PM 7.0 SP2 Pagemaker Corrupts files when it opens them

I work in the IT department at a hospital and the hard drive failed in our Print Shops computer. After reinstalling all the programs I'm having problems with page maker 7.0 whenever I open a document with it (from a networked drive) it corrupts the file and page maker crashes. That user's manager also has page maker and can open the files without a problem (before the first computer corrupts them). We had problems with Xp sp3 and in design/page maker so we have it running Sp2 so that shouldn't be an issue and I have tried reinstalling pagemaker and that didn't help anything. Anyone have any ideas that I can try to get this working correctly?

I just tried that approach, I copy pasted the file onto the desktop and it did not work, when it opened it just gave me a dialog box telling me that the file was not closed successfully the last time it was used. the file opens fine on another computer we have thats running pagemaker so I do not understand why it is getting this error.
when i click no, in order to open the last successfully saved version pagemaker opens but its blank, and there is no document to view

Extra words added to sheet names on Numbers files when I open them at work, why?

Everytime I email a Numbers Spreadsheet as an Excel file to myself, when I open it on my work computer, EVERY ONE of the sheets at the bottom adds "Table 1" to it. For example, the sheet may say, "May 2011". When I email it to myself and open it, it then says, "May 2011 Table 1" . If I email it again from my iPad2 then it would say "May 2011 Table 1 Table 1". Obviously I have to keep going back and renaming each sheet b/c it gets so insanely long after a few emails.
Any help on either of these questions would be greatly apprecatied! Thanks!

When exporting to Excel, the Excel worksheets are named with the Numbers sheet and table names. So, if you have a Numbers document with a sheet called May 2011 and that sheet has a single table called Table 1, the resulting Excel worksheet becomes May 2011 - Table 1.
When importing an Excel Spreadsheet into Numbers, Numbers creates a sheet from the Excel worksheet and creates a table (Table 1) for the data. So an Excel worksheet called May 2011 - Table 1 will result in a Numbers sheet called May 2011 - Table 1 and in that sheet will be a Table 1.
That's what you are seeing and there is no workaround. Numbers and Excel are not structured the same. Import and export are not one-to-one processes. Importing and exporting back and forth is not recommended for any proprietary format, be it spreadsheets, word processing documents, CAD files, or whatever. It is better to use an application that natively supports the chosen format. In other words, use Numbers exclusively or use Excel and/or its clones exclusively.

HELP: Flash Drive accepts files when I run them files corrupted

So I have my flash drive partitioned in the Master Boot Record because in all other forms it will not appear on my computer. However, when it is partitioned like this, it will appear to accept files when I transfer them, but when I run them I receive a files corrupted message or error-43.
I understand the Master Boot record is intended for windows, but when I partition the drive in GPT or Apple Partition Map the drive is inaccessible on my computer completely. I do not care about being able to transfer files to a PC, I just want to use my flash drive back-up and save files too. If anyone knows how I could do this I would really appreciate it.
I searched the forums and could not find anything that has worked for me so if someone knows where it is I would appreciate a link, or if you know how to do it, I would appreciate the advice!

Nearly everything that stops working used to work at some point. If you cannot format the drive on either a Mac (why not go back to that Mac it worked on "months ago?") or a PC, then for all practical purposes it's dead. Return if under warranty, or get a new one.

Sounds like a good plan, you can never be to safe and having a second External HD is safer than one.
The only thing that I would do different, is setup the 3T as my TimeMachine Backup and then erase and move my Photos, Videos and perhaps even iTunes Media to the 1T. That way you will have room to backup both the Internal Hard Drive and the 1T External Hard Drive to the 3T using TimeMachine.
Take your time, study and use the > Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions if you get stuck or aren't sure how to make the move.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Why do eps files change in size when I open them in AI cc

I have a customer that often submits epss. When I open them in Illustrator CC it always opens them as 8.5 by 11 instead of 3.75 by 2.25 size they should be. If I use preview to open them they are the correct size. Does any one know why this might be?

No, Adobe has not updated EPS (or postscript anyway) since the last century.
A PDF includes allways trim, bleed, media and object boxes, EPS does not. If you get such information when you open an Illustrator EPS than it is because it contains an AI part in its file which is responsible for everything Illustrator or PDF like.

I used my time machine back up from my old expired power mac and uploaded the contents onto my new iMac.
All of the files uploaded successfully as far as I can see (except the old programs don't work and the consequently all those files are cactus :-( )however when I opened iPhoto only a few photos (500) where in some of the folders.
I went back and found the photos in the back up machine (25000) and dumped them on the iPhoto icon. They down loaded successfully into the correct folders and the thumbprints are visible. When I click on an individual photo the enlarged picture appears for an instant and then an explanation mark in a triangle appears in its place.
The original 500 pics actual worked... now after days of mucking around and with lots of advice I have doubled the number of 'photos' to 50000!!! Ahh,,,, and still the exclamation mark appears

This went wrong here:
I went back and found the photos in the back up machine (25000) and dumped them on the iPhoto icon.
Never import one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the link to the original photo.
I would suggest that you restore that library from Time Machine again, and then try repair it.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Here's something I found out in the meantime, maybe this is interesting for somebody or maybe - problem's not totally solved - enough info for any of you to give me further advice.
When I start Logic Core Audio driver de-activated, I can open old songs. Then I save them in a new folder with all audio files and a new name. And I remove all EXS24 instruments as well as the Space Designer. I quit Logic, re-open with Core Audio activated and I can open the song.
Problem no.1: EXS24 instruments don't find the appropriate samples, but EXSMananger Pro did help me with this. Same problem with Space Designer, which doesn't find the impulse responses, connected to a certain preset.
Two questions, every idea would be great!
- Is there any way to teach Space Designer Presets where to look for impulse respones. I can load IR samples directly and create a new preset, but I can't use my old ones.
- Is it possible to install Logic from scratch over an existing version? Or how should I de-install everything connected with Logic and then install a fresh version from CD?

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

All my pics turn 90 or 180 degrees when I open them on my computer?? HELP!

I have a few picture problems. First, when I open my pictures on my computer, they are randomly turned 90 or 180 degrees. So have to select and rotate to fix them. It's a pain in the butt!
Also, there are several folders in the DCIM folder. I can't delete them. Then when I open them, there are all of these "local disk" files. that are nothing and cannot be deleted. Anyone with any thoughts????????????

Hi there jjewson! I can certainly understand your concern here. I definitely want
to help you to get your pictures set up the way you want them to be once and
for all. With ios 8 you should have the option to rotate your pictures to the
point you want then once there, you should be able to save them. Do you back
your phone up to the iCloud or Verizon cloud? If the pictures saved in either
of those sources are set to the prior setting, they may be restoring on the
phone to the rotated version. I would log into your iCloud or Verizon Cloud and
check there as well. Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

None of my "paid" books will open in iBooks. They show they are there, but when I open them all I get is a blank page. I have checked all the newbie mistakes. Mavericks will not let me uninstall and reinstall iBooks.

All the books I paid money for will not open in iBooks on my MAC. Mavericks will not let me uninstall iBooks, so I cannot uninstall and reinstall it on my Pro. I have deleted and re-loaded the books and they show in my library (as they always did), but when I open them, all I get is a blank page with three dots at the bottom, flashing in sequence. This does not affect the free books from the book store nor does it affect the PDF I have loaded myself. (I had this problem on my iPad when the latest big software came out about a year or two ago, but I was able to re-initalize the complete iPad from my Pro Book.) I have tried just about everything I can think of, but all to no avail. To save time, I have reset my iTunes password and performed all the other "Apple Tips" in the support section, but after 5 hours I am giving up. Surely someone else must be having the same issue??

Yup, same issue since installing Mavericks. iBooks works fine on my wife's Macbook Pro, but on my Mac Pro none of my purchased (protected) books will open - only the free/unprotected ones.
I'm asked for my AppleID password, but nothing happens when I try to open a purchased and downloaded book. I deauthorized, reauthorized, etc ... nothing. Each purchased book that I double-click gives me a dialog asking for my Apple ID password. Nothing else.
I was already buying more books via Kindle than iTunes and this just seals the deal for me. At least I can read my already-purchased iBooks books on my iPad still...

Hi The next thing to do is to Restore back to Factory Settings this will get rid of any bugs . After Restore use same Apple ID /Password then you should get all your Apps & data back If you still have this problem make an Appointment at Apple Store . Cheers Brian
