Plz Help, just got a ipod mini...
I did the restore and the update....but now my ipod is doin somethin and says do not disconnect. and its said this for a while. is this normal? how long do i gotta wait? cuz My Computer is showin my ipod, but its not coming up in iTunes.
I too have just bought an i-pod mini and are trying to connect it to a windows based PC.
The PC has recognised the hardware (ie the ipod) and i have installed the software but i can't see the i-pod in i-tunes to transfer my files. the i-pod charged fine through the USB port but i am getting a message from the PC saying a high speed conection is in a non high speed port.
Can anyone help?

Help! Got replacement ipod mini and instructions are bad!
I got my replacement ipod mini today in the mail, and was trying to follow the instructions to convert it from a Mac OS X operating system to a Windows XP (compatible with my computer) operating system. The instructions say that I have to go to www.apple.com/ipod/download and get the latest ipod updater. All that does is let me download the latest itunes, which I now have. Then it says to run the ipod updater by going to 'all programs' on the start menu, selecting "ipod" (there is, however, no 'ipod' option on my start menu) and selecting ipod updater. I can't do this. I looked on my hard drive under program files and there is a folder called "ipod" but it doesn't seem to have an updater in it - all it has is this weird file called "bin" in it, and in that file is a thing called "Ipodservice module" but when I click it, it doesn't open.
supposedly, if I were to open this updater thing, the instructions say that a window would open up displaying various ipod models and corresponding software versions that the updater will install. Then I was supposed to plug in my ipod and click the 'restore' button to update it to Windows XP.
So, since I don't seem to have any ipod updaters that work on my computer, and I can't find a way to download this mysterious program given the website listed on the instructions apple sent me, how on earth am I supposed to convert this thing to windows XP? I'm afraid to plug it into the computer without running this updater thing first because I have no idea if I'll screw it up or not (and I just went through the irritating process of getting a replacement ipod, so I don't really want to take chances). Does itunes 7 just update the ipod for you, without an updater? Please, somebody help!Um, new problem. I plugged in the ipod and my computer won't even recognize it. It doesn't show up in itunes, and since it doesn't even appear on my hard drive or on the lower right hand screen icons, I can't properly disconnect it. I think I have now screwed it up, beause I unplugged it and plugged it in again and now the battery charge icon isn't moving - it appears to be frozen. Any suggestions? I hope I haven't ruined this brand new ipod.

I just got a ipod mini (i shouldve stuck w/ dell)
after a lot of aggravation, my laptop (dell inspiron 9200, xp) found the ipod. the icon came up ONCE tonight, that it was found.. now i have itunes set up, but theres no ipod connected.. meanwhile its plugged in charging.

First of all, turn off the caps lock. Posting in caps is considered shouting, and is also more difficult to read.
Formatting the iPod shouldnt take any longer than a few minutes.
Try this instead of using the supplied installation CD.
Download the iPod Updater, install this to your computer, restart the computer, run the Updater, then connect your iPod when prompted, then follow the set up procedure.
If it gets stuck, try clicking on the little x in the top corner, which might take you to the next stage in the process.
If this doesnt work, shut down the computer, disconnect the iPod, restart the computer, run the updater again, and connect the iPod when prompted. -

You need to contact the people who administer the networks to get the passwords for the networks. If there was such an app as you are asking for then passwords for wifi networks would be worthless.

The built-in apps on the iPad can only be updated via iOS updates, so if your iPad mini is on iOS 6.0.2 then its up-to-date -

Hi everyone! WE just got an ipod touch 8G. We do have wireless internet, but can't join the network with the ipod touch. Message comes up.."unable to join the network".....very frustrating! We have tried all trouble-shooting suggestions on the site, but nothing is working. Anyone out there got any ideas for us?? The router is a Linksys WRT120N.

hi i just got an ipod nano it came with the apple ipod + itunes cd, is that the only cd you need? ok so i installed everything on the computer (win xp) plugged the ipod into the usb slot it charged, but all it will say is do not disconnect thats it ive uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything i did the update driver thing, but still all it will say is do not disconnect and it doesnt show up in itunes, and my computer just sees it as a mass storage device, but if i unplug it and turn it on by holding the 2 buttons it works fine but no music so i plug it back in hold the buttons to turn it on it comes on then goes right back to saying do not disconnect, anyone have any ideas?

It sounds like you are doing things basically fine.
The "Do Not Disconnect" screen is normal for your iPod to say to you if you connect it to your computer. When you want to disconnect your iPod from the computer, all you'll need to do is a simple "eject" of the iPod:
Look at the bottom-right corner of your screen, and there's the system tray icons there. If the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon is there, click on it, select your iPod, and click "stop".
As for your iPod not being recognized by iTunes, does it show up in "My Computer" or not? If it does, try formatting your iPod:
Format your iPod via "My Computer":
Go to "My Computer".
Right-click your iPod there.
Click on "Format".
Does the iPod format correctly? Check if it works in iTunes after this.
If your iPod doesn't show up in "My Computer", then try formatting your iPod via "Control Panel":
Open Control Panel.
Click the "switch to classic view" link, if necessary.
Double click "administrative tools".
Double click "computer management".
Under "storage" click on "disk management".
Find your iPod's listing.
Right-click on it and click "format".
Select "FAT32" and start the format.
See if your iPod it recognized by iTunes now.
