Plz help: cloning machines does not stop, cannot cancel
Hi, yesterday I enabled sysprep to be run on new cloned machines but I forgot
that the VM template did not have the sysprep ran, ever since I have the two machines
in "cloning" state since yesterday and I cannot find a way to stop/cancel them,
yesterday I restarted both data nodes, today I restarted the 3 vdi core machines,
to no avail, then I restarted the storage and the xvm server, again, to no avail, they
still appear in the jobs running log and it is avoiding everything else to work, that
is, I tried to import a VM with the sysprep installed and ran, but it also stayed
'in progress' since yesterday (8GB vdi, should have take a few mins) ...
and no, no 'checkbox' to select and cancel the jobs.
what can I do ?

Is it still cloning the very first one or is it cloning, failing to clone and then starting the job over again. If so then remove the Enable Automatic Cloning check box on the cloning tab and wait for the job to fail.

Plug the power cord back in

The way to achieve this is to use a PAYG sim making and receiving calls to establish a customer relationship with the Carrier and then follow the Carrier's process to unlock
With a PAYG it usually means adding a specified (by the carrier ) amount usually £15 /£20 depending on the carrier

I have seen a lot of cases like your issue, and it's easy to solve.
First, open Disk Utility, select Macintosh HD in the sidebar and repair permissions. Sometimes, a permission can be damaged and it makes that an application doesn't work properly.
If that doesn't work, open Finder, select Go menu > Go to Folder, type ~/Library/Prefereces, delete "com.apple.desktop.plist" and "com.apple.systempreferences.plist" and restart -

Restore from time machine does not list all my backups. I know they exist but their dates are not present on the restore list. Any help appreciated. If I must use one of these older dates to restore, how do I then get the more current data off time machine?

That's one option, but not what I meant by restoring in the time-travel view. The latter is what you get when you enter Time Machine.
is the fresh install not going to be able to "see" the time machine backups that I have at the moment.
It should, but sometimes people report that it fails. I'm not sure why that happens. -

When I try to do the updates my computer says it has ready it goes through like it is downloading them then at the end it says some of the files could not be saved to "/" files.
After your restart your Mac, click the Apple menu (top left in your screen) then click: Software Update ...

HELP-sound file read vi does not stop at end of WAV file
Hi,
I am a newbie and I am working on a project that opens a .wav file and plays it (with volume control). I found all the sound related examples to be extremely helpful and I can just modify the Sound file to Sound output.vi example for the purpose of my project.
I am running into a problem where the vi does not stop at the end of the wav file, and it seems to loop for a while. the wav file i've been using was over a min long (and it was converted from a data file to a wav file, if that matters). I've attached my modified vi here, and appreciate any help.

I think the functionality you are looking for is that you want to play your wav file in it's entirety every iteration of the while loop. If this is the case then you just need to expand the While Loop to encompass the Sound Output Configure and the Sound Output Wait VIs and change the configure VI to Finite Samples instead of Continuous Samples. I have attached a picture showing what this looks like. If you are just wanting to play your file once and be done with it, then you can change the configure VI to Finite Samples and just get rid of the While Loop completely and then the VI will just run once. Hope this helps!

Time Machine does not see my external HD
I would like to setup TM but it does not see my external HD, but I can see it on desktop in and finder. I can browse it. But time machine does not see it and forces me to use airport time capsule but I don't have it. Help please.
What format is the external drive in?
If it's formatted for Windows (either using the MBR partition table or using FAT/NTFS volumes) then Time Machine cannot back up to this disk.
The disk needs to be formatted as Mac OS X Extended using either the APM or GPT partition tables.
Life is complicated somewhat by the fact that the OS, in general, can read MBR/FAT drives, but they're not suitable for Time Machine (limitations in the disk formats prevent some of Time Machine's features from working).
You can check the current partition map/disk format in Disk Utility.app - just select the disk on the left and the information will be displayed below. If the disk is using MBR and/or FAT then you'd need to reformat the drive in order to use it with Time Machine. -
I recovered a back up from my time machine via a wired connection after getting the 'white screen of death'. Now Time Machine does not recognise any back ups on the time machine when connected wirelessly and wants to do a first back up of the whole machine. How do I get my mac to recognise these older back ups? It connects to the wifi network the time machine creates fine, with the same name and password.
I recommend the following.
1. Reset the TC to factory.
Universal Factory Reset.. any model TC or AE.
Unplug your TC/AE from power or turn off at the power point.
Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on.. all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. (this is often difficult without a 2nd person or a 3rd arm).
Release it when the status light flashes rapidly. If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have missed it and try again.
Note..
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel.. add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations of the router.
No files are deleted on the hard disk in a TC.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
2. Rename the TC to SMB standard.
That means short names.. 2-20 characters but less than 10 is excellent. eg TCGenx (use number for x that is actual generation of the TC)
No spaces.
Pure alphanumeric. No apostrophe.
3. Ensure IPv6 is set to link-local..
Do the same thing for ethernet if that is used.
4. Manually mount the TC disk in Finder.
Use Go in the top menu.. connect to server.
Type in
AFP://TCname.local (where TCname is your new short name for the TC and local is default domain .. it helps using the domain I found).
You will then find the computer either can or cannot find the network resource.. if it fails something else is wrong with the actual network and you will need to fix that.
It will request the password if it is found.. password is public by default unless you changed it.. type in the password and check to keep it in your keychain.
5. Delete current TM setup and redo it with the newly named TC.

If your backups cannot be found, try B6 again, now that you actually know that the disk has been properly discovered. -

Have you checked the execution plan if indexes are used?
You could update the data in chunks, e.g. 10.000 rows per execution. For this you have to add a TOP clause and a filter to update only those, who are not updated yet.

Time Machine does not work properly?
I have used Time Machine to back up my iMac computer to a LaCie external hard drive for over two years without any problems. The last few days I have noticed that when I mount the external hard drive on the desktop, Time Machine starts to backup my computer as usual, but continues to backup the computer and does not shut off. Usually it takes Time Machine less than a minute to backup the computer and than shut off. Now the Time Machine icon in the program bar continues to rotate and does not stop until I turn off the external hard drive. Something is not working properly. Has anyone had a similar problem or know how to get Time Machine to work properly. Need help!!
I should also mention that my hard drive is connected to my computer via a Bilkin power hub. I recently had a problem with my hard drive dismounting from my desktop when I would wake up the computer from the sleep mode. I thought that I had solved this problem by unplugging the drive's USB power cord from the power hub and inserting it into a different port. It seem to work fine for a few days and than this new problem popped up. HP MS218 Not Booting - Does not POST - Cannot reach BIOS

I have an MS218 (product number: BR372AA #ABA) that I have been having issues with. It used to work fine (ran on WinXP), but currently will not even boot properly at all. No software or hardware changes were made to cause this problem to begin occurring, it simply just started happening one day when I went to turn the computer back on. The issue that I am currently experiencing is as follows:
- Power stays on, but nothing is ever displayed on the screen
- Does not post, cannot reach BIOS
- Acts almost as if it is resetting itself constantly, the fan in the back will start to spin for a second or two, then stop, then start again, and repeat indefinitely until I unplug the power adapter.
I initially figured it was a hardware issue, likely the motherboard, and began to troubleshoot the problem. As I removed non-vital components, the problem would persist. For instance, it happens regardless of external things (keyboard, mouse, etc.) being plugged in, or regardless of the hard drive or optical drive being plugged in. It still appears to happen in the absense of memory, however, I will instead hear beep codes (likely telling me that I don't have any RAM in). Ultimately, I decided to order a replacement motherboard, which recently arrived. Upon replacing the motherboard, the exact same problems happen, which leads me to believe that the motherboard was somehow not the culprit. I have also tried multiple power adapters to no avail, as well as resetting the CMOS battery without any luck. I'm really at a loss for what to do from here, and am currently sitting on hold with HP tech support.

There are two more components that we haven't replaced or look at and I would approach them in the order listed.
1. Power supply
2. Processor
It sounds like it's a power issue the computer is getting enough power to start booting up and then losing it. Thus anytime I hear a power issue the first thing I think of is a power supply issue.
The other thing is it could be the processor. The computer starts booting, makes a call to the processor, fails, boots down, starts booting up, makes a call to the processor and here we are in a vicious cycle.
It could just be the processor needing reseated. Take it out, put it back in and make sure it's in properly and no pins are bent, or the processor could be bad.
