Pluging in headphones stops the Apogee Jam working in garage band

Just got Apagee Jam adapter and plugged it in to iPad2 running garage band. All is well till i plug the headphones in and it seems to disable the jam and default back to the iPad2 mic. From then on i can't get it back and the sound dies. All i can do is reboot the iPad to fix it!
Very new to Mac......Help!

"needed", no. there are both 1/4" as well as XLR jacks, as you can see in the pics. you can use either.

Can the Apogee Jam be used for vocals?

I am looking at the Apogee Jam for a simple interface for my guitar... I would like to record some vocals and have an XLR ro 1/4" adapter. Does anyone know if I could plug this into the Apgogee Interface?
I would like to assume the answert is yes, but I am wondering if would cause issues as the Jam was intended for guitar and bass.

Could this work, sure the Jam just takes a analog signal and turns it into a digital signal.
Will it work, all depends on the mic you use.. I'm guessing with most microphones the signal will be very week and may not give you good results.
You should get a interface that is designed for both instrument and mic. And if you get a two channel interface you could record both guitar and vocal to their own track at the same time.

Can I use mainstage 2 with the apogee jam?

I've been looking at getting Logic Pro with mainstage then realised I can get mainstage as a stand alone.
Most of the videos I have watched online for it though people are using the Apogee Gio but can it be used with the apogee jam? I want to use it for the looping track with a guitar mainly and wondered if this could be done with the jam as the gio is about £270 to buy.
I would be using it on an iMac so don't know if that makes any difference either?

Yup, the Jam is just a singel channel audio interface (actually- audio in only).
So if you want to simply record your guitar- or just use MS2 as an effects unit- you are good to go.
The GIO would be more overkill- but does give you pedals that work out of the box with Logic/MS.

Usually this is indicative of a bad headphone jack on the machine end, especially if you've tried three different pairs of known good headphones. Unfortunately there's not much you do to resolve the issue, externally. Considering it's a new machine no sense trying to fix something and making it work. I'd reach out to AppleCare for service on the unit and if it's brand new, possibly arrange a replacement unit.

I just transferred my garage band songs from my iphone to my mac. Why won't garage band open them? I just upgraded to ilife '11. Still won't work. Garage Band cannot open files in the "data" format.. Any Ideas?

Are you trying to transfer the GarageBand projects or the rendered audio files? What version of GarageBand do you have on your iPhone?
I do not think you can share your GarageBand projects from your iPhone to GarageBand on your Mac, unless you have iCloud, afaik, only the audio files.
How did you transfer the song?

I believe the HP 2840 can be connected either via Ethernet or USB. If connected to the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) by USB, only the basic printing functions will be shared out; the scanning, faxing, copying features are not supported.

A drummer track follows the tempo of the project automatically. You can switch between different drummers, and change the drum pattern of the regions in the Track editor by dragging the puck around between simple or complex, louder soft.
But you can only adjust the beats per minute of the whole project, not for the drummer track individually.
If you want to change only the tempo of the drum track, you have to use a work around, for example export your finished drum track as an audio file with a different tempo and reimport it.
silence all tracks but the drummer track.
set the tempo to a different value in the LED display.
Share the audio track to the disk.
Reset the tempo to normal and unsilence your other tracks.
Reimport the drum track.

I had the same problem, try this:
In your home directory, go to Library/Caches/
(make sure you are in the library in your home directory, not the library at the root level of the hard disk).
and remove this file: com.apple.audiounits.cache
You can drag it to your desktop if you like or throw it away.
Then relaunch garage band, it will rescan all audio units.
If you have the Kontakt audio unit installed in YourHardDiskName/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components it should recognize it and include it in your list. You can toss that cache file any time you want Garage Band to rescan your audio units.
I had a problem with Kontakt on an upgrade that broke it, GarageBand saw it and put Kontakt on its list of broken Audio Units, it would never load it after that... after a new rescan, it was fine.

Still new to Logic Pro. Got the Soundtrack Pro when i bought the Logic Studio. am i to understand that this app will not work, while Garage Band is present on my iMac?
if this is true, i'd welcome any suggestions. do i have to delete GarageBand on current machine which has Logic Pro?

My MacPro w/ OSX 10.6.8 runs GarageBand, SoundtrackPro and Logic 9 (Express) without issues.
Everything was installed fresh - ie no overwrite OS upgrades and no app version overwrite upgrades.
Just so we are clear - an UPGRADE would be from OSX 5 to 6 or from Logic 8 to 9 and involves a purchase. UPDATES are those decimal increments - 10.6.7 to 10.6.8 or Logic 9.1.3 to 9.1.6 that are free.
Sometimes the sequence of installs can make a difference.

I'm trying to upload the beat I made on garage band to Reverbnation. But Reverbnation says my upload has to be a mp3. How do I turn the beat I made a mp3?

With your project open, click the Share tab and choose 'Send Song to iTunes...'
You will be presented with a menu to fill out. In the Compress option choose MP3.
Once done the song will be in iTunes. When uploading you have to choose from your playlist that the song is in.

Where do I find the "Puzzle Piece" icon in garage band for Ipad 2?

I Recently downloaded the "Garage Band" app for my Ipad 2. I began a new song, with two sections - section A and section b. Every time I try and play the song, it only plays one section, depending on which one I scrole to.
I Looked up this problem on the internet and saw that someone had a similar problem. I eventually found instruction to click on the "Puzzle Piece" icon in Garage Band and that there would be instruction to do so from that icon. Problem is, I cannot find the icon in this app, any where.
Can anyone describe where I can find this "Puzzle Piece" icon, either with words or a screen shot Of the app? Thanks!

as always, this is a matter of where we are with development. Ramp up is a phase where we allow customers to work productively with the software, but be sure we have only limited number of users to be able to handle any upcoming incidents.
Once we're sure enough, we announce unrestricted availability. Usually the period is about 6 month. This means that the planned general availability is around end of this year.
Please be aware of the little word planned. This means that SAP could also shift the date to whatever seems appropriate.

Could the OS X Lion USB drive stop the bluetooth from working?

I just purchased the OS X Line USB thumb drive. Plugged it into my computer and my bluetooth quite/died. The mouse still works, I paired it with another computer to test. The bluetooth icon in the top status bar has a zigzag line through it and when clicked on, it says it's "Not Available". What would cause this to happen? And how can I fix it?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

And it would seem your Mac is new enough to be under AppleCare or Extended AppleCare, right?
In that case, I'd call Apple and start a ticket with them.
From what you describe, that sounds like exactly what happened.

Computer Interface (That works) for Garage band?

Hello All...I am new to G/B-I am wanting to record (sperate) tracks (at the same time) in G/B. I think 8 channels would be perfect, that way I can record varoius drums, a bass and a guitar at the same time. Then I can record other real instruments later, one at a time. I have seen a slew of computer interfaces to acomplish this task, however i would like to purchase one that (I know) (will work) well in garage band. Could any of you vetren G/B producers advise me as to what 8 channel audio interface you use with G/B (that works well) for you? And should it be a firewire or USB based one? I tried a friends (a 8 channel Behringer mixer with a USB, but i could get my mac to recongnize the mixer?
