PM8M3-V Mobo Latest BIOS version

Hey guys, soz for this, but i need help concerning the followning. I have the following system:
Mainboard: MSI PM8M3-V (NO "H") \ MS 7211
Bios ver. 1.5
HD: Sata1 250gig Seagate
HD: Sata2 500gig Seagate
RAM: 2x Transcend Jetram 1GB
GPU: SAPPHIRE HD 3850 512MB GDDR3 AGP
PSU: Proline 500W
I've read on the post concerning flashing the BIOS but are still uncertain about the latest BIOS update for my board. Live update only flashed the bios from ver. 1.00 to ver 1.5(and indicates that ver 1.5 is the latest). If i'm not mistaken it should be possible to flash the bios to ver 3.5 and "unhide" the voltage setting in the bios? I,ve searched for  later bios version but had no succes. Is all the post refering to the MSI PM8M3-V H mobo's, but not clearly stating it? Sorry if im making a fool of myself... need help.

Your board are using BIOS 1.xx only, and you already has latest version installed[1.5]

  • Page Not Found when trying to find latest BIOS version

    Hi,
I regularly get a blue screen with the following error code: 0x0000009c.
According to what I've found online updating my BIOS might solve this.
However, when trying to download the latest BIOS version I'm sent to a 'Page Not Found'-page after selecting my product.
Any advice on how I can find the latest available BIOS update for my product?
    My product:

  • Latest BIOS version P6N SLI Platinum

How can I find out if I have the latest BIOS version on my machine?

Can you run LiveUpdate, that You can download at MSI site in software section of Your mainboard page ? It can check the BIOS.
Or You can open page of Your mainboard at MSI site, go "download", "BIOS", download later BIOS and carefully read through the documentation within the package - it should explain how to tell the current BIOS, usually it is displayed somewhere, when You enter BIOS setup.
For example my mainboard reports 2.00, while latest BIOs seems to be 2.20

  • How can I restore the latest BIOS version when it doesn't appear in "Software & Drivers" page ?

When delivered, my brand new Pavilion desktop model 500-282ef was equipped with BIOS version 8014.
On the EFI\HP\Bios partition, only the \Current directory contained another version of the BIOS, an older one, namely version 8013. The  \Previous and \New directories were both empty.
Experimenting with my new BIOS, I've unadvertently downgraded my BIOS version 8014 to version 8013.
Now, as you've probably guessed, I would like to restore the latest version
The EFI partition doesn't contain any installer to restore my BIOS to its former up to date version.
Unfortunately, "the drivers and update" page on HP support site does not provide any installer either.
I would be so grateful if some of the nice people here would ask HP to point me to such (probably unreleased) updater which should obviously exist.
I have saved a copy of my second Pavilion desktop BIOS using safawin.exe in the hope I could use it to achieve a restore. But I've been unable to use it to restore the latest BIOS as the restore process also requires a signature file.
Thank you very much for your help!

Yes Dave, that's what I meant: during the "downgrade" from BIOS version 8013 to version 8014, no BIOS backup files were created and I couldn't found anything in any directory of the EFI partition.
In an attempt to solve the problem, I have put manually a copy of the BIOS (v 8014) from my second Pavilion Desktop (same model, same age) in the "\New" directory. That BIOS file was created with the safuwin.exe utility.
That has been a nice step forward: Now, from the Boot page, the Firmware Management offers me the update option ("You will update from 8013 to 8014, OK?") but when I try to so, I got a error message saying that a signature file should also be present along with the BIOS file to flash.
In the EFI\HP\BiosUpdate directory I do see some signature files like HpBiosUpdate.s14 and HpBiosUpdate32.s14 which could be the signature files I need, but I have no idea about how to use them (or maybe rename them?) to allow the procedure to complete successfully.
Concerning the warranty, do you suggest I should invoke it ? Could you please clarify ? Actually my PC has no other problem than this BIOS "downgrade".
I trust that HP has in store all the files I need, which have probably been used when configuring my PC in the factory. My problem is to have these files available in the "Software & Drivers" page on HP site...
Thank you very much for your help. I stay tuned

  • Latest BIOS version for GT60 0NC

The dolby digital live on the GT60/GT70 is pretty much crap. It only works with 'streams' that actually output it in dolby digital, an will not up-convert audio (ie MP3's and stereo sound) to dolby digital output. It's a very crappy implementation, to be perfectly honest about it.
If you want a GOOD sound card to output dolby digital audio, I would suggest considering an Asus Xonar U3. They run around $50USD, and will upconvert and will work great with this notebook. It's what I'm currently using.
Otherwise, the ONLY way to output dolby digital is to get a TOSLINK adapter (goes from a optical stereo connector to a normal optical connector). While they aren't expensive, they still won't get you good sound output from the laptop. I tried it, and went with the Asus Xonar U3 instead.
It really doesn't have anything to do with the sound card, it's not defective. It's just that is all that it can actually do. There are very few, almost none, out there that can actually upconvert. The Asus Xonar sound cards are one of the few that can.

  • Which is the latest BIOS version for Satellite L30-113 (PSL 33)?

    Hi everyone,
Could someone please tell me which is the letest BIOS version for my laptop since I have never upgarde it?
Also how do I install it and how do I check what is my bios version now?
    Thank you in advance

First of all the BIOS update is not necessary if your notebook functions correctly.
    But back to your questions;
On the Toshiba European driver page you will find all available drivers and also the newest available BIOS. At this time it seems to be a 3.10-WIN version
How to find out the BIOS version?
This is very easy you have to access the BIOS and then you could see the BIOS version.
To access the BIOS you have to press the F2 button immediately after notebook was started.

  • Tecra A11 - Video/Latest BIOS issues

    Hello All,
I just received a Toshiba Tecra A11 the other day which is out of warranty (Refurb). When I got the laptop there was an issue where the picture was displayed at 1024x768 and off centre (In BIOS). The image was 1-2cm off screen to the left, with about 5-6cm black space to the right of the picture, the bottom 2-3 cm's of the picture were also off the bottom of the screen.
I installed Ubuntu Studio initially and attempted to force the display to a widescreen resolution. I didn't have any luck, I also installed Win7 but still with the latest drivers I had no luck.
This was strange because BIOS was displayed the same way so naturally I decided to upgrade to the latest BIOS version. The BIOS on the laptop was quite old (End of 2009).
I downloaded the BIOS update from Toshiba's web site, and ran the update.
The new BIOS was installed and the machine rebooted.
However there was no picture displayed on the LCD panel, windows did successfully boot, if I connect an external monitor to the laptop I get picture. When starting the laptop the LCD backlight does light up.
My question is: What can I do to resolve this issue? Is there a BIOS recovery or downgrade tool available? Is it possible to reflash the bios? What is recommended?
    Thanks.

    > The new BIOS was installed and the machine rebooted.
    > However there was no picture displayed on the LCD panel, windows did successfully boot, if I connect an external monitor to the laptop I get picture. When starting the laptop the LCD backlight does light up.
Does this mean that everything is ok using external monitor?
Can you access the BIOS pressing F2 and can you set it to default settings?
Usually you can switch between external and internal display using the key combination FN + F5. Does it work?

  • Portege R100 and Linux - Function Keys Not Working and Latest BIOS?

    Hi everyone,
I have a Portege R100 (PPR10L-13G10P). I'm trying to install Linux and when attempting to access the function keys (F6) the computer doesn't allow me to... any ideas why?
Also what is the latest BIOS version for this computer? And where can it be downloaded?
    Thanks in advance!
    Terrence

    Hi
At first I must say that Toshiba doesn't support Linux in general so you are alone with this problem.
Hopefully someone will be able to assist you a bit.
If you want to find out the latest BIOS version just enter BIOS settings and check it out.
Newer BIOS version will not help you at all so my opinion is that you should not change anything.
Anyway, bio download page is - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_bios.jsp
F keys functionality is on Windows supported by special designed tool and it works under Windows only.

Hi, I'd like the latest BIOS version for my MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G card. I don't know what the serial number is, I don't have the box anymore. I've attached my BIOS file I saved through GPU-z. Thanks in advance!

    Hi
Check graphics card itself, should have a sticker with S/N. Else it might be hard (or impossible) to provide correct vBIOS.

  • Tecra S1 - whats the latest bios?

Hi, I wonder if someone can point me towards the latest S1 bios. The reason I ask is that I have a bios loaded, which is the 30/03/2005 ver 2.50 but when I try and get the latest from the Tosiba site dated 09/07/07 it just downloads the same old bios? Is there a later one or not?
    Many Thanks, Theo

    Hi
You have only to check the Toshiba page for latest BIOS version and as Paolo30 already wrote it seems to be 2.50.
I cant imagine that Toshiba will release a new BIOS for this pretty old notebook.
But note buddy: This update should only be done if you have problems with your computer because the update is a little bit risky. You could damage the ROM module.
If you update, close all running programs and make sure that you are logged in as administrator.

  • [VIA] Latest BIOS??

    Hi there?
I would like to know if i really need the latest BIOS for my mobo (1.8) and why. My version is 1.7. There is an update called "VIA RAID FIRMWARE" in the latest version, but i know nothing about it. Could anyone explain what is it and what it does?
In fact, i am scared to flash my bios, so i want to know if is necessary.
    Thanks!
    Athlon Xp2400+
    Msi KT880 Delta
    Msi Ati Rx9600Pro
    512 Ddr Dual
    Windows XP Pro SP2

If your Mobo works without any problem, you don't need any Bios update. That last Bios ver. should be usefull to people that have installed RAID system for HDDs. and they have problems running it.

  • How can I tell BIOS Version "offline"?

    Hi there,
I just got my K8N Neo2 Platinum and a 3200+ Winchester CPU. I heard that you need at least BIOS Version 1.2 for the winchester to run. I just wanted to check with you if there is any chance for determining my BIOS version without installing the board (maybe by serial number / revision number?). Of course I could install the board, but since my whole PC is watercooled, it would be very annoying to set up the whole PC just to realize that my BIOS does not support my CPU...

"version without installing the board (maybe by serial number / revision number?)"
you can't!  serial number / revision number is on the CHIP. there is nothink with information in the chip. its flashable. you dont know what version is on it.
etc you may see some hard disk SATA Seagate baracuda 80GB 8MB cache. so could you tell me what version on windows is installed on it without turning HDD on?!
you can guess for BIOS ver on chip depending on baying date on the board. or on mobo revision.
why you need this?! just put your CPU and power on. if mobo dont recognise it correctly will be desplayed "Unknown CPU type" but who care?! boot directly from floppy and update with latest BIOS. then will support your new cpu. other way to put other proccesor if mobo dont wont to boot with unrecognized CPU. and proceed with update with latest BIOS. after complete put your new cpu back.
other way is to take your BIOS chip and to flash to other the same model mobo.(but this is not reccomended)
