique with your problem. Well, you are unique, the problem you have most likely is not.
Fourth, realize that even though it may be highly frustrating to you to not be able to solve YOUR problem, by posting your question here, you are dependent on fellow editors to help you on their free time without compensation, so bear with them to help identify what EXACTLY is your problem. If you lack that decency, you may forfeit their help, so why did you come here?
Fifth, consider your work flow in light of the purpose of Premiere, an editing package. If you have problems with rotoscoping, programming with APL, spreadsheets in general, word processing on a mobile phone, importing Panda bears into a local zoo, feeding nearly distinct whales in the Alps, or anything far removed from the purpose of PP, you may be better off in posting your question elsewhere.
    Last:
Everybody has to learn, has the right to ask questions and be helped.
If everybody has the decency to pose their urgent, life threatening or other questions in a detailed, structured and comprehensible way, it will vastly improve the chances of speedy and helpful replies, without the need for sarcasm, bundles of to-and-fro posts without meaningful help, just wasting bandwidth.
I know I have been rightly accused of such behavior, which was the result of sheer frustration with absolutely meaningless and often pointless questions without details, structure and the like. Maybe this can be a general guideline for posters on how to ask questions, in addition to Eddie's links and How to ask questions the smart way
The most frustrating issues one can encounter are hangs, BSOD's (blue screens of death), system errors and other cases of seemingly random erros that require rebooting, restarting or similar actions, only to be confronted with the next hang, BSOD or system crash.
These errors are often difficult to locate, due to the large variety of systems, components and driver or software versions in use. This is often further aggravated by sheer lack of expertise, understanding of what needs to be communicated in order for others to help solve the issue at hand. And that list is very long.
So, in order to make it a bit simpler for the average user who encounters these problems, follow the following steps when posting a problem:
    1. Clearly describe the main problem in the topic, but be brief. Not so brief as to only say: "Help!" or "URGENT" or another meaningless statement but get to the point, like: "PP crashes on opening, requiring a reboot" or "Using DL the system hangs upon return to PP". You get the point.
    2. Briefly describe your hardware, software, OS and versions in use, including disk setup, video card and driver versions, etc.
    3. Describe source material, including codec (not AVI, which is not a codec), project settings and other relevant info.
    4. Describe as accurately as possible what you did, what steps you took, what happened at what moment and what you did to try to resolve it.
    5. Go to Start/Run, type in DXDIAG, enter and save all information to a TXT file. Include a link to that file in your post.
    6. Go to Start/Run, type in MSINFO32 (or similar for 64 bit OS), enter and save the results as a .NFO file. Include a link to that file in your post.
    7. Download Process Explorer , and either post a screen shot or a link to the results.
    8. Make a screen shot of the results of SpeedFan or HW Monitor and include that in your post.
When you perform these basic steps, you avoid endless questions about your system and people may be able to help you faster.
If you feel up to it, take a look at The Case of the Unexplained to start your own troubleshooting.
Hope this helps to post more meaningful questions and get an answer much quicker.

  • Video effect question

is there any way to do the go to white effect. i'm not talking the dip to/from color or whatever. the effect i'm looking for is more like a key that goes to white than a just a color flash. the bloom filter sort of does it but you have to apply the filter to both the out-going and in-coming scenes. it would be more effective if there was a transition instead of 2 filters. thanks.

  • VOCAL EFFECT QUESTION

Can anyone help me figure out how to get the effect used on that e-40 featuring t-pain "u and dat" song? It's the electronic sounding effect on t-pain's voice while he's singing. I think Cher andd a bunch of other artists have used it before. I'd really appreciate some direction in how to be able to do this on Garageband. Thanks in advance.

I don't know the song - but the "Cher effect" (in "Believe") is the result of extreme auto-tuning, i.e. pitch-shifting the voice to the nearest half-tone. Using GB's pitch-correction (one of the sliders in the editor window) gives you an idea of it, but I never got a really extreme effect with it. Autotune is a plugin that you can buy, it comes for around 400 $.

  • Plugin dev questions about chart

    I'm develping EM plugin.
    I have 3 questions now.
    Would you please help me?
    1. Can I make a combo box(drop down) ?
I'm trying to send the argument using select box(drop-down) to draw a chart.
    2. Can I create chart dynamically?
I have to create charts dynamically by input parameter. It may 2 or 3.
    3. Is it possible to make 2 kinds of data on one chart ?
I want to display 2 kinds of data using time series chart.
(For example, Player A's score, Player B's score.)

What documentation source are you using to develop your EM plugin? In regards to the UI questions you are asking, are you using the EM Reports (information publisher) framework? Your first 2 questions would not be possible to accomplish using the 11.1 extensibility framework. You should be able to accomplish your question #3 with the reporting framework or the Homepage Charts capabilities. Future releases of EM (EM 12.X+) extensibility framework should allow for EM plugin integrators to write custom UI (as you are asking about with your questions).

  • Lighting Effect Question

I recently installed PS CC and am working with some images that I'd like to apply lighting effects to. In particular I'm trying to apply the spot light effect. I see all the appropriate controls and can manipulate the individual characteristics. However, the lighting effect appears to be getting applied to the entire image (i.e., not focused to the spot outline). The effect is like a complete layer blend as opposed to a targetted effect.
I've confirmed that "use graphics processor" is selected and that the image is 8-bit RGB. This is on Win7 64-bit (Dell Core i7 w/8GB RAM and a fast internal HD).
    Anyone have any ideas here?
    Thanks!

  • Nattress Film Effect Question

    Dear all,
I really like the effects in http://nattress.com/Products/filmeffects/FilmEffectsImages/largeHDVFilmEffectsIm ages.htm
What are the presets or settings to achieve that effect?
Is there a more detailed documentation on each of the filters along with examples? I recently purchased the plugin, but besides from a few easy-to-understand presets, I am quite lost.
    Thank you,
    Drinking Water

G RGB Mixer was used for the colours and gamma adjustments, and G Vignette was used to blend the edges off to black.

  • Channel Changing effect question.

Question for the professionals:  How can I create a “channel change” with distortion, etc. effect on Final Cut Pro?  I need it for a sketch so with each segue, or scene, it looks like the “viewer” changed the channel.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Matt

Why not just follow Christina's original response - you should be able to make what you need...

  • Effects questions for hiphop

i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for some vst pluggins for reverb and delay to use in hiphop.i wanna ad some space to the vocal so itll sound more professional. and if you have any suggested type of settings. i kno i could jus play around with it, but im looking for a good starting point. im not looking to add tons of reverb or delay but i need an idea to get a nice sound with them without overdoing it. also if anyone has any suggestions for cleaning vocals to get them to sound crystal clear. i get good quality, i jus want to bring the vocal out to get the most of it. i already kno people will say eq n blah blah...but im looking for a more in depth  solution. as far as the vsts are concerned, ive been using the stock effects in audition since ive had them, and im actually pretty bored and know theres gotta more professional ones that sound better. if needed i could post a sample of an audio vocal to get an idea of what it sounds like. thanks in advance!

Well, in my opinion, if you can't do it with the effects in Audition then you are going to struggle to find anything that will do it.  Expensive VST plugins such as those from Izotope or Waves may give slightly better results but I don't think they will help you much unless you can get the basics right first using what you have in Audition. There is no magic wand that you can wave over your audio, you have to work at it and understand what is going on with it and find out what you really need to make it sound better. Often it is all down to the original recording of the vocals in the first place, the mic used, the audio interface and acoustics of the recording space.

  • Working with plugin effects

    Hi
I've recorded a guitarrrif and want to add some wahwaheffects to that riff. So i've selected wahwah as a plugin but i don't know what to do next. I want to replay what i've recorded and use a wahwah over it but is this possible? So first recording something and afterwards adding a wahwaheffect or any other effect?
    Thnx.

    Yes, it is.
