  • Urgent solution to this problem "Attempt to reset display driver and recover from timeout failed"

    Hi wonderful people at HP,
I would be glad if you can solve this problem in my system. I want this to be urgent enough because I am graduating by March 1st 2011 and I want many things to be completed on my system.
I have previously purchased warranty with hp for three times for tune out service, software and hardware help but nothing has been materialized, I am sorry to say but I just lost my money.
My system, from the time of purchase, had the same persistent problem of overheating and also heavy noise, I told this to several people of HP but they never seem to respond properly. In fact my friend had a similiar problem in DELL and they responded promptly and sent him a new computer system. I don't know what to do. It will be ok if my system can function for one more month. I WOULD BE GRATEFUL TO YOU IF YOU CAN SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.

    Re your 116 BSOD...
"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the Blue Screen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".
Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OS's like XP to crash.
As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.
If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.
If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.
Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.
Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.
If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.
I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps

  • Can't recover from sleep sometimes: "Oh no! Something has gone wrong!"

I'm running gdm + gnome-shell (force fallback mode) on a Thinkpad W520 with intel integrated graphics only (via bios setting, so no optimus). Once a week or so, my Laptop fails to go to sleep properly and to recover from it.
It basically works like this, normally when I close the lid, the sleep LED blinks a couple of times, and then stays on (and you can hear the fan turn off). When sending the laptop to sleep fails, the led blinks indefinitely (like, all night, if you let it), the fan keeps running as well.
Once you open the lid again, you are greeted with the message "ACPI: Unable to dock!" on a black screen. This happens when successfully recovering from sleep mode as well, though.
Shortly afterwards, instead of seeing a password prompt, you see this:
    http://wocares.com/host/images/516726_sleeperr1.jpg
I tried to search the problem but couldn't find anything that was quite like my problem. I did however find someone saying the ~/.xsession-errors file could contain clues. So here is that:

  • Audition CS6 Crashes on Save and Attempts to Recover - Temp File Solutions?

After a 46 minute session recording in 44.1K, 16-bit, stereo running CS6 on Windows 7, my attempt to save the wav file resulted in a crash with Close Program or Look on Internet for Solution.
Attempts to restart the program and use recovery data worked initially, but subsequent save attempts resulted in the same crash.
Attempts to copy the wav file also resulted in a crash.
Shutdown and restart of the system yielded the same results, in fact worsening on some attempts to recover, where the data file reported 2 errors, eventually resulting in a complete freeze of CS6 when attempting the recovery.
At some point, the recovery option no longer was displayed -- may have been my fault, but there is a large 2+ GB file under c:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\Temp\Adobe\Audition\5.0 named Audition5Temp9b878c42-d2e1-46cf-b433-9cebd47d6640 with no extension.
I tried importing this as raw data, 44.1K, 2 channel, 16-bit PCM, Default Byte order, but that resulted in what appeared to be a 3-hour file that was very high amplitude noise.
I'm hoping for a means of recovering this data file.  In the years I used CS5.5, I never had a problem like this and recovery always worked in those rare instances when it was needed.
This is my second extended session with CS6, and this crash has left me wondering why I bothered to upgrade.
Is there any hope at all here of recovering this session from the Audition5Temp file, or is it a total loss.
    Please let me know.
    Yours,
    M.B.

    Hi Kent,
This issue has come up from time to time and we've traced it to a third-party application that is often installed and running on pre-configured computers. SupportSoft makes a system monitoring application that Dell, HP, Comcast, and others install, but which can interfere with applications. Since Audition uses the OS file dialog API, whereas Photoshop and the other design applications use a native dialog, this support application can often cause us to crash.
It's simple to disable, which should prevent Audition and other applications from crashing. Click the START button (or whatever it's called in Vista) and type MSCONFIG and press ENTER. When the "System Configuration" application launches, click the Services and Startup tabs and uncheck any item that reads SUPPORTSOFT or SUPPORTCMD. Click OK and restart and see if that doesn't fix the Audition issue.
If not, or if you're unable to locate those particular applications, please let me know and we can dig into this deeper.
    Thanks,
    Durin

  • I need a recommended way of recovering from Bus Off errors

I have write problems when a UUT is instructed to reset. When the UUT in the reset state I get Error Passive warnings and Bus Off errors after attempting to write extended CAN messages using the Frame API.
In brief the test goes like this,
    1. I send extended message 0x500 with 8 data bytes containing information to tell the UUT to go into reset.
    2. I wait 400ms hopeing that the UUT get's at least 1 of the 3 possible messages. It always does and does a reset.
    3. I then MUST send message 0x500 with updated data telling the UUT to come out of reset.
Problem is the write fails with a Bus Off error (can't remember the error code as I am typing this at home). I can get this to work in a brute force kind of way by repeating these steps below several times in a loop,
    1. reopen the network object
    2. reopen all perodic tx objects,
    3. do a ncAction NC_OP_RESET on the network object,
    4. do a ncAction NC_OP_RESET on all periodic tx objects,
    5. do a ncAction NC_OP_START on the network object,
    6. do a ncAction NC_OP_START on all the periodic tx objects,
(no warnings or errors so far from these calls allthough occasionally ends up with an exception and NI-CAN internal driver errors. I'm probably abusing the CAN standard and API with all the rapid opening and closing of all these handles and blindly ignoring errors.)
    7. then do a ncWrite for all periodic tx objects (we usually get Error Passive warnings here, if the write is repeated it frequently gets a Bus Off error).
When the UUT (by chance in all honesty) gets the 0x500 message and comes out of reset, CAN operations are fine, but the problem lies when the UUT is in reset, I can't send the updated 0x500 message to tell it to come out of reset. I get randomly Error Passive errors and Bus Off errors.
Found out today this is what the UUT is doing when in reset (written in PDL),
while not received 0x500 with data indicating to come out of reset
possibly repower most of the UUT circuitry (I can't remember)
reset Bosch CANBUS controller circuitry on ASIC (takes 2us I'm told)
do some unit reset processing, takes up to 100ms
    wend
(yes, it resets the CANBUS controller roughly every 100ms!)
I need a sensible way of recovering from a Bus Off error and retry sending that 0x500 message again.
    Any thoughts, comments, solutions?
    Regards.

    Hi Flump,
The idea here is that many CAN devices will "sleep" after some predetermined period of inactivity (not receiving a frame). In such cases, the device usually wakes up after seeing activity on the bus, where the amount of time it takes to go from the "sleep" state to an "active" state will inevitably vary from device to device. Well, suppose the controller on a CAN network sends a frame to a device which is "sleeping," and the device takes, for arguments sake, 10 seconds to "wake up" and become active again. By definition in the CAN standard, frames which are not acknowledged will be retransmitted. Also in the CAN standard is the requirement that a device or controller implement transmit and receive "error counters" in order that an "errant" device or controller can be "silenced" if it continues to generate errors. There are 3 basic error states, the last (worst) of which is the Bus Off Error State, which occurs when the error counter exceeds 255. Herein lies the problem; if a device takes a long time to wake up, then a controller will send, and subsequently resend, the frame while it attempts to communicate with the "sleeping" device. Since the controller's transmit error counter will increase by 8 for each frame which is sent and NOT acknowledged, and it will continue sending frames until acknowledged, the controller can actually reach a Bus Off Error state before the device fully "wakes up." This is usually undesirable, and can be prevented.
For more information about the CAN standard, see Appendix B of the NI-CAN Hardware and Software Manual linked in the Related Links section below.
The solution may be to send a single wake-up frame (just one time), then delay to allow the device to "wake-up," and then continue normal communication. It is important to realize that when a device "sleeps," it actually relies on the fact that a CAN controller will send frames multiple times. That is, the first frame received when a device is "sleeping" is NOT processed. The sudden voltage change on the bus caused by a frame transmission is sensed by a CAN device and will cause it to resume active operating conditions, but the frame which initiates the wakeup cannot be processed because the hardware was previously asleep (some of it literally not powered). Thus, if we have a mechanism for sending a single "wake-up" frame, and then delay until all devices (or at least the one we intend to communicate with) wake up, we can resume normal communications while knowing deterministically that subsequent commands should/will be processed by the device to which we wish to communicate.
In the NI-CAN API, the way to transmit a single frame - one time only - is by setting the Single Shot Transmit attribute to 1 (using the set attribute function: in LabVIEW use the ncSetAttr.vi for the Frame API and CAN Set Property.vi for the Channel API). For Frame API users, the Network Configuration object (programmed explicitly) can be used, where of course we must stop and start the task (using ncAction.vi) around the attribute setting. The sequence of events would generally be: Network Config (should have happened anyway at some point), Network Open, Stop, Set Attribute, Start, Write "wakeup frame," proceed with the program after sufficient delay. Please note that the required delay may be very small; the "10 second" wake-up time suggested for a device above is much much longer than a normal device's "wake-up period". Of course, the baud rate used on a given network will factor into how many frames can be sent by a controller in a given period, and therefore how fast a corresponding error counter will increment as a result of unacknowledged frames.
Attached is an example, which will write a single "wake-up" frame using the technique described above, where the write will take place when a "Wake-Up" button is clicked.
Is this what you are looking for?

  • Recovering from "no cisco IOS image file" error

I have a aironet1200 series access point, and attempted to update it to a newer IOS software release. However it never came back up after the update, and upon reboot the 3 status lights show red, green, red, which apparently means there is 'no cisco IOS image file'. Is there a way to recover from this error? It has a RJ45 style console port, can I use thi to recover?

Got it sorted, managed to find the manual which goes through this in it's entirety!

InDesign crashes upon launch while attempting to recover a damaged document

You can try opening the file "as a copy" from the open dialog. You can also try the blind export to .idml: Adobe Community: InDesign 6 is crashing when attempting to open a particular document. All others are opening OK.
and there's a tool for Windows you can try, if you have access to a windows machine: INDDRecovery — a program for restoring corrupted InDesign documents
After that, it's a question of how much money you want to throw at it. Markzware.com has a paid recovery service that will probably work.

  • How to recover from an exception on a class loaded with a classloader?

I have created a classloader for the purpose of dynamically loading "modules" . The whole application is multithreaded and the separate modules may also run as separate threads. The problem that I am facing is that if one of the modules crashes (does not handle an exception), then the class loader object which loaded the required classes and started the module's thread, cannot be accessed. The thread which attempts to access this class loader freezes. Is there any way to recover from this situation?
    Thanks in advance

Ok, let me provide a bit more information. Each "module" is handled by specific class (let's call it ModuleDescriptor), which subclasses the URLClassLoader class. The ModuleDescriptor class is responsible for describing each module, maintain module state information (loaded, unloaded, started, stopped, etc) and also executing some method calls on a specific object of the module, which in essence acts as a means to start or stop the module. Each module is a separate thread and is packaged in a JAR file, which is first downloaded locally. If one of these module threads crashes, then I cannot even call a method of the ModuleDescriptor to perform the necessary unloading bit. Basically, when I can the method that thread of execution halts without an exception or an error or anything. The rest of the application continues working properly (other threads). I find this situation bizarre, because the ModuleDescriptor object and the actual module with the thread that crashed execute on separate threads. If there is any more specific information that I have to provide, please let me know.

If you didn't back up your phone before attempting to update, you may have lost all your photos and other data on your phone. If you restore the phone through iTunes, it will most definitely wipe your phone of all data and reset it to factory settings.

  • Hi,  iTunes is no longer syncing my iPhoto library to my iPhone 4. Everything was syncing fine when I first got the phone, but, over the past week or so, it's stopped syncing photos.   Now, after attempting to start from scratch by deleting all the photos

    Hi,
iTunes is no longer syncing my iPhoto library to my iPhone 4. Everything was syncing fine when I first got the phone, but, over the past week or so, it's stopped syncing photos.
Now, after attempting to start from scratch by deleting all the photos on my iPhone, iTunes won't sync ANY photos from iPhoto back to my iPhone. I've restarted my phone, computer, etc., force quit all photo-related apps on my iPhone, and tried various combinations of turning iTunes' photo syncing on/off, switching photo sync folders, etc., all to no avail -- I can't get my iPhoto library back on to my iPhone no matter what I do.
Anyone encounter a similar situation? (I've already sent feedback to Apple.) Thanks in advance.

Try deleting what is called the iPod Photo Cache.

  • Error While Attempting to Checkout from Catalog

    Hello Gurus,
I am currently using OIM 11g r2 and I have done the following:
    1) Created a Sandbox
    2) Installed the 9.1.1.7 AD Connector
    3) Created an Application Instance for the AD Connector (with appropriate form, etc)
    4) Ran the catalog scheduled task
    5) Published the Sandbox
Now, I have succeeded in provisioning a user to the target AD through direct provisioning as Xelsysadm. However, I am experiencing the following issues:
    1) While I am xelsysadm in the Identity portal, if I do not activate a sandbox in said portal, I receive the following error after adding an item to the cart and attempting to checkout from the catalog:
    ADFC-06002: unhandled exception
ADF_FACES-60097: For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beginning with: ADF_FACES-60096: Server Exception during PPR, #13
    2) This issue also exists when trying to request any resource as a regular user.
As mentioned earlier, I can get around this by activating a sandbox, but this unfortunately means that I cannot login as an ordinary user and request a resource (because they do not have permissions to activate a sandbox). I don't understand why I would be experiencing this issue since I published the sandbox that had my AD Application Instance... Can anyone assist me with this issue?
