i got the following book..
OCA Oracle Database 11g:
SQL Fundamentals I
Exam Guide (Exam 1Z0-051) by John Watson
Roopesh Ramklass.
please let me know other books of this series...Just downloading/purchasing the Books is not going to help you learn SQL. You will have to read and practice.
My take is:
1. Oracle Documentation -- Download from Here
2. Effective Oracle by Design by Tom Kyte (Might have to purchase it as its not available for free download).
Once you read these and practice simultaneously, you would be able to grasp much more than reading all the above 4-5 books mentioned.
Also, I would say, to read just one of the books at a time than to make a mess by reading all and understanding none.

  • Regarding Good book for Oracle Service Bus 11g

    Hi All,
What is the good book for Oracle Service Bus 11g in the below list(or You can also specify any book other than from below list)?
1)Oracle Service Bus 11g Development Cookbook
2)Oracle Service bus in 21 days
3)The definitive guide to SOA:Oracle Service Bus,Second edition (or)first edition?
Can yOu help me out which is the good book for OSB?

    Hi Deilby,
    Thank You for your reply.
According to my understanding(I don't know whether it is correct or not),If you want to have full-fledged OSB development,we need to have eclipse.
If you just need to have routing and transformation along with SOA suite development,We can use OSB console .
Can You also look into this below SOA forums thread with SOA-OSB questions? If I have 'Oracle
Service Bus 11g Development Cookbook' , Can I answer all those questions?
    https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2559964?tstart=0
My intention is clear,I want to have full-fledged OSB development information(important components) and that leads to have good exposure to face questions.
Can You help me out to clarify my understanding and recommend the book according to that?
Note: I already worked on SOA Suite.I worked on OSB console. I think whatever we can  do with OSB eclipse development the samething we can do with OSB console along with SOA suite.
    Can You clarify on this?

  • Separate address book for my wife and I

I reently switched to Mac and this is driving me crazy. I would like to keep our computer under one user so we don't have to switch user profiles to access her address book or if I update and address in my book, it doesn't get updated in hers. But, when I go to address e-mails I don't want her huge list of names being auto-suggested and me having to sift through all of her addresses in order to find the people I want to address the email to. The question: Is there a way to keep all of our addresses in one address book (one user profile), but when I am logged into my mail, Mail knows to only look in MY address group for the email addresses I specify, instead of pulling up my wife's rediculous sized (and often unorganized) bunch of addresses. I don't want to accidentally slip up with the arrow keys and add one of her recipients to an outgoing email. Sometimes my wife's friends wouldn't appreciate emails that guys send to each other if you know what I mean...
Thanks for any help...and please tell me there is a way to separate my wifes email address book from mine...please tell me Mac thought of this.
PS I've tried the whole 2 user profiles thing and the idea of seperate address books for updating sake and other reasons, I'd like to try the single profile thing.

I thought Mac would be better with their mail client than this.
But Mail has nothing to do with this at all. Address Book is a completely separate application, and it's that way for good reason; it's not merely a whim.
I can't imagine what Mac is thinking that if a family of 5 uses the family computer, that all 5 people's email addresses clog up the search for the person writing the email at the time.
Each user has a separate Address Book (and other applications like Mail and Safari) to keep that exact scenario from happening, as well as to keep people out of each other's accounts so things don't go missing, private emails aren't being read by overly curious people, and so your account doesn't get screwed up by someone else playing with things they shouldn't be touching.
Are there any third party apps or plugins I can download in order to tell Mail that when I am in my account to only search for the contacts in a certain group that I create?
Sorry, but there's no such things available. It would be impossible for your Mac to become sentient and know what you created versus someone else creating.

i purchased 2 books for my iPad and they downloaded successfully.  They show up in iTunes when my iPad is connected to my Mac but do not show up on the Mac.  Is this a synch issue?  When I click the Synch box I am warned that downloads on my iPad will be erased.  Is that true?  My ultimate goad is to be able to read the books on my iPhone as well.  Thanks.

You should be able to copy them to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases and you can then sync them to the iPhone (or you could re-download them directly on the iPhone)

I've buy a new Air Book for may self :-) and I want to offer my Macbook pro to my sun. I really want to know what should I do to clean all my information in the my old computer?

Backup your data off the machine to a external drive (not TimeMachine) and disconnect.
Create another Admin account in System Preferences and log into it, delete your Admin Account and reboot.
Optional: Open Disk Utility and Erase Free Space (Zero good enough, 7x for military level, both take time)
This should be good enough to remove just your account and data without the hassle of reinstalling the OS and all new programs again.
However if you need that level, then c boot off the 10.6 disk (or command r boot on Lion) and use Disk Utility there to Zero or 7x erase the OSX drive/partition, quit and reinstall OS X. Much more work that likely is unnecessary in your case.
    Good Luck.

  • Oracle Book for experienced SQL Server developer

    Hi everyone
I'm looking for suggestions for a book to start with Oracle database development. Though, I'm not looking for a beginner book that starts with explaining what tables, views and procedures are.
I'm doing database development on MS SQL Server since 12 years. I also know things like relational algebra, no-cursors and other general database guidelines.
What do you think about one of those books?
Oracle Essentials: Oracle Database 11g: http://www.amazon.com/Oracle-Essentials-Database-11g/dp/0596514549/
Oracle PL/SQL Programming: Covers Versions Through Oracle Database 11g Release 2: http://www.amazon.com/Oracle-PL-SQL-Programming-Versions/dp/0596514468/
Any suggestions would be great. :-)
    Thanks in advance

BTW: I'm not looking for free web resources, I'm looking for a paperback.

Hi and welcome to the forums.
What do you think about one of those books?
Oracle Essentials: Oracle Database 11g: http://www.amazon.com/Oracle-Essentials-Database-11g/dp/0596514549/
Just download the Concepts manual. I was disappointed with my purchase.
Oracle PL/SQL Programming: Covers Versions Through Oracle Database 11g Release 2: http://www.amazon.com/Oracle-PL-SQL-Programming-Versions/dp/0596514468/
The "bible" of PL/SQL is by Steve Fueurstein. Get it.
Any suggestions would be great. :-)Toim Kyte's books will explain the "philosophy" of Oracle- youi can comapre it to
your SQL Server knowledge. Start with these and the Concepts manual.
These forums are a great resource if you're not sure of something.
    Read the FAQ.
    HTH and good luck :)

  • What are the best books for PL/SQL and Forms for BEGINNERS?

I asked about learning Oracle Forms in an earlier thread. Some suggested Oracle training at official Oracle Training centers like Koenig. I just went to the Koenig site. The OCA & OCP Forms Developer Training Boot Camp is a whopping 2,610 USD. That’s like 1/4 Million LKR. It’s more that the yearly salary of both the 2 new developers we got and want to train. That’s out of the question.
Some have suggested shadowing experiences programmers and team coding. Both options are out, since those things don't work here.
Learning from sites such as Francois Degrelle's blog is no good for new people since they will get confused.
I have come to the conclusion that the only way to do is to buy 2 books, one for PL/SQL and another for Oracle Forms, give it to them and ask them to follow the book and learn it and also give a time period like 2 or 3 months.
What are the good books out there for BEGINNERS to learn PL/SQL and Forms?

In addition to the books the chapter Application Developer's Guide - Fundamentals in the documentation is also worth giving a shot:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14251/toc.htm
Just for the record: I believe leaving them alone with the books won't do it. I'd at least define objectives (e.g. $chapters of the books in a week) and after they achieved them I'd test their knowledge of the individual objectives (like it was back in school :p ). By that you have control over how they are proceeding, you can focus on the things they didn't understand and you are able to eradicate some bad habits they might adopt during their studies.
If you don't take your time to train them proper you won't get good developers anyway and you will loose much more time and money...
    cheers

  • IIR 2.8.0.7 performance tuning suggestions / documents for Oracle 11?

Would we have any hints or white papers that would support a customer in IIR matching server tuning for initial load performance,
    beyond the Siebel specific
Performance Tuning Guidelines for Siebel CRM Application on Oracle Database (Doc ID 781927.1)
which does NOT generate any statistics on the Informatica Schema?
Customer is starting production data load into Siebel UCM of over 5 million customer records . Their current bottle neck seems to be IIR queries and high IIR host resources usage.
This would be for Siebel 8.1.1.4 [21225] on Oracle 11.1.0.6; I currently do not know if ACR 475 with its EBC access is used or not; I'd be looking for any performance tuning suggestions on the Informatica & database side - I have not found anything helpful in the informatica knowledgebase and in the 2.8.0.7 docs the only performance tuning suggestions seem to be on IDT loads.
Obviously performance can be influenced by the matching fields used, but this customer will be looking for performance tuning suggestions keeping the matching fields and thresholds they got approved from the business side.
    Any documents we could share?

    Hi Varad,
Well, Oracle Metalink actually got it fixed for me! Got to give them credit.
I ran the 1st bit of SQL they sent me and it fixed it so I think it was only cosmetic. I've enclosed all of their response in case others may find themselves in similar situation.
Thanks again for YOUR help too.

    1. Do you see any invalid objects in the database?
    2. Please update the SR with the output of running the commands below
    1.Connect as SYS.
set serveroutput on (This will let you see if any check fails)
exec validate_apex; (If your version is 2.0 or above)
If all are fine, the registry should be changed to VALID for APEX and you should see the following
    message:
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
Note : The procedure validate_apex should always complete successfully.
With serveroutput on, it should show why Application Express is listed as invalid. It should show output like:
    FAILED CHECK FOR <<obect_name>>
    Or
    FAILED EXISTENCE CHECK FOR <<object_name>>

  • What are the BEST books for Oracle database architect/designer?

What concrete books would you recommend for OLTP database developer (to start from the scratch, starting from data sources analysis, logical and physical data modeling, indexes, tuning, maintaining). It doesn't have to be a book particulary for Oracle but suitable for it..
I don't mean books DBA's or overall Oracle handbooks, also not for OLAP.
    Thanks!

For learning how to use Oracle database effectively, i would say
    Tom Kyte's both books:
    Effective Oracle by design
    & Expert Oracle Database Architecture
    Jonathan Lewis's
    Practical Oracle 8i
They tell you all the stuff: what/how to do something? and most importantly what/how not to do ?
And their writing style is just awesome :)
