Hi all,
How to create oracle event alert when particular column is update. plz help me.... Acutually i need email alert when ever list price for an item column in pricing table get updated+... plz. Its urgent.

In that thread,... gareth.roberts say to modify the trigger definition to the column. Actually i am new to oracle >alert. How do i get that trigger definition and from where i have to get. and how to modify the trigger definition . >
plz...Need not to say like that, I am just trying to help you. I believe if you are new try to read and understand the documents and process. Please start with Oracle Alert User's Guide to create a alert and send notification.
I do not have any ready made scenario, I can refer you the documents to do the same,

Test an Oracle Event Alert in a Dev instance - email notification disabled

Hi All,
My client is on Oracle 11.5.10.2 and I have a requirement to develop an Event Alert. Problem is, in our development instance, client has disabled the email notification functionality, so I am really not able to check if the alert is sent/received and the format of the alert being sent. I checked the trigger on the table on which the event alert is created and confirmed that the trigger is created and also confirmed that on updating on the table from the form - a concurrent program '<table_name> (Check Event Alert)' is getting called by passing the table name and the ROWID of the row that got updated. Now, is there anyway I can check if the alert is working correctly?
Please let me know.

The reason that the email notification is disabled is, the dev instance is a copy of prod and there are a bunch of notifications being sent to multilple people in PROD, so enabling email notification in DEV would create problems as it would sent notifications to people which is not intended.The work around would be little tricky but if you think you can give a try.
Step 1. Disable all the workflow related email notifications

Hai can anyone help me?
I have lengthy report containing 1000s of Records in it..
When i disply this report in viewer,i have to use horizontal scroll bar of IE to view the lengthy report,which will in turn display long page ofit.
But,My requirement is,i want to display the length report in singe screenshot itself..it means i should not use IE Horizontal scroll bar to view the next set of records in report..
does discoverer supports providing any scroll bar to view horizontal shots like what we do in Excel.
Hope u understand what i am coming to say..if not understandable plz query me i will tell in details..
But plz somebody reply me for this query..its urgent.

i really a need a program code that can read a length of string in a text file adn write the oupt in another file. for example, the program should be able to identify 14 bytesin the text file using string length and insert a semicolon at the end of the 14th bytes ( to be considered as 15th byte ) and finally write it out at a text file..Im really facing difficulties as im a beginner...plz help me...

Help Needed Regarding Oracle AP Invoice Cancellation/Hold Functionality

What I need to do is to assign invoice hold and cancel rights to a user without giving him any other rights to modify the invoice in anyway. Basically what I want is that my user could hold or cancel any invoices pending payment but not be able to change anything else regarding that invoice.
My consultants tell me that it's not do-able and hold/cancel rights come with a set of other invoice modification rights which will be assigned if these are assigned. This, not only is a major no-no for me but I also highly doubt this, considering the wholeness of Oracle Financials. Please, can you let me know a way that this could be done?

If you want user to place a HOLD,then that can me achieved by placing manual Hold.....
A user of the invoices will always have the rights to modify the invoice....so in what way you want to Restrict the user..??

Help regarding oracle 9i on linux (urgent...)

Our is IBM machine with oracle 9i and linux.
There are two databases orcl, orcl1
suddenly some problem is coming.
when we run the service from /etc/init.d
ERROR
ora -00327 : log 3 of thread1, physical size 119853 less than 204800
ora-00312: online log3 og thread : /home/oracle/oradata/sa/redo03.log
Database "orcl1" warm started
when we run sqlplus username/password@orcl1
ERROR ora-01033 : Oracle Initialization or shutdown in progress.
when we do sqlplus /nolog
connect / as sysdba;
startup nomount;
alter database mount;
alter database open;
all are successful.
if we check select * from v$logfile, it shows of orcl.
we want of orcl1.
what to do

If it's not the active group and there are at least 2 other groups, you can drop the group (and recreate it afterwards).
In MOUNT status connect in sqlplus as sysdba:
alter database drop logfile group 3;
If the logfile is the Current logfile, then do the following (possible loss of data):
recover database until cancel;
Type Cancel when prompted
alter database open resetlogs;
Hopefully you don't see something like:
ORA-01547: warning: RECOVER succeeded but OPEN RESETLOGS would get error
below
ORA-01194: file 1 needs more recovery to be consistent
ORA-01110: data file 1: xxxxxxxx
In this case , without backups, you have to recreate the database.

if it's not charging both using usb and ac then likely it have a broken connector or defect battery
if it works on the ac charger then you need to get itunes working on the computer as that seem to be required for a computer to charge an ios device

Synchronize in Alerts(Its Urgent)

Hi,
I've to display the no of records affected using Alerts which may vary frm 1-1000.
I want a synchronized output.
For that,I've got a simple ex:

Here what happens is First it gives 1 records written to file and wait for user acknowledgement and shows another alert.
But what I want is to get 1 2 3 4 ....1000 records written to file as an alert in an synchronized fashion.
I can achive this using message like
message(i||' records written to file',no_acknowledge);
synchronize;
But I dont know how can I achive this in alerts.
Pls clear my dbt..

Dear Prashanth,
In Alerts, the message is assigned once and once it is shown using the show_alert command - it needs the user acknowledge until then the message cannot be changed. In your code you are showing the alert 1000 times, so 1000 alerts wills be shown and each requires user acknowledge. By default alerts will be shown on a dialog, modal window which requires user acknowledge. Once the message is set it cannot be synchronised.
