Plzzz help: formsweb.cfg testmode false

Greetings:
I have installed Oracle Developer Suite on a Windows XP SP3 pc. When I run the form, Internet Explorer gives me a message:
Internet Explorer encountered a problem and needs to close.
I run the OC4J before running the form. And I am sure that the Net manager configuration is correct. The OC4J gives me the following line:
ConfigFileName: C:\DevSuiteHome_1/forms/server/formsweb.cfg
testmode: false
I have tried many things like: Disable some add ons like google, ..etc and leave java only.
Please, tell me what is the cause of such problem. Thank you.

I am using IE7, Windows XP SP3 and 10g Dev suite version 10.1.2.0.2
the problem is, when I run the form, Internet Explorer gives me the message: "Internet Explorer encountered a problem and needs to close".
I installed Jinitiator 1.3.1.28 and it didn't work. Removing IE7 and use IE6 solved the problem on another PC. but on these punch of PCs, I could not remove IE as IE7 can't be removed if it installed with XP SP3 unless you remove SP3 (in my case, SP3 installed within the Windows and not as a separate package that I can remove)

I have migrated 6i to 10g and need to start the application in new window. I have setup formsweb.cfg, in lookandfeel=Genric and separateframe=true. When i go to the start url, it opens new window but doesnt close the parent window. How can I close the first window?

You can't. As soon as you close this window, the forms-session will also close. What you could do is to move the window to some position outside the screen using java-script.

How to set image source path in formsweb.cfg file in forms 11g

Hi,
I had written HTML code in the formsweb.cfg file in forms 11g. In the below code i am unable to retrive image file(i.e., .gif, .jpeg) from the server or local machine.
In the below HTML code i set image source in the image tag as below:

Is this correct path to fetch the images from the server or local machine .
Please help me out how to set path for image in html or is there any alternate process to retrive images.

AFAIK, this is not the correct way to set the image location.
We call the working directory as context, so inside the context root along with WEB-INF, maintain a folder with name img and put all the images in that directory.
You can use either .\<image_folder> or the optimum way would be (if you are using JSPs) to use getContext() method and traverse accordingly.
FYI,,, using getContext() will give you context root directory, from there it is as simple as accessing any other folder.

It seems that one formsweb.cfg, it doesn not support multip form setting application.
I have 4 small forms application with 4 URL for one formsweb.cfg.
What should I need to do? I think that i miss some set up in configuration.

9i default TNS/DB in formsweb.cfg

I can't seem to make any use of "userid" work on the iAS middletier.
It's as if I can't override the basic userid setting: I can't do it in a named config and I can't do it if I put it in the URL. No matter what I do I'm forced to enter username, password and database. It's as if the use of userid just gets ignored. I can easily change userid when I run forms directly from 9iDS, it's just on the iAS it doesn't work.
Basically I need to be able to specify a 9i equivalent of putting "set LOCAL=MY_DB.WORLD" in a .bat file in the 6i fat client mode, ie. specify only the default database to be used so that the users don't have to enter that explicitly at logon. However, I can't find any documentation how this is done - all examples just say "userid=user/pass@<your_db>".

all parameters that are understood by the formsweb.cfg file are listed un the System and user section. In Oracle10g Forms we also added comments to describe their individual meanings.
1. create a named configuration for your application and add

Note that Oracle9iDS had a bug on Windows2000 that prevented the servlet from reading URL parameters. This problem is solved within Patch1.

Could you explain a little more about what you want the new parameter to achieve? I'm not sure what you mean by 'refresh parameter'..?

Formsweb.cfg - background resets following form navigation

I'm running Forms 10g Release 2 on Windows.
I have set up background in the formsweb.cfg file to use a lightgray.gif file. When I open my application the background is light gray as expected however as soon as I navigate away from the first form the background changes to the default dark gray and stays that colour. I'm using jinitiator and seperateFrame=false
Any ideas what's going on ?

Try clearing the browser cache, or force a read every time.

Formsweb.cfg - userid

Hi
we use Oracle Forms 9i and give the database connection string in the userid vaiable of formsweb.cfg file. Now the client feels unsafe to leave the database passowrd as is. Is there any method to keep the password encrypted. Please help.
Or is there a way other than using the formsweb.cfg file for storing the database connection string.

Sajan,
you could run Oracle Forms Services in single sign-on mode. In this case all database paswords are saved in the Oracle Internet Directory. There doesn't exist an encryption option for username and passwords in the formsweb.cfg file.

I read of a lot of people having trouble with the userid parameter in frmsweb.cfg. If you're already using SSO, then I would recommend instead of using this parameter for credentials, that you use a Resource Access Descriptor (RAD). This stores login information in your Oracle Internet Directory as either shared information, or per user. Demo URL that also covers HowTo

Remember that for URL's, the forward slash "/" and backslash "\" are reserved characters, so the URL you listed should never work.

It is a wide-spread misunderstanding in the Forms world how to configure the SUN plug-in. This is due to SUN changing the specs very often.
The following is to say about jpi_classid and jpi_mimetype:
jpi_classid:
is ignored by Mozilla-like browsers (e.g. Firefox), and is only relevant for IE.
For IE you can specify an exact version in the classid or a version family (as shown in your example, using the FFFF). However, the latter notation only works for SUN plug-in 1.6.0.10 or higher. Specifying an exact version, however, always starts the latest available version (behaviour from version 1.5.0.9 on), so even if you specify a 1.4 version (the default config) it will start 1.6.0.x if you have installed that. With the FFFF notation you can force the latest installed version of the 1.4 or 1.5 family, as long as you also have installed a 1.6 version.
Note that SUN plug-in version is NOT SUN JRE version. From the SUN plug-in you can still run on JREs of other versions. This must, however, be specified in property JAVA_VERSION (which is not in the supplied base_jpi.htm of Oracle).
jpi_mimetype:
The attribute jpi-version is NOT supported anymore from version 1.5.0.9 on. You should omit it according to SUN documentation. It should certainly be omitted when your users use Firefox, because otherwise they need to have the exact version you specify here, which is highly undesirable, because Java auto-update would then break the application (SUN hates suppliers certifying for only a specific patch version, they work hard to guarantee backward compatibility, and those suppliers are just denying this nice feature).
So, always specify: jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet
(without the jpi-version attribute).

500 Internal Server Error and formsweb.cfg ???

When I just call http://<host>:7778/forms/frmservlet, It has installed jinitiator
If someone had the same problem, I would be happy to have an explanation to this problem

How to Alias of formsweb.cfg file from Forms runtime

I m using Forms10g Developer. To run the forms we use an Alias in the configaration file formsweb.cfg. Can I get this alias name programmatically from the forms runtime? If it its possible then please tell me How?

I afraid. I think it can't be possible as far as form built in's are concerned.
Because whenn you launch your form form in your browser, then at that stage only you specify the alias.
or what you can do, search for the alias name in formsweb.cfg during form runtime.
You have do do some pl/sql coding for that :)
1) Call your formsweb.cfg from application server using webutil.transferhost_to_client.
2) serach for the string (use text_io package,read and search in the file.)

I face some problems with the formsweb file(believe so). Running a form in the webbrowser ends with this message: FRM-90926: Duplicate parameter on command line.
Do I need to modify my formsweb.cfg file?
