Plugin for Director; Work Around

Hello,
Is there any Macromedia Director Plugin for LabView available?? Are
there any programs, work arounds out to use LabView for educational
purposes? What I mean is letting run the LabView program in the
background (only calculating values) and to access it from outside
(in/output) through Director, Authorware or other programs.

Hello Tobias,
You can definitely use the Macromedia Flash or similar softwares inside LabVIEW, that will help you in doing some work in the background and play the flash movie in the foreground. One basic example showing Flash inside of LabVIEW is Labview with Macromedia Flash
Also, there is a another strong feature in LabVIEW that might be of help is creating DLL's that you can call in any other program to utilize some of the powerful functions of LabVIEW.

Firefox plugin reloading bug work around

Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone has a work around for the firefox bug referenced here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90268
The bug consists of how firefox handles plugins such as flash. Firefox loses the flash objects current state when navigated away from the object. IE does not lose the current state.
For instance, if a user clicked on state in a flash map then clicked another tab, then went back to the map tab; in IE the state selected would still be active, but in firefox, it will reload the flash file bringing it to its begining state - say the entire usa.
My scenario:
jquery tabs
flash content in three of the tabs
when you navigate away from a tab that has flash in it and then goes back, it reloads the flash from the beginning rather than remember it's last state.
php and asp are not options
One of the flash items is an interactive map that my developers made and it is crucial for the map to retain it's current state upon leaving and going back to the tab.
I read of a possible work around (from the bug post above - post #71) that states:
"Another workaround which might help some people in some cases:
Try making your flash movie a direct child of document.documentElement (ie the
<html> element)"
But i'm not much of a coder so i have no idea how write this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Replacing plasma config does work. Wish I could remember where I expect things to be, though. (That's what I don't like - configuring it isn't very time-consuming if only I can remember what I prefer. Unfortunately, unless I know it is going to break, I don't think to write a description for myself!)

Kff.where returns 'null' and causes sql error - looking for a work around

I am using BI 5.6.3 in EBS (11.5.10.2)
I have created a kff.where as follows:

Everything works fine, as long as I have a values for the p_location_low and p_location_high. However, this is a parameter that comes in from a concurrent program and is optional. When the user doesn't pick a value, :p_location_low is the concatenated delimiters for the location '..'.
When this runs, the kff.where is returning null which causes 'Invalid Relational Operation error' because 'AND null' is not valid.
Warning in the log is :[091910_025232517][][STATEMENT] !!Warning: FlexAPI returns null for 'x_where_expression' lexical definition...
Does anyone have a workaround for this since making the parameter required is not an option for my users?

In your SQL*Plus session, make sure you
SQL> set define offbefore trying to create the Java stored procedure. SQL*Plus assumes that any string that begins with an & is a substitution variable unless you tell it that you have no substitution variables (via set define off).

Ruby rails: script/plugin discover problem [worked around]

I have a working Ruby on Rails environment on my Arch system. Recently tried to get the plugins working which according to the Rails wiki is done by typing:
script/plugin discover
This unfortunately gives me an error that it can't find /usr/bin/ruby1.8 In Arch ruby is in /usr/bin/ruby
Can this be fixed? I'm pretty sure that Ubuntu/Debian use /usr/bin/ruby1.8 which is why it's defaulting here.

I have a blacklisted graphic driver (radeon 1950x pro) with no available update -- suggetions for a work around?

I gave a blacklisted graphics driver for radeon 1950x pro (ATI) that has no available update. From what I can tell, because my driver version are not supported I am suffering from 'glitchy' performances, especially in flash-based websites (eg: the game Zuma Blitz suffers highly from what appears frame-rate issues).
Any suggestions?

Some websites are 'glitchy' so there must be some impact vs the two versions. For example, a simple flash game like Zuma Blitz suffers from what appears to be frame-rate issues. While 3.6.x does not.
Youtube even is glitchy now. Google's maps. Ect.
And before it's suggested, I have updated flash to double check that wasn't the issue.

Cannot Backup Encrypted Sony Xperia Z1 - Looking For a Work Around

Hi all,
Looking for help on how to backup my encrypted Sony Xperia Z1.
When i attempt to use Sony PC Companion, i get a backup error due to the encryption.
Anyone have a suggestion on an alternate means of backup?

I have same issue with Z3 compact. So I have approached Sony support and they clain that this is not an error!.
Obviously this is an error, hence I am escalating this at Sony to provide procedure to backup encrypted phone.
There are a number of 3.party solutions available (even wo rooting), however these are of course not supported by Sony.
Currently I am using holo backup as a WA for making backup. This is *not* a complete backup, however it captures all user data.

I upgraded to GB 10.0.2. But now its sandboxing 3rd pty apps and plugins can't connect to license manager. a Work around?

I had been using Garageband and downloaded some 3rd party apps which worked great, among them was BFD ECO. I just upgraded my iMac to Yosemite and so I could upgrade to the Garageband 10.0.02. Great program, however, BFD ECO no only opens in plugin window in an error message that says, " Can't open BFD ECO because can not locate the license manager. I contacted BFD who told me that the license manager can't connect to garageband because its being "sandboxed", due to changes in the new GB and to contact Apple for a work around. URGENT - work around for Epson printer driver!

I'm urgently looking for a work around for Epson Stylus Office TX600FW printer/scanner multifunction drivers (not currently available) for Lion OS 10.7. Any options avaiable?

I'm not sure if this will work, in fact I have my doubts, but it's worth a try if there's no other option - I suspect you've already thought of this though...
I wondered about trying this myself - can you re-install SL on an external, if you don't have a backup copy of it still around, and download the Epson drivers to that, move the docs that you need to print and work from there?

I know this will be quite a change of tone from what you've been getting so far here in this thread, but I want to start of by saying thank you, for all the help and guidance you have been and are giving us. I greatly appreciate it.
I have a question on apps folder structure upon restoring from backup. I will share with you the chronology of events, what I understand, what I hope to achieve and what ways I think this can be achieved. By sharing with you my whole thought process, I hope to get your critique and correction if at any part I have misconstrued the logic. Thanks in advance again.
I have 2 iPhone and 2 iPads. When I bought my first iPad (brand new) I plugged it into iTunes and did a restore from my iPhone 4G backup. I believe I selected "Sync Apps" (though I can't confirm now cause I formatted my computer already) because all my iPhone apps were synced to my iPad - which is great. Q1 --> Because I restored from my iPhone 4G backup which presumably had "Sync Apps" checked, I believe my first iPad's iTunes syncing options also had "Sync Apps" checked as well - reason is that all the "Music", "Movies" and "Photos" options were also transferred over. Am I correct? Thanks
So for the rest of the post, I will assume the iTunes setting for my 1st iPad was set to "Sync Apps" (until you correct me otherwise).
My computer was running a bit crappy --> Windows, I know haha, so I formatted it. I did not save my backup file to an external harddrive and then put it back into the %appdata% iTunes Mobile Sync folder. Therefore after formatting, I plugged my iPad into the new computer and did a backup. Because (if I remember correctly, - (Q2) please correct me if I am wrong) it sensed my iPad as connect to a previous iTunes it asked me if I wanted to disconnect from the previous iTunes and sync to this one cause I do know that we can only sync to one iTunes at a time. I had to re-configure all my "Music, "Movies" and "Photo" settings again as this was a new iTunes configuration - which I do understand. Q3 - if I have a new iTunes because I formatted my computer, but I ported over the old backup file and restored my iPad from there, would it still be considered a new iTunes link and thus I have to configure everything again? I don't think so cause the backup contains all the settings; what I think will happen is that I will just be asked if I want to disconnect from the old iTunes and connect to the new one, and all my settings will be restored from the backup.
So I synced my "Music", "Movies", "Photos" and also "Info" and "Podcasts" (I don't use "TV Shows") and got it all set up. Only thing I didn't tick was the apps - perhaps cause I didn't take the time to understand it previously owing to the fact that I didn't need to then ha, but now I do!! So after everything was synced, I did a backup. After reading your thread, and the link you gave, I understood that I have to transfer purchases from my iPad because my iTunes had no apps - as it is a "new iTunes". So I transferred my purchases.
Next I joined my 2nd iPad (second hand iPad) and did a "Restore" (If you are experiencing problems with you iPad, you can restore its original settings by clicking Restore.) to wipe out apps etc that the previous owner had. Q4 - what is the difference betwixt the "Restore" in iTunes below "Check for Update" and the iPad's "Settings" --> "General" --> "Reset" --> "Erase All Content and Settings"? I believe (with some experiments ha) the "Restore" in the iTunes will give me a "brand new" iPad but I don't know what is the difference betwixt that and "Erase All Content and Settings".
I then restored from the backup of my 1st iPad. But remember just now I mentioned that I did not tick the "Sync Apps" in my 1st iPad's settings? So after the restore was done, I had all my "Music", "Movies" and "Photos" + "Podcasts", "Info", everything but my "Apps" --> because I didn't tick "Sync Apps" in my backup. So my 2nd iPad had everything but "Apps".
Now I need to rectify that and create a mirror of my 1st iPad. I don't jailbreak my iOS devices and all my Apps are bona fide purchases with my hard earned money . Here is the solution I thought of and the single problem I face.
Solution: On my 2nd iPad, click Sync Apps, select all the apps I want in my iPad, and then click Apply. Then I restore the backup of my 1st iPad. That restores all my app data and very importantly, my folder structure (cause when we have a lot of apps and we organise it all into folders, re-putting them back into folders can be quite time consuming; quite the antithesis of computing in the first place).
This truly give me a mirror image of my 1st iPad (please kindly correct me if I am wrong). The only problem is that, the Sync Apps is still not ticked. Q5 - Is there any benefits of my ticking "Sync Apps" vis a vis doing it this work around method? (Update: I thought of something - "Sync Apps" would allow all the apps on my iPad to be automatically synced to my iTunes but for my work around, I need to think of all the apps I want on my iPad and tick them. If it is for example 50 out of 50 apps, it's simple. But if it's 50 apps out of 150 apps in my iTunes then it would be a big headache. Any other benefits / costs?) My "File Sharing" is still working ok - in the sense I can still transfer data to my apps without having it synced (thankfully it is not sync dependent - but please once again correct me if I am wrong).
The reason why I do this work around method is because if I were to click "Sync Apps", it would get all my apps into my iPad but it would destroy all my folder structures. Q6 - however if I do this "Sync Apps", when the apps are transferred to my iPad I would have all the app data on my iPad already right? Because I postulate it work on a n-tier abstraction separating data from the app. I think this is true because previously I restored from backup and had some apps missing, but when I downloaded the app all the data was "magically" there.
Q7 - is there any way to maintain apps folder structures when I am syncing to a new iTunes instead of the work around I have thought of?
Q8 - and last question haha. My iPad has 10 3rd party apps now for example. If I backup now, it would backup the app data of all 10 apps (3rd party apps - notation left out for simplicity sake moving forward). However if I deleted 2 apps from these 10 apps, then if I backup the 8 apps, would it mean that the backup no longer stores the 2 deleted apps's app data? I think that would be the case but I would just like to confirm.

P.S. does iTunes lag quite a bit in Windows (if you are a Windows user)? For me it's not the quickest programme around; can get quite laggy sometimes, on my newly formatted and empty 64 bit 4GB Dual Core 2.4 GHz HP TX2 and Acer computer as well

Portrait Printing Problem Work-Around

One of the problems that appeared with iCal 2 (I'm using 2.0.2 for this work-around) in Tiger is the inability to print Month and Week views in Portrait mode. iCal automatically rotates the paper to landscape mode, even if you create custom paper sizes opposite to the customary sizes (ie: 11.00" wide by 8.50" tall should print sideways in Portrait mode).
In attempting to outsmart iCal, I created a custom paper size that was "square" - 8.50" x 8.50". Unfortunately, it printed on 8.50" from left to right in Landscape mode, leaving a 2.5" white spot on the right side of the still wrongly oriented paper.
However, on the next attempt to print, with the "square" paper selected, I found that selecting "US Letter" will give you the desired Portrait mode. This works for an size paper, and works with after selecting an custom made "square" paper size.
Here's the step-by-step process:
1. Open any application (other than iCal) with a "Page Setup..." option in the File Menu (Safari works just fine) and select "Page Setup...".
2. Select the "Paper Size" pop-up and choose "Manage Custom Sizes..."
3. Click the "+" button in the bottom left corner to create a new Custom Page Size.
4. Name your new size by double-clicking on "Untitled" and typing. I called my page size "iCal Square".
5. Now set the Page Size to 8.50 Width and 8.50 Height. Any two identical sizes seem to work, and you can use more familiar sizes for non-US papers.
6. Select "OK" to close the Custom Page Sizes dialog, then select "OK" to close the Page Setup dialog.
7. Now open iCal. (Note: If iCal is already open, Quit iCal and open it again. This seems to help the print dialog recognize your new or modified Custom Page Sizes.)
8. Choose "Print..." from the File Menu. Select your new Custom Page Size from the "Paper" pop-up. It should appear at the bottom of the list.
9. Press "Cancel" to close the dialog without printing.
10. Now choose "Print..." again. Your "Paper" selection should be the Custom Page Size you selected ("iCal Square" in my case). Re-selecting US Letter (or your preferred paper size) will give you a Portrait version of the Month or Week view. (Note: If you select Day or List view, it will revert back to Landscape when you re-select Month or Week.)
Since iCal defaults to Month View, this work-around does not work to create Landscape versions of the List and Day views.
Until Apple adds Page Setup back into iCal, this two-step work-around should do the trick.

It has been pointed out at www.macosxhints.com in response to my post there that you can manually override the iCal settings by navigating to the iCal application, Ctrl/Right-Click and choose Show Package Contents, then navigate to Resources/monthview.aplmodel/Contents/Resources/model.xml/
I would recommend backing up the file before trying anything. But it is possible with TextEdit to simply modify the 2nd line of the file:

You can change the orientation setting to "portrait" or simply delete the the orientation text and iCal will default to Portrait Mode without my previous workaround.
Again, back-up the file first before you mess around too much.

Any work around ideas to get Shake to work with Yosemite?

Alright, now that I have confirmed the sad news about Shake on Yosemite: Does shake still work with OS X Yosemite? I imagine I will eventually need to upgrade for the sake of my other software... Any ideas for a work around for when the day comes? Any cheeper options than running Mavericks in Parallels (Seeing as I would have to buy it)?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

Static LOV work around

Hi,
I have a list of items (static) that I need to input into LOV. The list is so long and it will be used by many LOVs. I wonder if there is a way that I can use SQL statement to accomplish this?
My client doesn't want to create a look up table in their database. I can only use something termporary.
Can I use PLSQL table? And use a function to return the value of PLSQL table, then select the function in a SQL statement?
Any suggestions?

Not trying to get you fired here or anything, but who knows more about a database... you or your client? If the LOV is going to be used many times, especially if it could change, or just because there are a lot of values to maintain, then a lookup table is by far the best way to go.
As for your work around question. Yes, it is possible to create a table in a PL/SQL block, populate it, select from it, and then drop it.
However, your initial thought is the better way to go.

FaceTime expired device certificate work around

I'm looking for a work around for FaceTime expired device certificate.I have iPad 2nd Gen and an iPod 4th Gen both have IOS 5 that use Google Map. If I upgrade my IOS, Google Maps will be uninstalled. Looking at the Apple forums the only way to fix this is to upgrade my IOS, this is not going to happen. it is stating to look like Android might be a better solution. Any help would be great.
If only Apply and Google could get along.

Designjet 250c and Vista? Driver or work around?

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I am looking for a work around for Vista so I can print directly to my designjet 250c. It works on XP and everything below but the driver was discontinued for Vista. I was wondering if anyone was aware of a program which could translate the print information or if anyone created a DIY driver. Thanks for any help in advance.
