Plusnet emails

I have just moved from Plusnet to BT and need help setting up my BT account to pick up the Plusnet emails and also to send emails from my Plusnet account. Also will my Plusnet webmail account stay live or will they pull it when my subscription ends?

Unsure about the plusnet email account I suggest you contact them and ask, you maybe able to pay to keep it active.

    Hi
    I have setup my plusnet email account on my iPad and can receive emails but cannot send them.
    I have used the relay.plus.net for the host name with the correct username and password that are allowing me to receive mail.
    Any ideas?

    Each area RR is in the outgoing server name is different. So if not in the Carolinas, it will not work. Look for that thread I spoke of. All the servers based on area are listed.

  • I have a Plusnet email account but cannot add folders to the mailbox

    I have added an IMAP Plusnet email account to my mail but when I try to add a new folder to the mailbox I get a message saying it can't be added to the server. Plusnet say it is not a problem with their system.

    Assuming that you can send and receive emails with he account and that everything else is working OK, close the mail app completely and reboot the iPad. I also assume that you are seeing the Edit button at the top of the email account window that let's you add New Mailboxes.
    Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app thumbnail preview window to close it.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

    I cannot browse the internet. When i click on Google chrome or internet explorer i always go to Plusnet.

    I understand that you are having problems with the web browsers defaulting to Plusnet. Although this site is for HP products I can direct you to the Plusnet Help & Support page and Your Plusnet handbook that should be able to help you get the settings changed to be able to use different web browsers.

  • Email to a Plusnet account suddenly stops receiving

    Since last week using Mail, letters from chimp mail to my plusnet email account are suddenly being arrested as spam.  The fault is not with the webmail server as when I select command i it will forward it to my mac mail.
    Any clues appreciated

    Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    It sounds like recently, some mail you receive is incorrectly being filtered as junk mail by the Mail application.
    First, I'd try the tips in this article to help Mail more accurately filter messages based on your preferences:
    Mark messages as junk or not junk
    Mail analyzes incoming messages to identify junk mail. It highlights these messages in color (by default, in brown) and adds a banner across the top of the message.
    If Mail incorrectly marked a message as junk, click Not Junk in the banner. Or click the Not Junk icon (looks like a thumbs up) in the Mail toolbar.
    If Mail failed to identify a message as junk, select the message and click the Junk icon (looks like a thumbs down) in the Mail toolbar.
    When you mark messages, Mail updates its junk mail database, so it can identify junk mail more accurately.

    If you don't see a change in this behavior after marking messages for a period of time, you may want to adjust or reset the mail filtering rules:

  • Intermittent mail receipt

    Hi - I have a 4 year old iMac which I have recently upgraded to Yosemite.  I run Avira free anti-virus software.
    My problem is intermittent inbound mail receipt - over the past couple of weeks, inbound mail sometimes does not arrive in Mail for up to 3 days.  The problem started after the upgrade to Yosemite, but not immediately - several weeks afterwards in fact.
    I can read the e-mails from my phone - so they are clearly reaching my account with my ISP (Plusnet).  Plusnet's website suggests that Antivirus programs can be a problem and that a resolution can be to uninstall them and then reinstall.  I haven't tried this yet, as it seems odd to me that e-mails are getting through eventually - I would have thought that Avira would either block them altogether or not at all.
    I get a warning triangle with an exclamation mark in it next to my inbox.  When I click on that I get the following message:
    "There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “Plusnet email” or try again.
    The server returned the error: Connections to the server “mail.plus.net” on the default ports timed out."
    Any suggestions as to what I should do please?  Please note I am not a technically minded user, so suggestions would have to explain how to carry out the action - not just to do it! (Sorry!)

    I have now tried uninstalling Avira and rebooted the machine afterwards for good measure.  I still have the problem. 

  • Recent update has stopped mail from my ISP...

    I started having a problem getting Plusnet emails on my Mac Mail app while still getting gmail ones. I was told by Plusnet that it was an ongoing problem to do with an Apple update that requires extra security. I contacted Apple, who helped me by remote assistance to rectify it. For future reference the fix that is needed for the Plusnet account (and any other account suffering similarly) in Mail is under the Advanced tab to have ‘Use SSL’ unchecked and ‘Allow insecure authentication’ CHECKED (I was told originally to ensure both were UNchecked).
    This worked and I got my mail as usual. However, even though I click to save these settings, if Mail is turned off and on again, it reverts to the default setting and needs to be rechecked again. Anyone know why this is not saving and/or how I can get this to save permanently on Mail?

    Mail/Preferences/Accounts/Advanced - uncheck Automatically detect and maintain account setting. Repeat for each account.

    Unfortunately I'm leaving BT due to their price increases and moving to Plusnet.
    The service from BT have been good (internet based) but your call centres need a massive improvement as your off shore departments don't seem to know what they are talking about.  Hence another reason to switch to Plusnet for their UK call centres.
    I'm going to be saving around £350+ just to switch to a cheaper provider.  I will continue to get BTWiFi (thanks to my fonera)
    I can still get BT sport if I want for £5.99 and will also continue to get Mcafee Security (part of my plusnet package)
    I've requested a MAC code which has arrived within 5 days (which surprised me)
    Anything else I need to do?

    I see no reason why you should pay BT for broadband after you've switched this service to Plusnet
    "I'm aware the phone line may take longer, how do I know my phone line has switched to Plusnet? "
    Plusnet emailed me beforehand with the dates of Broadband switch and finally the phone line switch which was 2 weeks later.
    On the day of the phone line switch I received an email from Plusnet, timed at 3:00 am, saying that my line was active, and this was followed up with a text to my mobile at 9:00 am
    "Will I be charged for the hub?
    Were you out of contract or in? Were you charged for the hub?"
    I was out of an 18 month contract with BT when I asked for my MAC and signed up with Plusnet.
    BT wanted to charge me for the Hub5 because they supplied this 7 months ago as a replacement for Openreach modem + Hub3. But I never asked for it and they say that they couldn't trace the call in which they offered it, so they dropped this charge but said they would want it returned. They haven't yet sent me a jiffy bag to return it.

  • PlusNet and btinternet/talk21 email accounts?

    Is BT allowing plusnet users to continue using btinternet and talk21 email accounts for free?  I am aware that there is a free extension for 12 months but wondered if PlusNet (part of BT for people like me!!!!) can be used to link these emails.
    I am not that much worried about this but just want to know what the situation is.

    Although they are part of the BT group. PlusNet are a totally different ISP, and have their own e-mail services, so they would have no association with the old talk21 accounts.

  • Ipad2 not showing email messages

    Have added my husband's email account to ipad2 but messages that are in his inbox on the PC are missing on iPad
    I sent him a test email  message which appeared on the PC but not on iPad
    plusnet told me to change settings on PC to " keep mails on the server" and to do same on iPad
    I have done this on PC but do not know to on iPad
    I do not want to have the delete account as it took me 2 hours to add it
    Please help with simple step to step guide

    In case it makes a difference I have used IMAP not POP

  • E71 Email Problems, Help Please!?

    Hiya, I changed ISP, and therefore had to change my email settings on my E71, I removed the old mailbox (plusnet) and entered the new details (BT Yahoo), When I restarted the phone it threw a complete "wobbler", (active screen went blank, phone acted very strangely. Anyway, where I am now, The phone seems to have sorted itself out, I have removed and reinstalled the nokia email client and the phone is downloading about half of the emails in my inbox and the whole email client runs really really slowly if at all? Sorry to whaffle, does this make any sense, I can assume the email settings are correct of I wouldn't be recieving anything?
    To paraphrase my issue, The email client is only downloading a few emails and is running very slowly, mail box takes about 1-2 minute to open? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    a "soft reset" seems to have gone 99% of the way to curing the problems I was having, but thanks for suggesting that, it saved me hours trawling the web looking for the solution myself.

    I wonder if you can help me. I'm currently at my Grandparents and have realised that I am completely unable to send emails from my Talk Talk email accounts. I had previously resigned myself to suffering this fate with this talk talk email as it didn't work at home either but I recently found out the plusnet relay settings so am using it again. Now, my Grandparents where I'm staying have BT it it doesn't send.
    So, I have gone into my Granddad's account to had my email aprroved and verified, and have set up the following server settings under other SMTP servers;
    Host Name- Mail.btinternet.com
    User name- MY GRANDDAD'S EMAIL 
    Password- His password
    SSL on
    Authentication= password
    Port= 465
    And turned this new server on, yet when I go to send something it tells me the receipents email was rejected by the server an it is placed in the outbox. I must be doing something wrong- please help! Bt's help is no help as it tells me to call an expensive line!

    Tempted by free BT SportI decided to return to BT after several years away, during which I moved to FTTP as part of a trial from Plusnet.
    The original booking was for an engineer visit and both phone and broadband activation on the 11th working day. However, the engineer was postponed until day 13, then on day 12 I was called and told that the broadband order had run into a fault and would not activate until day 22. I found this very strange as my FTTP was working perfectly with Plusnet.
    The Openreach engineer duly arrived on day 13, unplugged my phone and plugged it into the modem, then completed the call to finalise phone activation (I would have been fully capable of doing this myself as the instructions had been emailed to me the day before)
    He then very kindly rang Openreach to find out what the fault was, and was told that something had not worked on broadband line 1 (it was already in use?) so the BT activation had been successfully done on line 2. He plugged in the homehub and connected it to line 2 and the light immediately went blue, inidcating that the FTTP was working.
    It is now day 15, I have been telephoning and emailing for 3 days to BT to try to get the order closed off so that I can access the rest of the product components such as Netprotect, BT Wi-Fi etc. Each of the BT call centre staff has failed to read my file and tried to tell me that my broadband is not yet active..... eventually I managed to extract a promise to arrange for an Openreach engineer to sign the order off today without visiting my house.
    SO at 8:30 this morning an engineer turned up at the house.... he looked at the modem and homehub and confirmed that they WERE working properly BUT THE ORDER STILL SAYS ACTIVATION IS NOT FOR ANOTHER 7 days.
    So far, BT have paid for 2 completely unnecessary engineer visits and, unless thet change their attitude, will be losing two weeks income.
    WHAT ELSE CAN I DO TO GET SOMEONE TO SORT THE MESS OUT.?
