Plugins Update

How many third party plugins are keeping up to date with CS5. I have so far seen Decklink and Pixelan Spicemaster.
All the rest are sleeping after being out for a month. Anymore out there?

Thay don't support MPE because Adobe doesn't give them option to. Maybe they want to keep MPE's inner working secret. The CS5 plug-in SDK doesn't include instructions for CUDA speed-up.
AFAIK, it is indeed possible for third party vendors to use it. This is taken from the Premiere Pro CS5 SDK i just downloaded:
"Exporters and players can automatically take advantage of GPU acceleration, if available on the end-user’s system. Each project now has a setting for the renderer that the user can choose in the project settings dialog. When renders occur through the Sequence Render Suite or the Playmod Render Suite, they now go through the renderer chosen for the current project. This allows thirdparty exporters and players to use the built-in GPU acceleration available in the new Mercury Playback Engine."
(Taken from http://www.adobe.com/devnet/premiere/sdk/cs5/ )
Am i missing something?

i have used the plugin updater to update most of my plugins but i have one that i do not wish to update. is there a way to stop getting the plugin manager to pop up every time i open up firefox? i updated all other plugins except adobe reader- which i have adobe acrobat and wish to use that instead but when inside firefox it always uses reader as default so i just chose not to install the update. can i disable the update manager?

    That is stealing.

  • I WAS TOLD I'M RUNNING A 32 BIT VERSION OF MOZILLA/FIREFOX BY THE PLUGIN UPDATER. HOW DO I CHECK IT OUT AND OR REPLACE IT WITH A 64BIT VERSION?

plugin failure, went to plugin updater @ firefox .that site said i needed to download both a 32bit and a 64 bit since i was using a 32bit browser(mozilla/firefox).is there a 64bit browser?

You need 32-bit plugins for a 32-bit browser. Which plugins do you think you need? You seem to have a good number of plugins that Firefox recognizes and can use. Those plugins wouldn't appear in ''More System Details...'' if they weren't compatible with Firefox.

  • So I can update my Oracle Java Applet Plug-in to Development Kit 7, Update 65, can you link me to the correct Oracle download page from your Plugin Update page?

When I periodically accessed your Plugin Check and Updates web page in the past, I really appreciated you connecting me to the correct Plugin Updates vendor web page when I clicked on your red Update Now button. This time, however, your Java Applet Plug-in "Update Now" button linked me to the Oracle Java "7u65 Updates Release Notes" instead of the usual download page. It seems rather unexpected for me, or any other conscientious user for that matter, to search the appropriate "JDK 7U65" file download from the Oracle website.
    Thank you,

This is getting way too complicated for normal peop.
First: the "Update Plugin" does not work, it goes to a page with all sort of computer jargon but no "Update button" anywhere.
Second: this forum jscher2000 gives a good solution, but I downloaded the incorrect java update, because my computer is 64 bit. how am I supposed to know my browser is what it refers to and that FF is 32 bit.....???$%^&*()??
Third: some of those "critical update" software are not even on my computer....well at least I don't think it is, I search for "shockwave" and did not find it.
I love Moz FF but the updating is starting to get out of control. why give us (computer idiot) an auto recommendation update not tailored to our computer? Perhaps in big letters at the top there should be an explanation "this is general suggestion these plugin needs updating, not to tailored with your computer, do your own research"
and/or add info I need to know like the 32 bit thing, took me forever to download the 64bit update for JAVA and it was the wrong one.
Now I am just afraid to update anything for FF because it is too darn confusing.

We have an applet that worked after the plugin update, then I wrote the JNLP file and can't get it working, it seems to be loading but doesn't show anything. Hi,
since JRE 6u21 the JNLPAppletLauncher doesn't work anymore.
The Java 3D's jars and native libraries hosted by Oracle.Sun can be accessed by including the extension http://download.java.net/media/java3d/webstart/release/java3d-latest.jnlp. More details can be found here : Java 3D Web Start Release https://j3d-webstart.dev.java.net/release/index.html

  • Firefox says I need plugin updates Plugins are listed as Netscape plugins am I supposed to use these for Firefox

Firefox says my plugins need updating. When I look at the plugin update page it says these
are Netscape plugins. Do I need to use these with Firefox? I have 3.6 installed.

Your plugins list shows outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.

  • How do I disable the Plugin Update tab when I start Firefox?

Whenever I start Firefox, a second tab entitled "Plugin Update" opens. I do not recall enabling it anywhere, and I would like to disable it, but I do not know how. Might you be able to point me in the right direction?

Type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter. <br />
''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.''
Pref = '''plugins.update.notifyUser''' -- if it shows as True, double-click that pref to toggle it to '''False'''

  • Every time I start up Firefox, it checks for plugin updates. All my plugins are up to date, but it continues to load the plugin site. How do I make it stop?

Starting on Fri. 6/10/11, every time I start up Firefox 3.6.17, it loads the plugin update site. Initially, it said my Adobe reader plugin was out of date. Therefore I updated that plugin, yet that did not fix the problem. So I was finally forced to disable the plugin. After doing this, the plugin updates check still runs every time I start FF. However, they all come back up to date.
So my question is how do you make this plugin update check stop running. I had made no changes to firefox prior to this.

There's a fault with the blocklist.xml file which was updated on Friday, it should be fixed on Monday and you should get the updated file on Monday or Tuesday.

  • New Flash Plugin update with hardware acceleration freezes Youtube videos

Hello, two days ago i got a prompt for a new flash plugin update, saying that now it was able to use hardware acceleration on MAC too. I did the update but i noticed that with hardware acceleration enabled, any youtube video i see, safari freezes. Seems like it's loading continuously (even if the progress bar of the video is already red). But as soon as i disable hardware acceleration, all goes back as normal, no freeze. What's the problem? Using the last safari version.

  • Why in plugin updates, in some plugins details in action colum it is written research ?

I would like to elaborate , why in plugin updates , in some plugins , in action column it is written research what does it mean ? because in some it is mentioned as update now or update that I can understand but what to do when research is written

That plugin check page is mostly concerned with the most popular and most exploited plugins - Adobe Flash & Acrobat/Reader, Java, and 1 or 2 others - those that have version numbers under '''Status''' or say '''Vulnerable''' or '''Outdated Version'''.
The Plugins that appear as ''unknown plugin'' aren't used by as many Firefox users, aren't considered to be a target for being exploited, or because the plugin doesn't identify the plugin version number in a manner which Firefox can differentiate between separate versions of that plugin ''(that info is hidden elsewhere on the PC other than where Firefox looks for that version info - version number probably not in the actual plugin itself or Firefox can't read it)''. "Research" means that the user has to find out if the plugin is up-to-date or not, and if it is out of date look for the updated version them self.

  • When I start Firefox a plugin update page keeps opening. This just started. How do I turn it off.

When I start Firefox my homepage and now the plugin update page open.

This issue was caused by a bug to blocklist plugins and that has been fixed.<br />
You can correct this issue by forcing the file blocklist.xml to update or wait until Firefox updates the blocklist.xml file during the next hours.<br />
That update will remove the severity="0" flags in the file that had caused the problem.

How do I install recommended updates, when I click on adobe flash plugin update now buttons, I hit a dead end on oracle's website, how do I complete the update?

First, grab the Adobe uninstaller from here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
Then download Flash 10.3.183.90 from here - about halfway down the page:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
    (Released 6/11/2013) Flash Player 10.3.183.90 (61.1 MB)
IMO, the best version of Flash for WinXP. Adobe kept up with security updates for 10.3 for WinXP users long after Flash 11.0 came out in 2011 for Vista and newer versions of Windows.
Run the uninstaller, then reboot your operating system.
Then you can run the Flash installer, with Firefox closed, of course.
''Note, if you still use IE you'll need to reinstall the ActiveX version of Flash for IE. That uninstaller removes all versions of Flash that might be installed,''

  • Will CS5 plugin updates to open CS6 IDMLs require Adobe ID?

Some time before 2010, my father worked for a company which bought CS5 for all its employees. Someone installed it on my father's personal computer without registering it, and when my father began to work for another company which gave him a laptop, he gave the computer to me. I want to open backsaved CS6 IDML files with it, but am worried that the plugin updates will require Adobe ID with registration, which I do not have. Does anyone have any information or recommendations about this?

You shouldn't have any trouble, except from your conscience. You are not entitled to use that license.

Paingiver wrote:-I want to know about which packages you usually prevent from updating? And how to do it?
-Upgrading often is more convenient way for ArchLinux?
I've been thinking more seriously about update frequencies recently. Especially considering the varying levels of brokenness I experience which takes quite some time to fix. This includes minor software compatibilities eg. firefox extensions. Or major functionality problems eg. broken suspend. Or worse, superhard to track show-stopping evil bugs.
The consensus seems to be update often and fix/downgrade as you go along.
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Downgrade_packages
However, if you want to fix stuff less often, you should update less often. Afterall, bugs introduced by bleeding edge packages might be fixed later on even newer ones. Updating less often allows you to see less of these buGs. Of course, this still doesn't solve the issue of experiencing "bugs" when you finally decide to update.
http://arm.nrk.cc/ (More info in the wiki)
To minimise this issue, I'm thinking of using the "Arch Roll back machine". The idea is that you update at a lower frequency of 3 months(variable) and when you finally do update, sync your system 1 week(variable) late. The idea is that by the time you sync, all the show-stoppers or bugs and their "solutions/fixes" are clearly spelt out in forums and the net. Thus, allowing you to fix stuff easily.
On the whole this results in a highly maintainable system which is as bleeding edge as you desire. If you need specific applications to be updated more frequently, just update those alone. Conversely, if you want your all your apps to be bleeding edge but not the kernel and other hardware stuff, you can blacklist those in pacman.conf.
