CALL - Call a System Function:
Note
This statement is for internal use only.
It cannot be used in application programs.
As of Release 6.20, you should use Kernel Methods instead of system functions.
Syntax
CALL cfunc.
Addition:

Effect
Calls the system function cfunc. The relevant function must exist in the file sapactab.h. If you change or recreate a function, you have to compile and link the SAP kernel again. For this, you need the C source code files.
Normally, external programs should be called by RFC with CALL FUNCTION ... DESTINATION.

Effect
Passes fields to the called program by reference. With "ID id1", you specify the name of a formal parameter, and with "FIELD f1" the relevant field from the ABAP/4 program. If a formal parameter expects an internal table, the latter is passed in the form "FIELD tab[]".

Firstly SAP Mail
A SAP mail is a mail internal to the SAP system. It is a very good forum to exchange information with other users. Using a SAP mail in ABAP code facilitates exchange of automatic messages at various stages of the business process. It is easy to use and saves many hassles involved in using workflows for exchanging messages.
The ABAP code to send a sap mail is built around the FM SO_OBJECT_SEND which has the following pattern.

The following links will get you started in Portal Development. Also I would advice that you have a good understanding on Java/J2EE. If you are new to it and want to get a quick & good understanding on Java/J2EE, I would suggest you go read Head First Series of Java books (Head First Java, Head First Servlet & JSP and Head First EJB).Really useful books, stresses only on the concepts and nothing more.
Also start visiting forums adn weblogs at SDN, there is a lot of stuff happening out here.

Further changes to workflow to send mail while creating material.

Hi,
I have created a workflow which sends mail to users when a material is created.
Now, I want to send mails to specific users depending upon the Industry sector and Material type.
For eg:
1) user1 should receive mail if the new material belongs to 'Aerospace & Defense' Industry sector and 'Raw material' Material type.
2) user2 should receive mail if the new material belongs to 'Retail' Industry sector and 'Semifinished goods' Material type.
Is there a way where I can create a condition for a mail to be sent?

How to send a mail with copy to some other receipients thorugh Workflow

Hi,
I need to send a mail to one Recipient and also copy some other Recipients throught workflow. I've set up a mail step in my workflow and that sends a mail perfectly. But is there a way to add CC to that step so that when the Recipients get a mail they know that they only have been copied.
