Plugins for viewing other file types?

Hi. I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a plugin for Bridge that would allow me to preview other file types, specifically Blender 3D .blend files.
Windows Explorer can preview them, but not Bridge. And Bridge can preview all of the AI and PSD files that Windows Explorer can't.
I'd like to use bridge since it is faster for previewing and changing meta data, etc.
Any help is appreciated.

If the files don't show in the content window they probably are not supported. First try a purge cache for folder using the tool menu / cache/ purge cache for folder and if still no luck check the file type associations in the Bridge preferences.
If your file is not on the list the only option is to add a feature request somewhere on this forum. The more people want it the bigger chance it will get realized sometime.
I'm not aware of any plug in to add file types to Bridge. Don't think scripts can solve this but you could also visit the scripting forum for this.

Is there a 2GB file size limit on saving a custom format plugin for a custom file type?

I have resolved issues on reading files > 2GB. Now when I save files >2GB, I get a popup that states there is a 2GB limit for plugins.
I an using photoshop CS6 on a MAC OSX 10.9 with 16 GB RAM.
The custom file type is what should be selected when the Save As Dialogue is visible.
I looked for a setting in the Photoshop preferences for Files & setting to PSB, but did not see one.
I tried modifying values in the PiPL for formatmaxSize and PluginMaxSize, but the only values that the code will compile in with:
32767 & 2147483647.
I saw a posting in previous years that custom plugins were limited to 2 GB.

I would like to rephrase my question, now that I have worked a little more with my code.
Is there a 2GB limit per channel and 4GB limit for total file size for a custom photoshop format plugin?

Creative Cloud Share for all other file types

Can we use the storage like Dropbox? That is, sharing Word documents and any other things between teams and clients? Or is it restricted to Adobe created files only.

I believe people who use Adobe Creative Cloud, are the same professionals who make/ generate those audio files - mp4 in their studio.
Is Adobe saying Audition software fails to integrate into cloud?

When I click on a file, the downloads box opens and depending on the setting, it auto saves the file or asks me where to save the file. What if I don't want to save it anywhere, I just want to view it and close it?

Why did FP14.0.0.179, Active X, install for IE11, but not the FP plugin for "all other browsers"?

When I discovered that I had Flash Player version 14.0.0.145, both as a plugin for "all other browsers", i. e., Mozilla Firefox, and the "Active X" files for Internet Explorer 11, I decided to do a "clean install". I went about the procedure, using the Adobe website instructions. I uninstalled the program, and checked my Windows Explorer, as per Adobe, to make sure all of the correct files had been deleted. The files were gone, and so I proceeded with the install, from the 3-step,"install now" Adobe page, (after closing IE), then checked to be certain ALL of the right files installed. They were all in my SysWow64 / Macromed / Flash folder, but only the Active X files necessary for FP to run in IE, but no "plugin" files at all were there for "all other browsers", and I also use Firefox, version 30, every now and then.
SORRY, I have an Acer laptop, with a single core, ( I suppose you call it that, cuz it's not a dual core ) Intel Celeron CPU, Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1. As you already know, I have both IE11, and Firefox 30.
Before the update, I had, in my Flash folder, both the "Active X", AND the "plugin" files, but now have only the Active X. From the "problems with installation" Adobe page, I clicked on the install for all other browsers link, next to the bottom of the page. The dialog box then appeared, asking if I wanted to go ahead with the "plugin" download...that files of this type could harm my computer. I had already seen, in the EXAMPLE, that the same dialog would pop up, and to go ahead and click on "run". I did that, and nothing happened. Nothing at all. I attempted the same steps three times, and got the same result. So, now, I have the latest version of FP for Internet Explorer, but no Flash at all for Firefox.
What to do?

How to define the application to use for opening each file type (pdf, jpg,...)

I installed an external application, and this new application has been configured by defect that it will be used to open all files with extensions like jpg, pdf, etc...
I want to revert this situation and define again the proper application I want to use for opening each file type. How can I do this in Lion?

Pick a representative file.
Get info. (Command-i)
There you will see a place "Open with" where you can select the application for that file.
Hit the "Change all..." button to do this for all files of this type.

For a variety of reasons, mostly related to security, the iOS operating system limits what can be done with respect to file uploading and downloading. But whenever you encounter a limitation like this always think, "There must be an app for this."

Spotlight/Finder Doesn't Search In ASP and other file types?

.asp and .c file types are nothing more than .txt files with different extentions..
Am I correct in thinking that Spotlight doesn't search inside these files? I have a folder full of asp files and spotlight doesn't seem to find anything when I type text that I know is inside one (as a test)
It does appear to search INSIDE .html files in the same folder.. Can you add different file extentions that spotlight will search into?
If not, then "Spotlight" is much ado about nothing as google desktop search, X1 and the msn desktop search (Windows) released years ago search inside ALL files..

Spotlight makes a content index for files using mdimporter, and that process depends on mdimporter modules for the specific file type. Thus in /Library/Spotlight you will see a collection, such as Microsoft Office.mdimporter, of "extras" for special file types. There are also the built-in ones in /System/Library/Spotlight. If you installed Xcode/Developer Tools, there should be a SourceCode.mdimporter, which I imagine would index the asp and c files. If not, some people have modified it to also index php files, see this discussion:

Wow, thanks. That was extremely helpful, but I have a couple questions.
First, is there a way to make it print to CUPS without opening the default application for the particular file first? For example, I used a .docx file, and it had to open microsoft word to send the job the print. This makers it very unpredictable to decide how much time the automator application will need to pause. If that file were for example, and adobe illustrator file, it would take an incredible amount of time just for illustrator to open. I don't really anticipate needing to do this a whole lot with anything other than text files and standard image types, but is that the only way for those other files to print? I figured that since OS 10.6 can do a quick look preview on just about any file type I use, that the OS would be able to do this without the application actually opening, but it seems not to be the case. Just wondering.
The other issue is the only real problem, and it's one that I have had whenever I use automator to make PDFs. It always duplicates the job. So, I am getting a combined pdf, but it has the same file in there 2 or even 3 times.
In automator, I used:
get selected finder items
then
print finder items
I have verified that it is printing everything multiple times because I see them going into the CUPS folder twice. Then, the final PDF sometimes even has the same doc or image in it 3 times. I have always had this problem with automator and PDFs, any idea how to solve that?

how can I set a routing rule for a specific file type, for example for "pdf" or for "docx", for my content organizer?
As standard I can only choose for the rules the content type, name and title of the file uploaded.

How do I change which application is the (default) for a given file type?

For .pdf files, I have set the application behaviour to "Always Ask", because sometimes I want to open the pdf, sometimes I want to save it. So far so good.
Now, when I want to open the .pdf, I have added an application to the dropdown list, so now I have "Adobe Reader 9 (default)" and "okular".
The problem is this: I *never* open using Adobe Reader. I always want to use okular, but Adobe Reader always appears first on the list, as it is the 'default'. This means I always have to click on the dropdown and select "okular", i.e. an extra step every time I want to open a pdf.
How do I change which application is the default?

Yes, I know that. That was the first sentence of my question, but it is not the problem I have.

URL for viewing local files

I'd been using Browserlab successfully today, viewing local files from Dreamweaver CS5. I logged out and then returned later in the day and am now having problems as the Browserlab window is failing to automatically load the local file's URL in the box at the top of Browserlab screen (the URL box just stays blank. Can I manually input the local address and if so can someone advise the general format. I assume something like http://localhost/.... Obviously I will need to input my own file names, but just need the root URL/general format for viewing local files.

Thank you for your interest in BrowserLab. Please check to see if you have the BrowserLab web site open in another browser or browser tab. You should only have one instance of BrowserLab open at a time. You might also try restarting your browser (all instances) and Dreamweaver and if that doesn't work, the OS.
BrowserLab currently only allows you to specify local or firewalled URLs from Dreamweaver. Directly inputting a URL into the BrowserLab testing interface will test the page from the perspective of a person elsewhere on the Internet. Open the site you want to test in Dreamweaver LiveView, select "Local" in the BrowserLab Panel in Dreamweaver and click the Preview button.

Hi I am doing some ASP code tweaks on a CMS skin, and the extention ASCX is used, however when I load it, there are no hints available.
is there a way to add file extensions to the edge code so I can get hints for other file types than the usual HTM PHP JS etc. ?

Yes, Edge Code supports extensions. Here's an extension that will provide generic code hints just listing all the tokens in the current file: https://github.com/bigeyex/brackets-wordhint. It should work for basically any file type. This is similar to the simple hinting you get in editors like Sublime or TextMate. If you're looking for more language-aware code hints, your best bet is to use an ASP-specific IDE like Visual Studio instead.

ID does not load QXD files. There is a respective commercial third-party plug-in to that effect, but it's rather pricey and I'm not up to speed which versions of Quark and ID it supports and which features come over. Inquire in the ID forum.
