Plugins not Enabled

In the Plugin Manger the list of plugins that are available are greyed out but they are enabled. See screenshot.      If i attempt to use an export or publish plugin, the enabled plugins do not show up as an option for that task.
If i enable a plugin that is disbaled, i get the following error.
No idea what the reference to the upper right section means either.
When i click OK, i get the following error:
Anyone have any idea?

This sounds like quite a complicated setup that you try to achieve.
I don't know if there is someone around here that has the background and expertise to provide you with this information.
Note that the correct name is extensions.autoDisableScopes (see bug Bug 666437 and Bug 693698) and that this pref only has effect for extensions and not for plugins.<br />
Plugins are always found via a scan in known locations.

To initialize prefs it is best to do this via a mozilla.cfg file or via means like distribution.ini.

There is no need to include prefs like these that have an epoch time string as those will be created automatically when required (1273520281 is May 10 2010, so that is really old)
This value also makes no sense as it should be a time in seconds (the default of 43200 would be twice a day 86400/2)
*defaultPref("app.update.interval", 1273520281);
The CAPS prefs (capability.policy.*) are probably no longer supported and won't have effect, so you may want to reconsider which prefs that you really want to initialize.

firefox plays video, but no sound. when I type about:plugins in location bar, it shows the firefox default plugin is not enabled. When I look at my plugins, it says it is enabled. I have uninstalled 3.6 and re-installed with the same result. Why do I have no sound. Computer plays I-tunes and all other sounds, just no web browser sounds.

Glad you seem to have sorted things out.
The warning about the warranty is light hearted, I think at one stage it warned "here be dragons" but also intended to make us think as it warns that making changes may produce problems.

  • Camera Raw editing is not enabled - ACR5.4 Vista 64bit

When I use Bridge, and right click and select to open a raw file in Camera Raw, I get this message:
"Camera Raw editing is not enabled. Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature".
There is no problem in Bridge when opening a raw file in Camera Raw when just Open With (PS) or double-clicking
I have seen many have the same problem, and I have tried most of the hints found in forums, but no luck.
I running Windows Vista 64bit. Installed and activated Photoshop CS4 in the standard directories and installed ACR 5.4 manually as described by Adobe by copy the plugin files to folders:
    Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats\
    Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats\
There are no other files in this 2 directories.
I have tried purging cache, and have closed both Brigde and Photoshop and startet Bridge from Photoshop by using -file, -browse in Bridge. And still the same problem.
There are no errors in the files alm.log and amt.log in %temp% directory.
    Thanks for any help

I have just upgraded to Win 7 64bit and have had a similar problem with getting "Camera Raw editing is not enabled" in Bridge
I had installed CS4 as a trial whilst I tested that my install of Win 7 was OK
When I activated CS4 I was using CS4 64 bit and never got the "I have deactivated the software from another machine" question
I tried lost of things to get Camera Raw editing in Bridge and all failed.
When I tried CS4 32 bit it wanted to activate the software - it  asked the "I have deactivated the software from another machine" question and then rejected the activation as two PC were using the key.
I deactivated CS4 from the 64bit side and removed the key
Then I activated using CS4 32bit - all seems OK now
    Hope this works for you

Flash Player is pre-installed in Google Chrome (Windows7), but not enabled and it is also not there among the list of plug-ins.

As we don't have any control over the installation process on Chrome, you'd need to seek help in the Chrome forums.
That said, this seems very odd.
Type the following in the address bar:
    chrome://plugins/
Click Details and expand the list.
Scroll down, and you should be able to find Adobe Flash Player in the list.
If it's not there, I'd remove Chrome and just download it again from Google.
Also, do you have any security or privacy software (maybe from a not-so-mainstream vendor?) that might helpfully remove Flash Player for you?

  • Adobe Reader Plugin not installed in IE

    W7 64 bit Ultimate
I have Adobe Reader installed and running fine on my PC (Adobe Reader XI - 11.0.09)
It also works fine within Firefox .. plugin installed, enabled & working
However due to a specific requirement I have to use IE  (v 11 latest)
This currently will not work with on-line adobe forms ... "Read X" shows when I try to access adobe forms, when I look under add-ons .... only Adobe Shock wave shows, there is no Adobe reader plug-in.
I have re-run Adobe Reader install ... it comes back with message 'application already installed'
How can I install the IE browser plug-in?
Within Manager Add-ons I click on 'find plugins & toolbars' but it has nothing for Adobe or reader (pretty useless)
Anybody know how I can install it .... Adobe web pages just say enable it, but can't as it does not show.

Slight typo .... the form on screen was all in RED tables lines ... and above it a large Red 'X'
In show all add-ons    it did not show ... full de-install & re-install of Adobe Reader XI made no difference.
I then deinstalled IE and re-installed and it seems to have fixed it.
At least on IE ... still does not work on FireFox

  • Feature Request: a way to retrieve accurate plugin disable/enable state

As it stands, LrEnablePlugin file is executed when plugin goes from disabled to enabled, and LrDisablePlugin is executed when plugin goes from enabled to disabled. Unfortunately its really hard to glean useful information because:
plugin will go from enabled to disabled then back to enabled when new metadata is added and such stuff, and there is no way to tell whether plugin is enabled or disabled after a reload, since neither module is executed unless there is a change.
It would be useful to me to be able to simply read an accurate status: enabled or disabled.
Also, if Lr needs to disable for a moment to add metadata, I'd rather have the state not reflect the temporary disablement, unless reenabling fails and it becomes permanently disabled, or better still, have it reflect the temporary-ness of the disabled state, so maybe these states:
    disabled permanently
disabled temporarily (e.g. to add metadata)
    enabled permanently
enabled temporarily - for case when user attempts to enable but catalog neds updating, in which case if update fails it will be re-disabled.
If this is too much, at least a minimal improvement could be had by simply having LrEnablePlugin and LrDisablePlugin not be called when Lightroom disables/enables for the sake of metadata / catalog updating, so they're only called when user clicks the buttons. This would not be as useful as accurate live status, but at least would eliminate disable / enable actions that assume the user did something he/she did not...

    HI Matt,
    Sorry - it was late...
Anyway, I think you've got the jest of it. To help clarify further:
There are two issues with the way things are enable/disable-wise:
    1.  there is no way for a plugin to tell if it is enabled or disabled.
Here's a cut from the framework:
--- Determine if plugin is enabled.
--  @usage      Note: do not depend on this reporting correctly, since default value for 'enabled' is true
--              even when plugin is disabled. Its only correct after plugin goes from enabled to disabled or vice versa after init...
    function App:isPluginEnabled()
        local ena = rawget( _G, 'enabled' )
assert( ena ~= nil, "no ena" )
        return ena
    end
    2. The enabled / disabled modules are executed upon temporary disablement / reenablement as well as the more permanent flavor, so they cant really be used to prompt the user, or multiple confusing prompts get issued when the state is bouncing around...
As usual, I'd like to see this improved in the next version, but I'm also open to suggestions for working around it in the mean time...
PS - I just thought of a work-around for the first issue (which primarily arises in plugins that access plugin metadata) - just try and get a known-to-be-defined metadata item - iff successful, then the plugin is enabled.
    So, a possible solution:
    1. Have a readable (and preferrably writable too) enable/disable state that accurately reflects right-now enable / disable state - even if temporary.
    2. The ability to determine root cause of disablement, e.g. "temp-for-catalog-update", "permanent-since-catalog-update-failed", "user-initiated", ... I can imagine root cause for enablement to be useful too...
    *** UPDATE: Modified method:
--- Determine if metadata-supporting plugin is enabled.
--  @param      name (string, default dummy_) name of alternative plugin metadata item (property) to be used.
--  @param      photo (lr-photo, default 1st photo of all) photo to use to check.
--  @usage      This method presently only works when a metadata item is defined. Maybe one day it will also work even with no plugin metadata defined.
--  @usage      Only works from an async task.
--  @return     enabled (boolean) true iff enabled. Throws error if not called from async task.
    function App:isPluginEnabled( name, photo )
        assert( catalog, "No catalog." )
name = name or 'dummy_' -- cant start with underscore.
        photo = photo or catalog:getAllPhotos()[1] -- getting all-photos takes ~16msec.
        assert( photo, "No photo." )
local _dummy, msg = photo:getPropertyForPlugin( _PLUGIN, name, nil, true ) -- nil version, no-throw.
if msg == nil then -- msg is nil if property defined and plugin enabled, even if property value is nil.
            return true
        else
            return false, msg
        end
        --local ena = rawget( _G, 'enabled' )
--assert( ena ~= nil, "no ena" )
        --return ena
    end

If you are referring to the setting in the Java Control panel then that setting doesn't apply to Firefox (was meant for the old Mozilla Suite).<br />
Firefox finds the Java plugin via a registry scan.

The jre 1.3.1_04 Plugin is not recognized by browsers Internet Explorer 4.0 and Mozilla 0.7 on a Windows 98 first edition (Java thinks this is Windows 95 - ?) machine. Using the applet tag in my web page.
I've installed a jre exe file that I downloaded from another computer. But the Internet Explorer browser still uses the MSJVM to load the applet. I see in the registry that class id - 8AD... does refer to the jre 1.3.1_04.
I've not had trouble on Windows 2000. How do I enable the browser use the Sun Plugin, not MS JVM on Windows 98?
I've researched the "enable browser" section of the sun java site, and followed all of the instructions there.

I've checked the troubleshooting section of the download for jre 1.3.1, nothing there helps me...

    Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for your response.
I was just thinking about what a goon I am for cross posting. It is frowned upon in the forums (as it should be, and I should know better) and I was wondering if that is why no one would respond.
Yes I see that "Microsoft Internet Explorer" is listed in the Browser tab of the Plugin Control Panel. And I see that it is checked. I have restarted both the Browser and the computer several times since install but to no avail. I still see the MS JVM console in Internet Explorer.
Mozilla is not listed in the Plugin Control Panel, though I wouldn't expect it to be.
I remember reading somewhere that Windows 95 was not supported by the JRE but I think that referred to 1.4.2 specifically. I'm not sure if Sun stopped all support for Win 95. And though I have Windows 98 first edition, the effect of System.getProperty(os.name) shows "Windows 95". So this just may be lack of support for my OS system in general, but I don't know.
    Thanks again for your post.

  • Webserver Plugin not choosing secondary server

Has anyone any idea why my web server plugin will sometimes choose a secondary server and sometimes not?
I've got no cluster issues (well, no lost multicast packets) that I can see, the plugin debug information indicates that servers are available, yet I only have a single JVM chosesn and stored in my cookie
This is what I'm seeing from the cluster debug information - just a primary chosen and everything else looks normal.
    Has anyone any suggestions?
    Pete
    Properties loaded from path: '\\?\C:\IISPlugin\PRD\iisproxy.ini'
    Query String: '__WebLogicBridgeConfig'
    WebLogic Cluster List:
    1. Host '172.23.1.12' Port: 7030 SecurePort: 7031 Primary
    Dynamic Server List:
    1. Host: '172.23.1.12' Port: 7030 SecurePort: 7031 Status: OK
    2. Host: '172.23.1.12' Port: 7040 SecurePort: 7041 Status: OK
    3. Host: '172.23.1.11' Port: 7010 SecurePort: 7011 Status: OK
    4. Host: '172.23.1.11' Port: 7020 SecurePort: 7021 Status: OK

    2. Host: '172.23.1.11' Port: 7020 SecurePort: 7020
    3. Host: '172.23.1.12' Port: 7030 SecurePort: 7030
    4. Host: '172.23.1.12' Port: 7040 SecurePort: 7040

Thanks Pete. If you are saying that your JSESSIONID cookie only contains a single JVM ID, then this is usually an indication that the WL cluster node that created the session did not successfully create a replicated session on its chosen secondary server (or it believes it is not configured to replication sessions at all -- although your config looks good). As you probably know, it is the WL managed server that determines if a secondary JVM ID is populated in the session cookie based upon successful replication. The web server plugin will only use the secondary JVM ID in the session cookie if it fails to communicate with the primary server identified in the session cookie. If the web server is able to communicate with the primary owner of the session (dynamic server list includes the server and network is good) it will always route the request to the primary.
    Couple of other baseline questions:
    (a) what version of weblogic are you running?
    (b) have you been able to confirm that replication of session data is truly occuring between your nodes (depending on your version of WL, this can be verified on the admin console by clicking on Clusters, click on your cluster name, then select the Monitoring tab. If replication of session information is occuring you will see for each server that has an active session it will display information in the form "managed_server_name:number_of_sessions" under the "Secondary Distribution Names" column. This is an indication of sessions that have been replication If replication is not enabled or not working properly, this column will be blank). You can also enable cluster debugging to see replication messages logged to your server log. In the admin console go to Servers, pick a managed server, click on the Debug tab and expand the "weblogic -&gt; core " part of the tree and select "cluster". This will enabled all cluster debug messaging.
